Hi ladies I have just got my BFP after ttc for a year. I'm 34 and it's my first pregnancy. I just thought I'd start a thread for anybody who has also just got a BFP. I'm excited but also terrified that something will go wrong! How are we all feeling?

Hi guys! Hoping to join, congratulations to you all!
I'm currently 4w5d with my first, though we are wondering if I'm actually further along than that! I did a week CB test and it said 3+ weeks so would put me at a minimum of 8w2d so who knows! My last period was a lot lighter than normal, but still lasted the 4 days so counted it as a period and down to having the second vaccine, but now I wonder if it was actually a long implantation bleed! I have said this to the antenatal team when I did my self referral so I think they are going to give me an earlier scan to be safe?
Anyways, we've only told my parents (and my DH's boss which is a bit weird 😅) as we want to wait till the scan. Saw my besties over the weekend and it was the hardest thing to not tell them!

Flamingogirl08 · 23/08/2021 19:37

Congrats Kate! Ive started to let myself a bit excited, we were talking baby names tonight Smile but we haven't told anybody yet. I can't wait to tell people!

Hi 😊 I am 4 weeks and 2 days with DC1 after TTC for 4 months. We have booked an early scan for mid September. Is anyone else having twinges? I get them in my lower abdomen and they last from 10 mins ish to a hour. All pregnancy tests are coming back with clear lines - just looking for some reassurance if this has happened to anyone else 🤣. No spotting/bleeding!

Yes in lower abdomen and lower back! I keep going the toilet to check for spotting. I need to calm down!

@Flamingogirl08 it's horrible isn't it! I can't believe how anxious it's making me. Are you having an early scan at all?

Flamingogirl08 · 23/08/2021 23:03

@lovo31 I'm not sure yet. I'm considering it for maybe around 8 weeks. I guess it will make it more real after a scan?

Hi can I join too please just got my BFP yesterday with baby number 2 , still in shock no symptoms as of yet it hasn't really sunk in yet be nice to share this journey with you all Smile

NellBelle · 24/08/2021 06:15

Hello can I join too? I have been lurking on Mumsnet for years and one of the things I did after getting my BFP was sign up here because I can join in finally.

I am 4 weeks and have had nearly a week of positive BFPs and saw my GP yesterday to get my bloods done. I am a bit scared because I was so lucky to get pregnant on my first cycle and I am just so paranoid that something will happen.

I already am so exhausted - I am sleeping very deeply at night and am ready for bed by 8pm in the last week. I also have started having some nausea too which is very early but not surprising since all the women in my family seem to get terrible morning sickness :\

teaandcrumpets35 · 24/08/2021 07:18

Welcome @candyfloss18 and @NellBelle :)

I feel your pain with the tiredness. I had this with my first dc and now it's back again. I sleep very heavily and have been having some very vivid dreams. But our bodies are going through some major changes so it makes sense really.

I don't have to first midwife appointment until mid Sept and my scan will be even later. I feel like I can't get properly excited until I know all is ok.

hopingfor · 24/08/2021 07:38

Morning congratulations everyone! it seems we have had such different journeys how we got here but we are all at similar stages now 4 weeks Ish in!

I'm worried I'm not getting the fatigue and nausea yet im struggling to sleep till late in the evening! I'm 4 weeks 4 days in. My scan isn't till 7th sept...

Missm82 · 24/08/2021 08:12

Hi all!
Jumping on this thread to say hi and had my BFP today which makes me about 4wks and 3. I am 38 and trying for number 2. Daughter is 11! @teaandcrumpets35 I hear yah. I want to be excited but after 2 losses this year already (Jan and Apr) I am super nervous!

Have had symptoms for about 10days or so but they have been less over the last couple of days so a little more nervous- I almost wasn’t expecting a positive when I did the test.

I will be ringing the EPU first thing as I am being prescribed progesterone for this time and they are offering me an early scan ( around 6 weeks) 🤞🏾 I can stay in this gang with you guys this time.

Congratulations everyone 💕

Well this is a pretty good confirmation! I’m really happy the clearblue indicator says 2-3 weeks as I’m only 3w6d so hopefully a good sign of good hcg levels. Was worried about a chemical as I tested positive so early (initially at 10 dpo)

4 weeks BFP
teaandcrumpets35 · 24/08/2021 09:17

@Missm82 congratulations and hoping everything goes smoothly for you.

I have a ds who is 10 also. Are you worried about the age gap at all? I feel like I've forgotten what to do with a baby lol.

Skl2021 · 24/08/2021 09:21

Hi can I join 🙌 here's my tests from 10dpo hoping this is a very sticky bean 🤞🤞 I should be 4 weeks tomorrow 🙊☺️ seems like were all similar times will be lovely to do the journey together 💞 x

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 24/08/2021 09:21

@lovo31 I’ve had twinges and cramping early on in both my previous pregnancies and all was fine. Have been having lots this time too so try not to worry.

Missm82 · 24/08/2021 09:22

Thanks.

I think I definitely have forgotten everything too 😅 I’m from a big family and we’re spread out also my sister has 2 girls and they’re 15 years apart and they absolutely adore each other. 🤞🏾 Will be the same. X

Missm82 · 24/08/2021 09:25

@teaandcrumpets35 👆🏾

Flamingogirl08 · 24/08/2021 09:48

Congratulations everybody! What are everyone's thoughts on paying privately for an early scan? Worth it? Or should I wait for 12 weeks?

OP posts:
teaandcrumpets35 · 24/08/2021 09:53

@Flamingogirl08 I'm considering paying for an early scan. It can be done from 7-8 weeks rather than 12 and only costs £50 in our area. I think that's worth it for the peace of mind. But knowing me I will also want an early gender scan so could get pricey, I'm so impatient! And never had this opportunity with my first as I was in a much different situation then.

candyfloss18 · 24/08/2021 09:55

Wondering do I need to ring the doctors and inform them ? Can't really remember all that part from when I was pregnant with my 1st . Yes I think early scans are really worth it for that bit of reassurance if you can afford it then I'd defineltey go for it Smile

wannabeamummysobad · 24/08/2021 10:02

.

Good morning, I've been going back and forth as to whether to join another thread but you all seem so lovely and I want people to share my good news with.

On 17th August at 14 DPO we got our BFP in our first cycle TTC DC1. Other than DH the only people that know are my gp, mum (a midwife so doubly helpful) and MIL.
I have a 25day cycle so think I'm 5w2d but can't be sure. @Flamingogirl08 I've got a triage mw appointment tomorrow and unless she strongly advises against it will do an early scan at 7 weeks.

I can see there are a few of you who will have large age gaps between DC. I have a 9yr age gap between me and my baby brother (26 so he's hardly a baby 🤣 , happy coincidence is my due date is his 27th birthday 🥰) but we are so close especially as we've gotten older. He even gets me Mother's Day cards as he says I basically raise him. He speaks to me about work plans in a way he'd never do with our parents and I look out for him. Personally I love the age gap because I had my parents full attention AND have memories of being ab only child. He has the same because I went off to boarding school at 14 then on to university. Bigger age gaps can be great

Flamingogirl08 · 24/08/2021 11:17

@wannabeamummysobad Yeah I think I will book one. Can you let us all know what the midwife advises tomorrow?

OP posts:
Flamingogirl08 · 24/08/2021 11:20

@candyfloss18 I just googled the hospital where I want to give birth and there was a number there to self refer to the midwife. I'm just waiting on a callback from them with an appointment

OP posts:
MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 24/08/2021 11:27

In my last pregnancy I self referred to my midwife team as soon as I found out and they booked me my booking in appointment almost straight away. I assumed they’d wait until I was 7-8 weeks but they saw me when I was about 4.5 weeks for my booking in! I’m going to self refer again as I’ve got their details from last time

teaandcrumpets35 · 24/08/2021 11:44

Thank you for sharing that @wannabeamummysobad - I've been worried about how my ds will cope after being an only child for so long but I do think he will benefit from having a sibling as an adult.

I rang the midwives directly yesterday and they booked me in. Apparently you no longer have to go through your GP first which was the case when I had my first.
