Hi everyone, following up from our second thread here.

We’re just about through morning sickness and odd early pregnancy symptoms… what will the second trimester bring?

Lizlou85 · 21/06/2021 22:25

@knock123 yes, my MIL has the knitting needles going. We had a scare a couple of weeks ago but after a scan last week it’s all ok, but I think that partly why I’m hesitant about buying things. Plus who knows what sales there might be when we get to late august / September.

mrssunshinexxx · 22/06/2021 07:06

You are probably right, @Knock123 I have a growth scan at 34 weeks so I'll have another look then it should be blatantly obvious. By then and if it ends up bring boy it will be a last minute dash Grin anyone interested it's the biggest next sale of the year 10th July starts 6am

pineapple2021 · 22/06/2021 18:56

Has a scan today and the lady texted the gender to our friend who is organising it for our wedding..... very exciting!! Fairly sure I know it's a boy as she said she had deleted the picture she was going to show us off the usb stick..... but also maybe there are pictures people show of girl bits? I'm not sure what sonographers can see for girls? Anyone know?

mrssunshinexxx · 22/06/2021 20:09

@pineapple2021 girls bits can be just as obvious off a potty shot but perhaps not from a side view unless experienced. You are looking for 3 white lines with a girl it's supposed to look abit like a hamburger

sparklyblue81 · 25/06/2021 09:07

Ooh congratulations to everyone on your scan results 🥰 I’ve got mine on Monday so in the hat excited nervous phase now, just praying all is ok as with my age there is more likelihood of issues this time 😬 I’ll feel better once I know all is good.

I haven’t bought anything yet but I’ve dug out what we still had from the older ones to sort & I already have a house full of baby stuff! I thought I had got rid of most of my baby stuff but it turns out I actually still had loads stashed away 😬 I gave quite a lot to my sister & she has sent me loads back! I’d forgotten how baby stuff takes over everywhere!!

There is a pile of bags of baby clothes in my spare room which I’ve sorted into girls/boys/unisex so at least after the scan I can sell/gift on of a third of the bags!!

Crazybabylady14 · 25/06/2021 19:51

Had to go for an amniocentesis earlier this week and got the results - all clear and it's a girl! I am so so happy and beyond relieved as we had a 1 in 28 result from bloods. Just had to tell the whole world 😁🥰

AlackAlasAlackaday · 25/06/2021 19:52

Phew crazy, wow, what a shock and relief! You must be over the moon Flowers

Brilliant news @Crazybabylady14

Katy4321 · 26/06/2021 16:52

Had my 20 week scan yesterday and all was well, so big relief.
Also had the whooping cough vaccine, which i hadn't realised until moments before they gave it to me is also includes tetanus and diphtheria. Ive had had these vaccinations quite a few times before for travelling , so i think my body reacts fairly strongly, so feel a bit exhausted today. A bit more info about the vaccinations on this link. I'm happy to be vaccinated, but would have liked to know it was a combination vaccine earlier.

sparklyblue81 · 26/06/2021 18:38

Good news @Crazybabylady14 🤩

I didn’t know it was a combined vaccine either, not sure whether it was when I had it last time 🤔 Will still have it though, got to rebook it you’ve just reminded me as I forgot last time 🙈

Lizlou85 · 26/06/2021 19:36

@Katy4321 my midwife didn’t tell me it was combined either. The nurse said it was just before sticking the needle in.

pineapple2021 · 29/06/2021 18:18

Hi all..... a question.....found out we're having a boy which is so so exciting..... I just have a query for a pro... everyone so far looks at me and says girl etc wjth bump. Photo says it's a boy but when I look I see the three lines for girl?! Am I being silly? This was 18 weeks.

November 2021, thread 3 - hello second trimester!
mrssunshinexxx · 29/06/2021 20:12

@pineapple2021 that's definitely a boy x

HLMx · 30/06/2021 17:28

Oh thank goodness I found you 🤣 I missed the post about the new thread 🙈

Good Afternoon everyone. Quick question for you all, has anyone used Window To The Womb before?? My hospital don't tell us the gender of the baby at the 20 week scan so I had a gender scan booked in somewhere local but they emailed me saying their machine had broken 🙈 I had my heart set on finding out tomorrow so I booked another scan with Window to the Womb. I've just realised that they say you can't have a scan with them if you've had an NHS (or other) scan within 2 weeks. Does anyone know why that is please??? Thank you, Holly x

Knock123 · 30/06/2021 17:44

@HLMx ahh so annoying! I haven't used them and I don't know for sure but the rules may apply more for early scans where maybe ladies have been to EPU for monitoring and need to wait a couple of weeks to check if baby is developing and the private places don't want to give different info to the hospital which could upset or confuse someone in that position. I can't imagine why they wouldn't be able to scan for gender so I wouldn't stress and just go and not say anything! Someone else may be along to correct me though x

HLMx · 30/06/2021 17:50

@Knock123 thank you, what you've said makes sense x

sparklyblue81 · 01/07/2021 19:36

Aw congratulations @pineapple2021- it’s so hard to tell from photos but the images on the screen when you’re there are usually easier to see- I could definitely tell on the screen with my two boys.

@HLMx that’s weird, why won’t they tell you the gender? Hope you get to find out soon- mine’s been postponed a week due to self isolating & I’m so impatient to find out, I always find it easier to bond once I know & can pick a name, etc

ScotsMumOf4 · 05/07/2021 08:47

Jumping in on this. Due on the 25th of November with dc#4 and its a boy.
@HLMx I used window to the womb a few weeks ago for my gender scan and they were fantastic. I wouldn't say anything about the other scan and still go

sparklyblue81 · 05/07/2021 18:29

Hi @ScotsMumOf4 👋 I’m expecting number 4 too 😊

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow (after a week’s postponement because I had to self isolate)- keeping fingers crossed everything is good with bubs 😬

Roopers · 05/07/2021 18:44

Finally made it to my 20wk scan today and having a boy! My 12wk scan had many a discussions and it was 50:50 in favour of each! Glad to finally find out and am now having a big low after all the excitement! Now to think of some names and can start shopping for some bits and bobs!

JackJack84 · 05/07/2021 19:04

Hi hope it's ok if I jump back into the thread, think I was on the first one briefly but got lost in Mumsnet world 😁

I'm 20+2 due on 20th November with my first baby. This is my 3rd pregnancy after TTC for 10 years, previous ectopic & mc so feeling very grateful every day! I had my 20 week scan on Friday & it was all good except baby was rolled up in a ball so gave the sonographer a headache ☺️

AlackAlasAlackaday · 05/07/2021 19:16

Gaaaw, lovely to read everyone's scan news! Feels very real all of a sudden... Fingers crossed for you sparkly.

Katy4321 · 05/07/2021 22:39

I guess most of us in this thread have had the 20 scans now? Sorry @sparklyblue81 that you have had to wait, and all the best for tomorrow.

As you say @alackalasalackaday it all beginning to feel very real now. My bump looks like a proper bump rather than I've been at the doughnuts (which I have too). And a bit of soreness at the bottom of the bump when i move, which i think is ligament pain? Also some reflux if i lay down too soon after food. Overall feel so much better than the first trimester - realise just how tired I felt and how difficult i found it to work, compared to now.

I already have a bag of lovely second hand clothes a friend gave me, but haven't got anything else yet. Our any of you getting baby things yet?

AlackAlasAlackaday · 05/07/2021 22:53

katy I have ligament pain / SPD too. It’s dreadful. Keep meaning to ring MWs for advice.

We’re stocked to the gunwales on stuff - basically in the twin community it’s “Congratulations! Please take all our baby kit!” Grin So we had stuff from DD but have received four (!) car seats, a pram, bags of clothes, nappies, rockers. I need to sort through and pass some stuff on further. I’ve tried to at least pass the good karma on by finding a new home for DD’s single pram, but tbh I feel very lucky/spoiled.
