Hi everyone, following up from our second thread here.

We’re just about through morning sickness and odd early pregnancy symptoms… what will the second trimester bring?

I am 32 weeks pregnant and my partner will not acknowledge that I am pregnant, his work dont know, his friends dont know. Only a select few of his family. I've had zero support from him and I'm worried when she does come he will still chose not to be there. We weren't trying but I couldn't get rid so hes still angry with me. What do I do? End it and go alone or wait it out. Its breaking my heart x

Katy4321 · 12/06/2021 22:46

@sparklyblue81 that really made me smile, sorry you went through that, but does make me feel that having these moments is normal!

@millymoo198 that sounds incredibly hard to experience. My suggestion would be reach out and talk to people such as your midwife and Gp, who may be able to help find you counselling and if at all possible try to get your partner to speak to someone - but sounds like he has closed up. An unplanned pregnancy is such a huge thing for both of you to experience - mine is too and we both went into a bit of shock for a while, but gradually realised it is an amazing unexpected opportunity, but still daunting. I hope things improve for you, and maybe you should post this question on the main board, as there are so many caring people of this forum and I'm sure you'll get some helpful responses.

I'm thinking of getting first covid vaccine..... I saw some of you had it. Have lots of you?

AlackAlasAlackaday · 13/06/2021 09:06

@pineapple2021 I've had my first, second is scheduled. It's such a personal decision but I read as best I could into how the vaccine works etc, risks on both sides, and came down on the side of getting it. No side effects other than a sore arm for a day after.

Very difficult situation if it was me I would leave @Millymoo198 sorry if this isn't helpful but you and your baby deserve better and he should be supporting you through your pregnancy it's a life changing time

Millymoo198 · 13/06/2021 10:47

Trying to find the strength to do this alone. I am absolutely heartbroken...

Knock123 · 13/06/2021 10:57

@pineapple2021 check out the Stella Creasey & Pregnant Then Screwed webinar. The experts on there all explained how the vaccine works and how the baby should get some antibodies etc. I was really against until I watched it and felt if an expert immunologist says she'd get it that was enough for me. Also lots of women in the US have had the vaccine and had their babies with nothing strange reported. I felt tired for a day (nothing new there) and had a sore arm but otherwise was fine and now I'm just desperate for the other jab so I can relax a bit

sparklyblue81 · 14/06/2021 07:14

@Millymoo198 I’m really sorry he’s being a dickhead. This is no. 4 for us & not planned either & it was a “bit” of a shocker initially for both of us. I would have thought he’d have got used to the idea by now though? My first was planned and my ex still found that very hard to get his round but was fine as soon as DS was here. So hard to know if he’s going to step up and be a decent dad basically. Do you have support from your family/ friends in the meantime? I would definitely be looking to that support network in the meantime in case.

@pineapple2021 I’ve had the first Pfizer- I’m quite exposed in my job as I work in a school so I figured risk of COVID was worse than any possible (small) risk from vaccine. Felt a bit rubbish for 24 hours, but def worth it IMHO.

Millymoo198 · 14/06/2021 22:02

That's it isnt it, waiting. The closer it gets to the time the more I feel like pushing him away to save the hurt later on xx

Roopers · 15/06/2021 08:39

Morning all. I've my 16 week midwife appt tomorrow but I've now had meetings scheduled either side of it. Can those who have had theirs let me know how long to expect I'll be there? 10 mins? 45 mins? Longer?

Katy4321 · 15/06/2021 09:27

@roopers mine was about 15 minutes, and a few minutes wait before. She did give me option to hear the heartbeat, which I took, but that only took a few minutes.

mrssunshinexxx · 15/06/2021 13:16

@Roopers mine are always max 30min slots

mrssunshinexxx · 15/06/2021 13:16

20 week scan tomorrow can't believe it's finally come round but wow I feel sick already so tomorrow will be even worse!

Knock123 · 15/06/2021 15:22

@mrssunshinexxx ahhhh good luck!! Mine is next Monday just before the cut off at 20+5. Wish I'd asked them for an earlier date, I'm so nervous running through every horrible scenario possible. Have they told you if you need a full bladder? Are you finding out the sex?

mrssunshinexxx · 15/06/2021 18:42

@Knock123 yes they say you need a full bladder but I just have a good drink before I never do the recommended amount it made me too uncomfortable with my first scan last pregnancy and they could see v v clearly and no issues since yes hoping to find out the sex but more apprehensive to know everything ok. They found an abnormality with my daughter at her 20 week scan turns out she only has one kidney which isn't a huge issue but was stressful at the time x

Knock123 · 15/06/2021 18:50

Totally understand your apprehension, glad your little girl is OK. Try to have a nice bedtime wind down tonight so you can have a good sleep and tomorrow will be here before you know it. Fingers crossed all is well, come back and let us know how he/she is tomorrow xx

sparklyblue81 · 15/06/2021 19:35

@mrssunshinexxx good luck 😍 It’s understandable you’re nervous having had worrying news before but at least it’s not much longer to wait now x

mrssunshinexxx · 15/06/2021 20:08

Thank you both @sparklyblue81 @Knock123 I will report back xx

Dinosaurus86 · 15/06/2021 21:22

Thanks @sparklyblue81! I thought I was doing pretty well with the hormones but have had two crying sessions over practically nothing in the last few days...

Good luck with your scans @mrssunshinexxx & @Knock123! I had a private 16 week one and they recommended to drink a pint of water!! I did not because I knew I’d never manage - I just had a fairly big glass and it was totally fine. My 20 week one still seems like an age away.

On the COVID vaccine, I’ve had both of mine (Pfizer) and all seems to be ok. I had them at around week 1 (so not really pregnant yet) and week 13 or 14. I felt achy for a day or so with each, but no serious side effects.

@Roopers - my 16 week was only about 10 minutes but that was on the phone! I was given a 1.5 hour slot where I had to be available for the call.

Knock123 · 16/06/2021 13:44

Thinking of you @mrssunshinexxx hope scan all goes well today xxx

ElmtreeMama · 16/06/2021 16:38

Hello all

I'm 17 weeks today :)

Had my vaccines (astrazeneca at 3 weeks and 16 weeks and all ok so far

Hows everyone coping with heat?

mrssunshinexxx · 16/06/2021 17:28

Thank you @Knock123 thankfully all looks great with baby and I am having another little girl totally thrilled

Roopers · 16/06/2021 17:47

Fab news @mrssunshinexxx !

Thanks for all the tips on midwife appt length - I still feel so new to this! I managed to hear baby's heartbeat which was lovely and my sister then noted that if it gallops like a horse it's a girl and if it sounds like a train it's a boy. Mine sounds like both simultaneously 🤦🏻‍♀️

mrssunshinexxx · 16/06/2021 18:26

@Roopers haha I think it's all a myth are you finding out ? Thank you! X
