Hi everyone, following up from our second thread here.

We’re just about through morning sickness and odd early pregnancy symptoms… what will the second trimester bring?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@Lizlou85

Who woke up this. Morning and thought..... ITS DUE DATE MONTH?
Me too! I've been convinced I'm going into labour all weekend as I've had an upset stomach & almost constant Braxton Hicks but nothing seems to be ramping up yet.

I'm also nesting like crazy, I can't sit still. I've done washing, rearranged the wardrobes & done some batch cooking. I'm absolutely knackered but keep finding things to do 🙈

Me too! Seeing 'pregnant' on the test back in March seems like a lifetime ago! Strange how I spent so long obsessively looking out for signs I was pregnant- now it's signs for baby to be on the way.... just over a week until due date 😬

Lizlou85 · 01/11/2021 19:07

@JackJack84 can I ask what you've batched cook? I have some the bases frozen for spaghetti bolognese/ lasagna mix done, a couple of Shepherds pie bases and some Chilli.
I've got a bit of a wait for my little one, due date November 24th but my gut says November 17th, our wedding anniversary.

JackJack84 · 01/11/2021 19:16

@Lizlou85 I've done pretty much the same really. Made a huge pot of marinara sauce that I can just chuck on pasta, some chilli, shepherds pie & some soups. I know I'm just going to want stodgy comfort foot after eating salad every day on my GD diet.

My due date was the 20th but I'm happy I'm being induced next week, I'm too excited!

marykitty · 02/11/2021 08:38

Today is my due date!!!
But baby still inside, I am a slow cooker.
I am hoping for a VBAC but we are running out of time now, because next week we will need to do an ELCS

Go baby, you can do this Star

Yogity · 02/11/2021 08:42

@marykitty happy due date. Hope baby makes a spontaneous move today!

39 weeks today for me. The end is in sight!

Roopers · 02/11/2021 12:55

How did it get to November already! This pregnancy has whizzed by! Batch cooking is done for me and I've got my section date for 17th. Packing hospital bag today and wondered if I need pre-made baby milk? Im a first time mum and would like to b-feed but know I'll be in for a bit after section. Is this something they have in the ward or should I take my own?

Lizlou85 · 02/11/2021 13:28

@Roopers I'm a First time mum too and I've packed some ready made formula bottles from Cow and Gate. We want to BF but incase my milk doesn't come in or hubby needs to feed little one we're going on the side of caution. I think some hospitals provide it from other threads but not all. The ones we have are dated April 2022 so have a few months to us if not needed right away.

twoofusburningmatches · 02/11/2021 22:23

@Roopers and @Lizlou85 probably worth speaking to your midwife about this. In most cases (but not all) babies don’t need to be fed immediately when born. They can go hours (and hours) without food after birth and be totally fine. Your milk won’t come in for a few days after giving birth - it’ll just be colostrum at the start. And if you have any concerns that you might struggle to feed or if your baby will need to feed soon after birth (such as if you have gestational diabetes) you could consider colostrum harvesting ahead of the birth.

Anyway, I wanted to breastfeed with my first. Had trouble latching. Hadn’t packed any formula (hadn’t even thought to!). When I couldn’t get her to latch, I was encouraged to try hand expressing. Got small amounts but struggled. Staff were really supportive of getting breastfeeding to work. After about 12 hours, the midwife tried a small amount of formula in a cup (rather than a bottle so as not to confuse latch) which the hospital provided. They don’t give formula normally but keep a supply for mothers who are struggling to breastfeed. Soon after my baby latched. And breastfeeding worked out well for us. But I’m very glad the hospital staff were so clued up on cup feeding rather than bottles and were so supportive of me. Your midwife might be able to tell you if there is a supply of formula for when breastfeeding isn’t working.

Jessspeno99 · 03/11/2021 07:31

Just a quick question for everyone! I'm 37+6 with my first and having a membrane sweep today, how likely is it to work? I just want this baby out 😅

Lizlou85 · 03/11/2021 07:34

Thanks @twoofusburningmatches. I live in a town mid way between two hospitals and we have to chose a hospital at our booking in appointment, since then there have been reported issues with the one we've picked and the hospital says speak to your community midwife, I've asked mine but she has been honest and said she only know about the hospital we didn't pick. We want to do mix of BF and bottle so hubby can help with the feeds. I was in hospital on Monday and the midwives forgot I was there Hmm, so would rather have the safety net of some formula just incase.

twoofusburningmatches · 03/11/2021 09:38

@Lizlou85 ah that makes sense if you are planning to mix feed anyway. I was just thinking in terms of hoping to exclusively breastfeed. Sorry to hear you’re having problems with your hospital! NHS care is a right mixed bag at the moment.

twoofusburningmatches · 03/11/2021 09:40

@Jessspeno99 good luck today! I had four sweeps with my first, so am not a good example.

Yogity · 05/11/2021 16:39

How is everyone getting on? I keep checking to see if any more of our early Nov babies have made an appearance.

Had my antenatal appointment today at 39+3. Lost my mucus plug as I went to sort my urine sample and then ended up having elevated BP and a touch of protein in my urine. Spent all day waiting about and doing some BP monitoring. Ultimately consultant advised on an induction tomorrow because he wasn't happy sending me away with just BP meds when I'm practically at my due date (Tues).

Feeling a bit shell-shocked lol. Tomorrow is very soon and that happened very fast. Excited to meet our little girl though! Smile

Katy4321 · 05/11/2021 17:22

@Yogity all the best with starting your induction tomorrow and meeting your LO soon :)

Lizlou85 · 05/11/2021 18:09

@Yogity good luck tomorrow. I'm a little jealous of people getting to meet their LOs. I'm ready now, I've done everything I wanted before he or she arrived. Got midwife on Thursday so will be 38+1 so hope maybe some news.

Yogity · 05/11/2021 18:16

@Katy4321**@Lizlou85
Thank you! Feeling a bit nervous haha

I felt exactly the same @Lizlou85. I had just got my head around "she will be here inside 3 weeks and the plan changed." The last few weeks go so so slowly too. Fingers crossed your LO gets moving soon. Definitely no harm asking at your appointment for a status update!

marykitty · 05/11/2021 18:22

Baby M. Is here! Born today at 40+3 by VBAC 💝
