June 2021 - part 6 - the final push!

We’re coming to the end of our last thread so here is, hopefully, the final instalment of our journeys. I’m going to compile a list of due dates and births from the last thread and I’ll post them below.

Hopefully we’ll have lots more baby announcements on the way! How is everyone doing?

Baby Teddy over here is 5 days old today and keeping me up all night - partly for feeding etc and partly coz I just stare at him

My aches and pains came to nothing. 😭 due date today. Had appointment with MW yesterday. She won’t do a sweep til 41 weeks. Hoping I go naturally before then but I just don’t feel like anything is happening. And this muggy, sticky heat is killing me!

@swiftt I know what you mean. It won't help now but at least we won't be having babies in August!!!

@swiftt ah no that's annoying that they won't do it at 40 weeks at least but fingers crossed you'll go naturally yourself really soon !! It really is the longest wait !! I'm trying to enjoy the time to myself but I'm so over it now and just want baba 🤣

@swiftt when I was 39+5 I woke up in the night with lots of period cramps and it didn’t come to anything either.

I’m 40+2 now and having lots of Braxton Hicks so feel like my body knows it needs to do something at some point but it’s anybody’s guess when 😂

I keep telling myself that every day that goes by is a day closer to meeting baby, whether it’s this week or next (or the week after 🙈)

@swiftt oh no, I was hoping there would be a baby update 😔. Why won’t they do a sweep until 41 weeks? I had one this morning at 40+1 and was told I’m 2-3cm dilated already, so I’m really hoping something happens! But if not then I’ve been added to the induction list from 41 weeks and can have another sweep at 40+6. I hope baby decides to come soon so you don’t have to wait another week!

Due date here too!! I've had 2 failed sweeps but at the midwife later this afternoon so will see what she says. Other than a couple of cramping episodes last week no other signs.
Got my feet up watching trash tv and just playing the waiting game now 😊

It does seem a little late to try a sweep until 41 weeks but then it’s likely to have a higher chance of working. I had a midwife try before 40 weeks and it wasn’t possible and a little painful.

@Humpty11 well, my midwife isn’t a fan of sweeps in general, apparently! But it’s also my health board’s policy not to do them until 41 weeks. Frustrating but hopefully I’ll go spontaneously before then anyway. She said everything else seemed good. Baby’s head is super engaged, so I’m just trying to stay as active as I can over the next few days. 🤞

@swiftt I heard in the playground some mums who were talking about setting labour off and one said ‘my friend went super active in the day and rested only at night’ i thought hrm, i’ll try that one! So today I’ve trimmed garden and got in the veg patch as well washed all the nappies and by gosh, having so many BH 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it works

@AlRRRR Eek! Sounds exciting for you! Fingers crossed they turn into the real deal.

Ive tried being active some days, resting other days. Nothing. Just read something about nipple stimulation whilst on the birthing ball - so thats what ive been doing for last 30 mins and im having BH too! Whether it turns into anything im sure we will find out later haha probably not

@swiftt oh that’s a shame, although speaking to my midwife it sounds a bit hit and miss as to whether they really work. Your body still needs to be on the way to being ready to evict them for it to make any difference, and even then it might still not work 😂. Everything crossed that you’re not waiting too long for some movement!

@AIRRRR that sounds like a very productive day!! I wish I had the motivation for all of that 😂. I went for a 30 minute “fast” walk after lunch and the braxton hicks definitely ramped up, I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t make it back to my car! Saying that I’ll probably be in this same position in another 2 weeks 🥴.

@Humpty11 and @Taylor1896 I’ve been mainly sat in the sofa whilst 4 yr old at nursery school 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So decided today, I’d actually get up and so something 🤣🤣🤣 I have pubic bone pain so didn’t want to aggravate it but today I thought go for it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

but yes doesn’t matter what you do, if your body isn’t ready then labour won’t start 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Taylor1896 My boobs have started smelling like sweet milk! So tried expressing and milk is coming out so I’ll have a go at that for 30 mins but i’ll need a towel as it leaks everywhere 🤣🤣 Never happened with the first baby till 4 days after she was here

I'm trying to be more active but the past rap days I'm exhausted , sleeping so much in the day that I can't sleep at night and last night I had to get up to pee every hour and didn't sleep til 5:30 😭 so trying to be a bit more active today and hopefully will sleep tonight 🤞🤞

Getting so frustrated trying to collect colostrum! Was sitting watching tv earlier and my left boob just started leaking like crazy, of course it all went on my top. So I made myself a nice luke warm bath (I’m beyond hot and clammy at the moment) and tried following step by step. Didn’t even get enough to get anything into a syringe nevermind fill one 😔 I’ve tried several times now and all I end up with is disappointment and sore nipples!!

Oh my sleep is baaaad hahahhaha I usually sleep 12-3/4 🤣🤣

@AlRRRR get some syringes off amazon and collect it, dont let it go to waste! I have about 30 syringes full of colostrum in the freezer as ive been harvesting for a while!

@Normando91 aww it definitely is a technique! Although hand expression shouldnt leave you with sore nipples so id maybe change the way your doing it. Make sure you are squeezing into the breast tissue and not squeezing the nipple. Lots of videos of youtube!

Also I don’t have a freezer either so it wouldn’t last hahaha!

@Taylor1896 Yeah I think you are right. I’ll watch some videos as I’m probably doing it wrong. Just pisses me off that I wake up with my top stuck to my nipples and then when I try to do it, it doesn’t work 🙈😂

@AIRRRR I don’t blame you! We’ve got to enjoy this rest while we can!
How do you not have a freezer?! Where do you put your ice creams?! 😂😂

@Normando91 I kinda do it like a cow gets milk, pull downwards softly to the nipple but from the boob skin 🤣🤣🤣

@Humpty11 hahahaha lots of people are baffled by it, i also don’t own a kettle hahahhahah I don’t drink hot drinks and I guess the ice cream, is if we are outside? Not sure, haven’t ever thought about it! 🤣🤣🤣

38 weeks not sleeping and during the day so uncomfortable with the heat! Wishing I could fast forward two weeks!!!
