We’re coming to the end of our last thread so here is, hopefully, the final instalment of our journeys. I’m going to compile a list of due dates and births from the last thread and I’ll post them below.

Hopefully we’ll have lots more baby announcements on the way! How is everyone doing?

I had my 8 lb 8 oz baby daughter a couple days ago at 40+3. 26 hours from first identifiable contractions to birth. When I was fully dilated the baby got stuck and I laboured in vain for 2 hours 40 minutes with frustrated midwives until I got hysterical and desperate and decided to try a vertical birth via a special chair. With the help of gravity the baby was out in three or four pushes! I had a second degree tear and think I was lucky. I had an epidural at some point, as well as oxytocin at the end and happy with that decision. My baby is a love. Good luck to the rest of us June mamas! Labor dust to all of the due ladies!

Waitingforbabypage · 08/06/2021 17:32

I feel like an absolute failure. Had a pessary induction yesterday, contracted all night and all of today- no pain relief except cocodamol as im only on an antenatal ward not a labour ward and I haven't progressed at all.
My cervix is softer, she could break my waters- but hasn't. I feel like im dying- sorry to be dramatic.

AlRRRR · 08/06/2021 18:37

@Waitingforbabypage Have they said why they won’t break the waters? I know I was stuck at 4cm for 24 hours with 1st and they finally broke the waters and she came 2 hours later!

AlRRRR · 08/06/2021 18:38

@anniebu congrats!!!

AlRRRR · 08/06/2021 18:40

@TerryRose Yep, lots of white discharge! The plug is very different, think blob of snot, either clear or blood stained :)

Sitchervice · 08/06/2021 19:17

@AlRRRR @TerryRose actually I've just read that not everyone notices their plug go and sometimes it comes out in bits rather than a blob!

Nesski · 08/06/2021 19:18

@Taylor1896 @TerryRose @swiftt same about the discharge, may need to move to needing pantiliners soon!

Nesski · 08/06/2021 19:21

@anniebu congratulations!!

@Waitingforbabypage have they discussed next steps? If it's going to be a marathon then take the epidural!! (If it's something you're happy to do)

swiftt · 08/06/2021 19:22

@Nesski oh god, I’ve needed liners since about 20 weeks! 🙈

AlRRRR · 08/06/2021 19:54

@Sitchervice yes that’s right :) It can also be easily missed

Waitingforbabypage · 08/06/2021 20:01

I honestly have no idea what the plan is.
But I can't have another night like last night and today. The midwife is so vague, I just want them to send me to labour ward and give me some pain relief! I cannot cope.

Sitchervice · 08/06/2021 20:05

@AlRRRR I keep watching out for it and then I have to remind my self I might miss it anyway 😳

Sitchervice · 08/06/2021 20:06

@Waitingforbabypage don't be gentle with them if your in pain.

swiftt · 08/06/2021 20:16

@Waitingforbabypage you are absolutely not a failure. It sounds so, so tough. Is your partner with you at least? Do you feel able to push for more pain relief, or can you ask your partner to advocate for you if you need to? Being so stressed out doesn’t sound conducive to labour at all, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to not know what’s going on or what their plan is for you either. Thinking of you. @Waitingforbabypage you sound like an absolute trooper. You are completely within your rights to ask what the management plan is. Have you got someone with you?
Keeping my fingers crossed for you to have a speedy birth from now x

Waitingforbabypage · 08/06/2021 20:20

Partner isn't allowed in until I'm in established labour so I've been on my own since 8.30 yesterday morning.
I can't do this anymore

AlRRRR · 08/06/2021 20:46

@Waitingforbabypage Oh my word, no partner allowed till established labour, I thought that had all ended???? Poor love, Are you having contractions and they won’t move you to labour ward?

Scarftown · 08/06/2021 21:25

@Waitingforbabypage

That sounds terrible. Hopefully things get moving soon and you can have drugs and your partner with you. It’s the same at my hospital he can’t come til I’m 4cm at least and established labour.

I did a stupid thing today and now hoping the baby gives me a few more days before it comes. Twisted/sprained both my ankles. I rolled one and then to stop myself falling on the bump put the other down and it just gave away too. Both lovely and swollen but I don’t think broken. I can stand on them and went to get checked and baby was non fussed by it all so I’m now now walking until I have to. But my lovely mobile labour might be out of the window.

TerryRose · 08/06/2021 22:14

@Waitingforbabypage that sounds horrific , do not be afraid or embarrassed to kick up a fuss and be heard , take the pain relief if you feel comfortable . It's a crying shame that your partner isn't allowed in with you . Hope you have a better night tonight .

Nesski · 08/06/2021 22:37

@Scarftown Sad when are you due?

Scarftown · 08/06/2021 22:38

@Nesski Sunday.

Nesski · 08/06/2021 22:40

@Scarftown fingers crossed you get that mobility back before then, plenty of time so take it easy! We really do live up to our name (pregnancy clumsiness that is!)

Normando91 · 08/06/2021 23:16

@Waitingforbabypage I hope you get some relief soon and your partner is allowed in… absolutely ridiculous that’s still a thing!!!

@Scarftown Oh dear, I hope you’re ok. I had a fall a couple weeks back and buggered my ankle and wrist ensuring I didn’t hit the bump.

Question ladies… I am ridiculously itchy!!! It’s not localised to hands and feet, it’s EVERYWHERE, though I’d say mainly soles of feet, scalp and arms. I haven’t changed washing powder or shower gel. Have used bath cream but not anything new. It’s only been the past two days but tonight I’m ready to pull my hair out with it 😭 I have an appointment with midwife tomorrow, do you think they’ll do a blood test?! I made the mistake of googling it and now I’m worrying myself!

swiftt · 08/06/2021 23:44

@Normando91 definitely mention to your midwife as I think they’d want to do a blood test for cholestasis.

Checking in on the new thread! Love seeing all the new babies arriving. Soo many early as well. Typical for me I'll no doubt go past my due date on Friday 🤣
