Anyone else coming towards the end of their pregnancy?

Thought it would be nice to have a thread going for those in the final stretch

Starting to analyse every little twinge now. Knicker checking every time I use the loo like the early days. Braxton hicks every night too. Wondering how much longer I’ll be! This is my last pregnancy so I’m in no rush for it to end, but at the same time can’t wait to meet little one. 37+3 today!

How are you feeling?

Me! I'm 39+4 and starting to go a bit crazy now. BH every night, period style pains, leg cramps...last night I thought it was beginning, but it seems it was just the baby headbutting my cervix.

You must be knackered with having other DC, too! All I've got is a smelly dog and grumpy cat, and they're bad enough!

I'm 39+4 too. So much underwear checking but no other signs. Some aches but who knows if it is just from having this bump.

Had funny movements last week and they tried to induce me that night! Baby was back to moving well so I decided to wait for a spontaneous.

Are these your first babies too?

Excited not to the pregnant but trying not to be impatient for baby. I'm sure that will get harder once the due date passes...

Hmm I’m wondering if you are describing the infamous ‘lightning crotch’? A delightful part of late pregnancy I must say. A good sign nevertheless as it means baby’s head is in the right place!

I’m 35+whatever and baby is being born by section bang on 37 weeks on the 20th! I’m so so so glad I don’t have to go to 39 weeks (aside from worry about baby etc but we’re being very closely monitored and cared for!)

This is my second and can’t wait to meet him!

@PowPurry lightening crotch is very polite! I called them fanny daggers with my first 😂

Me it's my due date tomorrow, been having on off period pains for weeks, don't think she's ever coming.

I'm with you on the knicker watch, even worse now then when I first found out i was pregnant.

Urm, no this is , DC4. And last for me!
First pregnancy is definitely the longest, especially these last weeks. Once you’ve had a few, pregnancy feels approximately 27 days long. It goes by so quickly!

Don’t fret too much about the lack of signs also, 1 + 3 were spontaneous, and the only thing I can clearly remember having was (tmi) lots of loose toilet visits in the day or two before labour kicked off.

@flappityflippers1 yes that may be a better description! They have been very intense with this one. I’ve actually been too scared to move at times, as it literally feels like my waters are going to go and he’s just going to come out there and then. Makes DH and DC laugh anyway.

@ew1990 how exciting! And don’t panic, she’ll definitely come out one way or the other

Yes! I think that's exactly what this is! Always starts right after dinner, too, so heartburn has now been replaced with rolling around the couch and grabbing my crotch. So dignified and sexy!

I feel awful saying it because it's all so uncomfortable, but I'm so glad it's not just me going through it all! Makes me feel less like an alien! 😂

@FolkyFoxFace yes, pregnancy is the absolute height of grace and decorum. I don’t tend to have it sat down, it’ll take me by surprise as I’m casually walking upstairs, cooking, or just generally minding my own business when all of a sudden I’ll throw my head back, cross my legs and shout “Aaahhhjjjhghhj”.. or something along those lines. Then just as soon as it appears it buggers off and life resumes as it was 4 seconds previously.

Well yes, I’ve been keeping an eye out for a late pregnancy thread, and thought sod it I’ll make my own. There’s lot to talk about in these last weeks!

I'm glad you say that because at the moment I feel like this will be an only child based on pregnancy being a drag!

Did your other children arrive before 42 weeks?

Oh, that's a very familiar description! I'm firmly starting to believe that babies do this to specifically keep us on our toes. If we're looking a bit too distracted or comfortable - boom! 😂 DH finds the passing of it so strange. He doesn't understand how I can be a wailing banshee one second and then eating Aero the next!

There definitely is! Did you go all the way to due date with your previous DC? I'm starting to hate seeing it on the calendar now. I was convinced I'd be early and now I realise that there's not a chance! 😂

I'm 37+2 today with number 3. It was a surprise pregnancy and to be honest it's taken until about now for me to get used to the idea!

Got an elective section booked for next Wednesday and very excited now. After two hard births previously, I'm hoping for a calmer experience this time. Feel like I just want to soak up this last baby and do things my way, with confidence. Looking forward to this unexpected chapter!

Hi all. 38+5 with my first baby.
Don't think there's any real signs he's ready to come, but really wish he'd hurry up!
Bump gets a bit sore now, and aches between the legs...but actually less sore than a few weeks ago!

Totally looking for any sign things may start!

Oh i know, I've got a 3 year old DDbut was induced with her so don't know what signs to look out for, I've just got Into the mindset that I've got 2 week left now and earlier is a a bonus

Hi! I'm 40+5 tomorrow and I've had enough! DD was born at 42+2 so I guess another late one is to be expected! I'm desperately looking for signs. I had a day and night if cramping a couple of days ago but it's all gone now 😫😫🤞 it's soon!

Has anyone given any of the old wives tales a go yet? I know they're all probably a load of nonsense, and baby comes when baby comes, but I might start trying some to entertain myself soon!

Had a curry last Saturday which did precisely nothing. He seemed to get more active after a bowl of boring soup tonight. 😂 My midwife suggested yoga ball bouncing, which has been fun. No idea if this actually does anything though! The only thing that seems to genuinely do anything so far is nipple stimulation/expressing colostrum! However, I don't have nipples of steel so won't be doing that for 3 hours a day... 😂

Hi, I'm 38+6 and being induced tomorrow! Due to a not so straight forward pregnancy and an episode of reduced movements earlier in the week. My bump is so low I can't sit up properly now and lightning crotch is my worst enemy. I've been cramping and had bad back pains for a couple of days now so been hoping everyday I'd go into labour naturally.
Also on knicker watch, has to start wearing a pad since I could be wandering around and feel a peculiar sensation then have to waddle to the bathroom.
Been loosing my plug for over a week now so I think they are definitely ready to come as its head is very low down and all other signs.
Been eating curries, bouncing on ball, walking, yoga and luckily my husband still has sex with me but nothing has urged it on as yet.

I’m 37+4 and constantly on labour watch. I was induced with DS at 38 weeks so never had any signs before that so have no idea what to look out for to be honest!

Poor DS is either plonked in front of the TV for most of the day or bundled off to my mums, anything I do causes me pain and have no energy, definitely ready for this baby to arrive!

@serialplanner in fairness they have been punctual, due date, and number 2 was induced due to ore eclampsia at around 39w, arriving at 39+4 I think.

@FolkyFoxFace my ball was delivered yesterday, and I used it with all the others too. However DH says I’m not to try and get him out just yet, he has time booked off work and we have it all planned out nicely with the Easter break. It’ll mess his time off if he comes in the next week

@Glowz aaah no way! My induction was long, but fine. I did opt for an epidural, however it didn’t work properly I could feel all the contractions but not the pushing strangely. Which suited me as it was the pushing with DC1 that was the worst for me. Maybe your hospital won’t let you walk around with the restrictions, so definitely make use of a ball. Good luck and keep us updated if you can!

Hi @calimommy! How are you feeling? I’m a bit nervous about throwing a newborn into the mad mix, but the general consensus is number 4 just ‘slots in’ so I’m holding on to that!

@Jasmine9835 we have the same due date! What was the induction for last time? And don’t worry about that, it’s a short time now. And we can make up for it with the nice spring weather with lots of nice walks.

I am 37 weeks tomorrow. First baby...
No sign of anything... never had BH or leaky boobs or seen mucus plug.
I think i had a few episodes of lightening crotch but it has stopped now.

I bounce on the ball and drink a cup of raspberry leaf tea every other day. (Cant be bothered daily!!)

Exciting for the ones nearing their due date/ having induction or c sec soon though! Will be following closely 😊

@PowPurry due date buddies! Yes very hopeful for some good weather once the baby is here to get out of the house, or even just out in the garden!

I had an episode of reduced movements last time and they did a doppler scan and found very reduced blood flow to the brain so they decided to induce me then and there with the drip. Didn’t really take it all in at the time as I’d had such an uneventful pregnancy up until then! DS was born with the cord wrapped around his neck a few times so I’m assuming that was the reason for the reduced movements, nobody really explained anything to me afterwards, just grateful he arrived safely and is healthy!

I’ve been a bit over cautious this time around with reduced movements as I don’t want the same thing to happen again so I think that’s also added some stress to this pregnancy.

@Jasmine9835 oh wow that is frightening. This one has caused me similar stress. I went in for reduced movements at 34 weeks and they actually admitted me as he was very quiet. Had a scan and he picked up again then but I’ve been so anxious about it all.
