@Sceptre86 yes we did! My eldest who was rooting for a boy was over the moon, my youngest had the most classic reaction of shock following by lots of tears. She really wanted another sister 🤣

@mumof23188 congrats on your baby boy! Yes I fall asleep most nights when putting my kids to bed and then end up awake at silly o clock like now. Definitely haven’t reached the peak second trimester energy and glow!

@cheryllw @maybebaby29 thanks ladies, glad to know it isn't just me.
@sceptre86 we are keeping it a simple very pale green and getting some transfer stickers to put on, deciding which is a tricky!
@mumof23188 I am always exhausted nowadays, poor DH, our sex life has jumped on a plane and taken a long holiday 🙄

FTEngineerM · 25/03/2021 06:54

It’s quite reassuring to see some are up at silly times too 😍. We’ve been up since 6 so not too bad but had a decent night so can’t complain.

Glad you got antibiotics @Noodles4Me

Congratulations on the baby boy @mumof23188

I can’t remember who mention it but the pulling sensation, ah yes!!, k have it with vengeance. Also @Bubbles1st my sciatica is back, I think I over did the spring clean yesterday. How he yours been?

FTEngineerM · 25/03/2021 06:55

Also congrats @Geegee20 and @Scotti84 on the scans.

Bubbles1st · 25/03/2021 07:42

@FTEngineerM my sciatica is definitely triggered by being in my feet all day. I'm a dog groomer and we have only been open a a couple days a week due to the lockdown restrictions but they are lifted for us from Monday so it's going to get more frequent for sure.

However it is predictable- once I've laid down and then get up or or move that is when it hits. I haven't had any issues during the day. Maybe stretching at the end of the day would help before it hurts me.

Does yours have a pattern?

unicornpower · 25/03/2021 08:13

Oh we do have a very boy heavy thread don't we! How exciting! Need some girls to even it out now haha there def seems to be a boy boom, I know a few people who have had babies recently and they're all boys- my 20 week scan is like 6 weeks away so I've got ages left to go to find out haha

FTEngineerM · 25/03/2021 08:22

@unicornpower yep, lots of boys Smile I’m excited to find out too. I don’t mind either way, this will be the last though, if it’s another boy I’m totally overrun in the house😂.

@Bubbles1st it’s like you wrote that for me! It was awful last night, Weather was crap so I gutted the house and then led down in the evening and there it is like lightening😬. Stretches are a good shout, I’ll try them tonight before lying down. I hope this doesn’t last the whole way Sad

Bubbles1st · 25/03/2021 08:23

@unicornpower I dreamt I had a girl last night... pretty sure it's a boy though! 4.5 weeks until we find out DP still not budging on a gender scan

Scotti84 · 25/03/2021 08:23

Anyone got any ideas how I can make OH feel more involved? It's starting to get to him that he's not allowed to any scans and as this this our first its obviously hard on him. He's not complaining about it but I can tell its bothering him. I looked for private scans but our government have banned all scans that aren't medically relevant because of corona so I can't even book something something that. I've got the 20 week scan in Munich next week, big clinic with fancy machines, they have also a no partner policy but I'm going to try and get them to let him in. He gets tested twice a week for work so we are sure he is negative. I dont want this to cast a shadow over the whole pregnancy for him.

Bubbles1st · 25/03/2021 08:26

@FTEngineerM I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think it gets worse as baby gets bigger and outs more pressure on the nerve.

I guess the further a long we get we just need to try and do less. I've been really busy on my days off but not really on my feet much and been ok. So I'm quite happy to at least know the trigger now. Plus I love my pregnancy pillow and it's reducing any other hip pain so just keeping fingers crossed nothing too much changes!

Kirky658 · 25/03/2021 08:26

There are lots of boys on this thread! Everyone I know lately has had a boy recently too so I'm so hoping for a girl ❤️ got more girl names than boy names haha.

@bubbles1st @ftengineerm my sciatica has been awful too. I am a bit subsceptible to it because of my endo so I try and get my resistance bands out and do leg raises and clamshells. I have also found that my pregnancy pillow helps a lot too!

I treated myself to a coffee this morning, omg it tasted amazing. I've been on decaff tea but I've ran out. Been buying clipper but it's so pricey, the only reason is because I read its the only tea they decaffinate without using nasty chemicals.

Bubbles1st · 25/03/2021 08:29

@Scotti84 is such a shame when partners are not allowed. Are you allowed to film the scan? Are you finding out the sex? You could do a special reveal just for him afterwards so it's memorial and exciting for him.

Although difficult try not to get to excited in front of him until them to keep reminding him he is allowed. Lee conversations on plans you can both be involved with.

Get him talking to baby and bonding with bump.

Just some ideas.

FTEngineerM · 25/03/2021 08:35

@Scotti84 I enlisted DP to slather me in oil last time to avoid stretch marks, belly hips and boobs, needless to say he did it without question and got to feel as my body changed shape. That sucks they don’t allow him to come, do they take videos at the scans or just pictures?

@Bubbles1st uh oh, I better chill out then I don’t want this every day 😞. Always my right but cheek too.

@Kirky658 do the resistance bands make a big difference? I’ll get one if so, I did a lot yesterday but no more than I would in normal times like if we weren’t in lockdown. I know what you mean with girl names, I don’t know why but I’ve only thought of girl names. Everyone looked at the scan and said girl too which hasn’t helped. Find out next weekend 🥳

Still not told work 🤦🏽‍♀️ Nearly 16 weeks too

Kirky658 · 25/03/2021 08:40

@ftengineerm I have to say for me they really help. I try and do x 3 days a week, x 3 sets of 15 raises and x 3 sets of clamshells each leg. It kills my glutes but feels a lot better after, and stops my knee aching while I run too.

I was meant to go running last night with DH but just felt too knackered, after we'd been to the dentist. I think I might sneak out at lunchtime while I'm still feeling relatively full of energy!

Can I ask a personal question ladies. Are you all still having sex regularly? I feel a bit sorry for my DH because I just don't have any drive at all, I'm so tired. Says he doesn't mind, he'd rather wait till I'm ready but I still feel guilty.

Wow we will need a new thread soon on page 39!

mumof23188 · 25/03/2021 08:46

@Mamabearwhere thank you 💙. Yes I’m just so tired this time. Might be because my toddler is running me ragged all day 🤣. My DD is great bless her. She’s excited to have another baby brother.

@FTEngineerM thank you ☺️

@Kirky658 I feel sorry for my OH too! My sex drive is non existent and I don’t even see him in the evenings anymore 🤣. He’s lucky to get it once a week atm and he has such a high sex drive. Previous pregnancies my sex drive has been normal and we DTD all the way through but this time I just can’t be bothered as I’m so tired!

FTEngineerM · 25/03/2021 08:47

Ooooo thank you I’ll give those a go, I don’t actually do any exercises other than walking the dog so I probably should anyway.

No absolutely not😂, first few weeks we were having sex alot but now absolutely nothing. Doesn’t help that fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow these days.

mumof23188 · 25/03/2021 08:48

Boy boom 💙. How many of us are having boys? I find boys names so hard!! Took us so long to name our DS. With my DD I found it so easy as there’s so many beautiful names.

Bubbles1st · 25/03/2021 09:00

@Kirky658 actual maybe once a fortnight at the minute, but lots of stuff in between to keep us happy. I think it will get to the point where I will literally tell him to leave me alone as already I find my stomach so uncomfortable for so much so making the most of it. However I just seem so nervous of actual sex even though everywhere tells you it's perfectly safe. I mean does it have to be super gentle or can it be normal? I don't know, just stresses me out and then puts me off!

Scotti84 · 25/03/2021 09:01

@Bubbles1st Thank you! I'm.open to any ideas!

I asked the dr if I could film it but he said no because if there is some problem with the baby that he somehow missed and it'd evident on the video of the scan then I could sue him. I understand the reason but its so frustrating. I do keep my excitement toned down, tbh I'm more nervous at the scans until i know everything's OK but I do try and keep it in, whatever feeling.

We found out the gender on Tuesday, he wanted to know straight away so I got the doc to write it on a bit of paper so we could open it together.

That's not a bad idea @FTEngineerM, sure he'd love that. We've also not really been DTD too much, he's working long hours so we're both knackered through the week so that's out. I feel bad for it but he's understanding, the poor fella is dealing with a lot atm.

@mumof23188 we were the other way, had a boys name all set and took us ages to think of a girls name. Theres loads of nice English ones but we live in Germany and she will have German and English relatives so we wanted a name that would be spoken the same in both languages... easier said than done but we have finally found one. Just disagreeing on the spelling now, in England where names end with a y over here they use an i but it just looks unfinished to me 😅

leftitlate37 · 25/03/2021 09:07

@Kirky658 - erm no!!! to start with too paranoid after previous loss which i know is unrelated but was so panicked. Now, his snoring annoys me so we spend half the week in diff rooms so we dont drive each other up the wall! then at night he;s tired, and in morning its far too light for my liking with a changing body!!! @Bubbles1st your last 2 sentences - EXACTLY that!!! stresses me out too and puts me off, im so nervous!! maybe just need to bite the bullet....!
in case anyone interested i found these exercises which are for SPD, but im trying to do them just generally to try and prevent too much pain and get some strength in lower halfpostpartumtrainer.com/exercises-for-spd/
16 wk appt today and then private scan saturday, kinda think gotta be a girl to even it up on here right?! but been a load of girls at work, then most of my friends and family have boys....who knows eh!

Mamabearwhere · 25/03/2021 09:09

Ah my sex drive was ZERO up until my nausea and sickness got better a couple of week ago. We had no sex for like 7 weeks. Since feeling better it seems to have gone higher than usual for me. Thankfully the kids are at school and we work from home so we tend to dtd during daytime as evenings I’m shattered and asleep early. Spices things up I guess to take a break from our desks mid morning ☺️

@Bubbles1st you really don’t need to worry or be more gentle than during normal sex. Just do what’s comfortable.

OP posts:
Kirky658 · 25/03/2021 09:40

@mamabearwhere love the idea of mid morning loving!!! DH is a teacher and finishes early on wednesdays so that's normally our DTD day but yesterday we were just so shattered.

I think I just feel bad because obviously to ttc it was every other day now its once a week at best 🙄🤣 ah well. I can't help if I don't feel like it a guess. There's also a part of me @bubbles1st that worries about hurting the baby even though I know it's completely impossible! I just can't seem to get comfy now lol.

Noodles4Me · 25/03/2021 09:41

Me and OH still have sex most days. We are going to see if his GP will test him for Strep B too as I don't want re-infecting. Guess then it'll be condoms.

bluemagicalsky · 25/03/2021 10:02

Congrats to everyone finding out gender and on the recent scans. So jealous. I've got just over 6 weeks to find out although I'm fairly sure it's a girl.
Terrified of DTD! I know it's so irrational. Must try harder to get over this as feeling terrible for DH. I'm starting to feel a little be more like myself again which is such a relief. Time to start building myself back up with lunch time walks and some jobs around the house. I'd also like to start some sort of gentle workouts.
The warmer weather and sunshine is helping to lift my spirits too ☺️ I hope that everyone's nausea has lifted/starting to lift. It's made such a difference to my mental state!

Sceptre86 · 25/03/2021 10:23

@Kirky658 we used transfers when I did the nursery for my son and I love them. Really easy to apply and they look great. Plus they don't mark the walls as you change up the room. I'm the opposite regards to sex, I'm not usually that interested in the third trimester so dh is super happy right now as I am rampant🙊.
@Mamabearwhere must have been so precious to see your eldest so excited. Hopefully your younger dd will come around to having a baby brother soon.
@mumof23188 if I don't have a power nap in the afternoon I fall asleep very early and then am up at stupid o'clock.
@Scotti84 I get dh to lather my bump in bio oil every evening. He gives me a massage once a week and quite often talks to baby. I think once your dh will be able.to feel baby's movements it will bring them that much closer. Just remember to keep him in the loop with regards to your appointments. This is the first time my dh hasn't been able to come to my midwife appointments so he asks me a lot of questions.
