My youngest didn’t settle in a Moses basket at all he wanted to sleep on or next to me so I got a next 2 me crib for the side of the bed! Best money I ever spent. I spent a few nights before hand tho sleeping with his bottom sheet in my bed so when I moved him it had my smell on 🙈

Hello lovely ladies! Hope you are okay with me joining the thread. I am 17w+2 and have been following your chat for a little while (in fact, I am still catching up with Thread 1 and 2!)

Have a quick question for you. I had my "16 week" appt this morning. My colleague who is also pregnant but due in July told me they would listen to baby's heartbeat with a doppler. My midwife didn't even mention it. In fact, the appt was very rushed and I got a feeling she was trying to get it over with as soon as possible. So I didn't say anything which I now regret!

Have any of you had it done at the 16w appt? Or does it happen later?

Squibble84 · 22/03/2021 19:03

@Maybebaby29 yes I forgot I did that! I used to put my T-shirt under her to tempt her into the cot! 😂 didn’t work unfortunately, the best thing I found for daytime sleeping was the sleepyhead, I wish I’d purchased it earlier as she loved it!

Squibble84 · 22/03/2021 19:05

@deedeebythesea welcome and congrats! I didn’t have the Doppler at my 16 week appointment either, the midwife said they don’t do it anymore due to covid! 🤷‍♀️ I think some people have had it though so it probably depends on your area x

AdventuresAwait · 22/03/2021 19:05

@Maybebaby29, I've got my 16 week appointment this Friday and a gender scan next Friday!

la1921 · 22/03/2021 19:19

@deedeebythesea I am in Northern Ireland and I had my 16 week appointment by phone last week.... I thought that was a bit pointless as I’d had a thorough chat at booking but the midwife explained that they used to do the booking appointment much earlier at about 8/9 weeks and then see you at 16 but now booking is about 12-13 weeks so she said for the last few years the 16 week appointment has been a little redundant so that’s why over here it was the obvious one to be scaled back to basically just a chat due to Covid. I know everywhere is different but i felt like at least I understood the reasoning.... my next appointment is 20 week scan but they won’t do BP or anything so will see the midwife at 25weeks then for a proper check up! This is my second baby and it definitely feels very different to last time!

Noodles4Me · 22/03/2021 19:26

I had my 16 week (17+5) appointment and they did listen to heartbeat and all good.

I've got protein in my wee, anyone else had this? Trying not to panic

Squibble84 · 22/03/2021 19:32

@Noodles4Me aw lovely you got to hear the heartbeat! 💖

I’ve not had that, did they explain what that means if you have protein in your wee? I thought when they do the pee stick, it was checking for utis?

Maybebaby29 · 22/03/2021 19:36

When I spoke to my midwife she said they’d listen to the heartbeat at my appointment which is next week! Unless they’ve changed their mind, I saw a stand in midwife too so maybe depends what midwife you get?
How long did it take peoples screening letter to come back? I had my scan on the 10th and I still haven’t had my letter

Maybebaby29 · 22/03/2021 19:37

@AdventuresAwait exciting! Seems to going quite fast all of a sudden! Looking forward to seeing what everyone is having. A lot of boys at the minute. I think mines a boy x

Kirky658 · 22/03/2021 19:49

@Noodles4Me try not to panic too much, it is one of the markers for pre eclampsia risk so they might put you on some aspirin to lower your chances. Xx

Kirky658 · 22/03/2021 19:49

@maybebaby29 my 16 week check is next week too. I got my letter about 10 days after my scan xx

CherylLW · 22/03/2021 21:22

16 week (16+6) Midwife appointment this Thursday and private scan on Saturday... I’m starting to feel those nerves all over again from my previous scans!! I think it will forever be nerve wracking until I have that small one in my arms and then there will be loads more to worry about 🤦🏻‍♀️🙈

AdventuresAwait · 22/03/2021 22:10

@Maybebaby29, yes it does seem to be going faster now! I think I'm having a girl but only going by nubtech and just my own feeling/ guess (but we'll find out on the 2nd hopefully!) Xx

Kirky658 · 23/03/2021 06:26

Hello @deedeebythesea, welcome ❤️👋

FTEngineerM · 23/03/2021 06:42

Congrats @deedeebythesea my new 16 week appt was by phone so no listening to heart beat unfortunately ☹️ I hope that will come later though.

bewitchingnight · 23/03/2021 08:20

@Maybebaby29 my screening letter took exactly two weeks to arrive, it was a long wait!

Scotti84 · 23/03/2021 08:52

Kirky658 · 23/03/2021 11:30

Hey ladies, those of you taking aspirin, ive just picked mine up and I'm on 75mg twice a day. I just had a random thought if it would be OK to keep taking pregnacare alongside them, my midwife didn't mention anything but wondered if you were all still taking pregnacare? Xx
