Hey :)
My appointment lasted about an hour and half in total. Bloods took and urine sample. The longed bit was the booking in being asked about 200 questions lol. Husband was allowed into scan but had to go after that x

Mamabearwhere · 06/03/2021 05:18

This insomnia/night anxiety is not getting any better. 5am and I’ve been up since 3 worrying about everything and anything such as what if having 3 is even the right choice, what if something is wrong, what if I get postnatal depression again, what if what if what if. Anyone else?

MrsTD88 · 06/03/2021 06:46

@Mamabearwhere me too! As soon as I wake up in the night for a pee my mind starts to wander. I've taken to just getting up and laying on the sofa with the telly on instead of lying in bed staring at the ceiling. Sometimes the background noise helps me calm down a little and fall back asleep.

FTEngineerM · 06/03/2021 07:17

@Mamabearwhere not at 3am but I did cry last night before bed that I’m not spending as much time with DC because if feel so sick all the bloody time now😢 he’s so fun at the minute too and he didn’t ask for this. Pregnancy hormones do such crazy things to you!

Is it worth chatting with your midwife if you’re up every night? You must be knackered Sad

Sceptre86 · 06/03/2021 07:22

@Mamabearwhere I feel the exact same. My older two are actually super excited about the baby but I can't help think yet again I have crap timing. The baby is due two weeks after my dd starts primary school. I am worried about the upheaval it will cause her, she is a very sweet shy little girl and I am concerned about how she will find a long day and whether she will make friends. Also concerned how I will support her when I have a newborn, her brother and most likely recovery from a 3rd section to deal with.

I think it is just our minds being overactive at the moment and we probably shouldn't stress about things that haven't happened yet but it is easier said than done.

Bubbles1st · 06/03/2021 08:12

@Mamabearwhere I was awake at 5am
Scouring the forums about being high risk for chromosomes abnormalities but having healthy baby. I haven't even got my results yet, but I'm in that waiting game of - well will be a phone call if high risk, so flinching every time the phone rings to could be two weeks before a letter confirming low risk.
I thought I would feel great after 12 week scan but no, not yet.

Then I remembered the midwife booked my 16 week appt for 17 weeks and that because I'm dated further along I'll be nearly 18 weeks. Is that ok, or do I need to be 16 weeks for a reason?!?

Sometimes I fall back asleep, other times I don't.

I find listening to adult bedtime stories on YouTube help, I rarely get past the five minutes! They are almost hypnotic

Mamabearwhere · 06/03/2021 08:22

Thanks ladies. Feel better knowing I’m not alone. Must be the hormones because rationally I have nothing to worry about, the pregnancy was wanted and planned for so long. Older DC will be in school full time (hopefully no more lockdowns) and I’ll get more time with the baby alone rather than trying to juggle two tiny toddlers that made me get super tired and anxious and ultimately depressed last time round. The age gap helps here I suppose. I also started thinking about the labour and what if something goes wrong! So when I write it down I know I’m being irrational thinking about all these things.

@FTEngineerM yes I think I will mention it to my midwife next time I see her. I am shattered and feel like I have a newborn already with the lack of sleep. Nodded off at 6:15 before my older dd woke up for the day.

@Chica1990 I'm feeling okay thank you love, still nauseous alot and eating small amounts (unless its McDonald's) but I do feel better! The sickness gets worse in the evening so I go to bed and just try and sleep through it but hopefully coming out of it now. 12w scan next week yelp! Hkw are you?

FTEngineerM · 06/03/2021 09:12

@unicornpower same!! I could have written that. Stodgy food and relentless evening sickness. How many weeks are you?

unicornpower · 06/03/2021 09:48

@FTEngineerM I'm 11+5 now! It's gone so slowly but definitely ready to eat normally again, I really want a roast dinner that I will enjoy and know it will stay down! Im not there yet though Grin

Rach921 · 06/03/2021 09:56

@Mamabearwhere I’ve been exactly the same. I’ve never been a great sleeper but since I’ve been pregnant it’s been so much worse and my anxiety is through the roof. I’ve always been an anxious person, and have taken meds on and off for years to help with that and sleep. I mentioned it at my booking appointment and they’ve referred me to the perinatal team just to keep an extra eye on me to make sure I’m coping and am ok. Not sure if anyone else has had this before? This is my first so it’s all new to me! But I’d rather know I have the extra support there as historically can suffer with anxiety and depression if things get too much

@unicornpower I’m the same with the sickness. I’ve managed to get control of it during the days now and feel so much better than I did a few weeks ago, but I get to around 6 and I bloat so much and feel so sick. I want to be able to eat normal healthy food that isn’t beige 😂 x

SP2Bx · 06/03/2021 10:02

Oh I feel for you all not sleeping, I’m thankfully not at that stage yet but have no doubt it will come!

I am SO pleased to hear it’s not just me on the beige, stodgy food 😂 All I want is like quite plain carbs. I used to eat HUGE portions, now I get a couple of forkfuls in and I’m done, not cause I feel sick just cause I’m so full!

My sickness is the opposite, from the moment I wake up I feel super nauseous, and I’m physically sick every morning before 12 without fail. It then seems to ease off throughout the day ago just the odd wave of nausea.

Isn’t it funny how everyone is different!

Taybz · 06/03/2021 10:43

Morning everyone! Hope you're all well. Ive been away and just seen all your lovely scans from the other thread! 😊 Mine's coming up early next week and I've turned myself into a bag of nerves 😬

How did you all stay sane before the big 12wk scan? I'm normally a very positive person but can't help all the crazy negative thoughts and worries entering my mind. Also doesn't help that my hospital have once again refused for my partner to come in with me.

KHR1 · 06/03/2021 12:31

@Rach921 I suffer from anxiety and ocd and my midwife has asked me to self-refer to the perinatal team as she was concerned about how on edge I was at my booking appointment. I never really mentioned it during my last pregnancy and haven't seen anyone about it before so don't know what to expect! I've been putting off the phone call for weeks.

@taybz the wait for the 12 week scan is hard, good luck for it next week, hope it goes well! I know safety of the hospital staff is so important but it's unfair that some areas are letting partners in and others aren't. Hope their rules change soon so that helpfully someone can come with you to the 20 week scan

CherylLW · 06/03/2021 13:28

@Bubbles1st regarding the 16 week appointment with the midwife... mine is booked for 17+2 and I would say that’s normal. I was told that there is a few weeks flexibility in scans and also appointments 😊

Bubbles1st · 06/03/2021 13:34

@CherylLW yeah I asked my friend who recently used the same hospital as me and she said it should be ok. I have a consultant appt next week so I will just double check with them.

Squibble84 · 06/03/2021 15:28

@Mamabearwhere sorry you’ve been having anxiety, I definitely worry more when I wake up in the middle of the night and there’s nothing to distract me! It’s definitely a good idea to mention it to your midwife like you said; I’m going to say something to mine at my 16 week appointment - I had terrible anxiety last pregnancy and it ended up with me having a failed induction on my due date and an emcs, really want to avoid that this time!

@unicornpower what is it about Mac Donald’s and morning sickness - that seems to be the only thing I can gobble down! 🙈

@Taybz it’s so hard not having our partners able to come, hopefully it will be different at your 20 week scan. Good luck for your scan next week, the wait is hard!

Is anyone else exhausted? I’m so tired ALL the time! I know having a toddler doesn’t help and I feel really guilty as I’m spending lots of the weekend resting whilst DH takes her to the park. Feel like I should be dragging myself along!

unicornpower · 06/03/2021 15:58

@rach921 I know right! Beige food is unappealing after a while isn't it, I miss balanced meals with lots of veggies most I think! I rediscovered super noodles which have been a godsend for dinner time when I start feeling ropey but sometimes you just have to try and sleep through it dont you!

@Squibble84 ha I know! It is weird isnt it, it must be the salt content maybe? Or that it is really plain food when you strip it back isnt it! So many people say it's all they could stomach so we definitely aren't on our own! We have a McDonald's after every scan as a little tradition, otherwise I'd be scoffing them every day. Its weird as other fast food turns my stomach completely, I used to love pizza but the thought of it is enough to make me sick now! Same for fish and chips etc too

MrsMcNtobe · 06/03/2021 16:10

Has anyone had any experience with a sort of pinching feeling low down/ovary area? It’s not painful or constant but I’ve had it once or twice today, just a little uncomfortable x

Mamabearwhere · 06/03/2021 16:38

@MrsMcNtobe yes I’ve been having some odd pains here and there. The other day it felt a bit like “lightening crotch” I don’t know if anyone else experienced it in previous pregnancy but yes feels a bit like a pinch/sharp pain. Others have mentioned it could be stretching pains, I don’t know if I remember it from my previous pregnancies.

@Squibble84 omg yes to tiredness! I’m exhausted, haven’t done much movement the entire pregnancy so far and feel really guilty about not being active or engaged with my kids. I’m usually really hands on and we do loads of crafting or outdoor adventures. Now it’s just me laying on the sofa while they’re either playing or watching tv but I physically can’t bring myself to go out or do anything. I’m praying I get some energy back very soon. My house is also a mess as I’ve not done any organising or tidying. Bare minimum of hanging up the washing and throwing the dishes in the dishwasher. DH tries to help but just gets on my nerves so I’ve asked him to leave things alone.

CherylLW · 06/03/2021 17:06

@MrsMcNtobe I have pains a few times a day most days, nothing bad just twinges. If I get up to soon I feel I shooting pain near my ovary! On my early scan they could tell my egg was released from my right side and it’s always the right side that twinges so I don’t know if that has something to do with it 🤷🏻‍♀️. Sometimes I just feel crampy or the feeling of my stomach stretching. I worry if I feel them and I worry if I don’t!

unicornpower · 06/03/2021 17:09

@Squibble84 oh and im absolutely exhausted too! I dont have a toddler either so I have no excuses but my energy is just zapped totally. I had a little dust round the house yesterday and went for a walk and honestly I felt like I'd run a marathon and felt jaded at about 3pm. I genuinely don't m ow how you ladies do it when you have a toddler to consider too! You're all my heroes. Hopefully you will get some energy back soon- did you feel better in the 2nd trimester last time?

@mrsmcntobe yes I have had some little pinches and twinges, very strange isnt it! I get it when i stand up quickly or bend down!

unicornpower · 06/03/2021 17:11

@cherylLW mine was the right ovary too! Apparently this means it's a boy haha (pretty sure that's not a scientific fact)

AdventuresAwait · 06/03/2021 17:13

@Squibble84, yes I'm exhausted! Never felt so tired.

@MrsMcNtobe, I get funny little pains especially when I move/ stand up quickly.

Taybz · 06/03/2021 17:19

Thanks @Squibble84 @KHR1 the wait is just so anxiety inducing
