Hey can I be added please, had private scan yesterday dated me 8weeks 2 days due 4th September!
This is my 5th pregnancy, sadly no child
First lost at 18weeks then miscarriages under 12 and an ectopic with tube removed
So I'm trying to be super positive with this one!
Very shit times with no one being able to come into appointments/ scans that's why I had private so my partner could come in and see heart beat
Is anyone else feeling super anxious with covid and doing appointments alone?

Morning ladies Grin glad to see the scans went well and the booking appts. Can’t wait for ours the weekend for some reassurance. @gigi556 I woke up sweating night before last but I was under a quilt and blanket! I think the hormones make you hot/cold.

I feel identical to last pregnancy though so I am taking some reassurance from that atm. Still nauseous and the only thing that stops it is eating something or drinking something fizzy, I’m going to be the size of a house by the time 14 weeks comes, I’m already on the 5mg for bmi+30 so I need to find another way. Tips 🙏🏽?

Obviously it’s early to be buying things but has anyone ever tried the free rider sling? Thinking of getting one so they can be attached to me whilst I look after DC1. Any good?

Thanks guys, yep massive relief.

I’m mostly still cold, but can’t deal with the heating too high as it makes me sleepy.

I know there were some posts on the harmony test a bit back, so sorry if I’m repeating things, but has anyone had the invasive amniotic fluid test before? My dr had recommended it due to my age. If he does that one it’s free but the harmony test will cost 300 euros but I’m thinking that’s the safer one? Anyone had experience or know if the risk is worth it for the invavsive one? This pregnancy is a massive roller coaster as soon as my worries about one thing are calmed something new comes along I need to think about!

Noodles4Me · 26/01/2021 11:26

Think I'll do Harmony test after 12 week scan all being well. Always going to show as "high" risk being 39 with NHS so need better reassurance and less invasive @Scotti84

Anyone else gained weight? Not just fluid with me. Everything bigger (thighs, arse), at least 8lbs at nearly 9weeks. Am very concerned about this.

gigi556 · 26/01/2021 11:41

@Scotti84 the amniocentesis and CVS come with a risk of miscarriage and are invasive in the sense that they do have to take a sample from your womb. My sister had this done and I don't think it's pleasant! The harmony test is risk free and quite accurate. Having said that... it's not without fault as my sister had a false positive for one of the trisomy's on the harmony hence the amnio. She said the harmony was possibly wrong because of leftover fetal blood from a previous miscarriage. I'm not a medical professional. I guess it depends on your attitude to risk and what you would plan to do with any of the information gained from the tests.

Scotti84 · 26/01/2021 12:01

@Noodles4Me @gigi556 Thanks guys, I think I might do the harmony test and see what that brings up and then do the invasive only if it’s needed. We’ve spoke briefly about what we would do if something shows but we’ve decided to wait until that point to think about it and stay positive because there is more chance that everything is ok.

I’ve seen a change in my shape but I’ve actually lost 5lb, I’ve got a bit to spare so the dr isnt worried atm but will see at my next appt in 4 weeks. I think it’s also down to lack of appetite and I don’t drink cappuccinos or have any taste for sweet stuff. I’ve probably halved my calorie intake. Maybe ask your dr for advice? If there’s some eating plans or something you could follow? Is there anything you can’t stomach atm?

Sophiederuges · 26/01/2021 12:34

The weight is something I have to watch out for. I'm clinically obese and my GP told me to try for no weight gain. Needless to say it's difficult. Shock I retain a lot of water at the best of time so pregnant, it won't be easy. But in the first trimester, it's likely to be bloating, constipation and water retention, unless you really stuff your face. 1lb of fat is the equivalent of 3500cal so a 6lbs gain in such a short time is highly unlikely to be just fat Smile

FTEngineerM · 26/01/2021 12:35

@Noodles4Me yeah, my thoughts go huge! Already feel them getting tight in jeans 😬

Noodles4Me · 26/01/2021 12:55

Thanks guys, I am eating better and calorie stricter than ever, plus no wine and associate wine binge on crisps so it must be water retention.

Not gonna lie, maternity jeans are on. Just need some tops now!

I haven’t read through comments so apologies if asked already but is anyone else absolutely starving? I mean I have a huge meal and an hour later I feel like I’ll pass out from hunger any second. I am constantly eating and I wake up in middle of the night feeling sick because I’m starving.

I don’t remember this with my first two pregnancies. I guess I’m going to be really huge really soon!

I am. I have two modes: absolute starvation and indigestion 😅

Yep. So hungry but just want dry things. Current thing is sweet potato fries with salt on!

Yep, I’m a snack monster at the minute.

I definitely think my appetite has increased but I'm not sure how much is hormones and how much is carb creep... I get hungrier when I eat more carbs. I was lucky enough not to gain any weight in my last pregnancy until well into my third trimester and i was back to my normal weight as soon as I'd delivered 😂😂 I'm a little bit over weight so I guess I didn't need to gain. Hoping for the same again! Need to get better with healthy snacks though 😬

duchessrose · 26/01/2021 21:21

I am ravenous all the time but I know it's partly emotional eating. I'm still fitting in the same size clothes but I look so bloated when I look in the mirror!

Hopefulmummie · 27/01/2021 08:17

Morning everyone :) does anyone else have extreme lower back pain at night this early on? The past few nights when I have been lying down and get up I can barely put my foot to the floor as it sends a shooting pain up to my lower back. It feels like a sciatic nerve

Equimum · 27/01/2021 08:29

Hopefulmummie that might be worth talking to a dr about if it’s that painful. I am getting a. But sore across my lower back and finding that gentle yoga stretches help, but yours sounds much more severe.

I’m going to call my GPS surgery and try to get my booking appointment arranged today. I have signed up online and been sent a scan date, but apparently I cannot book this until I’m 7 weeks, which I roughly am now.

Noodles4Me · 27/01/2021 10:12

Morning all. Got a scan tomorrow, at 9 wk +1. Am so nervous.

Vomited today so hoping thats a good sign.

How is everyone doing today?

Mamabearwhere · 27/01/2021 12:05

I have a scan booked for Saturday, can’t wait to find out how far I am because my dates aren’t too accurate (I had a random 1 day period in December, which might have been an implantation bleed) so I could either be 5/6 weeks or closer to 8/9 if I go by November period)

My nausea is full on and horrendous already. I’m constantly starving which makes me feel more sick. I am also really moody Confused

Mamabearwhere · 27/01/2021 12:55

Quick question regarding telling your employer. Now most of us are working from home do we still need to inform them at the usual 3 month mark or just wait until later? What’s everyone planning to do?

FTEngineerM · 27/01/2021 13:03

@Mamabearwhere exciting, our scan is also Saturday and unsure of dates, LMP puts us at 8 weeks 1 day but I am pretty sure I’m not that far along. We’ll see. I’d prefer to be further along that’s for sure.

I don’t know when to tell my employer, certainly not right now though because I haven’t returned from previous Mat leave and negotiated part time for my return. Once I’ve got that confirmed I’ll probably tell them. I think it way after 3 months you’ve got to tell them by law.

Does anyone not feel any different?
I tested to use up my ICs and they are getting super dark. I just don't feel much different.

Also my booking in at the hospital and the first time I'll see a health care provider will be 14weeks. Anyone else seeing them this late?

gigi556 · 27/01/2021 13:52

@LittleAurora is this your first pregnancy? As I understand it there are some screening tests that must be performed before 10 weeks. So if you are planning to get these, 14 weeks is too late. 12-14 weeks for a first scan is normal but I would expect the booking appointment with you midwife much sooner than that.

gigi556 · 27/01/2021 13:54

@LittleAurora I only took one test. Said I was pregnant. Haven't had any bleeding so I'm going with it. I'm about 6.5 weeks. I'm really moody and my boobs hurt but honestly I don't feel pregnant at all otherwise. I was very nauseous from 4-14 weeks in my last pregnancy so this is weird but I'm trying not to read into it.
