Oh also feeling lots of movement now (18+5) which is really nice but it's my third so quite early too - totally normal not to be feeling anything yet especially if it's your first Smile

Morning everyone! I don't think I have written on the new thread yet!
Wanted to do a movement update! I'm now 21 + 5 and in the last few days my DD has actually felt the baby move! He kicked her in the palm of her hand! Also, this morning I actually managed to video my stomach moving when he kicked!
For those a few weeks behind, the kicks do got a lot more regular and stronger!
I also have an anterior placenta and I can still feel a lot! Very exciting!
Good luck for all those about to have 20 week scans!

Hello everyone, I was in bed watching tv on Saturday night and coz I don’t have too much of a bump yet I was on my back (I don’t sleep on my back though), then out of nowhere I got this nudge or a poke just below my belly button - I just sat bolt upright in bed straight away, frightened DP in the process Grin couldn’t believe how strongly I felt it! Haven’t felt much since but was definitely active that night. I was a couple of hours off 18 weeks at the time

Hi everyone! I'm 21 weeks today and just had the first set of kicking that I could feel from the outside! Such a shame my husband was on a work call and I couldn't call him over to see if he could feel it!
Hopefully it'll do it again this evening, I just want him to feel what I feel!

What is everyone thinking about maternity leave? I have a meeting this week with my head of department to go over dates and what the difference between Ordinary Maternity leave and Additional Maternity leave means for my role. After then I’ll hand in my MATB1 form after the chat.

So far I’m thinking of going off 2 weeks before my due date, maybe using some A/L to have shorter weeks in the run up and then returning in January 2022. I think Jan will be a good time to dive back in Smile.

Hoping to use some A/L in December to get slightly more income around Christmas and then might use leave to build back up to full time when I start back.

Ooooh @PinkPlantCase I literally just got off the phone to HR! I'm finishing on the last week of May so 31st May bank holiday is the start of my A/L and mat leave to start 21st June with EDD on 23rd! We are only allowed to take two weeks over to 2022 so I have to take 3 weeks plus 4 bank holiday days (Xmas, boxing day, August bank hols, one day bonus company day off day). I'm thinking of taking a last minute staycay during that time depending on how I am, lots of beach-whale rolling by an outdoor pool!

Doing shared parental, 40 weeks + 2 annual leave from 2021 for me and 12 for the husband, so back at it like beginning April?

@nesski and @pinkplantcase My HR at work is amazing and she suggested I start my mat leave on June 7th even though baby due on June 13th - but this way I get paid through half term and will actually finish work on May 28th.

@stichervice I have ectropion too, but always had it even veggie pregnancy so it wasn't too alarming. How your OK, scares are awful but getting answers is always good.

20 + 1 here and still no obvious movements. Sure, I'm bubbling and rumbling constantly, but just feel like a big gassy preggo!

I work in a private household with relaxed annual leave 😂😂😂 So, I’m allowed to take 4 weeks over to next year (due to covid) and then will accrue 5.6 wks during MAT leave, i was told you can’t take A/L during mat leave as it ends my mat leave. So Start June 10th and end March for the paid mat leave. Back to work and have 6 weeks off in the summer to go to lisbon where partners family have a house. I’m taking 9 weeks rolled over :)

@AlRRRR Lisbon, best city in the world! My husband is from Braga (near Porto), I just love Portugal and miss it so much, we were supposed to go this summer and Christmas Sad

@TerryRose hopefully it will be soon, the bonding will truly happen then!

AlRRRR · 25/01/2021 20:34

@Nesski Ah really? haha Yes my husband is 1/2 portuguese, 1/2 chinese so his parents own a house in Macau and Lisbon but because of covid we’ve been trapped in the UK. We usually go at Xmas and summer too, haven’t been to Porto, but heard it’s sooo nice! Is this your first baby?

My MAT leave will start on 20th June and EDD is 21st June! I work part time though so should finish 4 days before due date. Think it's probably doable as am now working from home. Hoping to go back June 2022 but use around 6 weeks annual leave at the end.

@PinkPlantCase no ones talked to me about mat leave yet. Haven't got form yet. But I suspect I'll end up going early due to high risk pregnancy. I won't beable go have a full year off as I can't afford it but Im probably going to go back to work in October.

Haven't got my form yet and hoping Dr gives it to me at 25 week appt as that's last point. For those of you with your Mat1B how did you get it?
I will finish end of May then take a weeks holiday and start mat leave on my die date of 7th June. Trying to leave it as late as poss

@BlondePotter have to call / text my midwife after 20 week scan and she will then post the form to me.

Report
PinkPlantCase · 26/01/2021 07:56

@BlondePotter my midwife gave me mine at my 16 week appointment (which happened at 18 weeks). I don’t think they’re meant to give them out before 20 weeks though!

I’ve changed my mind a lot about when my leave should start. I’m due on the 8th June and originally thought I’d work up until the week before but I do have quite a demanding role, long days, late nights and can be stressful at times. So think I might need more than a week to decompress and get some sleep in the bank Grin

I don’t know how work are going to cover me yet, I hope they do get proper cover in and don’t just dump my projects on the rest of the team as that won’t be good for the projects or the team! They mentioned getting someone more junior in to support the team but not run projects as that’ll be easier for them to recruit for.

Interesting to hear what everyone else is up to Smile

MarshallCleo · 26/01/2021 09:38

@pinkplantcase I am due 8th June also and thinking of finishing mid-May potentially? Strangely enough my manager called me yesterday saying they are planning to dump my work on the rest of the team and hire someone more junior for support! Great minds..

Report
BlondePotter · 26/01/2021 11:13

@MarshallCleo @PinkPlantCase just bear in mind if the baby comes 2 weeks late you'll have used a month before it comes!
But obviously every role is different and you just have to go with the flow anyway xx

@swiftt Try not to worry about movements, I was 22 wks with my first. This one, I felt at 14 weeks and then at 16, not 17+5 and not felt anything since :)

In terms of maternity, I was thinking of finishing work two weeks before EDD. One week being holidays and then start maternity one week prior to due date. I also want the full time off + holidays! Work don’t know this yet though Grin

I'm probably going to take maternity just after 36 weeks, with 2 weeks leave before that. So looking at finishing early May. Going to tell my work beginning of June for maternity so I can bring it forward when I have a better understanding of if mine will be born early. Also thinking of using some holiday to shorten some of my weeks if I get too uncomfortable.

Jinglebells87 · 26/01/2021 16:14

My EDD is 2nd June. I plan on having Friday 28th May as my last day just before the bank holiday monday and my kids half term! I assume this one will be late like my other two were (both born 8 days past due date).
Fingers crossed I get a few days to relax before the birth!!
I'm taking 9 months maternity leave although I work for a small company so actually doing a bit of sneaky work to keep things ticking over whilst I'm away. I won't get my MAT B1 until my next midwife appointment at 28 weeksShock!!
