@Fishingforhappiness 🤣🤣 that Orla story is so funny haha , I think it's a beautiful name. Is it the spelling that's putting him off ? It can also be spelt in the Gaelic way Órlaith 😊 best of luck with your scan on Monday, so exciting

TerryRose · 22/01/2021 01:27

@ChasingARainbow awh that's brilliant news ! I would have gone with full bladder as well so that's good to know!! My scan is on the 1st but I'm 20 weeks this Tuesday . In some ways it has flown by but in other ways it seems like a lifetime ago since I got the positive pregnancy test. Hopefully the next few months fly by super fast as I can't wait .

Waitingforbabypage · 22/01/2021 06:38

It's scan day today, I've been awake an hour already thanks to a horrific nightmare-thankfully not pregnancy related.
I am beyond excited! And so is OH (I can't decide if it's for the scan or the Nando's we'll be ordering afterwards haha!)
Can't wait to see bubs again and get all the measurements, they reckon I'm in for another small baby, ds was a 6lb-er.
Also going to see if we can find out if we're team pink or blue. Eeeek!

Sitchervice · 22/01/2021 14:00

I found out why I bleed!! A doctor finally looked at my cervix and I have somthing called an Ectropion!!

I'm also very scared about my 20 weeks scan especially after the 12 weeks and getting called to say something thing could be wrong. Nothing was in the end apart from my low papp-a but I seriously don't want to go for my 20 weeks 😭

Waitingforbabypage · 22/01/2021 14:29

Scan went really well, baby is measuring wonderfully but being a bit of a pickle and had hands infront of the face so I need to go back next Friday to double check that and the heart as we couldn't see that properly either.
Also, we're having a girl! 🥰 oh is over the moon!

Tatty1987 · 22/01/2021 14:54

@Waitingforbabypage amazing news, congrats 💗 enjoy the Nando’s Grin

TerryRose · 22/01/2021 16:47

@Waitingforbabypage ah brilliant news ! Congrats on your little girl ❤️❤️

TerryRose · 22/01/2021 16:48

@Sitchervice great that you have been told the cause, must be a relief, I think scans are always stressful no matter what but try and focus on your little baba arriving in June xox

Waitingforbabypage · 23/01/2021 22:05

Random question, I can only feel movements, bumps and kicks down low on my tummy or up high, nothing in the middle. My placenta is posterior though. It's so odd.

Sitchervice · 23/01/2021 22:45

@Waitingforbabypage I've had light tickles not every day. My placenta is apparently on the front. I've felt a few bumps. Even my husband has. All of mine have been to the side or up high because of my front placenta.

Waitingforbabypage · 23/01/2021 22:55

@Sitchervice I had an anterior placenta with ds, and didn't really have much of an issue feeling things, but this time round with a posterior, all the movement seems to be happening below my belly button or just above, but nothing across my belly button. Just find it a bit weird because I would have thought I'd be able to feel her everywhere? I guess give it a bit more time and I will.
Feels really odd when I'm leaning forward and she kicks and I can feel it on my own leg 😱😂
OH has been able to feel her for a few days now, it's really nice, he like to just lay and have a hand on my tummy x

RoseA89 · 24/01/2021 09:07

Hi everyone can I join?
I’m 21 week with my first baby (a boy). Had my 20 week scan earlier this week. All looks good, but my placenta is low. The doctor said it just reaches the cervix, so I’m hoping that moves. The thought of a c-section really terrifies me. I’ve to go for a growth scan at 28 weeks and then a scan for the placenta at 32 weeks.

pookypup · 24/01/2021 09:20

Hello and congratulations @RoseA89.

I understand why the thought of a section can be scary. If it’s any reassurance many women on here have had elective sections (me included) and they are usually very calm, positive experiences. I recovered well and babies BF beautifully afterwards.

I liked mine so much I asked for a second planned section for DS2!

RoseA89 · 24/01/2021 09:24

@pookypup thanks for letting me know! I’ve had such a difficult pregnancy so far and I just wanted the actual birth to be something I was in control of...maybe not! As long as the baby is healthy, that’s all that matters.

pookypup · 24/01/2021 09:25

Does anyone here have experience of small babies? My first two DC measured average/above average and I’m tall at 5”10.

At my 20 week scan the sonography commented that the baby was structurally normal, just small. She didn’t say much else so I have contacted the midwife.

Looking at the percentiles this baby is well below average and actually below the 5% marker on two of the measures, which has really worried me. 12 week scan was fine and baby measured average.

I’m 41 if that makes any difference?

BlondePotter · 24/01/2021 09:33

@pookypup no experience but she would have called a Dr in if she was concerned. And the percentiles are there for a reason, so for every baby that's measuring at 95th there needs to be one on the 5th. Just trying to be reassuring but hopefully your midwife helps put your mind at rest too xx

pookypup · 24/01/2021 10:20

Thank you @BlondePotter Smile. The baby was in a truck position and the scan took a long time, so hoping that may have made it less accurate. It was just such a surprise.

pookypup · 24/01/2021 10:22

Tricky position I mean Hmm

Dragonfly92 · 24/01/2021 16:26

@pookypup I've not quite got the same experience as you but thought I'd share to hopefully put your mind at ease. I'm having twins and go for regular growth scans and at my last one the sonographer mentioned their legs were slightly shorter than average. They were put as 8th & 14th percentiles. I was a bit worried by being told this, however my scans get checked by a consultant and then a multiples midwife, both of which were not concerned at all. The babies are still growing, just at their own rate. I appreciate the percentiles aren't as low as you've been told, but I would imagine if there were any concerns they most likely would book you in for extra scans to monitor growth. Definitely chat with your midwife but try not to worry. As long as your little one is growing. They're just doing so at their own pace.

Sitchervice · 24/01/2021 16:52

Not being able to feel my little one move all the time scares me.

TerryRose · 24/01/2021 17:38

@Waitingforbabypage
Mine is at the back so was expecting to feel a lot by now,
20 weeks Tuesday but only feel little flutters now and again, as they say each pregnancy is different , I'm am hoping to feel proper and more frequent movements soon though

lucieloos · 24/01/2021 18:03

@pookypup my first baby was born on the 7th percentile. It wasn't predicted. Midwife always measured her around 35th. She was completely fine though and soon put on weight but she just has a small / slim frame. With my second they wanted me to have additional growth scans and fussed a lot. He was born 10oz more than my first. He wasn't classed as small. With this one they again want me to have additional growth scans. I don't really see the point as I know she will be fine whatever weight but I'm just going along with it and seeing it as a few extra chances to get a peek at baby. I wouldn't worry too much. Just for info my daughter was on 7th percentile for weight but she was still 6lbs8oz when born which I didn't think was particularly small.

pookypup · 24/01/2021 19:22

Thank you @lucieloos and @Dragonfly92 for sharing your experiences, it’s reassuring to hear that I don’t need to be too worried.

I have a telephone consultants appointment on Wednesday due to previous ELCS so will be sure to ask then.

If it’s not offered I will push for face to face midwife appointments and possibly growth scans rather than all over the phone. A bit anxious about anything being missed due to covid.

pookypup · 24/01/2021 19:25

To those concerned about movement, I’m 20+5 now and in the past couple of days have noticed it becoming much more regular. I could hardly feel movements some days before then (which was a bit worrying!).

MadameBonfamille · 25/01/2021 07:19

Glad I found you all - was wondering why no one was posting on the last thread.
Welcome to all the newies!
Had my booking in appointment over the phone last week and they bought my due date forward (just by 2 days) because my GP was going off the wrong dating scan, also said they will induce me early due to my age (will be 42 by then).
My last 2 were induced - one at 36+4 as my waters broke early, and the second at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes - I had heard some awful stories but honestly mine were perfectly fine and what I imagined a normal labour to feel like, apart from being on the monitor and not able to move around or go in the water, but by that point I really didn't care that much anyway.
Also had a growth scan for my second which was totally wrong - they said she was going to be massive (hence the early induction) and she just turned out to be really tall.
Hope that reassures a little bit!
