@BlondePotter absolutely call the midwife. I find even the f2f appointments at the moment aren’t massively informative (quick measure and you’re out) so I just can’t imagine any value at all over the phone!
My GP hasn’t even bothered to see me yet. They are too busy with covid and vaccinations (fair enough but still, it’s been 8 months now!)

TerryRose · 06/04/2021 14:41

@MelissaAnn92 no leaky boobs for me yet ! Actually hoping I get them as I have this fear that I won't be able to breastfeed, not sure why it's completely in my head !

I'm struggling with appetite again, I could eat pizza and chips all day long but no interest in other food so really have to force myself to eat 🙃😬

I've been listening to an app called the gentle birth it's fantastic as I am not able to go to any hypnobirthing classes and they are so expensive online so it's been really good .

I'm officially 30 weeks today 💕 trying to get our house finished before baby arrives so hope she doesn't plan to come early 🤣

Humpty11 · 06/04/2021 16:42

@TerryRose don’t panic if you don’t have leaky boobs at all, I didn’t have anything before I had my son and didn’t even try to harvest colostrum or anything and I managed to breastfeed him until he was 1. I found that the midwife support was what really helped me get the hang of it in the early days.

PinkPlantCase · 07/04/2021 17:32

Has anyone else been having Braxton-Hicks? There’s been a few times today and yesterday where my bump had felt really hard, it doesn’t hurt and isn’t particularly sudden but is just uncomfortable and isn’t over particularly quickly. It’s also pretty weird when I can still feel baby moving inside the hardness!

Some Googling told me this is apparently Braxton-Hicks contractions. I’m 31 weeks for reference.

Sitchervice · 07/04/2021 18:07

@PinkPlantCase I think I might have had a few this morning. I couldn't sit up without a bit of pain that came in waves. 🤔 Not 100% sure

I had some a while back when my flat suddenly had scaffolding put up around it with no communication from housing management. Stress triggered it.

Bs93 · 08/04/2021 12:38

Has anyone found their first trimester symptoms have came back? I’ve started feeling sick again, horrible taste, spots and vivid dreams. Trying to eat my way through it and keep enjoying my food haha

swiftt · 08/04/2021 12:46

@Bs93 I’m definitely with you on the vivid dreams! But apart from that, I’m feeling fine again. I probably wouldn’t know I was pregnant if I didn’t have a big belly and boobs!

OP posts:
PinkPlantCase · 08/04/2021 13:13

@Bs93 I’ve been feeling sicky again after breakfast, think it’s something to do with how squashed everything is! Funny how I’m no so bad after the other meals but the general yucky stomach feeling of the first trimester is back

TerryRose · 08/04/2021 14:18

@Bs93 yup , mad dreams and lack of appetite so far

TerryRose · 08/04/2021 14:21

@Humpty11 thank you fingers crossed 🤞

Got my first stretch marks ..on my boobs haha typical they haven't even grown that much so
I feel cheated 🤣🤣 I've a tiny one on my side as well, I'm not too bothered really I was never the type to wear bikini's etc, I do use bio oil every night as I just love the smell and the feel of it .

Anyone else starting to pack their hospital bags ? There is a company in Ireland that sells pre packed hospital bags so I've done that so I'll just have to add in my own few bits then, for me it just takes the fear out of it and saves me having to order lots of different bits online as I live in the country so don't have regular access to big shops etc

Bs93 · 08/04/2021 15:11

Ah it’s not just me then! Absolutely gutted about the sickness and horrible taste, haven’t missed them 🙄
Only 6 weeks left of work to go though wooo, when’s everyone starting maternity?

Also did anyone else’s midwife work out their BMI at the 28 week appointment?? I was so surprised mine did! She told me I’m fine and there’s nothing on me but my BMI is only just in normal now (it was 22ish at booking and I’ve never been overweight). If she plans to work it out at my 32 week appointment then I will definitely be classed as overweight!

MyBabyBoyBlue · 08/04/2021 15:57

Yes, sicky feeling is back for me (29+4) and I'm gutted about it! Can barely eat anything with any nutrition to it which is a shame because if I eat any more carby sugary rubbish I'll need a wheelbarrow to be carted around in! Has got so bad again I'm going on mat leave at 30 weeks Sad

BlondePotter · 08/04/2021 15:58

@bs93 my vivid dreams are getting out of control! According to my ftbit I get about 25 mins deep sleep a night, but 2.5 hours REM 🙈

I just had my 31 week phone appt with GP... Completely pointless as expected. She asked me whether I was feeling movements, feeling ok, had any concerns and then said 'well there's not a lot else I can do over the phone so I'll leave you to it'....
Thanks very much! Bring on 34 weeks to actually see the midwife f2f again

AlRRRR · 08/04/2021 16:16

@BlondePotter how do they take bloods, test wee, listen to HB and feel where baby is if they don’t see you?

I’ve not once has a telephone app, always been in person with same MW and next app at 31 weeks, I’ve transferred to birth centre where I’ll give birth, so they will do next 3 apps, then i’ll give birth there...

I don’t get how they can’t see you...

Tatty1987 · 08/04/2021 17:05

Had my 28 week appointment today and measuring spot on! Yey!

@Bs93 she didn’t work out my BMI at the appointment. Looking to start my Mat leave one week prior to due date but will also take a weeks holiday before that so will finish at 38 weeks! Eeeek!

@BlondePotter sorry you didn’t get a f2f appointment, seems so silly. Luckily only 3 weeks till your next one!

Need to get the nursery ready now - it’s currently empty and stripped back to plaster! Anyone else still doing the nursery?! What themes are you doing?

BlondePotter · 08/04/2021 17:21

@AIRRRR exactly what I said when I phoned to book it. I do feel some surgeries are still using Covid as an excuse now. What if I now had GD (was tested at 28 weeks and was fine), or high blood pressure, or measuring small/big. I've had my bump measured once at 28 weeks so they're not going to see any trends from that are they.

@Tatty1987 we painted ours yellow with Harry Potter wallpaper! Still needs curtains, a light shade and furniture building but there's no rush given they won't be in there until December I guess haha. I'm very lazy with getting things ready 🙈 hoping I become a nester but it's doubtful!!
What are you going for?

northerngal20 · 08/04/2021 18:03

hey everyone! hope you're all doing well! time is really flying now.

@Bs93 yes I'm definitely starting to feel a bit more first trimester-y, i hope it doesn't get too bad! I've been so sleepy during the day but if i nap i end up feeling really sicky, and i'm also finding that my acid reflux is SO bad and constant that it makes me feel like i'm going to vomit too. the combination is pretty gross! please tell me i'm not the only one...

@TerryRose that's so cool you can get a pre-packed hospital bag! i've been starting to worry about getting mine ready - we don't have any baby clothing at all yet (DH is reluctant to buy as his family are throwing us a shower in a few weeks and he thinks we'll get gifted loads) but i'm considering doing a sainsbury's shop and buying some vests and sleepsuits just in case baby decides to come super early!

AlRRRR · 08/04/2021 18:03

@BlondePotter gosh, that’s so strange! So sorry that you’re having that experience!

Sitchervice · 08/04/2021 18:25

I have to have a glucose test. My dip came back with high Glucose... May have been me over indulging in cake today 🙃

Bs93 · 08/04/2021 19:00

We need to retouch some paint in the nursery and it currently still has my husband’s desk and computer in 🙈 we’ve got the changing table but the cot arrived damaged! So waiting for replacement parts. I’ve ordered some wall stickers, going for a sea theme with whales and turtles etc and they look so cute, excited to get them up!

I’ve had annual leave so I’ve got things ordered and feeling a bit more organised now

Anyone bought a breast pump/ any recommendations? I’ll want to express reasonably early (I know they say 6 weeks but probably more like 3 weeks for me)

Nesski · 08/04/2021 19:57

@Bs93 finish on the 28th May but I have 9 days leave to take in between. EDD June 23 I literally cannot wait. Loss of appetite, fatigue, horrible taste in mouth all back.. and the insomnia... Ooh the insomnia. Think I'll get the Hakka first to attach to the other boob, it's cheap and I want to know I'm established before splashing out more.

@TerryRose not packed yet but I will be getting husband to do it. I want to be able to shout 'GET ME THE BIG PADS' from the toilet and he'll correctly whip out my tena ----nappies pants and not the cotton pads meant for baby's bottom.

@Tatty1987 going to get a decorator in to paint the place first but not really sure until we get to shops to get some inspo, probably safari/jungle themed!

Fishingforhappiness · 09/04/2021 04:29

Does anyone else's baby wake them up at exactly the same time every night? 3.30am.. Time to party. Then I need a wee, a drink, a snack as I feel sick now I'm wide awake for 90mins at least, browsing the perils of MN. Not packed yet, I want to use my baby change bag, its out of stock arriving in May. Grin. Washed all the clothes last week in the nice weather. Nursery is completed, a botanical type theme, eucalyptus printed mat and sage green pannelling and a taupe colour on top. Some nice prints of animals and a few air purifying plants. Not very "baby" but hoping it may last her a little while! Dreading the day she asks to paint it pink! 😫

Waitingforbabypage · 09/04/2021 08:26

Morning all,
How are we all doing mental health wise?

I'm nearly 32 weeks and my goodness I feel sodding lonely. Friends are too busy to sit and chat on the phone - understandable, they have lives and a majority of them are gearing up to going back to work on the 12th.
My work mates are already back at work but I think I'm staying furloughed which means I won't be back until June 2022. Gutted as I love my job. But again, I understand because health and safety etc etc.
My kids are being ok I guess, they would rather spend time on their devices over time with me but if we do anything it has to be close to home because I don't drive and I can't walk very far (yay pgp/spd) so they're bored with the local park but it all makes me feel like a crap mum.
Baby is doing fine and I'm happy she's so healthy in there but I feel like she is literally leeching everything from me. I'm so tired and achy but then I can't sleep because I'm so sore and I'm just ready for her to be here now so I can get comfy on my front and have a bloody long good sleep!

Phew. What a rant. I know they're not big things to be upset over but it feels relentless and the end seems so far away.
I'm just tired.

pookypup · 09/04/2021 08:56

@Waitingforbabypage sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment. If it’s any reassurance I’ve found my mood has plummeted too in the past 2/3 weeks.

When DH asked how I am this morning, I said “feeling like a very tired potato”.

Waitingforbabypage · 09/04/2021 09:18

@pookypup a very tired potato is exactly the right expression!
