Out of interest, where do people feel most of their movements? And when does the MW start feeling for babies position? Just trying to work out how mine is lying as the moment really, I think they're transverse still because I get most movements at the sides just above each hip. And rolling sensations across my stomach. (Not at all worried, I know we've got plenty of time left for them to turn, just curious!)

jupitermars1345 · 02/04/2021 08:52

For more low down on each side or around my belly button area

AlRRRR · 02/04/2021 08:53

@Lovethatjourneyforme I’ve no idea about any pattern, I’d never be able to track it either as have a 4 yr old and we’re on the go 7 am to 7 pm 🤣🤣🤣🤣. It feels all over though when baby moves, sometimes turning, sometimes high, sometimes low , My midwife has felt baby’s position at 26 and 28 weeks appointment (I’m 28 week yday) and said it’s head down both times when she listened to heartbeat, but I’ve no idea if that’s in that position all the time, hahaha

Sitchervice · 02/04/2021 08:56

Mines died down a bit. I might go to day unit to get it checked but I think he's facing my back. I do feel him pushing his butt into my ribs though and it causes me not to beable to breath

PinkPlantCase · 02/04/2021 09:02

I tend to feel movements all over, and can normally make out one big lump which I think is a bum and another big lump which is a head. Then smaller pointer lumps which are the feet. Mine also gets hiccups now which are a softer more rhythmic movement.

Baby moves to a head down position when I’m in bed, even if it’s just for a quick lie down and then goes back to traverse when I’m up and about or sitting 😂 hopefully they’ll learn that head down is the place to be!

Nesski · 02/04/2021 09:42

All over on the right hand side of my belly button! I haven't felt him at all on left hand side of belly button, I have a lopsided bump in the morning or when he sticks his butt out!

Snally82 · 02/04/2021 13:30

Little one is head down on my right side mostly. I get a lopsided bump too!

MimiDaisy11 · 03/04/2021 09:31

Out of interest, where do people feel most of their movements?

I know mine is positioned with his/her head downwards as I had midwife appointment 2 weeks ago and a scan less than a week ago so assume they haven't moved as both confirmed that position. I also have an anterior placenta so that might be shielding some kicks but most of the time I feel it quite low down but I also occasionally feel it higher up at both sides.

Fishingforhappiness · 03/04/2021 17:00

This may be a silly question. My apologies. How do you know what part of baby is where? At my 28 week appt I told my midwife I can go days without noticing her move and no pattern. She immediately sent me to delivery suite for a ctg. The trace kept failing but when I sat still, I did notice her move more. And pressed the button a few times. They discharged me 4 hours later. I'm now here and thinking I havent felt her since this morning... but this seems normal for her. No anterior placenta. I wonder whether my life is quite busy ie we have just moved, I have a stressful job and I'm always rushing around, meaning I don't notice her? Any advice?

Snally82 · 03/04/2021 17:10

I asked my midwife for baby’s position. I wasn’t sure what was where either!

Regards movements she’s pretty quiet all morning usually and then moves a bit in the afternoon, and then more later at night. But that’s not always!

If you’re always on the go though you definitely won’t feel baby as much. It may be worth trying to stop and get rest a few times a day to see what you notice x

AlRRRR · 03/04/2021 17:42

@Fishingforhappiness I don’t notice any kind of patterns and if I’m busy moving around, I also don’t notice :)

jupitermars1345 · 03/04/2021 18:20

I am 30+2 weeks and I notice my baby moving a lot more on the days I'm resting more definitely.
Its hard with a busy life but I try to make the time to sit a couple times a day .

She usually has a good wiggle every evening around 9-10pm and will have a small wiggle in the mornings if I don't have to rush to get up

Any other time she is active when I'm sat down and quiet when I'm active.
I haven't been kept awake by movement/ noticing much /if any movement overnight.
Maybe she will have her sleep patterns correct hahaha

TerryRose · 03/04/2021 18:52

I have noticed a pattern , I notice more movement towards my left side . I was told previously she was breach but that was a month ago so assuming she has turned around by now 🙈 I am working from home so I think I notice it more as I have more time to notice , my jumper is at the stage now where it's hopping up and down 🤣 she's very active at night so I am convinced I will go into labour at like 2am🤣🙈🙈

Fishingforhappiness · 03/04/2021 19:22

Thanks all. I finished painting the nursery today sat down and fell asleep... woke up to a wriggle! I was just expecting to feel more at 30+1. I doubt going back into work this week will help, but will try to sit down whilst doing paperwork etc.

MimiDaisy11 · 03/04/2021 19:23

How do you know what part of baby is where?
When I was at my midwife appointment she felt my bump and was able to tell. I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Sitchervice · 03/04/2021 19:34

Random thing

I've recently brought a Pinnard horn for husband to listen to the little one. He hasn't been able to hear the heartbeat due to lockdown and thought it might give him a chance to bond. Don't know if it was a good idea or not 🤷‍♀️

TerryRose · 03/04/2021 19:37

@Sitchervice ah thats a lovely idea ! My OH tried pressing his ear against my bump but wasn't sure if he was hearing his own heartbeat or mine , the horn should definitely help

Nesski · 03/04/2021 19:47

@Sitchervice I'd be mindful, if you know how to use one and where to look then it's ok but if you can't find anything and will get stressed and worried, I'd bin it!

Edelweiss2020 · 03/04/2021 20:17

Midwife felt my bump on Thursday and told me he was currently breech. I knew he had recently changed position as I've been feeling more movements and hard bits at the top but he moves loads so I never know which bit is where!

Sitchervice · 03/04/2021 20:40

@Nesski well we'll see. I know how to use one. Not that I can use it my self on my self. My stethoscope never picks up anything but my hand creaking and that's ment to pick up the babies heartbeat now.

Nesski · 04/04/2021 08:15

@Sitchervice sorry yes I meant if you both know how to use it!

Sitchervice · 04/04/2021 10:02

@Nesski yes the most difficult thing is finding the right position, you do need to be a little more precise, but like I said if it dosnt work it dosnt work.

He's heard things through the stethoscope like kicky thuds. At one point other half was resting his head on my belly and got kicked/punched in the face 🤣

Nesski · 04/04/2021 13:56

@Sitchervice awww yes I wish our baby would give my husband a thump too, he's too worried about squishing it with his fat head though so never lies on to it for long Grin

AlRRRR · 04/04/2021 16:34

Good afternoon,

Is anyone else having a bump ache? I’ve had bump ache for 3 days now, whenever I’m walking around, not SPD or round ligament sharp pains but just general bump aching. It does ease if laying down but I’ve got a 4 yr old and I live alone so I cnt lay down all day 🤣🤣🤣. It also hurts if I bend over or press the right hand side near the belly button.

Nesski · 04/04/2021 17:43

@airrrr no bump aching like how you described, didn't know it was a thing but good to know it could happen!! Is it muscular? Like you have a bruise?
