Hey all,

I know this is bit of a long shot, but is anyone due in March 2021?

I appreciate everyone is from different places, but are there a few ladies that want to create a WhatsApp group or something so we can be “cyber mum friends”?

I know being a mum (or a first time mum in my case) can be very daunting and a scary time, and not only that, but it can be quite lonely.. so it’s be great if a few people would like to become “online friends” so we can just talk and have company/share experiences/worries/how bored they are Hmm

Having such a rough day today. I was so productive on Monday, probably did too much in fact, and I have been bloody crap work-wise ever since. I feel low key tired no matter what I do, and I feel like I don't have the discipline it takes to work from home at the moment. The schools are still open here (although they never have school on a Wednesday) so its not even that I'm having to work while the kids are here (yet) and I still can't get anything done.

I have two massive deadlines hanging over me, and because the jobs are freelance I never mentioned that I was pregnant (because frankly it was irrelevant) and both jobs are due to finish at the end of Jan so are unaffected by birth/baby, but I just cannot be bothered. URGH.

I just want to drink a tonne of coffee and get it done but obviously I can't so instead I want sit in my PJs and watch shitty TV 🙃

HungryHippo20 · 06/01/2021 18:58

@NotThatKindOfDoctor I have been working from home for a couple of weeks now and I hear what you're saying about not having discipline 🤣🤣I've been better this week and I'm a bit busier but I totally skived during Xmas and new year....had a lie down on my bed a few times 😆 I can feel myself slowly winding down from work though. And I feel a bit forgotten about being at home so I'm sort of getting away with it!! Only 6 weeks to go now til mat leave 🥰🥰

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 06/01/2021 19:35

Haha, me and my bed have become best friends @HungryHippo20! It doesn't help (or it really, really does) that my husband keeps saying, 'you need to rest/lie down/put your feet up' every 30 seconds 😁. He has even got our sons (12yrs and 10yrs) running around after me now 😂 no matter how many times I tell them all I just need to get on with it!

The woman I work with on one project has just emailed to say that she has covid so it obviously unable to work now, meaning I literally have nowhere to hide, and am going to have to have a 6am start tomorrow. Serves me right really. But still, URGH.

HungryHippo20 · 06/01/2021 19:43

Sometimes you just need a bit of pressure to kick start you @NotThatKindOfDoctor 😬is it the kind of job that "the sooner you start the sooner you finish" or do you need to do work on it every day? If you could just get on with it and get it all done quickly that would be ideal!!

I work full time over 4 days so I log on at 7.30
And off at 17.30 which is a long day of trying to keep focus 😱 I also find the kitchen cupboards/fridge/biscuit tin are my friends lately....never done nibbling 🍪🍫🧁🍩🧀🥐

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 07/01/2021 06:23

Unfortunately it’s something that I need to work on all day everyday @HungryHippo20 as I need to be able to proudly stamp my name on it (it may be being used as a discussion piece at an international policy event) which actually having just written that down has given me a bit of anxiety so I think I’ve found a way to get my arse in gear 😳😂

I spent the whole last month worrying about the fact that all my contracted work finishes in January and because I’m having to take time off to have the baby, I’m worried about what my working world will look like by the time I come back to try and find gigs (Brexit/covid). This month, I feel like I couldn’t care less if I ever get another freelance job again 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 and just want to sleep and eat.

Once I’ve dropped the kids at school I think I might come up with a schedule, bit like your 7.30 to 17.30 - and tell myself I have to stick to it. Since Xmas everything has been a little too relaxed round these parts 👀

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 07/01/2021 20:23

Is anyone getting some serious Braxton Hicks? I’ve never had them in previous pregnancies but this time they’re here to party!

MForMed · 07/01/2021 21:02

@NotThatKindOfDoctor
Braxton Hicks (or at least I think it's that) only 1-2 a day, usually in the evening, but it doesn't hurt and I don't think it's concerning.

Just an update re birth plan - I spoke to my MW today, she confirmed we would talk about it in detail next time (35-36 weeks apt), but since I'm interested in ELCS, she'll book me in for a consultation over the next 2 weeks, so maybe worth checking asap with MW if you're thinking about CS.

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 07/01/2021 21:43

I’m not concerned about them, they’re just new for me. My husband has a little panic whenever they happen though 😂. They’re getting pretty strong now.

I have to have a CS because I’ve had 3 before. I get the date soon hopefully 🤞🏽

MForMed · 08/01/2021 09:23

@NotThatKindOfDoctor
Fingers crossed it all goes well this time around! I keep being told by friends and family that having CS will mean I might not be able to have another baby in the future Sad, that it might be more difficult to get pregnant (and it was hardcore this time already) and not to miscarry (also don't want it to happen ever again), so I'm still not sure.
I'm glad to see that that's not always the case, but if you've already had a CS, does it mean that you can't have a VB with any future pregnancies?

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 08/01/2021 10:55

I personally can't have a VBAC @MForMed simply because I have already had 3 c-sections.

My first was an emergency because I had undiagnosed preeclampsia and my organs started to fail.

I wanted a VBAC for number 2 but towards the end it became apparent that my son was going to be big (he was 10lb 01) so they said it would be too dangerous.

Then after you've had two you have to argue hard for a VBAC for the next and I didn't have the energy. Now that I have had three c-sections, a VBAC isn't permitted.

I have had no problems getting pregnant again caused by the operations. I have had one miscarriage (after DC2 and before DC3). It was an early miscarriage so they didn't investigate, so I can't say with absolute certainty that it wasn't related, but the fact I have had 2 successful pregnancies afterwards would indicate that the miscarriage had nothing to do with my history of c-sections.

So all in all, you're friends and family are being particularly unhelpful and sound a little misinformed to me - but thats just based on my experiences.

The best thing for you and the baby is to bring him/her into the world in the safest way possible. If in your circumstances that turns out to be a c-section, then an elective is much less stressful than an emergency, and A LOT easier to recover from.

PowPurry · 08/01/2021 14:56

@NotThatKindOfDoctor my braxton hicks have been intense since very early on. I’ll have between 5-10 a day! The mw said as long as they don’t get “regular” then not to worry.

I had a growth scan today, baby estimated at 3lb 1 which I thought was huge but actually it’s bang on.

They also said I’d have to have clexane injections after birth! Never had them before so I was baffled. They said it’s because I’m on number 4!

Lots of us due at the end of March which is nice as you can feel a bit behind sometimes.

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 08/01/2021 15:05

Do you think the intense Braxton Hicks are because we’re on baby number 4, @PowPurry?

I had to have the clexane injections after my last c-section. I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to injections so got my husband to do it. Compression tights for 2 weeks as well (another reason to be happy to have the baby in March and not heat of the summer!).

TH22 · 08/01/2021 15:08

Hi all, there are two groups on Facebook I can add you to if you want to send me a PM with your name (and indication of what your profile pic is) so I can find you!

PowPurry · 08/01/2021 15:22

Yes I think that may be something to do with it? I had them with #3 aswell. Maybe our bodies are just like, “been here, done this. I know the score.” Grin

Hmm the injection thing threw me off a bit I should have asked more about it. I was there waiting around for nearly 3 hours so by then I was just desperate to get out for some air. I have another appt at 36 weeks I’ll have to ask then.

LMG456 · 08/01/2021 21:10

Hi everyone. FTM here! Currently 28 weeks, due 31st March, although feels like she is trying to punch her way out of my tummy right now! Strange time to be pregnant I think and not how I expected it to be but wouldn't change it for the world.

LittleBrownBaby · 08/01/2021 23:34

Yay a March thread! I never did the FB group thing! I am having a c-section on 22nd March at 38 weeks (I'm actually due 3rd April). Third and last baby. I have had two MC.

Sunny68 · 08/01/2021 23:45

Hi Everyone!

Congratulations all. Expecting first baby boy, 30weeks on Sunday. I have been very lucky with pregnancy so far 🤞. Due on the 22nd but most likely a csection, waiting date confirmation. So glad to have this thread!

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 09/01/2021 08:02

@PowPurry as far as I can remember they are blood thinner injections to prevent post-op DVTs. They’re fine to have when breastfeeding. But yes, definitely find out more at your next appointment.

Hi @Sunny68, @LittleBrownBaby and @LMG456! 👋🏽 How are you all feeling?

Tipsygoalie · 09/01/2021 08:12

Morning everyone,
Another FTM here. Currently 29weeks and due 26th March. Finally started buying baby 'stuff' now and its actually hit home that there's not that long left! Hope everyone is keeping safe.

Karanciri · 09/01/2021 09:27

@Tipsygoalie we a due date twins! FTM, due 26th of march as well so 29 weeks. My little lass is very active, particularly at 4am (this doesn't bode well for my sleep I think!).

I'm starting to get bits and bobs together now as well, eek it all looks a lot more closer the other side of Christmas doesn't it?

Squellyolwelly · 09/01/2021 10:25

FTM due 25th march with a boy. Had a mmc in April last year. A little overwhelming trying to make sure I have everything I need without being able to go shopping but I’m getting there!

@Bearcub01i had 29 week midwife appt Thursday and she’s booked the next one for 3 weeks time then said it’s every 2 weeks after that. Not sure if it’s different in other areas though!

Tipsygoalie · 09/01/2021 12:02

@karanciri oh fab, great finding someone with the same due date Grin
Yes absolutely got more real after christmas/new year. Currently trying to get my head around cloth nappies....

LittleBrownBaby · 09/01/2021 21:32

Hi @NotThatKindOfDoctor - feeling ok thanks besides the heartburn, braxton hicks and intermittent sciatica!

My other kids are much older so nice to have a pregnancy boy running around after a toddler as I have done before. Just can't wait for him to be here.

How are you doing?

uptheantrimcoast · 10/01/2021 00:01

Hi all, I'm very happy to see a March thread!
I'm a FTM, 31+1 today, baby boy due 12th March. He's kicking away nicely at the moment and I'm starting to think about my hospital bag - not sure if it's still a bit early but I want to get it sorted. Has anyone got theirs packed already?

Karanciri · 10/01/2021 08:07

@Tipsygoalie oh I would love to use cloth nappies but I think that would push my partner over the edge Grin. I was thinking of using disposables and bringing it up again once we are a bit more settled.

@uptheantrimcoast I have been gathering some newborn/ up to a month vests and sleepsuits plus my sister's all have had 2 babies each in the last few years so I got a load of newborn nappies etc off of them. Haven't packed a bag as such but gathering in piles!

When are you all starting to wash all the new clothes?

Reflux is a real thing now for me, I never experienced it before but now it's awful. I don't get the burning sensation as such but fullness in my throat and feeling sick. Gaviscon is my best friend!
