Hey all,

I know this is bit of a long shot, but is anyone due in March 2021?

I appreciate everyone is from different places, but are there a few ladies that want to create a WhatsApp group or something so we can be “cyber mum friends”?

I know being a mum (or a first time mum in my case) can be very daunting and a scary time, and not only that, but it can be quite lonely.. so it’s be great if a few people would like to become “online friends” so we can just talk and have company/share experiences/worries/how bored they are Hmm

I've started gathering bits for my bag, I've got my maternity and breast pads, also just got spritz for bits and nipple balm delivered yesterday! Along with oil for perineal massage.....has anyone started or planning to start this 🤔I'm almost 32 weeks so gonna start soon.....

Good question re when to start washing all the babies clothes. I was just thinking about this yesterday. I will probably start in feb I think, maybe closer to mat leave

SkyBlue20 · 10/01/2021 11:51

I washed all of the clothes for the hospital bag this weekend, along with some extra sleep suits/vests and think I’ll do the rest when she’s here - I want to see what size she is before I commit to everything as may be able to exchange if anything is too small and the tags are still on, etc. Got the hospital bags pretty much packed and today we’re trying out the Next2Me just to see how much space it takes up in our room and what we might need to move around etc. It’s all getting very real, isn’t it?! 😬😱🥰

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 10/01/2021 19:33

@LittleBrownBaby we’re date twins. DS is due on 3rd April but I’m also having an elective. I haven’t been given a date yet though.

I’ve washed clothes as they’ve arrived because I was trying to get organised with what we already had and what we needed more of. I’ve a bit lost track again now so I need to have a look and then buy some bits for me to go in my hospital bag.

I’m not sure how much to take. On one hand they’re going to want you out quickly because of Covid but on the other hand you probably aren’t going to be allowed visitors so there’s no one to bring you any extras. What are other people thinking?

KJB2020 · 11/01/2021 06:23

H ladies can I join this thread? I’m in Scotland and currently 31 weeks with my first baby. Due March 16th and it’s all starting to feel very real now!

HungryHippo20 · 11/01/2021 06:52

@KJB2020 🙋🏻‍♀️ where about see you in Scotland? I'm in fjfe, I'm due 11th March - baby girl 🥰 do you know the sex of your baby? It's so real now and I'm feeling more uncomfortable every day 😱sleeping is the worst, just can't get comfy!!

uptheantrimcoast · 11/01/2021 08:55

@HungryHippo20 I've bought the oil too! I'll be starting in a couple of weeks but the thought of it is a bit weird atm. Also, the product having 'peri' in the name makes me thing it's going to be spicy ShockGrin

I want to wash all the clothes now, but I think I'll wait until Feb to do that.

@Tipsygoalie I'm also trying to get my head around cloth nappies! It's a bit of a minefield, so much choice. I've found The Nappy Lady very helpful so far though, and there's a handy FB group too.

HungryHippo20 · 11/01/2021 09:04

@uptheantrimcoast 😂😂😂can't say I had thought of that.....but I will now 😆 🔥

uptheantrimcoast · 11/01/2021 12:38

@HungryHippo20 Blush Hahaha sorry! I really hope it's not!

MForMed · 11/01/2021 13:46

@NotThatKindOfDoctor
Thank you very much for sharing your story here, it really gives me hope and it's great to hear that a CS doesn't mean you can't have a successful pregnancy afterwards. I'm very sorry to hear about your MC and glad to know that you're ok with baby no 4.

I'm very worried that in my case VB will most likely end in an EMCS as I've been suffering from SPD (since week 11 Sad) and our baby's more than likely going to be big as I'm tall and my DH is even taller and weighs twice as much! Kudos to all mums that manage to push their 9-10lbs babies out, I don't think I'll manage!

@LMG456 @LittleBrownBaby @Tipsygoalie @Sunny68 @Squellyolwelly @uptheantrimcoast Welcome to the March thread! Smile I hope everything is going well for you.

@uptheantrimcoast I've had a very basic hospital bag packed since forever - I'm a worrier and was afraid that should anything happen at any point no one would be able to deliver anything to me in the hospital. ATM I'm adding bits and pieces for the baby, although I've found a few different lists on the internet and not sure which one is the best. If I go ahead with the most comprehensive, I'll end up with a checked in luggage size of a trolley bag Shock.

Non first time mums, could you help and advise if there was anything on the hospital bag list that you could totally do without and anything that you felt was being missed out but very important?

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 11/01/2021 13:58

I think packing a hospital bag is slightly different in the current Covid context, because it’s unlikely that if you forget something or find you really want something, that your partner will be allowed to nip and out get it for you! So it’s probably best to be over prepared than under. This is the first baby I’ve had in France so I’ve no idea what will and won’t be provided, so I’m packing a lot! If there is a chance that you think you’ll have a c-section, I’d perhaps think about packing an extra paid of Pjs (and an extra sleepsuit for the baby) in case they decide to keep you in a little longer (the minimum stay here in normal times is 3 days but I’ve no idea if I’ll have to stay that long with all that’s going on).

I also had no idea how thirsty I would be, so I’d think about packing whatever it is that you really enjoy to drink (I always take some posh apple juice - though not this time thanks to GD - and some coconut water). My husband will be taking a lot of snacks 😂

FairyLights2 · 11/01/2021 16:25

Hi ladies! So happy I found this thread. I'm due late March.

@serialplanner I'm making my way through the hypnobirthing course too. I absolutely love it!

I just had my GTT test. Almost fainted when the midwife took my blood. That wasn't easy.

Hope everyone is doing well ❤️

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 11/01/2021 17:25

Hi ladies,

I’m looking for a little WWYD advice.

I think I’ll probably be having my CS around the 2nd March (that’s when I’ll be 39 weeks) although there is a chance I’d have to have it a week earlier, in which case this wouldn’t matter. But...

My kids have half term holiday for 2 weeks from the 5th Feb. Obviously we will be isolating during the break to minimise the risks of me or my husband (so they will let him in the hospital) getting Covid before the operation. The date of the holidays however mean that the kids are back at school for a whole a week prior to me going into hospital, which sort of negates the whole isolating process (although all kids and teachers have to wear masks).

So my question is this: would you keep your kids off for that week after the half term/before the CS? Keeping kids off school here isn’t a big deal, I’d just have to send them an email to let them know and they’d send home any work that needed to be done.

MForMed · 11/01/2021 18:59

@FairyLights2 Congratulations and welcome Smile!
Could you recommend a hypnobirthing course? I'm thinking CS but would like to prepare just in case.

@NotThatKindOfDoctor I can imagine giving birth in France might be a bit different. Hopefully they're just as good as the NHS. Is your DH allowed in at all during the delivery? Fingers crossed all goes well!

FairyLights2 · 11/01/2021 19:13

@MForMed I highly recommend the hypnobirthing course by ThePositiveBirthCompany: https://thepositivebirthcompany.co.uk/digital-pack?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8pzk6cqU7gIVAdPtCh3YXgTjEAAYASAAEgIljDD_BwE it's called the Digital Pack.

How many weeks are you? This course has definitely made me feel more prepared.

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 11/01/2021 19:18

Luckily @MForMed, the French healthcare system is incredible. In my local hospital they have 30 private rooms so that most, if not all women can have a private room after labour. That also means that my DH will be able to stay with me in my room (so long as he doesn’t get covid!) the whole time I’m there, which after having a CS is so helpful because picking the baby up is so difficult to do, and I always feel terrible about buzzing the midwifes every 20 minutes to help 🙈

I’m just wondering whether people would keep their kids off school for the extra week to reduce the covid risks?

KB13 · 11/01/2021 19:46

@MForMed One thing that I’m making sure I have that I didn’t take with my previous 2 is a bag of snacks. Nipping out to get food won’t be easy in the present time, so I’m making sure I have things like Lucozade sports (brilliant for keeping your energy up during labour....also they taste the same when you throw it back up 😅) crisps, breakfast bars.

KJB2020 · 11/01/2021 21:02

@HungryHippo20 I’m in Aberdeenshire. Yeah I’m the same, more uncomfortable by the day and really struggling with sleep - just can’t get comfy at night and get so restless! I don’t know the sex of baby - waiting for a surprise.

Have you had a good pregnancy? So exciting to be this near the end now!

Mahdia · 11/01/2021 21:55

Hi everyone
I'm new here so bit nervous!Smile I'm also due March (10th) and feeling quite nervous as i have pelvic girdle pain so not sure how labour will go but hopefully i can have normal delivery! :) My daughter will be two end of January so running (or not so :) after an active toddler doesn't help with the pain either!!Confused
Hope everyone's labour goes well and hopefully all this pandemic stuff will fade towards our due dateGrin

MForMed · 12/01/2021 11:09

@Mahdia Welcome and congratulations!
I feel for you, also have had PGP for ages and thinking about CS because of that. I can't imagine having to look after a toddler when you can't move, sit or sleep!!!

@KB13 many thanks for the advice. I'll pack a bag of sweets and snacks, I take it you'll get a proper meal in the hospital otherwise?

@NotThatKindOfDoctor I'm glad to hear you'll be looked after well. I must admit I'm a bit jealous your DH can stay with you throughout your stay Smile. I don't have any kids, but if I were you I wouldn't like to risk sending kids to school for a week. A week's absence won't change much for them and it might complicate everything should they be in contact with someone infected. Whatever you decide - good luck and hope it goes well.

@FairyLights2 Many thanks for the recommendation, I'll have a look at that today. I'm 33 weeks in today, 7 (or less?) to go and wondering how long a person can go without sleep Grin. Soooo tired!

HungryHippo20 · 12/01/2021 11:32

@NotThatKindOfDoctor I don't have any kids either but for what it's worth I'd keep them off in your scenario too 👍🏻

Mahdia · 12/01/2021 22:30

@MforMed thank you! Yeah PGP is quite painful especially night time when you're turning (or trying!!!Grin) and when you sit on floor. Sleep is another thing atm (that's why I'm typing this time trying not to sleepHalo)
Hope everyone and your families are doing well!
Turning 32 weeks tomorrow, it really feels like time is taking its sweeeet time!!!!
Night night my lovelies Smile

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 13/01/2021 13:50

Thanks - I think that’s what I’ll do. I’ve another appointment tomorrow with my gyny so will speak to him about it as well.

On a totally different note, I was wondering how active everyone is at the moment. 2 weeks ago I was still going for very slow, very short jogs. Now, I have to have a nap after a short dog walk. It’s been so long since I was last pregnant so I can’t remember when this kicked in last time, but was hoping to stay more active for a bit longer.

PowPurry · 13/01/2021 13:59

@NotThatKindOfDoctor I’m a big believer in listening to your body. We are getting on a bit now, so we will naturally start to slow down. Especially for us with three others around!

It’s funny you should say after the dog walk, as I could always nap after a walk. Even a short one. I can’t comment on the jogging, as the only time I’d run is if something scary was chasing me Grin

KB13 · 13/01/2021 14:20

@Mahdia I was saying to my husband yesterday that the days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like months now. Can’t wait until our little man is finally here.

HungryHippo20 · 13/01/2021 14:32

@NotThatKindOfDoctor a ten minute walk is the most I can manage nowadays and even at that I'm soooo slow. My husband said it was like being out for a walk with a snail the other day 🤣🤣I've hardly even been getting out for a walk because of the snow and ice, too scared I fall!! Climbing the stairs in the house is a chore just now too! Feels like when I left my knees they hit my bump 😆
