As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I was feeling really anxious this morning. Been out for a long walk and come home feeling much better. Think the self isolating is starting to kick in an I was just going a bit stir crazy!

@Stef92 very organised of you with the frozen meals really good idea! I still haven't finished baby's hospital bag, although almost there think I just need to sterilise her bottles so they can be packed along with a few other small bits xx

Idkwt2do · 17/01/2021 15:36

Thank you. I think they saw that I was just getting on with it and assumed everything is ok, it’s my 3rd, I’ve not ever had any complications etc. It’s definitely been an experience through lockdown tho, I’ve not wanted to cause any unnecessary drama knowing midwives are stretched, as is everyone at the moment. But I think it’s backfired and now I’ve just been left until the last minute. It’s my own fault really, I have just struggled to find out any new information on home births since the new lockdown came into place. I was expecting them to ask me for a covid test at 38 weeks but I didn’t hear anything. (Then tried to ignore it all again) 🤦🏼‍♀️

My own worst enemy.
Thank you so much for your reply. Xxx

Safxxx · 17/01/2021 16:00

@Idkwtdo its their job, you don't need to feel guilty about chasing them. Do get in touch with your midwife and get more support As soon as possible. They can hopefully give you the option of home birth if thats what you want and all is well. Xx

babydust2412 · 17/01/2021 16:01

@Muriel84 Was feeling better this morning but we decided to go on a long walk today that ended up being muddy and difficult 😂 so definitely feeling all the pressure and cramps again after that, hoping it may have helped move things a long a little more 🤞🏼

Stef92 · 17/01/2021 16:03

@jbx10 I'm going to redo my hospital bag as the bag I've got at the moment is too small and I've not managed to put any clothes in for me yet.

My husbands aunty recommended these www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/283467953 for the bottles to take in to hospital to save sterilising before you go in. She said she used them for her girls, there's only 10 years between her and my husband so she's had her kids recent 🤣

Safxxx · 17/01/2021 16:04

@jbx10 Its good to get out and about even if its for a little bit.
I really would love a walk in the park, but i know i would only come back with pelvic pains so i stay home unless its grocery shopping or appts. It can be hard 😩

babydust2412 · 17/01/2021 16:04

@Idkwt2do bless you 💙 my trust have suspended home births currently but I'm pretty sure most still are doing them 😊 definitely chase up the midwives, they are there to care for you so don't ever feel bad xx

Safxxx · 17/01/2021 16:14

@babydust2412 lets hope the walks done you good in moving things along 🤞

@Stef92 I didn't know they made pre made formulas with teats ready to drink...
I bought Aptamil brand they do pre mades in closed top bottles only. But yeah thats a very good idea...i've already sterilused 2 bottles and a soother and put away in hospital bag. Xx

SearchingForToes · 17/01/2021 16:41

@Idkwt2do that’s terrible you haven’t seen anyone in so long! Are you supposed to see someone at the hospital or a community midwife? May be worth phoning your local maternity assessment unit ASAP if you don’t have any direct numbers?

I don’t know what it’s like where you are but in my area a) you need to let them know before 35w if you want a homebirth so they can visit and assess you and b) they’ve been suspended at the moment due to ambulance shortages :/

babydust2412 · 17/01/2021 17:12

@Stef92 I've bought those exact premade milks for my hospital bag! 😊

babydust2412 · 17/01/2021 17:13

@Safxxx I really hope so 🤞🏼🤞🏼😊

Newmumfeb2021 · 17/01/2021 17:49

Thank you @Safxxx and @pampero I’ve been trying to avoid paracetamol for 2 days and nights in a row. I’ve tried today what you’ve mentioned and took a nice nap. It’s slightly better but not gone. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep for a third night without paracetamol.

Also caught up with last few messages- I was measuring 33@33weeks. My MW said it was normal and within the 50th percentile.

Thinking about what I would like to do after my baby is born - like many of you ladies I’d like to sleep on my front or back or however I want without worrying about squashing the baby. I think I’ve forgotten how that feels like. 😊 Some Pimms too by spring/summer, but I’d like to give a try to BF for a few months.

Newmumfeb2021 · 17/01/2021 17:58

@Stef92 I’ve ordered the same thing but aptamil brand. In case my milk doesn’t come out. Is cow gate better ?

Newmumfeb2021 · 17/01/2021 18:00

@Idkwt2do so sorry for how you’ve been feeling. Hopefully someone is able to help you tomorrow at your community MW. For me they’ve always given me a next date to meet at every appointment which is usually every 3 weeks.

Stef92 · 17/01/2021 18:05

@Newmumfeb2021 I have no idea which is better, I'm hoping to breastfeed but she told me to be prepared in case

Idkwt2do · 17/01/2021 18:34

@SearchingForToes I think this is why I’ve been worried to be honest, I’ve not had any information about home births being suspended, surly they would have told me by now, but the ambulance shortages is my worry, incase of an emergency, they have known I’ve wanted a home birth since I fell pregnant. My daughter was delivered at home 3 years ago, it was an amazing experience, I get very nervous about pretty much everything and I found it so comforting and in control, being at home. I suppose it’s why I’ve just got on with it and haven't chased the midwives, in fear of going into hospital alone. Physically this pregnancy has been painful, I’ve just blamed being older, less fit, and having a very strong baby, boy or girl, I think I’m growing a mini hulk, haha, but I’m very lucky that I’ve never had any issues.
I think I need to brave it and make a phone call tomorrow. Thanks ladies for your help. I wish you all the best with your little ones.

Muriel84 · 17/01/2021 23:01

@babydust2412 aw glad you’re feeling better. We went for a long muddy walk too and I felt fine until we got to 7km and then I came over really faint. Fortunately we weren’t too far from home but it took a lot of effort to get back! Feel so swollen and sore in my pelvic area since. Standing up cooking tea didn’t help.

Ooh those pre-made bottles look good. I just have a couple without teets cos hoping to bf. Can you sterilise things at the hospital? I didn’t think there was much point sterilising now as could be ages yet.

My antenatal class midwife told us all baby milk is the same just with different branding cos it would be unethical to have different formulas. So I just went for cow and gate cos it was cheapest.

Return of the insomnia! Restless legs, can't get comfy. And I'm also lying in bed starving as if I'm back in the first trimester again.

babbit87 · 18/01/2021 07:47

@IamC aw I hope you managed to get some rest in the end? I had a bad night too, between my DD "mummy I've done a wee" in the middle of the night (why do they never ask for daddy??) And back ache, hip ache, leg ache tossing and turning then end up pulling my bump muscles it was a disaster! I'm gonna use waiting in for my Asda delivery as an excuse for a lazy day today!!

babbit87 · 18/01/2021 07:49

I'm hoping to BF too, had a little trouble with it coming last time and the hospital gave me formula to "get baby used to sucking" so they do have some supplies if it doesn't work out.

IamC · 18/01/2021 08:36

@babbit87 not much, but matleave starts today so don't technically need any brain power today. Shame I have to get up for a midwife appointment though. I see a nap in my future.

IamC · 18/01/2021 08:37

@babbit87 sounds like a good excuse for you to keep it lazy today too!

Muriel84 · 18/01/2021 09:24

@IamC aw I was up from 4am too. Baby was dancing for hours in between Braxton hicks. First day of mat leave for me too tho 🙌 so back in bed now. Rest well! X x x

jbx10 · 18/01/2021 09:29

@Muriel84 @IamC I'm jealous! Enjoy your first days of mat leave. I am well and truly on the countdown... 2 weeks to go!

I also had a bad nights sleeping last night. She didn't give me any of her usual kicks when I went for my 1am wee so I couldn't really sleep until she'd given me a good few strong kicks! Hips are also killing me now at around 3/4am - are a lot of you ladies sleeping upright now? X

OnNaturesCourse · 18/01/2021 10:03

I am very jealous of the naps today.

My 3 year old is not going to let that happen lol.

We planned this age gap so she'd be at nursery some days so I could rest (I need a lot of sleep naturally) but covid had other ideas for that! 😴
