As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
babydust2412 · 14/11/2020 20:36

@IamC I have a feeling my bubs is going to be a pain in the bum and make me go overdue 😂 xx

OnNaturesCourse · 14/11/2020 20:46
@OnNaturesCourse do you rate the snuzpod? I want to get one of the bedside cribs but unsure whether to go for the snuzpod or the chicco. There are just too many bloody decisions to make with everything! Even blankets! Nothing is simple... x x x
@Muriel84 I highly rate it. DD absolutely loved it and it holds up well. Only thing is it's a little heavy so although it's advertised as portable, it's really not especially once baby is in it. I used to drag it room from room, but there's no way I'd be able to lift it up or down stairs etc.

We are thinking of just putting this LO straight into the cot upstairs, and use the snuzpod downstairs - anyone know if you "can" do this? I feel he might feel a bit lost in the massive cot.

wannabe123 · 14/11/2020 20:55

@OnNaturesCourse we were thinking of doing the same with putting baby straight into the cot because our bed and mattress are so high that none of the next to me cribs go high enough. However, I've heard that some babies can't sleep in cots because it feels so big for them. We've been given a Moses basket so we are going to use that to start with at least and then we can always bring the cot into our bed if baby grows out of the Moses basket too quickly.

OnNaturesCourse · 14/11/2020 22:16

That was my concern too, that it would feel too big for him. Wonder if a sleepyhead would help?

wannabe123 · 15/11/2020 08:05

I've heard that sleepyheads aren't actual safe for overnight sleeping in.

Muriel84 · 15/11/2020 08:36

@OnNaturesCourse thanks for the advice! We’re in a flat so won’t be lugging it up and down stairs.

Babs was moving so frantically last night I nearly phoned the midwives. Really fast frantic movements and smaller ones in between. I swear it hasn’t rested at all every time I’ve been awake it’s moving. Still going now but more gentle. Not sure what it’s up to... other than worrying me! X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 15/11/2020 14:02

@wannabe123

Oh really? I didn't know that!

@Muriel84 definitely good for a flat, and ours has lasted through two babies and is still in amazing condition so they hold their value well.

babydust2412 · 15/11/2020 15:10

I've also heard sleepyheads are unsafe for babies to sleep in overnight, my midwife told me about it all xx

IamC · 15/11/2020 15:19

Yeah we did an online antenatal class and they mentioned safety concerns over sleepyheads, and said if you must have one, make sure it's used under strict supervision. Scared me off a bit as we were planning on getting one

Muriel84 · 15/11/2020 15:24

Are they ok for using during the day if you want to put the baby down on the sofa etc? They’re really expensive for what they are...

I start bump and baby classes tomorrow eve. V excited tho sad it can’t be in person.

@Safxxx how are you doing? Xxx

Stef92 · 15/11/2020 15:50

My back has been in agony all day, I think baby must be lying on a nerve or something. I've taken paracetamol and have a hot water bottle, will be going for a walk soon. Any tips on how to get rid of the pain?

Harehopper234 · 15/11/2020 16:31

Another that fell off the other thread slightly! Hope everyone is well, most of us just knocking at the door to the last trimester 😊
@Stef92 I can relate to the back pain 😔 I had also put it down to baby on a nerve but it's been constant now for over a week. It's on my right side over the back of my ribs. Paracetamol not touching it and we've only got a shower, no bath so I can't have a soak.
Hope yours eases off soon and I'll be following for any tips!

Stef92 · 15/11/2020 16:57

@Harehopper234 it's only been today, not sure I could cope with a week (hope your pain eases soon) Mine is lower back, I'm tempted to ring the GP tomorrow to find out what I can take over paracetamol, we've got all sorts of deep heat rubs etc in but don't think we can take them 😩

Safxxx · 15/11/2020 18:57

For those of you saying cots can feel big, they sure can, previously for my other kids we had a cot bed..we bought a cot divider which you can fix with straps and is very safe, we put just below the foot of the baby, and as they grow, you can move the divider further back as needed..so the baby feels secure in a small place rather then a big spacious cot. Xx

Safxxx · 15/11/2020 19:02

@Muriel84 thanks for the mention, I wasn't aware of this 2nd thread...
Nice to hear your baby is overly active lately lol..
Last few days I feel pains on both sides of the bump, and lower abdomen and pelvic area...specialy when I'm busy standing around doing housework etc...it comes in waves, can be quite painful, upon resting it eases off.

Safxxx · 15/11/2020 19:22

I see few of you got GTT coming up! Mines at the end of month... need to go for 3 hrs not looking foward to it...i will miss my breakfast lol
@IamC my 2 kids were a couple of days away from their due date..but my 3rd one was a whole month early, he was due February but came in January
Feel like I'll be jinxed, I hope not I could do with the full term baby at he's due date not earlier....as that would mean extra days in hospital which I don't want, they kept me for 7 days last time...i was crying to go back home, although early, baby was fine..but they have to go thru so much tests etc and on 4th day they said he's a bit jaundice so put him under the light...it was a long and stressful time.
So I'm hoping this one don't come early.
Ideally I want a quick delivery and be home in a day or 2 the most 🤞

I heard from others they Can't leave hospital till they've had the covid test...and till results are back. Not looking foward to that, and now that the vaccination will be available from next month...i wonder will they vaccinate us upon leaving?
I'm against the test and vaccination

Stef92 · 15/11/2020 19:43

@Safxxx I've not been offered a GTT, is this something I should be having?

Lucybbb · 15/11/2020 19:55

@Safxxx
Would you feel able to decline a vaccine if offered? Nothing is mandatory but sometimes it's easier said than done isn't it

Lucybbb · 15/11/2020 19:59
@Safxxx I've not been offered a GTT, is this something I should be having?
No in the UK it's only offered to people considered to have risk factors for developing gestational diabetes, or if you have multiple episodes of glucose in your urine (one of the reasons your midwife will offer to test your urine each appointment). In the USA I think it's offered to everyone but that's a private health system (more tests = more profit).
It's a controversial test/diagnosis anyway so don't worry about not being offered it

Safxxx · 15/11/2020 20:03

@Stef92 I'm offered it as both my parents have diabetes.... so far I've been fine..in previous pregnancies I've not had any problems with my glucose levels. They will only test you if theirs a risk. Xx

Safxxx · 15/11/2020 20:10

@Lucybbb Well they plan to give these vaccinations to everyone eventually...even if we could decline it at first, we have to have it sooner or later as they will make it hard for us.

Lucybbb · 15/11/2020 20:24

@Safxxx well currently as far as I can think no vaccine in the UK is mandated so 🤞😬

Muriel84 · 15/11/2020 21:38

My hospital give GTT to every woman! They love it. X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 16/11/2020 00:30

Anyone else having pain under their ribs, sort of to the side? I feel like it's too stretched, and it feels fit to snapping when taking a deep breath. It's like my "carrying low" bump is pulling on my muscle and skin there.

Safxxx · 16/11/2020 07:31

@OnNaturesCourse yes I've been getting that last few day's, also down the sides And when that happens the back hurts too, and i get very breathless, upon resting it all eases off. I was told by midwife it's stretching pains, as the uterus is getting higher. Xx
