Just wanted to speak with someone who's just found out their expecting too?

Feeling very anxious due to previously having misscarriages

Yes the winter clothes are so much cuter than the summer stuff! I've done the same, a super fluffy little all in one, with bear ears on the hood 😂 had to be in size 6 months though so almost a year to wait until he can even wear it

Serz88 · 10/01/2021 19:31

Mine has ears too! 🥰 My fiance loved pokemon as a kid and has always said when he has a baby he wants to dress it up in a Snorlax onesie so I managed to track one down! Just hope it arrives in time for his birthday at the end of the month. Winter is so much fun to buy for, although if the craziness of the world calms down we are having our postponed wedding in August so will definitely look forward to a gorgeous outfit for my own little flower girl or page boy 😍

lucymagoo · 10/01/2021 21:43

Awh that sounds lovely, our friend have postponed twice and now are getting married in September pandemic or not. I think things will be pretty much back to normal by then, fingers crossed 🤞🏼

mouldygrapes · 11/01/2021 09:15

I haven’t bought anything yet! We’ve been gifted a few outfits and little bits. 21+3 now, lots of movement but my partner can’t really feel her yet.
It’s been so busy with work and then I’m knackered on the weekends. With the shops being closed and COVID being what it is I just haven’t got my head round stuff!

RustyCat · 11/01/2021 09:51

22wk today and haven't felt any movements from the twins 😭 but I have 2 anterior placentas so that's probably why.

I've bought a few lovely little outfits but trying to not over buy just yet as I really have no idea how small or big they are going to be 🤣.

Catisa · 11/01/2021 10:35

Hello! I am at week 21+2 and I do feel some movements but nothing really clear, I constantly think maybe I am making it up! Anyway I think is still early, until 24 weeks I've read is normal not to feel or be sure

RustyCat · 12/01/2021 10:01

@catisa it could be baby moving! I have had the odd thing but not really sure if it's one of the twins or not.

The only certain one was on Sunday when I was laying on the sofa I had my cup of tea on my bump and one of them booted it 🤣 my whole cup wobbled, didn't feel them hit or kick but I felt and saw the cup shaking.

So there must definitely be movement from them but I'm just well cushioned with my placentas that I can't feel it yet.

Catisa · 13/01/2021 09:00

Hello ladies! How are you? I had my 20 weeks scan yesterday and all good! I am soo relieved! It took quite a while to get it done because baby was in an awkward position but at the end everything got checked and midwife could conclude all is normal.
@RustyCat I now think is definitely the baby, it's more like little kicks, even my husband was able to feel them yesterday!
By the way ladies have you thought about when to start your maternity leave? Is it crazy to be willing to work until my due date? I am convinced baby will come late

lucymagoo · 14/01/2021 11:53

@Catisa good to hear all is well! Our holiday year at work starts in January so I'm going to use up all my holiday days right before the due date, so I'm off from 9th April. Hoping it will fly by!

Does anyone else have no appointments booked now? I had something coming up from the first booking appointment and now nothing. Assuming the midwife will get in contact with me whenever my next appointment is supposed to be

dellarossa · 14/01/2021 12:09

Hi ladies, hope you’re all well!

@lucymagoo I have my 24(ish) week scan booked in for 10th February, although I’ve been told it will be a phone appointment which is a bit disappointing as they won’t be able to measure bump or listen to the heartbeat! I’m sure they will be in touch with you but no harm in calling them to book in if you’d like to get it arranged ASAP.

20 week scan was all good & I’m starting to feel some definite movements now! I have an anterior placenta so wasn’t sure I would for a while. They’re not kicks as such but they almost feel like little bubbles inside. Is anyone else getting obsessed with counting the movements already?! I always thought I’d feel more relaxed when I could feel her move but now when I don’t feel her for a few hours I end up jiggling around or eating something sweet (any excuse!) to make her move - I probably need to chill out and let her sleep!

I’m hoping to work pretty much up until my due date too @Catisa - but will play it by ear and make sure to get everything ready for handover in plenty of time just in case she makes an early appearance!

dellarossa · 14/01/2021 12:10

EDIT: I meant 24 week midwife appt, not scan!

Catisa · 16/01/2021 19:29

Hi Ladies! I hope your weekend is going well

Definitely will go for my due date as maternity leave start date, maybe I am crazy but I want to try to spend as much of my leave with the baby. In any case, I can still change my mind later on.

With regards to the baby movement, it's very irregular on my side, some days I feel a lot and some other days nothing, I am not sure if it is reassuring or the contrary!!

I have two more appointments booked, the 25 weeks and the 28 weeks, then nothing after that. I plan to book the rest when I go back for my next one. So far, it looks like I'll go to the hospital as usual, they haven't told me otherwise, I hope it continues like this.

By the way, what about antenatal courses? Have you booked yet? i am looking at NCT courses, they look professional.

Take care ladies

Serz88 · 17/01/2021 23:17

@Catisa I looked at the NCT but considering they won't be in person I think the price they are charging is astronomical! The Baby Academy are doing a free 2 hour online workshop on Saturdays you can sign up to. Doing one this Saturday coming and depending on how I find that they also do a full day course in person if that is able to go ahead I'd look to go in March.
Apart from that I haven't got any other ideas, always planned on going to as many as I could before having my first baby. Also thought I'd have a baby shower but that's also looking rather unlikely :/

Catisa · 18/01/2021 08:29

Morning! @Serz88 actually you are right, I've just received an email from NCT with the details of the course I was enquiring and it's £350!!! I didn't think it could be that expensive. I will think very well before paying that. Thank you for the tip about the Baby Academy, I saw it this weekend and I was unsure of booking it but now I've just did! Just in case I don't go for the other one

mouldygrapes · 18/01/2021 10:17

We’ve almost filled up this thread!

@Catisa - I’ve heard mixed reviews of NCT, and hadn’t even looked at the price but that’s crazy!
We have booked a local class (bump & baby) which will either be zoom or in person (I’m guessing Zoom as starts in March) but with some catch up sessions planned for late summer, we felt more hopeful that those could be in person and it would be lovely to meet some local parents.

RustyCat · 18/01/2021 10:24

The price of some of them is outrageous especially as they are online and not in person!

Have to admit I don't think I'll overly bother with going to them as I can find bits online or by chatting to you guys.

Serz88 · 18/01/2021 10:57

@rustycat I agree, I'd be happy to pay if it's in person and I'd be able to meet local mums and that.
Although has anyone tried the peanut app? It's like a dating app but for mum's to find local mums! Haha

RustyCat · 18/01/2021 11:23

@Serz88 I tried it but it was so weird asking me to swipe left or right I uninstalled it 🤣

lucymagoo · 18/01/2021 17:51

Okay I've messaged my midwife, sounds like I should have something booked in for the next few weeks then!
I've paid for an NCT, did the monthly payments so it wasn't too bad but now I'm thinking it may have been a bit of a bad idea. The point was to meet other local mums but now we've decided to move an hour away instead so is probably pointless, especially being on zoom Grin oh well

Catisa · 18/01/2021 18:40

Hello, actually the price was £320 not £350, sorry I looked first thing in the morning and I think I was not fully awake. In any case it's still quite expensive. I've talked about it with a colleague at work and she thought it was totally worth it because of the network you gain with people in our area. She also said some other friends did it online and they still managed to get in touch with the people from the group when restrictions lifted. It is true that the course promises a meeting after birth so in any case if it has to be done online you can still have the hope that you will be able to meet later (hopefully no lockdown in June?!) I don't know, I am thinking about it

lucymagoo · 18/01/2021 18:55

Mine was £260, it is still a lot of money. Everyone I've heard from said it was well worth it so I hope they're right. I've also been doing the positive birth company digital pack which for £39 is incredibly informative and good value I think.
