Luckily I am feeling some flutters of movement but am definitely counting down the days until my 20 week scan to get that reassurance again that baby is OK and see them moving. We are having a private one and getting the dvd of it so I will probably be watching that every other day :P

mouldygrapes · 11/12/2020 15:40

Is anyone else getting random pains in their breasts? Sometimes shooting, sometimes a bit sharp - I assume it’s blood vessels or milk ducts growing, but it can catch me off guard some days!

Catisa · 11/12/2020 16:04

Hello mouldygrapes
No pain in my breasts, they have been quiet for a while, at the beginning I was feeling much more. It sounds quite uncomfortable though!
What I have is slight pains in my belly, sometimes in one side, sometimes in the other. Not intense but just some discomfort, anyone has the same? Not like cramps more like internal? Not sure how to explain

lucymagoo · 11/12/2020 17:59

@mouldygrapes yes! I'm having it in both. Sharp stabbing pains and only started this week. Reassuring to know I'm not alone Grin

Trousersareoverrated · 11/12/2020 18:44

Oh I remember the stabbing pains from last time. The joy!! Had my 16 week appointment today and heard the heartbeat which was nice. I felt like the rest of the appointment was a bit of a waste of time though and my midwife didn’t seem very knowledgeable.

mouldygrapes · 11/12/2020 20:06

Nice to know I’m not alone @lucymagoo @Trousersareoverrated - my left breast is particularly painful this evening!!

@Catisa I’ve had a few random pains like you describe, I think it could be ligaments stretching ?

I felt the 16/40 check was a bit pointless too, mostly as it was all over the phone. I’ve been told they don’t listen in to heartbeat till 28 weeks “under COVID protocols”.
Luckily I work very closely with a midwife who has said she will check for me after 20 weeks - but it’s a bit shit especially as they seem to be doing it more regularly in other Trusts across the country.

Catisa · 11/12/2020 21:06

Ok, good to know i am not alone! Thank you! Definitely something stretching in there...
It's a shame you don't get face to face appointments but the only thing it was worth it for was to hear the heartbeat, the rest it was quite rushed. My husband asked when would the baby start to hear us and the midwife was like...do you have the baby buddy app? It tells you all these things... I am rolling my eyes right now just remembering this answer

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 11/12/2020 21:15

Just realised I wasn’t offered a 16 week appointment! Although sounds like I didn’t miss much... I wonder why though.

Serz88 · 12/12/2020 10:57

Personal question. Does anyone have breast implants? I had mine done when I was 20 as I had a deformity in mine so they didn't grow, so had reconstructive surgery to lower the mammory fold and insert implants. So my breasts are about 95% silicone. I've been told that with my condition there is a chance that like my breasts my milk ducts won't have developed. But I've had a few slight pains and my nipples are changing, more so in my right then left. Just wondering if anyone else here has any experience of pregnancy breast pain with implants

RustyCat · 12/12/2020 17:20

@AtLeastThreeDrinks I had to book mine, same with all my future appointments bar my 20 week scan so far. It's possible your trust works the same way, I would contact your doctor's or midwife to book (mines book through the doctor's).

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 12/12/2020 18:06

Thanks @RustyCat, think I got used to them just booking me in! I'll give them a call on Monday. I've not even been assigned a midwife, everything's just been through the hospital. Feels a bit confusing!

RustyCat · 12/12/2020 20:17

@AtLeastThreeDrinks tell me about it! I was told I'd have to see a consultant and I've had one appointment which was rushed and done in like 10 mins, no bloods info or test info given and told to book midwife appointment for 26 weeks and book back in with her at 28 weeks 🙄. Honestly it feels a bit shoddy!

RustyCat · 14/12/2020 15:02

Omg I just received my maternity bras I ordered from Amazon..they aren't the most glamorous looking for sure but they are super comfortable 🤣!

I ended up getting the hofish ones from Amazon. Highly recommend!

dellarossa · 15/12/2020 11:21

Morning ladies! I hope you’re all well. We have our private scan this evening to confirm the sex - we did Harmony at 10 weeks which said girl but haven’t told anyone yet as we wanted to see her first just to make absolutely sure it was right!

I’m really nervous today! Does anyone else get really anxious about scans every time? I thought I’d find it easier as time went on but I’m terrified that there will be something wrong, even though I heard the heartbeat less than a week ago! Arrrgggghhh, I can’t concentrate on work or anything else today...

RustyCat · 15/12/2020 14:54

@dellarossa oh how exciting for you! I know you've already been told by the Harmony test but it'll be lovely for you to see baby again!

It's understandable to be nervous before a scan, I was nervous at my 12wk and my private scan and tbh I'm getting nervous about the 20wk scan. I think it's perfectly normal.

Serz88 · 15/12/2020 20:30

Yeah nervous wreck before every scan! Let us know if the harmony test was right :)

dellarossa · 16/12/2020 08:41

Morning everyone - scan went well thanks, all looking good and they confirmed it was a girl! She was in a really good position & we got a v clear shot which was great! 😀

We’re going to do a mini gender reveal with close family when we see them at Christmas, I’ve ordered some ‘boy or girl?’ crackers with pink confetti in them! Thanks for your kind words!

Trousersareoverrated · 16/12/2020 14:19

Lovely to have it confirmed @dellarossa - I have a little girl and she is just the best (although I’m 100% sure I’d say the same if she had been a boy). Most of my friends who had babies around the same age had boys- she was a little slower to walk and crawl than most of them and she was a bit less cuddly but now she is 2 she can communicate much better verbally than any of them and is just the funniest, chattiest little person (although she does have her moments!).

Serz88 · 16/12/2020 20:31

@dellarossa I love the idea of gender reveal crackers!! Sounds brilliant!

lucymagoo · 22/12/2020 21:08

How is everyone? I had my 20 week today and all good, lovely to see his little face and hands waving around again. I have a bump and can feel little kicks it's all getting very real finally Smile

Catisa · 22/12/2020 22:06

Ohh nice Lucymagoo!! That's great to hear.
On my side all good, still not feeling anything but I think I am behind all of you (18+3). I can't wait

Serz88 · 22/12/2020 22:29

Oh lovely!
I'm 19+1 today, have got my private scan tomorrow and NHS one on the 30th. I cannot wait to see baby, I have a proper bump starting to show now and feeling more movement as well. So excited as we are getting a dvd of the scan to show family when we can finally see them as we are now in tier *&+>#@/ 4

lilly02 · 23/12/2020 08:05

I'm due on the 21st of may xx

RustyCat · 23/12/2020 08:54

@lucymagoo oh how exciting!!! My 20wk scan is on the 31st when I'll be 20+4. Can't wait to see the twins again!

Serz88 · 23/12/2020 10:39

@rustycat it's so lovely that you're having twins! Doubly exciting
