But planning to wait until January sales!

mouldygrapes · 26/11/2020 09:12

@Catisa I’m looking at the yo-yo too, heard good things.
Do baby things normally go on sale in January? I have no idea!!

Catisa · 26/11/2020 09:39

My sister in law has it and she is very happy with it. The only thing I don't like is that it kind of looks small/low in comparison with the normal prams that don't fold, buy hey the ability of folding the whole chair to the size of a bag is such an advantage that I can forgive that!
Usually most of the stock goes on sale in January, I don't know specifically for baby stuff but I expect so. At least definitely baby clothes will go on sale, so I am hoping there are discounts on the rest!

bloomety · 26/11/2020 12:17

@Trousersareoverrated My toddler will be 3 too when baby comes! I wondered about a buggy board but he walks everywhere anyway. He's refused to go in the buggy for about a year now though...however I'm sure he'll think a buggy board is fun.

I think we're all very lucky, ladies, to be having our babies when we are, covid-19 will mostly be behind us as all the vulnerable should have been vaccinated by then. This means the baby classes and play gyms etc can open again.

bloomety · 26/11/2020 12:17

I have the mamas and papas occaro that I'll be using again with the baby. The only problem with it is how heavy it is.

Catisa · 26/11/2020 12:50

@bloomety ohh I hope you are right and we are back to normal when our babies are born!

Trousersareoverrated · 26/11/2020 13:07

Fingers crossed @bloomety! It’s actually not the worst Christmas to be preggers- no Christmas or New Years parties to be sober and fat at. We are in tier 2 now so won’t even be gatherings with family (we are only bubbling with one person). I will miss mulled wine but ikea sells a decent fake.

mouldygrapes · 26/11/2020 17:27

Gosh I hope things are a bit more “normal”. Baby groups would be great especially as it’s our first.

Forgot to say welcome @AtLeastThreeDrinks. When in May are you due?

Serz88 · 26/11/2020 17:33

We are getting the bebecar v pack in black and rose gold. The pram is the one thing I've always been super excited about buying and am getting exactly what me and OH want

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 26/11/2020 17:57

Thanks @mouldygrapes! Due May 19th. And we were saying that earlier @bloomety! Had a mild panic last month about lockdown and pregnancy but actually having no social obligations and working from home has been a godsend. Fingers crossed it’s all over by May ☺️

Hello! I hope you're all having a great weekend :) when are you going to the 16 weeks routine appointment? Mine is 8th dec, still a bit to go... do you think they will check the heartbeat of the baby? I've seen online some websites that say yes and others no... it would be great to get to hear it

Serz88 · 29/11/2020 14:26

Had mine last week as I was originally dated a week earlier which I knew was wrong as I was having longer cycles.
No they didn't check the heartbeat, just a urine sample and blood pressure and then discussed my blood results from the first midwife appointment

mouldygrapes · 29/11/2020 14:54

My 16 week appt is by phone so not really expecting much!
Getting a bit fed up of still feeling sick - was so hoping it might get better around now (15+2)
Ah well!

lucymagoo · 29/11/2020 15:18

Mine is on the 7th, in person. Not been told what to expect though, other than blood test results.

bloomety · 29/11/2020 15:57

@Catisa I've got the angelcare doppler and I've been able to hear his heartbeat since he was 11 weeks, its great. My midwife knows and says its fine as long as I only use it up until I feel movements (you should rely on movements to know your baby is healthy). I heard baby's hb at my MW appointment last week and its the same sound so I know it's baby.

You can ask her if she can find the heartbeat at your appointment. She might not be able to do because we're early on though, and then you'd worry.

Catisa · 29/11/2020 16:02

Thank you for your comments Serz88 and Bloomety!! It's a shame they don't check by default, but I understand that if it is too early and cannot be found it will do more bad than good. Interesting about the doppler I might consider to buy one! Did you buy it second hand or new @Bloomety? How much was it if you don't mind me asking? Thank you!

bloomety · 29/11/2020 16:24

I got it new from ebay @Catisa. it was about £25. I had to buy the gel separately for about £3. I used one with my first pregnancy. It really helped my anxiety. Plus I can hear when he moves as the sound goes all funny! The same happened when my MW listened too, so I know thats him moving. Once I start to feel movements, I won't use it any more. It might be a few more weeks yet as I have an anterior placenta, which means my placenta is at the front, so it cushions the little movements.

Catisa · 29/11/2020 17:23

Ok! Thank you @Bloomety! Why is it that you cannot use it anymore after feeling movements? Is it because you should rely on the movements to acknowledge that everything is fine? Or is it bad?

bloomety · 29/11/2020 17:31

It's because once you feel movements, you should rely on the frequency to know baby is ok, not the heartbeat. They are frowned upon because people have lost their babies after feeling less movements, but then listening to the heartbeat so assuming everything must be fine, and not seeking help. It's fine before movements though, it gives that reassurance.

Catisa · 29/11/2020 18:56

I see, ok, thank you, understood!

Trousersareoverrated · 30/11/2020 16:11

My 16 week appointment is next week. I was assuming they would listen to the heartbeat otherwise what on earth is the point in it being in person in a pandemic? I'm pretty sure at all my antenatal appointments with DD they listened for the heartbeat but I can't remember very clearly.

I've got a proper bump now. If I'm wearing something tight you can see clearly I'm pregnant (not that I ever do!). Everyone I know well knows about the baby but I'm trying to keep it off social media until after the 20 week scan so I have to be careful what angles any photos are taken!

RustyCat · 01/12/2020 15:56

I have my 16week appointment on Friday. I'm hoping I can hear the babies heart beats but I'd they don't check it's not a big issue.

It does seem a bit pointless to go in person if they are just going to ramble off but I suppose they also need to give you test results, check your urine and do your blood pressure so that could be why?

mouldygrapes · 01/12/2020 18:35

Just panicked as I had a call from the midwives but turns out it was a mistake. Was panicking it was due to screening results but thankfully they’ve all come back low risk.
16 week appt is next Thursday so I’m sure she’ll just give me all the results again over the phone! I work in healthcare so can check my own BP and urine if I need to!

bloomety · 03/12/2020 08:52

I've been to Maternity Assessment yesterday. I had brown spotting. She had a look inside and said my cervix is closed so shes not worried. At my scan last week, she said there was a 1cm haematoma under my womb so she thinks it is that. It's so scary though. I keep listening to my wee boy on my doppler for reassurance. I'm thinking of booking yet another scan.

RustyCat · 03/12/2020 12:17

@bloomety oh how scary but I'm glad things are all good!

It can be scary if you have blood or brown discharge for no reason. Make sure you take care xx
