In honour of our third trimester I thought we should start a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Anyone else confused about bump measurements based a centimetre a week?

Midwife at 16 weeks measured it and said it was 17cm

No measurement done at 22 weeks

Midwife at 28 weeks measured and said it was 30cm

Midwife at 31 weeks measured and said on track.

I checked the growth chart when I got home and it's 31cm. So for being 31 weeks, I know it's 31cm and that's "on track" but I am only showing a 1cm change in 3 weeks.

Confused and worried!

AnxiousLady1 · 13/09/2020 17:31

@wannabebump My hospital doesn't even measure bump 🤷‍♀️ So I wouldn't worry too much. They clearly don't think it's important enough at mine. We just get a growth scan at 36 weeks.

wannabebump · 13/09/2020 18:53

@AnxiousLady1 we don't automatically get a scan at 36 weeks so the bump measurements is all I have to go on

AnxiousLady1 · 13/09/2020 19:15

@wannabebump I wouldn't worry too much though if you've been told you're on track. x

wannabebump · 13/09/2020 19:42

@AnxiousLady1 I get that, my point is that there is only a 1cm change in 3 weeks & that doesn't appear right

Wise0wl · 13/09/2020 20:25

@wannabebump If you’re worried you should definitely speak to a midwife, I did a fair amount of Googling as my bump was measured for the first time at 28wks (as I hadn’t seen a midwife since 12wks) and it looks like the measurements aren’t very reliable, though I know it’s no consolation if you’re worried!

Pinktruffle · 13/09/2020 20:25

Obviously none of us are medical experts so you aren't asking in the right place if you are that worried. However, its normal to go through spurts and slow downs in growth. I even lost weight over the past 2 weeks but my midwife said its no big deal so I'm not worrying - she is the expert and there are a whole host of reasons growth and weight can change, from the babies position, to a growth spurt for baby or water retention.

wannabebump · 13/09/2020 21:43

@Wise0wl @Pinktruffle I will at the next appointment. I only posted to see if anyone else had experienced the same so no need for the harsh "you're asking in the wrong place". It's hardly an emergency so not something that I'll be bothering them before the next appointment.

Pinktruffle · 13/09/2020 23:02

@wannabebump you were quite sharp in your response like you either expected one of us to have an answer or we were being difficult on purpose. So I apologise if it upset you but I was just reaponding to your tone.

Wise0wl · 13/09/2020 23:34

@wannabebump your original post said you’re worried, ergo you should ask if you feel that way, no matter how minor. You are really lucky to have had so many measurements though, even if they don’t quite add up! Hope you gets some clarity at your next appointment.

👍🏻

Is anyone else finding sleep is super uncomfortable now? DH has been going into the spare room as I just can't stay still in the night and can't help but breathe loudly. I'm trying to stay on my left side but I'm finding the right side much more comfortable and that's the side I can get to sleep on so concentrating on staying on my left side just stops me from sleeping more. It doesn't help that the baby is all down the right side which I think is why it's more comfortable for me that way. Then just as I get to sleep - bam - I either need the toilet or heartburn starts 😒

mOmShanti · 15/09/2020 19:55

@LozEliza this sounds just like me. I feel a bit sick constantly laying on my left side. I phoned my midwives for advice and they said don’t OVERLY stress about sleeping on the left side to the point of not sleeping. But that seemed contrary to all the instructions out there that seem to stress LEFT LEFT LEFT! So who knows.

I’m currently stressing for other reasons! DH has covid symptoms, we’ve had to get a crazy expensive private test because the gov.uk website is in total chaos and we have to self isolate until he gets results. I am self employed and can’t WFH so am losing my income ☹️ And I’m so worried about what happens if I catch it now at 32 weeks...

FudgeFlies · 15/09/2020 23:37

@LozEliza yes! And doesn’t help that I’m awake around 4am/5am everyday. If one more person says “it’s your body getting ready for the sleepless nights” I’m going to scream Grin

Wise0wl · 16/09/2020 20:23

Haha @FudgeFlies 100% this - though I have to say I thought pregnancy was all about tiredness and the sleepless nights have taken me by surprise. Why isn’t there a warning about getting loads of sleep before TTC?

mOmShanti · 16/09/2020 23:42

Has anyone had Covid? My husband has just tested positive and now I have to be tested tomorrow too. I’m obviously concerned to get it at this late stage. Just wondering if anyone else has been in the same boat?

littlegem84 · 19/09/2020 00:21

@mOmShanti how did the test go?

Pinktruffle · 19/09/2020 00:43

Sorry, no experience @mOmShanti. I hope your test comes back negative though. Let us know how you are getting on

CheshireKitCat · 19/09/2020 18:35

Hi all
Sorry not been on for ages so just been catching-up on the thread. Hope everyone's doing well and staying safe.

I've just found out the antenatal yoga class I'd signed up for has been cancelled due to low numbers but they might reschedule next year! Not much use when I'm 30 weeks pregnant now! So disappointed as it was the only antenatal activity I can find in our area. This is my first and will be my only pregnancy due to my age so feel like I'm missing out on a lot of the experience and feels quite isolating as I'm also working from home. Anyone else having similar issues accessing preg-related groups? Have you found any good online alternatives?
Txs

AnxiousLady1 · 20/09/2020 12:25

Hi @CheshireKitKat I've been doing pregnancy yoga via Zoom for a few weeks now. You've the benefit of doing it from your living room and just ensure your camera shows as much of your full mat as you can. That way the teacher can see and guide you where needed. If you look online you might find something local to you? But it doesn't have to be local of over Zoom I'd assume! 😁

All my NCT classes are via Zoom also. Not ideal as definitely miss out the face to face getting to know people in the group, but same things are covered and we do sub groups throughout the sessions as well. So there's an opportunity to talk to smaller groups separately.

FudgeFlies · 20/09/2020 14:55

I tested positive on Friday for covid. Sad I had been so cautious, probably not enough. I’ve been working from home since March, only seeing selected people and having no visitors and only going to the shops if needed. Partner is still at work, must have caught it from someone without symptoms. I noticed my smell and taste had gone and got a test and results came through today. Midwife has said as long as baby’s moving I need to just isolate and drink plenty of fluids. Very worried and upset x

MrsR87 · 20/09/2020 18:22

Oh no @FudgeFlies. Sending you lots of hugs and love. Make sure you take care of yourself. X

littlegem84 · 20/09/2020 19:15

@FudgeFlies how are you feeling? If you aren't feeling dreadful, chances are you have a mild case. My midwife said that although pregnant women are more likely to get it because we knackered immune systems, it isn't any more likely to hurt us or the babies. Hope you don't feel too rotten x

Wise0wl · 20/09/2020 23:19

So sorry @FudgeFlies - likewise I’ve heard that there is no known additional risk, just we’re more susceptible to catching it. Rest up and hope you feel better soon!

FudgeFlies · 20/09/2020 23:54

@MrsR87 @littlegem84 @Wise0wl

thank you all! I’m feeling fine apart from a loss of smell and taste! No temperature or cough. Baby’s been moving fine but now I’m being extra paranoid about movements. I’m grateful it’s a mild case, just hope it doesn’t develop into anything more, and know there aren’t any further risks to baby but just can’t help but worry. Keep safe ladies xx
