In honour of our third trimester I thought we should start a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mOmShanti · 09/09/2020 06:49

@Iona1985 I bought the spritz and the peri prep as there was/is a baby event discount on them in Boots. I’ve used the spritz already as I was feeling general discomfort from lots of discharge & wearing a pad all the time (and being in gym leggings cos of work!) It definitely worked! It’s very refreshing and happily looks like natural ingredients.

I’m not going to try the peri prep yet as apparently perinatal massage isn’t really beneficial until closer to the birth. But yes, so far I’m impressed with the spritz anyway.

FudgeFlies · 09/09/2020 07:40

Was anyone planning on having a baby shower? - that’s gone out the window with these new restrictions! I know safety and health first but was looking forward to seeing a few family friends that I hadn’t seen in months!

mOmShanti · 09/09/2020 09:11

@FudgeFlies my sis and besties had planned one for me and are really upset it’s now going to be impossible to go ahead as planned. However they are now going to shift it to a Virtual Baby Shower so that we can still have some kind of celebration and fun in this crazy time. If anyone has any virtual game ideas that would be brilliant to hear.

mOmShanti · 09/09/2020 09:15

I’d just heard yesterday that my hospital- St George’s- had updated their rules to allow fathers/partners to be in the postnatal ward 10am-6pm (they’ve been allowed into scans since mid August). But now with this new announcement on restrictions I’m so worried this will be denied again. I’m going to the hospital today for a scan again and will find out.

AnxiousLady1 · 09/09/2020 10:03

@mOmShanti Thanks for the update. Would be interested to know if this changes as I'm another one for St.Georges!

mOmShanti · 09/09/2020 10:08

@AnxiousLady1 Ah hospital buddies! That’s cool 😊 our due date is 7/11, what’s your due date?

AnxiousLady1 · 09/09/2020 10:28

@mOmShanti Looks like we are also due date buddies!! 7th Nov also Smile.

Parentinfo · 09/09/2020 15:58

So excited to find this thread as my due date is also in November 🙂
Anyone booked into Royal Surrey County Hospital (Guildford) or Kingston Hospital in this thread ?

HarrietM87 · 09/09/2020 16:40

Mine is 6 Nov! I’m not having a baby shower - no one cares about second babies 😂. Didn’t have one first time round because superstitiously I don’t like the idea of celebrating before the baby is here safe and sound. I’d rather see people after the baby is born.

I had friends who had a full on gift list for their baby shower (like a wedding list) which seemed a bit greedy to me!

wannabebump · 09/09/2020 18:48

@FudgeFlies no baby shower here but only because I'm not a fan of being centre of attention plus Covid stuff really. I've been to a few previously and there's been a gift list handed out beforehand and ultimately that's what put me off. If I could have had a baby shower that was really just a lunch out with some of the girls with no banners, balloons, games etc that would have been more my think.

As I've been off work since March, there's been so much we've missed on pregnancy wise when you think about (FTM & only doing it once) x

FudgeFlies · 09/09/2020 21:08

Yeah we might have a “welcome to the world” party instead once all of this is over!

MillieFTM · 10/09/2020 11:55

Has everyone decided on names and middle names yet?
I've got a girl's name I've always loved but found out that it was #1 in our area last year which has really made me doubt the choice! I have a really unusual name where I've only met 1 other person called the same, so the idea of it being really popular makes me nervous.
Feeling like I'm running out of time to choose! Such a big decision 😬

wannabebump · 10/09/2020 12:19

@MillieFTM we have a shortlist of names, will probably make a finally decision once baby has arrived, but middle and surname are decided x

MoreGinPlease2020 · 10/09/2020 15:01

@MillieFTM We might have picked a name (first and middle) but want to think on it for a bit before we officially decide. We may well end up changing it when she's born if it doesn't suit her. We've gone for a name that's really uncommon as we didn't want anything too popular. I love it but we're keeping it very much to ourselves despite curious family members!

Addler · 10/09/2020 15:10

We've possibly got a girl name lined up, surprisingly it wasn't one that was high up on our list but when we put it with the (family) middle name we really liked it. We still like it now so unless something else comes along that might be it.

If it's a boy that's another story! There's nothing we both love so far, and I really think it's a boy so a bit worried the poor thing won't have a name!

HarrietM87 · 10/09/2020 15:34

I’ve struggled so much with the name. I loved my son’s name so much and when I was pregnant with him it was literally the only thing it could have been. We didn’t even know he would be a boy so lucky he was! I feel bad that I don’t have so much love for any girl names. Also the ones I like have difficult spellings (Irish) so I don’t want to make her life difficult. Might have to wait and see when she’s here.

mOmShanti · 11/09/2020 08:30

Anyone else feel sick when lying on their left side? I’m trying to stick at it because of all the advice, but I actually don’t feel too good doing it.

We’ve finally got our boys/girls name decided and it was a real tough task. OH knows too many people cos of his work and also has a massive family (40+ First cousins!), so every name I suggested was vetoed because “I know someone called X”!
Also needed to be a religious name but we didn’t want anything so obviously religious that it pigeonholes them... so much to consider 🤣

wannabebump · 12/09/2020 08:21

@mOmShanti your right side would be fine if it makes you feel better.

I know what you mean about names, there's so much to think about! We've welcomed suggestions from family and friends which we then scrutinise lol. It's amazing the suggestions you get that go with your surname! Also amazing the suggestions you get that make you think hell no 😂

MrsR87 · 12/09/2020 09:12

@mOmShanti I have to alternate between my left and right side in the night. I can’t stay in one position all night! I find the right side much more comfortable.

MillieFTM · 12/09/2020 11:33

Agreed I'm constantly (or so it feels like) switching between left and right side at night. My hips can't handle much more than 2 hours on one side. Now sleeping on top of a double duvet folded in half and that's really help with the ache!

mOmShanti · 13/09/2020 11:15

@wannabebump Yes the ‘Hell No’ names make me crack up! We avoided asking family for that reason, or we would have probably offended too many people 🤣

wannabebump · 13/09/2020 11:29

@mOmShanti some of the "hell no" names have given us a good giggle! We welcomed suggested but no one knows what ones have made it the shortlist (including our own suggestions). No one will know the final choice til baby arrives, and then their opinion doesn't matter!x

Pinktruffle · 13/09/2020 12:49

I think I have a girls name narrowed down to two, no idea for a boy though. Think I will wait and see what suits the baby before we decide for sure.

There is a traditional way of naming the baby in my culture which I had my heart set on doing but my mum keeps trying to put me off so I feel a bit torn now, I'm not really sure what to do.

eleanorsos · 13/09/2020 14:54

Thread 9!! Shock I'm so behind!

I think we've finally settled on the name but keeping it to ourselves until she's born - I'd hate for someone to put us off it by making a face when we tell them....!

@Pinktruffle Don't let anyone put you off if you know what you want! It's your baby and I'm sure nobody will think twice once she's born Smile

FilthyforFirth · 13/09/2020 15:14

We have just this week confirmed our boys name. It has been very trying to decide! There was a name we both really liked but a bit out there and not brave enough to use it. Middle names were already decided so he is all set now.

Also struggling massively with sleep. I am huge and look full term rather than 29.5 weeks so really uncomfortable. I switch between the two side constantly, which always wakes me up as it is such an ordeal...
