In honour of our third trimester I thought we should start a new thread!

@mOmShanti Me! I keep forgetting to ask my midwife what it is.

MillieFTM · 05/09/2020 21:11

Yes totally with you on the rib feeling, tingly/buzzy/slightly burning feeling, especially when I lye down to sleep. Also forgot to ask midwife! I thought it might be after I've eaten dinner and it's my stomach pushing up into my rib cage?

Fredsgirl19 · 05/09/2020 22:15

Tingly buzzy feeling is your intestines! They ha e been pushed so far up that's where they are now!!

mOmShanti · 06/09/2020 08:53

@Fredsgirl19 oh my goodness 😮 wow! Thanks for the explanation 😉

MoreGinPlease2020 · 06/09/2020 10:42

@Fredsgirl19 Thank you! Of all the things I thought it could be, intestines was not one of them, so that's really interesting.

Has anyone started thinking about getting a hospital bag prepped yet?x

AnxiousLady1 · 06/09/2020 22:29

@wannabebump My pregnancy apps keep telling me to start this now, but I feel like it's too early still 🙈 I have picked up one or two things and set them aside thinking "that's for my hospital bag". Like a lip balm and front opening nightie. Will mayve start putting things into a bag in the next couple of weeks with a view to finalising once I'm on maternity leave at 36 weeks.

MrsR87 · 06/09/2020 23:09

@wannabebump

I’ve got all the stuff...just not the bag to put it in 😂

wannabebump · 07/09/2020 08:17

@AnxiousLady1 same! I've got a list and will go it this month with the aim of having it ready by the end of September - I feel it's too early just now too!

@MrsR87 you're organised! X

HarrietM87 · 07/09/2020 09:25

I’ve been thinking about my hospital bag but not doing it until 36/37 weeks. The last weeks dragged for me last time so I’d like something to do in them this time round. And my first baby didn’t show up til 42 weeks so think I’ll have time!

littlegem84 · 07/09/2020 09:40

I sorted my hospital bag yesterday (after sort of packing it several times). I've decided to do a streamlined version for one night and have a backup in the car in case I need to stay a few days.

MeandSpud · 07/09/2020 10:03

I'd say it's never too early to pack a hospital bag. I shopped for all of the bits I needed at about 28 weeks and figured I may as well pack it the next day, as I had it all - I had no idea it would happen at the time, but I've been in hospital 3 times since then and have been so grateful to have almost everything I could possibly need to hand every time. (Also with each stay I've added more bits - I didn't have shower gel or a towel the first time, and the second time I added a puzzle book, colouring book and pens - not hospital bag essentials, but come in very handy if you're stuck in hospital for a few days! Also, a charging pack for my phone and headphones - Netflix has been a godsend!)

Tiniestsky · 07/09/2020 18:11

Hey ladies, I'm starting to think about getting to the hospital on the big day as I am the only driver in the house. I spoke to someone at the hospital who made it clear that an ambulance won't come out unless necessary and I really don't think taxi firms are reliable enough in our area to not have a backup plan plus I've read and heard that they can and often do refuse to take you if in labour! and my family is an hour n half away from me.
So what do I do? Really stressing about it 🤦🏻‍♀️

LozEliza · 07/09/2020 18:45

I think I just lost my mucus plug (or some of) in the bath (sorry tmi) it was thick gelatinous yellow mucus. Nothing like I've ever experienced discharge wise. I'm only 31 weeks so gave the midwife a call who just told me to sit tight and keep an eye out for any leaking. After googling I understand losing the plug is not the same as a 'bloody show' which means labour is imminent. But it still seems to imply it's around the corner 😳 I really hope this isn't the case.

littlegem84 · 07/09/2020 19:17

@LozEliza try not to worry too much, I'm sure I read it can regenerate?

HarrietM87 · 07/09/2020 19:53

@Tiniestsky I got a taxi in labour with my first baby no problem. We don’t own a car! Can you call round a few local cab firms and ask whether they would take you in labour? I did this and every one I tried said they had no issue with it. In the end I got an Uber as it could get to me quickest. If you have a few lined up in advance you’ll be able to get one on the day.

Definitely don’t waste time trying to get an ambulance - they won’t come for you unless the baby is basically born and you’ll be wasting valuable taxi booking time!

Tiniestsky · 07/09/2020 20:02

@HarrietM87 thanks :) I'm sure I'm building this up in my head to be worse than it will be, I just hate relying on other people or driving with other people lol

HarrietM87 · 07/09/2020 20:29

Yeah because it was never even an option for me to drive or be driven I never felt stressed about it, but can imagine depending on where you live it could be worth planning in advance. On plus side you don’t have to worry about parking at the hospital!

Iona1985 · 07/09/2020 22:42

Just a tip for anyone who likes a freebie! If you add ‘parenting club’ to your boots advantage card online and then look in ‘services’ it shows offers just for you. Currently giving away free 60 pack of breast pads, mama bottles and soothers. Then just load to card and pick up in store!

Jellycat2020 · 08/09/2020 08:48

@LozEliza ironically, the same thing happened to me yesterday! Went for a wee, found a 'snot ball' in my pants, didn't think much of it but then was worrying all night I was going to go into labour 🤦🏻‍♀️
Just phoned the midwife who was very reassuring and just said not to worry, it may or may not have been a bit of plug. Could have been normal discharge or a bit of thrush (I was a bit itchy) and even it it was a bit of plug, there's nothing they can do (I'm 30 + 3 weeks). Just carry on as normal and monitor for blood or more discharge or pains. Baby is moving fine and I have a routine appointment on Thursday anyway so they'll check me then. Meant to be going away on Saturday for a few days in Wales - might take my hospital bag with me!! 😮

FudgeFlies · 08/09/2020 14:58

@Iona1985 I couldn’t find the offer? Where can I find services? X

Iona1985 · 08/09/2020 15:23

@FudgeFlies if you click on your advantage card points, top right, once you’ve logged in, it’ll take you to a screen that shows ‘my offers’ it’s in there

A friend has just made this known to me. It has over 3000 five star reviews from women post birth to soothe the sore area and quicken recovery time - anyone used? myexpertmidwife.ie/products/spritz-for-bits

CoBell · 08/09/2020 19:35

Hi @Iona1985, I have just bought that Spritz Your Bits stuff and the Peri Prep Your Bits too after looking at reviews on the internet,. Obviously not used either yet but I'm hoping they will be good products to have!

HarrietM87 · 08/09/2020 20:05

A few people have recommended Spritz for bits to me - might try it!

I had a second degree tear after my son and didn’t actually use anything on it, though I did keep a jug near the loo and pour warm water over it the first few times I did a wee - helps with the stinging! For anyone worried, it healed really well and quickly - was fine by the time I had my 6 week check.
