Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Copying our list over so we can keep up. If you would like to join please copy and paste the list, adding your own details in date order.

Really hope I’m doing this right! 🙈

Do we need a full bladder for the anomaly scan? I have no clue anymore lol. Xx

Frazzlerock · 09/07/2020 23:51

Thank you @footprintsintheslow 😊

@Sheera1 I don't think so. At least not full the bursting which I was last time and I had to go and wee and come back because my bladder was in the way. By that time my bladder was empty and they got a great view (17 weeks)

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 10/07/2020 06:49

I agree with @Frazzlerock @Sheera1 doesn't need to be full full. On Tuesday I had a cup of water 45 minutes beforehand (after having just been to the loo) and there didn't seem a problem. I think my bladder can only hold a tiny amount now!! 😳🙄 Looking forward to both your pics! ❤️💙💛

@footprintsintheslow your blanket is gorgeous - I love the idea of trying different stitches and winging it!

PregnantPorcupine · 10/07/2020 07:43

Good luck today @Sheera1 and @Frazzlerock!

(And is there anyone else with a scan today?! I'm losing track..)

PregnantPorcupine · 10/07/2020 07:44

And no, bladder doesn't have to be full Smile

footprintsintheslow · 10/07/2020 07:59

I think my letter says drink a pint and a half.

Chickoletta · 10/07/2020 08:33

Good morning ladies, after a few weeks of loitering on your wonderful thread, it looks like I can officially join you.

I am 40 and got my BFP this morning. I have a DS who will be 10 in a couple of weeks and a DD who is 7. I had a MMC of twins in April.

This was our last cycle of trying so had totally prepared myself that I would be giving up and moving on today but it seems that my body has other ideas. My period is not due until Tuesday so I think this is quite a good line for 10dpo.

Shit! This is real isn’t it? Due date end of March I guess...!

Chickoletta · 10/07/2020 08:33

Here is my line...

footprintsintheslow · 10/07/2020 08:34

Hooray @Chickoletta welcome along. End of March is a lovely time to have a baby.

Frazzlerock · 10/07/2020 08:42

Thanks @PregnantPorcupine Smile

Hi @Chickoletta welcome to the group. So sorry for your MMC (I've had several so am very familiar with the hopelessness and despair) I so hope this one is a sticky bean for you [fingers crossed]

Dia12 · 10/07/2020 08:54

Good luck with scans @Frazzlerock and @Sheera1 - looking forward to hearing of your updates.

Welcome to the group, looks like a really good line for 10dpo, fingers crossed for you @Chickoletta

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 10/07/2020 09:46

Welcome and congratulations @Chickoletta!
@Frazzlerock @Sheera1
Had my scan and all good - NHS happy. Sonographer was nice enough but one that turned the screen away and didn't explain anything as they did the scan - I find that makes me quite nervous!! Here's a pic!

Thread 2 for us classed as more mature pregnant ladies
Frazzlerock · 10/07/2020 09:51

Awww @onlyreadingneverposting8 so cute and having a little neck stretch! I'm so thrilled for you Grin Yes they shouldn't turn the screen away, no wonder you were nervous!
I'm going to ask if I can Facetime DP as he's gutted he can't be at this one Sad It's so unfair that partners can't be there at such an important time.

Sheera1 · 10/07/2020 09:56

Wow that is a brilliant scan pic @onlyreadingneverposting8! Look at the profile. Beautiful. Nervous over here. Doesn't help I had a big fight with DP last night too. 😞 Actually raging with him. He was on furlough for 3 months and just back these two weeks. I feel he used me as an excuse not to go back as although outdoors they need to travel in a van together which is not social distancing and they are only wearing masks. We had lots of conversations about how unhappy I was with the arrangement. Anyway, he had to go back in the end and then day 2 he admitted he wasn't wearing his mask in the van. Cue argument 1. It came up again yesterday and he let slip he srill5is not wearing a mask. Cue big argument. He came out with the crap about it being uncomfortable and went all defensive. I am so so pissed at him. The other guy in the van isn't bothering his arse either and his wife works in a care home FFS. So he sat at home on reduced pay, which I end up covering btw, on the pretence that it was protecting me and the second he is back he doesn't care about it. I am actually raging. Not spoken since.

Welcome and congrats @Chickoletta. Xx

Frazzlerock · 10/07/2020 10:07

Oh @Sheera1 sounds like he knows he's in the wrong, hence the defensiveness. I'd be pissed off too Angry Why would he take the risk?
I know so many people who think the rules don't apply to them. It's like this whole thing is all over, when actually it really isn't!
I just want to scream at everyone, WHY!!???
Sorry he's being a jerk Sad

Dia12 · 10/07/2020 10:23

Oh lovely scan pic and so clear!!! How amazing you can see little button nose 💕 congrats @onlyreadingneverposting8. Is this your 20w anomaly scan?

You'll be just fine @Sheera1 and once you see the little one the rage will melt away 🤞🏼! I can see your point though, but men I think are just wired completely differently. I don't know why they just can do the simple things (like wear a mask) to keep the peace. My DH always sucks up afterwards with the line "I never do anything maliciously" - oh well that's all ok then! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sheera1 · 10/07/2020 10:43

Thanks guys. I am just annoyed. It also is making me think of all the things he does or rather doesn't do and when he does do something he acts like he has done me a big favour when he is just pulling his weight. We haven't spoken and he is sitting reading with his hoodie up ignoring me. 😡 He took the day off for the scan but isn't even going to drive me as it would be boring waiting in the car. What did he even take one of his precious hols that could have been used later? He did the usual getting up and making himself breakfast and not asking me or ds. Honestly I don't k ow why I think this baby might somehow inject some responsibility and suddenly make him stop being so selfish. I am in misery today tbh. I can just see now that I will end up doing everything for this baby and he will sit and look after himself. Sorry. Can you tell I am in a total grumpy just now. I do love him but there are limits and why should I constantly need to kick him up the arse to be a functioning family member.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 10/07/2020 10:43

@Dia12 - yes - anomaly scan! Just got to grow her and get her out now!!

@Frazzlerock - I was still a bag of nerves!!

@Sheera1 sorry to hear of the arguments! I was divorcing my husband last week!! Tension is high!!

Here is a pic of the blanket coming along and the matching hat!

Frazzlerock · 10/07/2020 10:51

@Sheera1 relationships are hard and test us to the max. Sometimes what they do makes no sense (and vice versa) and it makes you want to tear your hair out. But you know you love eachother and this will pass. Hopefully he will see the error of his ways and apologise, but don't hold your breath!

Love the blanket and hat @onlyreadingneverposting8 what stitch are you using for the blanket?
I did some blanket yesterday, well two stripes and now I'm back on the animals again.I swear I'll never finish the blanket! I might finish it early as it's massive already and I still have a long way to go. DS2 has asked for a rhino so I'm making the one in Edwards Menagerie today.

Sheera1 · 10/07/2020 10:57

Thanks @Frazzlerock. Yes I am also pretty emotional just now which doesn't help. Will bite my tounge for now.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 they are lovely. I wish I had the patience to try something like that. I am so not arty or crafty. I have a hilarious cat I "knitted" in Primary school and it is just so bad it has become a wee heirloom. The stiches are so wide you can see the stuffing and I ran out of wool so the ears are a different colour. Mannitol has personality though! 😂

Sheera1 · 10/07/2020 10:57

*man it has personality

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 10/07/2020 11:08

@Sheera1 the cat sounds brilliant! I think we need a picture!!

@Frazzlerock the blanket is just alternating double crochet (American double), single crochet. It's very simple but looks quite effective!

fool11 · 10/07/2020 11:12

can't remember who is having a scan today but hope all goes well for all of you!
lovely picture @onlyreadingneverposting8..did you find out if it's a boy or a girl and going for a surprise?

footprintsintheslow · 10/07/2020 11:45

@Sheera1 I'd be tamping too to be honest. He's too old to be pushed around by peer pressure!

@onlyreadingneverposting8 lovely stretchy pose there in the photo.

Sheera1 · 10/07/2020 11:57

DP has been doing shop g for my parents who are basically shielding. Dad has had a chest infection and was now told to get a covid test as feels fluish and now my mum has a cough and sore throat. Honestly if he has passed on bugs due to him being a negligent areshole, I might call off the wedding at this rate!
Will try and find the cat for a pic. It is hilarious!
