Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Copying our list over so we can keep up. If you would like to join please copy and paste the list, adding your own details in date order.

Really hope I’m doing this right! 🙈

Below comment was about mask wearing.
Christ the pregnancy brain is bad !

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 12/07/2020 06:00

Anyone else asking really early? Once it gets to 4:30am ish if I wake up I just can't not sleep!! Then I end up more nauseous in the evening as my body is tired but I also have trouble getting off to sleep 😴 😲. Tell me I'm not the only one!!

Realladymarmalade · 12/07/2020 07:33

Yep though today ive had lie in . Many mornings 530. Today baby is less busy , which helps. I had an active day yesterday which might help us both sleep. I dunno !

Also up early with panic stricken ' how am I going to manage three' and 'am I mad ' thoughts with a dash of covid doom 🤣.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 12/07/2020 07:45

@Realladymarmalade glad it's not just me!! My baby isn't even big enough to actually disturb me yet but the 3.5yr old does! He climbed in at about 3am and then I had a nightmare and could sleep from 4:30am. I love some of my pregnancy dream but not the nightmares or weird ones!!

Sheera1 · 12/07/2020 10:44

Oooh with you on the weird pregnancy dreams. I had one the other night and for some reason my mum and sister had been looking after it since birth for weeks. I went in to try and breast feed it and it had these big teeth and spinach all over them. Was unsettling!

@Realladymarmalade

I am up in the night and sometimes for a couple of hours but back to sleep and then have to drag myself up for work.

@realladymarmalade yes it is his first. He is completely in denial. I k ow what you mean about trying not to be condescending.

Oh I hate it when I write a big message and lose it. It also happens that then I try and do the @ it doesn't write and so I carry on than then I press return and suddenly it appears and wipes what I wrote!!

We had our private scan today and found out we are having a baby girl! It was so lovely for my partner to see her for the first time (I'm 22 weeks now). We are both emotional wrecks and so in love with her already 💕

Aww congratulations! 😊 @NaomiB79

footprintsintheslow · 13/07/2020 02:53

@NaomiB79 lovely scan picture. Look at all those tiny ribs!

I've woken up for a wee and laid awake trying to sleep for two hours now. I've finally given in and got on my phone to pass the time.

MaryShelley1818 · 13/07/2020 07:27

Hey everyone, can I join?
I have the delightful double whammy of not only being old but being overweight too!
I have one DS age 2.5yrs and am currently 42 and due February 9th with baby number 2 - took 18mths of ttc!

Samk79 · 13/07/2020 09:28

Morning ladies, hope we are all doing okay? Does anyone else have or going to have a big age gap?
My two older children will be 13 and 17 when baby arrives in sept. This will be my husbands first baby and I keep panicking about starting all over again!

Frazzlerock · 13/07/2020 09:34

Morning all.

How was everyone's weekend?

Lovely scan pic NaomiB79! And yay for a baby girl! I have no idea what its like to have a baby girl (boy factory over here) but I'm sure it is lovely!

@footprintsintheslow and @onlyreadingneverposting8 I went through a phase of waking mega early and not going back to sleep. , then I was a zombie the rest of the day. Seems to have stopped for the time being.

@Sheera1 I have googled similar scan pics and it makes me even more certain this one is a boy as I deffo saw the willy shown in the boy pic. I honestly don't think I can make girls - not that it matters to me as all I want is an alive and healthy one, whatever he or she is! I guess time will tell for both of us!
Your little boy sounds adorable, he really is going to love being a big bro isn't he Grin

@AliasGrape The app is notorious for making pots disappear before you've had a chance to post it. Hugely frustrating! I tend to stick with the web version unless I want to upload a picture - that is easier on the app.

Hi @MaryShelley1818 and congratulations!

My news is we now have a lovely Snuzpod sitting in the living room - I picked it up on Sat and sobbed all the way home. I still can't believe we are finally getting to put our baby in there. it seems so surreal. I never thought we'd ever get to this point. It completely blows my mind!

Other news is that DP actually felt baby move on Sat night! He was absolutely thrilled and kept grinning Grin. I think he feels like its more real now.

Other news is I've put a whole stone on now Shock. I don't really feel much bigger everywhere else and just carrying big up front (another reason this one has to be a boy) but my bump can't weigh a whole stone FFS so I must have got bigger in other places. Oh well! I'd best start moving my fat ass some more Grin

Frazzlerock · 13/07/2020 09:36

@Samk79 my two are 11 and 15 and this one is also my DP's first. I get the odd worry about starting all over again but I've wanted this for so long now that I just say to myself "you wanted this!" haha. My only worry is the childcare costs and not being able to see our baby all day everyday once he/she turns 1 year Sad

Dia12 · 13/07/2020 10:24

Morning! Hope you're all well. I'm just trying to catch up with the thread after a weekend recovering from my tooth extraction. Still a bit sore but just so glad it's over with and I can get back to worrying about my pregnancy!!!

Hi @Countingblessings, yes I did go for the NIPT (Lucina) test and I was told results should be through end of this week. A nervous wait until then 🤞🏼

Congrats on your scan @Sheera1 - how exciting for you all 💕 and pleased to hear your folks were negative for Covid. I was just saying the other day how this pandemic is making us all paranoid and fearful - perhaps for a very long time to come.

Congrats @NaomiB79 lovely scan pic. It's such a relief to get past the 20w scan point.

Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy @MaryShelley1818.

It must be feeling all very real now @Frazzlerock. I can't wait to get to the point of feeling the baby kick and move. 1 stone weight gain is really good going, I'm almost 1 stone heavier and 12w 🤦🏻‍♀️ I ate to kill the nausea. Not smart!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 13/07/2020 10:38

@Dia12 🤞🏼for speedy results

@Dia12 & @Frazzlerock I've put on well over 1.5 stones! I'm hoping it's slowed down a bit now....I'm still constantly nauseous- I'm going to mention it on Wednesday (have a consultant app) but I don't think they'll be bothered...I'm not in danger of either dehydration or malnutrition!! Here a bump pic 20+6

Samk79 · 13/07/2020 10:39

@Frazzlerock it is a daunting thought but like you it's something I have wanted for a long time. We would have done it a few years ago if we could but we were renting a house and didn't have the room. We finally managed to buy a house 18 months ago. We are currently in the process of moving everything round to make room for the baby!

I'm also worried about the cost of childcare. I've started to try and find a childminder but they all say they don't know what their availability is for next year yet x

Frazzlerock · 13/07/2020 10:46

Your bump is lovely and high up @onlyreadingneverposting8
Mine seems a lot lower down?
20+4

Dia12 · 13/07/2020 10:48

Aww that's a proper little baby bump @onlyreadingneverposting8 !!!

I'm too embarrassed to show mine as it definitely isn't baby. Just fat!!!

Frazzlerock · 13/07/2020 10:49

@Samk79 we have several local CMs. Our favourite is a friend of ours. Her fee is £6 per hour which we worked out for 10 hours a day will be £1300 per month 🤢 I literally have no idea where that's going to come from. I'm really hoping I can WFH once or twice a week to bring that cost down 🤞

Frazzlerock · 13/07/2020 10:56

@onlyreadingneverposting8 also sorry to say, my colleague is still properly throwing up and she is something like 30 weeks now.
I feel sick now and again which I didn't have before. I think it is where the stomach is being squashed, maybe you've moved on from morning sickness to stomach squashing sickness?

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 13/07/2020 10:59

@Frazzlerock yours is a proper baby bump! Maybe mine looks higher because I'm really short bodied...well just short really! 🤣

Samk79 · 13/07/2020 11:01

@Frazzlerock wow that's a huge amount of money! Do you work full time? The prices here are about 4 pounds an hour. I work 4 days and immune husband works from home. We did debate him having the baby a day a week but just not sure that will work x

Frazzlerock · 13/07/2020 11:10

Yeah we both work FT @Samk79 and both commute into London from Kent so we need a lot of hours per day. I'm hoping that somehow we will get by and 'live to our means' or whatever the saying is. But we don't go nuts as it is with what we earn. It really is a big worry that I keep pushing to the back of my mind.

Samk79 · 13/07/2020 11:17

@Frazzlerock I can imagine it's a huge worry! I'm lucky as we live in Somerset and I literally work 10 mins drive from where we live. I currently work two longer and two shorter days so a childminder would be better as you pay per hour. I did use nursery with my older two but they are more expensive! I would just like to have got it all arranged but haven't managed to find anyone so far! X

Frazzlerock · 13/07/2020 11:26

Its a bit of luck I've grasped crochet. I will have to make all our clothes from now on Wink
