Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Copying our list over so we can keep up. If you would like to join please copy and paste the list, adding your own details in date order.

Really hope I’m doing this right! 🙈

@AliasGrape what a beautiful picture. Iris is just beautiful ❤

Realladymarmalade · 31/08/2020 14:19

Congratulations duffered ! But my gosh what a drama. How are you both today ?

aliasgrape she is perfect! Very alert.

Now that I've told all family and friends, did the social media thing today- I am happy to share a photo of freshly delivered Zachary. Well I'm very proud :)

I am anxious about over sharing on mumsnet generally, but would be happier do so one closed group on FB or WhatsApp. But I'm just so proud of him. All of mine are dark and dark eyed as are we so he fits in well . ❤.

Any of the nee mums Formula Feeding? Tips for dealing with milk coming in/engorgement ? Or just sympathy.. it's just cabbage leaves and ibuprofen here and the hope that the milk will recede. Midwife has no other advice but its crap..can't even cuddle my kids and despite it all there is an undeniable sadness when you just have to let go of that final bond ?

On the plus side, at least I am sleeping better.

Congrats again duffered. We ladies are awesome what we do with and to our bodies. Dp is fussing over me and I've never experienced this with my ex who returned to work the next day.( DP in constant admiration of woman kind at the moment)

DufferedUp · 31/08/2020 14:56

Here's my munchkin. Last night was horrendous. She'd slept all day and so was awake all night, screaming if I put her down. Finally got a couple of hours sleep this morning and she's been asleep all day again! Hopefully home tomorrow.

Awwww such beautiful babies! 🧡🧡

I'd be happy to have a Whatsapp group and/or FB group.
Maybe start with a private FB group as I don't know how we'd set up a Whatsapp group with sharing phone numbers on here.

Who else would be up for it? I'm happy to get it started now that this group is a bit more established 😊

@Realladymarmalade I can't help as I barely had any milk to begin with when I had the DS's so when we gave up and switched to formula I didn't have engorging or leaking or anything. Hopefully someone else can help.

Realladymarmalade · 31/08/2020 15:20

Frazzle that's the thing. If planned to wean after 2 weeks when I wouldn't have this issue. Ah well.

duffered that's horrendous. Me and Z spent our first night feeding and him producing 5 poo nappies. It has got better though. How are you feeling physically?

Frazzled If you could that would be fab. I still have the best support from 50 MN mums who had their babies in March 14. We've used a private FB group and it's been fab and an amazing support . I dont know how to set the group up though as an admin. Maybe start with friend requests then add ? We would need to think of a catchy name🤣

sheera delayed reaction here - that is shocking re the car..do not blame you for being really upset ! Weve saved a few £££ for mat leave but three is little wriggle room for unexpected Bill's. Any recourse or do you have to foot the bill

Frazzlerock · 31/08/2020 15:49

@Realladymarmalade I could set it up then for anyone who wants in I can share the link via a MN PM?

What should we be called?
The Mummyatrics? (Spin on geriatric mums in case that wasn't obvious 😁)
Or something else?

DufferedUp · 31/08/2020 16:24

Happy to join a FB group but I have a fake FB account with a man's name! Only way to stop the in-laws friend requesting me! Happy to disclose real identity once set up though.

AliasGrape · 31/08/2020 16:41

Gorgeous @Realladymarmalade and @DufferedUp - thank you for the pictures such beautiful babies!

Duffered I’m sorry you had such a bad night hope tonight is better.

Marmalade I can’t help as I never had any milk it didn’t come in at all so no engorgement etc. My friend swore by the Savoy cabbage leaves.

@Frazzlerock I’d be up for a private group definitely

3 beautiful baby pictures!! Makes me want these last 12 weeks to be over and a baby here for me! Are you feeling the same @Frazzlerock @Sheera1 ?

I'm up for a fb group 😄

@Realladymarmalade if you have trouble I think the doctor can prescribe something to dry your milk up. And I know that we aren't meant to take decongestant medicine (Sudafed type stuff) when breastfeeding due to its affect on milk production so maybe that would help?

Frazzlerock · 31/08/2020 16:56

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I'm completely on the fence. I desperately want to get to the end of these 12 weeks and finally meet our baby but at the same time I feel really sad that this is my final pregnancy and I just love having my bump! 😁

Okay, so I've set the group up. It's private and hidden and I can't work out how to share it - I expect because it's private and hidden!
So, did you all want to PM me on MN with your FB name and maybe a brief description of your profile pic so I can find you easily and add you? I'm hoping I can add 'non friends'

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/08/2020 17:44

@Frazzlerock just sent you a pm (I hope!)

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/08/2020 17:46

@Frazzlerock get what you mean about the last pregnancy but I feel so blinking awful most of the time still I definitely want the baby here now! Mind we have nothing bought for her yet & no name! 😬

Frazzlerock · 31/08/2020 17:47

I'm having trouble finding people so have temporarily 'unhidden' the group and will share the link in a PM
Once we've got everyone, I'll hide it again. It's still private though 😊

Frazzlerock · 31/08/2020 17:50

Just responded to you @AliasGrape and @onlyreadingneverposting8

NaomiB79 · 31/08/2020 18:22

How do you pm on Mumsnet?

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/08/2020 18:30

@Frazzlerock hopefully I have requested to join the group! 🤞🏼

Frazzlerock · 31/08/2020 18:31

@NaomiB79 you need to use the web version of MN. I don't think you can PM using the app (happy to be corrected!)

I'll send you a PM and you should get an email notification with a link that will direct you to your inbox.

Or go to a browser on your phone/computer and top right you should get a drop down menu and you can access your inbox that way.

DufferedUp · 31/08/2020 20:31

OMG. My catheter was taken out at lunch time. Yesterday I had countless people elbow deep in my vagina scooping out blood clots following a forceps delivery and now I find I have zero bladder control. At all. Please tell me this is temporary. I'm having to get DH to drop off more clothes as I literally peed through everything I have with me. I'm so mortified. I don't even feel it happening.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/08/2020 20:39

I would think it's only temporary @DufferedUp have you mentioned it to the midwives/doctor? Also for now I'd just get some pull-up tena disposable pants. I used them after birth last time and with a medically managed mc. They're really ok to wear and should at least save you wetting your clothes.

DufferedUp · 31/08/2020 21:02

I've told all the midwives! Said a catheter could give me a break but given that's likely part of the cause I'm not keen. Going to see how it goes overnight. Can't even feel my pelvic floor when I squeeze it so hopefully it is just the trauma of yesterday. Consoled myself with chocolate, which I went off in pregnancy and hadn't eaten since January.

Sheera1 · 31/08/2020 21:03

Aww loving the pictures of the newborns.

I needed up in triage last night. It was a day with weird baby movements so already a little on edge. Went to the loo before bed and sorry if TMI but when I stood up there was a fair but of blood in the loo. I couldn't find where it had come from. Called triage and with the weird movements they asked me in. Was monitored for 3p mins and heartbeat was fine. Did an examination to check bleeding was not from cervix and checked urine. BP was through the roof at 161/98 so ended up being monitored and BO taken every ten mins. Eventually came back down to a normal range. I think it must have been a wee anal tear as on iron and a bit constipated but hadn't really been struggling or any indication or pain. It is a bit stingy today so much have been that. Got back home just after 1am. Drama drama me again.

@Frazzlerock and @@onlyreadingneverposting8 yes a weird one. Pregnancy is going well for now and enjoying this lull before the craziness. Would like to hit pause as think we are not prepared for the sleepless nights at all. However, also will be anxious until he/she is here safely so would like to fast forward.

Frazzle going to see the garage tomorrow and talk about the price and what the issue was as it is all bizarre but will end of having to pay it I think. Sob.

Up for the fbook group but on my phone on mumsnet. It is called the mmummyatrics? Will take a look. X

Frazzlerock · 31/08/2020 21:24

Oh @DufferedUp that sounds traumatic! As the others have said. I'm sure it's just temporary.

@Sheera1 my god I'd have been panicking big time! I'm so pleased all it well, what a fright!

Yes it's The Mummyatrics.
I think you might have asked to join already and have accepted. I hope it you anyway or someone from this group 😬

Sheera1 · 31/08/2020 21:39

Yes got the right group and yes me ❤. Forgot for a sexond5what my name was on here lol

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/08/2020 21:45

@Sheera1 that sounds a bit traumatic! Could it be an internal pile bleeding - mine don't generally bleed but I've heard they can bleed quite a lot! And you're in clexane now so you'll find you'll bleed a bit more than usual. Re the blood pressure - I get terrible spikes if I'm anxious! My normal bp is around 104/62 if I'm anxious it shoots up to 140/95 ish!! I ended up in the assessment unit with my last baby due to it being high one antenatal - I was very stressed at the time and the doctor had done a sweep too. Glad to hear all was fine!
