Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Copying our list over so we can keep up. If you would like to join please copy and paste the list, adding your own details in date order.

Really hope I’m doing this right! 🙈

Morning ladies ...or is it night?

I delivered baby Zachary Thursday after theeeee most amazing water birth ! He is soooooo beautiful!!!!

Latent labour as you heard me grump about and up to hospital Thurs 9am for the planned induction though I knew there was no way they were gonna proceed with the contractions coming and going. I was only 2cm so they swept me which accelerated contractions nicely. I then got the shock of my life when they offered me a place at the midwifery unit , and a birthing pool ! As I am old therefore high risk plus all the faff with movements. So from 930am I stayed upright , paced tru the contractions and then got in the pool which was incredible .
At 3pm despite the contractions being every 5 mins , the mw examined me and I was only 3cm..however she swept me and my waters broke. Back into the pool , started gas and air then
By 3.50pm I was ready to push and he only needed 3 pushes.

It was the most amazing experience, I had my cafe del mar music on , chilled lighting, kept using my hypnobirthing and dp mw and i were a team. I could focus on the affirmation that I was stronger than my surges and that really helped and as I was a little trippy on the gas and suffering could imagine my body opening up to release my son. I have had a couple of stitches for a second degree tear in the same spot as my DDS tear.

Trying to BF but struggling due to nipple shape and his teeth buds. Will discuss with midwife later and will move to combined feeding as planned.

Sorry for the ramble but oxytocin high still, shattered , sore, very much in love and adoring watching our family of 5 bond .

Xxx

Countingblessings · 29/08/2020 14:50

@Realladymarmalade congratulations!!!!!! What a beautiful birthing story! Im so delighted that it all went well. Rest and recover as much as you can and enjoy your beautiful boy. Well done Mama! X

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 29/08/2020 15:05

@Realladymarmalade many congratulations!!! So happy you had such a lovely birth! Rest up now xxx

Realladymarmalade · 29/08/2020 15:12

Thanks. I know not everyones birth story works out so hope that doesn't sound gloaty - I had a difficult birth with ds1.
I think was just luck really .

duffered how are you ?

The bloody midwife hasnt got back to me re my boobs. I would really ap3preciate the promised visit today. 😭

DufferedUp · 29/08/2020 16:40

Congratulations Realladymarmalade!!!

I'm in hospital. Didn't need the pessary as they say they can break my waters without it so just waiting for the go ahead from the delivery suite now. Been here all day and they say unlikely to be any time soon.

Frazzlerock · 29/08/2020 16:54

Congratulations @Realladymarmalade !!! Such a fabulous birth! 🧡
Are we sharing pictures of our new babies? I don't think anyone has yet! 😁

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 29/08/2020 17:07

@DufferedUp the waiting is a killer isn't it!! Watching every midwife go past and wondering when you're going to get the go ahead! However, it's my eldest sons 18th birthday tomorrow 😆 Good luck and hope it's soon for you! Xx

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 29/08/2020 17:33

@Frazzlerock no one has put a photo up but I'm happy to - I don't quite get this anonymity thing with mn tbh! I never say anything that I wouldn't say to someone's face and I don't really care if people know who I am either 🤣🤣

AliasGrape · 29/08/2020 17:53

Congratulations @Realladymarmalade, sounds like a wonderful birth experience 💙

@DufferedUp hope it’s soon for you!

@onlyreadingneverposting8 @Sheera1 I was on clexane, though not till a bit later in the pregnancy when I mentioned a family history thing to consultant and they bumped my risk factor up. I’m having to do 6 weeks postnatally too, so under 2 weeks to go now hurray. I do the top of my legs.

DufferedUp · 29/08/2020 19:50

They're bloody sending me home! Big queue of people ahead of me to have waters broken.

Sheera1 · 29/08/2020 20:28

Huge congrats @realladymarmalade what a brill birthing story. You were due a good one. I love the name Zachary! Hope midwife gets the bf sorted asap for you.

Ooh I would love to do pics. I am happy too when my time comes.

@dufferedup oh no that is so frustrating especially as you have been there all day too. Fingers crossed you are at the start of the queue tomorrow and get a good night's sleep. Might be last one for a while. So frustrating to be all ready for it and then nothing.

Ahh yes I remember now @aliasgrape my memory is shockingly bad. Tops of legs sounds good. DP did it today. He was a bit concerned it would be near the baby, but no probs pinching a good bit of skin lying down. He kept apologising lol. Wasn't too bad. Stung less afterwards than the one yesterday.

DP and I have spent all day cleaning out what will be the nursery and getting rid of lots of junk and dust! Felt I accomplished something useful today 😁.
Tooth much better. My car is a saga and currently arguing with Ford. Going to cost £1600! That is like almost 2 months of mat leave I had saved up. I am gutted. They say the clutch burnt out which is a nonsense. It was apparently recalled last year just before I bought it and work done on the clutch and I have only done 5k miles since. Been driving 24 yrs with no clutch issues and they are saying it is pilot error. It went instantly. No slippage or loss of gears, just bam, no gears and a burning smell. I did have a wee bubble but was too tired to get really upset and pissed off about it.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 29/08/2020 21:21

So sorry @DufferedUp - that's so annoying!

Ethellsmum · 29/08/2020 23:26

Congratulations on the new arrivals.
Baby is 6 weeks old now - I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone. She’s feeding better now after her tongue tie was snipped and we’ve not needed to use the nipple shields at all today.

I’ve been on tinzaparin injections since 28 weeks, I can finally stop tomorrow. They’ve made me black and blue and a couple have been brutal, others I’ve barely felt. Hubby has to do mine as I can’t even look.
We do my belly cos there is plenty of flesh on there!

NaomiB79 · 29/08/2020 23:34

@Realladymarmalade congratulations, lovely to read your news, your birth sounded wonderful!

fool11 · 30/08/2020 01:28

Congratulations @Realladymarmalade, wonderful news! Glad to hear you had a wonderful experience and you are both well.

DufferedUp · 30/08/2020 19:46

Well that didn't go as planned!

Sent home at 8pm having had a bloody show. By 3am I was contracting every 3 mins and whilst on the phone to MAC my waters went. Pain immediately went from 1 to 100. Got to MAC at 4am begging for an epidural. I was 3-4 cm at that point. After 40 mins monitoring I was 4 so went to the delivery suite. In the time it took to do the epidural (twice) I went to 10cm. Baby's heartbeat was low so I was whisked to theatre for forceps delivery. Literally 3 pushes and out she popped, 7lb 8oz.

I lost 2 litres of blood over a few hours so was back in theatre at lunch time and now have a balloon in my uterus so have to stay in a couple of days. Utterly exhausted.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 30/08/2020 20:40

Many congratulations @DufferedUp! Hope you're not feeling too traumatised! I had a similar experience with one of mine where things went very very quickly and it all got a bit hairy. Rest up now! Xxx

Sheera1 · 30/08/2020 21:51

@dufferedup oh my goodness you poor thing. So pleased she is out safely and you are ok if a bit battered. Rest up. Well done mummy. It might take a while to feel ok a out the birth when it went haywire. Have a good blub and give your daughter a squeeze. Xxx

fool11 · 31/08/2020 01:06

Congratulations @DufferedUp..gosh, sounds almost identical to my experience, the speed of delivery..look after yourself, hope you will feel better soon x

Frazzlerock · 31/08/2020 08:43

Congratulations @DufferedUp !! What a scary experience for you, but I'm so pleased you're recovering now and your little girl is finally here x

AliasGrape · 31/08/2020 09:00

Congratulations @DufferedUp , wonderful news that baby is here but sounds like it was a scary birth. Wishing you a speedy recovery, take gentle care!

Hope other people do share too!

@AliasGrape beautiful photo! And she was wide awake- so unusual to early day photos with eyes open!!

Countingblessings · 31/08/2020 10:23

Congratulations @DufferedUp! Not quite what youd hoped for but you and your little one are here and safe and that's brilliant. Take time to relax, recover and process it all and enjoy those newborn cuddles!!

NaomiB79 · 31/08/2020 11:13

Congratulations @DufferedUp, great to hear your baby is here safe and well. Sorry you had a rough time, hope you are recovering well and are able to enjoy this time with your new baby xx
