@Clalou83 there is a retailer finder on the uppababy website. I like the silver cross wave but I have heard SC are quite heavy. Also like the egg it's so cute.

Clalou83 · 11/06/2020 15:05

@DressingGown87 Oh right after going to the one we go to tomorrow we are going to book winstanleys. There's quite a wait for them but there's plenty of time. Rather get what we prefer. Tomorrow will be nice just to look at all sorts, get ideas of prices, etc

At winstanleys is it just prams and all things travel systems?

Clalou83 · 11/06/2020 15:21

@DressingGown87 just booked now there's quite a wait - a month. Must be good!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 11/06/2020 15:44

Slightly OT but still relevant...I understand face masks/coverings are now essential for outpatient appointments so I've bought one from Apricot online. Says it's antibacterial up to 20 washes. I actually went for this one over others as it's a pinky colour to match my skin so less scary to my 4yr old.

DressingGown87 · 11/06/2020 17:07

@Clalou83 they do seem to have a good reputation. Keep an eye on their Facebook page, they get cancellations, and are thinking of adding new dates. It’s Pram, travel systems, furniture, bedside cots, changing bags, car seats. Shop is actually quite big. But they have limited things on display, due to current restrictions. Lovely lady too who i dealt with. Parking is to the rear.

@Clalou83 @watersintheclouds glad both of your scans went well! xx

I also had my scan today! We are having a boy. Time to think of boy names - rather difficult I’m finding hmmm

WaveStreet · 11/06/2020 17:34

@Glooorb glad your scan went well too and congratulations on your boy 💙 boys are definitely ahead so far! Agree that boy names are a big challenge.

DressingGown87 · 11/06/2020 17:44

@Glooorb congratulations on your scan, and your little boy 💙 Agree boys names are so difficult. Looks like Late October is being run by boys!

@@Glooorb congratulations on your boy!
@Clalou83 @watersintheclouds I'm glad your scans were well! A week tomorrow before I have mine, feels like I've been waiting forever.

Jaffas22 · 11/06/2020 21:30

Evening ladies,
Iv been keeping quiet lately and reading updates. Struggling with my anxiety at the moment, finally have my scan on Monday.
I just don’t feel pregnant, iv felt like this since the main symptoms have settled. Don’t feel as though my bump is changing/growing much. Still can’t say if I have definite movements or if it’s just twinges/muscle twitches. Should this movement be lower down or near the belly button?

LadyB90 · 11/06/2020 22:27

@Jaffas22
I know how you are feeling as I was feeling the exact same before my scan. I felt it was a bit of a limbo period where I didn't feel pregnant. The scan will give you the reassurance you need that baby is ok in there! I could see my baby moving around loads eventhough I've felt nothing really, so now I'm less worried about everything. I think the lead up to the 20 week scan is the most anxiety I've felt since being pregnant. I hope Monday comes around quickly for you so that you can get some reassurance ❤️

SamK93 · 11/06/2020 22:28

@Jaffas22 hope your doing okay, try not to worry. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow, all my movements have been very low, under the belly button. Try not to stress or worry, hopefully once you've had your scan on Monday you'll be okay and get all the reassurance you need xx

Clalou83 · 11/06/2020 22:34

@Jaffas22 I felt exactly the same my lovely. So hard to get your head around. I still can't believe it myself but the 2nd NHS scan did make me realise more today that this is real.
I think what helps for me is having things to focus on ie hobbies, I've been painting for baby of corse, yoga and meditation really helps to connect with baby. I talk to them too. Keep talking and know that everything you feel is ok but all emotions are temporary so if negative they will pass, just notice them try not to follow ie get lots in the emotions by over thinking, they just drift away. (It's not easy but the more you practise the easier it becomes.
I find if I've got too caught up in my thoughts and upset etc I concentrate on breath, have a few positive affirmations in which I repeat, connect with baby and remember all the things I am grateful for and give thanks for those. It can even be things outside of what ya have been thinking about ie the small things having a home, the sound of the birds what ever you enjoy and appreciate. Really helps to ground me anyways, I think what ever it is that works it's important to find a few tools just to take you away from your thoughts especially when they are not useful.

Hope this helps apologies if I have babbled alittle. Take care and be kind to yourself x x

Freddie1987 · 11/06/2020 22:58

@Jaffas22 I totally get this anxiety, it's completely normal. I felt the same as you and the others, the most anxious before my scan. It's definitely a weird limbo period because you're not really feeling much and you don't have a massive bump yet. One thing that helps me is looking at my bump and thinking I'm only halfway through, imagine if it's double the size, you'll be massive! So you don't want it to grow toooo fast 😉

Remember we're doing all of this during one of the weirdest times in recent history, you're doing so well and like @Clalou83 try and bear in mind that simply thinking something negative doesn't mean it's true. Our brains like to play cruel tricks on us! Hope you can find some time to relax and focus on good thoughts of your baby, take each day as it comes. Xxx

Jaffas22 · 11/06/2020 23:15

@LadyB90 @Clalou83 @SamK93 @Freddie1987
Thankyou so much, getting emotional just reading your kind words (pesky hormones)!!
I do think it is just the lead up to the scan making me feel this way. And it doesn’t sound like I’m the only person who felt like this.
As you say this is such a strange time to be going through pregnancy and I feel my maternity care so far has been poor which also isn’t helping. Iv rang midwife, gp, and a maternity advice line this week and feel none of them took me seriously. Also rang specsavers about a new problem and got pied off by them too .. so feeling sorry for myself and as though nobody cares.
Not sleeping well at all, still working in the hospital and feeling as though I’m exposed to risk, bickering with DP over the most silly things, blerghhhhh just needed to get it all off my chest. Sorry for the rant, Thankyou for listening.
Hopefully on monday I’ll get the reassurance I need to pick me up, in the meantime I’m going to listen to your advice, try some yoga and try take some time to myself xxx

Flora20 · 12/06/2020 07:49

@Jaffas22 Hope you're feeling better today. It's definitely normal, like the others have said try to keep busy with something that makes you feel good, whatever that might be! You'll feel so much better when you see baby wriggling around and it won't be long until you get proper kicks that you can't mistake! It's such a strange time to be having a baby for the first time. Only a couple of days until your scan!

1990shopefulftm · 12/06/2020 08:15

Feeling a bit down about my joint pains at the moment, on one hand I could try to get back to physio but it ll be a long wait and I can't take painkillers to get through the exercises like I used to, on the other perhaps it ll correct itself once baby is born and I just need to push through for a few months.

Clalou83 · 12/06/2020 08:23

@Jaffas22Good morning to you. Was just going to say if you do yoga be sure to be careful ie (pregnancy yoga) if you don't it before it's fine. It's more about just being their in the moment giving yourself time.
Another thing I love is starting my day off sat outside in the sun eating my breakfast. Come back sun.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 12/06/2020 08:38

Glad to hear your scans all went well ladies!

@Glooorb Congrats on your little boy.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 12/06/2020 08:45

SamK93 · 12/06/2020 09:40

EmmaA96 · 12/06/2020 09:55

@Glooorb @watersintheclouds @Clalou83 Congratulations on your scans!

@UpsyDaisy1234 thank you! Oh it certainly hasn’t sunk in for us yet, we’ve known for about 8ish weeks!! Don’t think it will until I actually see their is two babies!
