@DressingGown87 I'd say I go with number 3 for movements, I don't specifically count them yet and as long as I feel something around the times I had previous days then I'm trying not to worry about it. It can vary between a gentle wriggle earlier in the day and then he kicks quite hard when I m watching tv at night.

@Sls668 I've read a couple of books and found some youtube videos I can watch, i m not planning to pay for an antenatal class but might try to find an online first aid one that I can do.

1990shopefulftm · 04/08/2020 12:32

any ideas at which appointment you have to go through your birth plan with your midwife? I know what I'd want in an ideal scenario but am holding off from writing anything down until nearer the time as it's not looking great for our area to avoid ending up with the same restrictions as the rest of Lancashire at the moment.

DressingGown87 · 04/08/2020 14:10

It’s look like we are all third scenario, and I’m over thinking. So glad I asked 😊 thank you!

@1990shopefulftm I went through mine at 28 and it’s being reviewed at 36. But in the notes there is a section which says weeks 32-34 coping mechanisms and pain management, labour etc and the MW then signs it. So I’m guessing that’s to say they have discussed it with you. It looks like we will be lockdown again by the end of the week, the restrictions don’t seem to be that bad around us, just no visiting householders or mixing. No closure of anything.

@Sls668 I’ve signed up to the maternity collective, as recommended by my MW and HV, there was an offer for 2 months free. But I don’t know if this ended.

@KitKatKit glad you have your cleaner back too, I’m so excited to see her. Thank you. I’m going away this weekend for some rest, long walks, and some me time in the Lake District, which should hopefully be what I need.

I’ve been watching some antenatal videos on the NHS website today and (forgive me if this is obvious) it’s just dawned on me that they advise baby to be in the same room as you for sleeping whether that’s night OR day. I thought, for some reason, he would be fine in the next to me crib upstairs during the day as long as the camera was on him. Now I’m thinking should I be buying a Moses basket for downstairs? What are everyone’s thoughts?

1990shopefulftm · 04/08/2020 16:42

@DressingGown87 I went to see my colleagues to drop stuff off at work yesterday which was the first time I'd seen anyone that wasn't a medical professional or a delivery driver that isn't DH since being 9 weeks pregnant. So I'm not worried about any closures as it won't change what I've been doing, I'm just hoping it won't change midwife appointments or anything like that as then I think I would get quite frustrated/ upset about it when I've done everything as I should have and some selfish people don't seem to care in our area, if that makes sense.

I've got my 28 week appointment tomorrow and then I think I'll have my next at 31 weeks so wasn't sure which one they'd go through a birth plan in, will see what happens tomorrow :)

1990shopefulftm · 04/08/2020 16:44

@FirstSurprise001 I didn't know it was during the day as well either until I watched some antenatal videos myself, so we've got a cot, a next to me upstairs and then a small moses basket for downstairs.

DressingGown87 · 04/08/2020 16:52

@FirstSurprise001 I have my bedside crib in my room upstairs, cot for naps (after 6 months) and then downstairs I have my carry cot from the pram, with a stand (so I don’t have to use the pram base). Also have a bouncer chair and a play mat.

@1990shopefulftm hopefully it won’t change your appointments, good luck tomorrow. I think it’s the 34 week app they go through it, but you can ask tomorrow. I’m hoping it won’t mean I have to give birth alone, I’ve met some friends outdoors (otherwise I would have gone insane talking to myself And it was advised by perinatal and MW ), One of my friends is my bubble so she is my birthing partners, comes in my house to help me move and lift things, and she is away with me this weekend. I trust that she is following the rules, and keeping herself to herself with her kids. But some of my friends aren’t, going on nights out, dates, (mostly in east lancashire / Manchester too) and they wonder why I’m avoiding them! So it makes complete sense.

@FirstSurprise001 the thing that shocked me, was the length of time in a car seat! Like really where can I get to in 30minutes!

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 04/08/2020 17:13

@DressingGown87 I'm glad you had friends that understood why you wanted to meet them outdoors and sounds like you can trust your birthing partner, I've seen people say that it's violating our rights not to have one partner/someone to advocate for you during birth so I think it would be the last thing to go and that visiting outside of labour will get scraped first.

It sucks that you have friends that don't seem to get it especially since they're in the areas that already have restrictions.

My friends all live a bit of a distance away (which I think has helped me being isolated as I don't seem them more than 2 or 3 times a year anyway) and have followed the guidelines very well but because they have to mix with others for their jobs , I've decided not to see them until baby is born. They have been incredibly understanding and asked me if I wanted a socially distanced baby shower and when I said I'd rather not they didn't question it at all, I think they might still be planning to surprise me with some sort of virtual party at some point which is lovely of them.

FirstSurprise001 · 04/08/2020 17:14

@1990shopefulftm @DressingGown87 that makes me feel better that I wasn’t the only one! 😂 DP was saying to just keep him in the carrycot from the pram but then it’d either be on the pram or on the floor which would drive me insane! Will be investing in a Moses basket for downstairs I think!

Crazy thinking how close we all are now! 30 weeks next week and I’ve started going on those mad buying sprees. Just ordered the cutest little clothes from Next - bye bye money! 💸

Mc3209 · 04/08/2020 19:02

Anyone else getting tight chest and shortness of breath episodes? I am getting quite puffy generally when walking , especially uphill (thanks, pregnancy). But what weirded me out a lot is that I got tight chest/shortness of breath/feeling rough for few minutes when sitting down at work today. Might need to get that checked out.. 😳

roarfeckingroarr · 04/08/2020 19:13

We start antenatal classes tonight! Doing Bump and Baby. Still online but looking forward to it and everything is feeling rather real now.

Flora20 · 04/08/2020 19:53

@FirstSurprise001 Yep, baby needs to be with you wherever they're sleeping, it's one of the big SIDS reduction factors. We used a moses basket last time although she was rarely in it, usually sleeping on one of us or in the sling!

@1990shopefulftm It's any time from 32 weeks. I'd write down ideas now and not worry too much about what changes might happen for now - I'm in the Bradford area so in partial lockdown again but my midwife was confident that it shouldn't cause any further issues re the birth, so my home birth should be able to go ahead regardless for example.

WaveStreet · 04/08/2020 20:21

How much detail are we supposed to have for birth plan before we discus it with the midwife? I really haven't spent much time thinking about it.

Re day sleeping I am planning to use pram carrycot and get a bouncer, or possibly a sleepyhead-type nest purely for the sofa whilst I'm there with him.

1990shopefulftm · 04/08/2020 20:24

@Flora20 I was wanting to go for a midwife unit birth with gas and air and paracetamol and asking for a quick discharge from there rather than going to the ward afterwards if it can be avoided. I have thought about a home birth but decided I know I d panic too much if I ended up needing to be transferred even though we re quite close to the hospital.

DressingGown87 · 04/08/2020 20:59

@WaveStreet this is the birth plan copy by MW gave me, if I decided to go down the induction route. assets.nhs.uk/prod/documents/My-birth-plan-nhs.docx

Said to take into consideration what I can / can’t have (due to being High risk / medication) and she will keep going through it with me, depending on what I decide / happens.

@roarfeckingroarr hope the class is going well!

@Mc3209 it may be the babies position, pushing everything up. But I would get it checked out / mention it to the midwife. Hope your ok.

@1990shopefulftm it’s nice that they are understanding and a surprise virtual shower sounds good. I’m hoping my friends don’t organise one, because I don’t want to see them (Due to them partying), and hope they understand that, and it would put me an other friends who are sticking to the rules in an awkward position, although I know they would mean well.

1990shopefulftm · 04/08/2020 21:24

@DressingGown87 do you feel you d be able to tell them you weren't planning on having one yourself? To try to make it clear they shouldnt throw you one.

1990shopefulftm · 05/08/2020 15:20

Had my 28 week appointment, they've said they ll discuss birth plan at 36 weeks unless anything changes in the mean time.
I had a different midwife again to last time but it was one who normally works at the midwife unit and she seemed confident that at the moment there's no reason why I can't have my labour there.

my bump measurement is the 90th percentile but my scan on sunday was the 50th, shows how it's not an exact science.

DressingGown87 · 05/08/2020 17:56

@1990shopefulftm I’ve dropped lots of (obviously) hints, so fingers crossed. Glad your appointment went well, and hopefully you get the birth centre. It does look nice. They do say to take measurements as a pinch of a salt, as it all depends on position.

My hopsital called today they have concerns over my bloods from my 28week app. I have extremely low levels of iron, folate, B12 and something else. I’m already on prescription tablets to boost them too and have been since before pregnancy. No wonder I feel knackered! Got to go in for a consultant review and some more tests. 😔

1990shopefulftm · 05/08/2020 18:30

@DressingGown87 yes, his head is quite low down so probably makes a difference.

I hope they get to the bottom of the low levels for you, I know they make very high dose injections of it worst case scenario if you needed them.

KitKatKit · 05/08/2020 19:06

@Mc3209 I've been getting short episodes of feeling out of breath, but they have generally passed within a few minutes. Been struggling this evening though, as my usual nasal congestion (sexy!) which I've had for weeks + the breathlessness together has made it really hard to breathe.

I've also got very little appetite today which is not like me - I love food/eating everything!
I've been Googling and it says that shortness of breath is normal in the third trimester, so I feel a bit silly moaning about it. It's slightly disconcerting though.

1990shopefulftm · 05/08/2020 19:32

@KitKatKit don't feel silly for moaning about it, breathlessness can really throw you off

parks11 · 05/08/2020 19:57

@Mc3209 and @KitKatKit , I've been feeling really breathless, tired and look pretty pale!

Received blood test results back today which say I am low in B12. Apparently it's pretty common, so maybe speak to your midwife about it xx

parks11 · 05/08/2020 20:01

Ah just read below and saw your post @DressingGown87 . Looks like low B12 are low for you too, I hope you are feeling better soon and are more energised! Xx

DressingGown87 · 05/08/2020 21:39

@1990shopefulftm yes that probably makes a difference, you’ll have to see how you get on. Yea I’m hoping they can inject it into me, as the tablets don’t seem to be working, Will see what my consultant says tomorrow.

@KitKatKit sorry your still feeling rubbish. Hopefully the lack of appetite and shortness of breath is due to the baby’s position.

@park11 sorry to read your low of B12 too, was your iron etc ok? Hopefully the medication gives us a new lease of life. No wonder We don’t feel glowing!
