Morning guys, finally found the thread - for some reason the tag didn't work so I got a bit lost! 😅

Clothes - wise I djd a mini H&M shop and should get my parcel today, they've got some good wintry bits on sale if anyone's interested because most of the other retailers only seem to have summer season stuff still. Next I'm eyeing up some higher tog sleeping bags if anyone's seen any good ones!

Sls668 · 10/06/2020 09:26

@Freddie1987 oo im glad you mentioned sleeping bags as I've seen some really cute ones but no clue on tog (I know I could google it but you’ve just reminded me now!). Do you know what’s the recommended tog for winter?

Flora20 · 10/06/2020 09:34

Hi all, wrote a post yesterday then accidentally deleted it then lost the thread 😂

With clothes sizes, everyone told me to get 0-3, so had to send mum out to get newborn as my first was swamped by the 0-3 (she was 6lb14 so not ridiculously tiny!) Having said that she only wore those for 3 weeks ish so would say not to go overboard on newborn. Remember as well people tend to buy you 0-3 stuff once baby's born, we ended up with loads and lots of it was barely worn! I'd say go for fewer rather than more, you can always get more online if you find you're short one baby is here.

@Sls668 Have a look at the grobag website, they've got lots of info on tog weight and temperature.

Mc3209 · 10/06/2020 10:11

@Sls668 I was planning to go with the Grobag as @Flora20. I also bought a Gro egg room thermometer, so hoping to use those together for simplicity sake.

Has anyone else's feet grown?! I knew this could happen, but I am still perplexed now I had to buy new shoes because all my previous ones are tight. I am not swollen, just feet got longer by half a size and wider... Size 6 here I come.

60sPony · 10/06/2020 11:46

Gro bags are good but I also really recommend ErgoPouch - they do long sleeve ones which are great for a winter baby and also the legs zip into a bag or into separate legs which is great for the car seat or pushchair if you are ever out past bedtime for seamless car to bed transfer

Freddie1987 · 10/06/2020 11:57

@60sPony oh they look lovely, I think I'm going to go for one of those swaddle bags to try first! Thank you 😊

DressingGown87 · 10/06/2020 13:04

@Glooorb the NCT do seem to full up quickly. I’m going to ask tomorrow about local Antental classes see what’s available.

@Clalou83 thank you for the link

I’ve got my pram and car seat! Went for the Uppababy vista! It was a tough choice between the Ocarro and that. But I just had to make a decision. Car seat I went for the pebble pro. Not getting delivered until I’m ready.

I’ve also need some Gro bags! No idea on togs! Gets cold in the Lake District in the lodge, and that’s where I plan to spend most of my maternity. @Freddie1987 thank will have a look on H&M, and thanks @Flora20 that’s a good insight to timings / quantities.

All well at our 20 week scan today. Growing nicely & still girls thankfully 😅 Even showed me them in 4D 🥰

Mc3209 · 10/06/2020 14:11

@DressingGown87 I think you were asking about Emma's diary and other club things. Well, I've registered with Emma's diary and looks good, however do pay attention to details in offers. I used one of their vouchers for Chicco Next2Me crib, in the title saying it was 'Magic' type crib and not the others. Me being pregnancy brained and excited about a discount I bought the thing (from online4baby), and only after I've paid for it I noticed it wasn't a Chicco magic, it was another version of the crib. I am annoyed at myself for not checking carefully as it's too late to cancel now, the delivery is all set for tomorrow. I mean it's still a nice Chicco Next2Me, but without the rocking option.
And to make the matters worse I read the reviews for Online4Baby (apparently their customer service is pretty awful and it's difficult to return things) and now I am very apprehensive about what's going to arrive tomorrow.

Mc3209 · 10/06/2020 14:12

@EmmaA96 they are beautiful! I am so glad all is well on your scan 😊

LadyB90 · 10/06/2020 15:45

@Glooorb

My partner was the same but then we found a private clinic nearby allowing partners that is just one sonographer, and was only allowing one couple in at a time so super low risk as you couldn't go in before the previous person had come out. The only reason they aren't allowing partners at the hospitals is because of social distancing and the waiting rooms getting too crowded. Not sure what area you are in but maybe you can find something similar nearby? I'm in Oxfordshire

DressingGown87 · 10/06/2020 16:01

@EmmaA96 Them pictures are great! Glad they are both doing well.

@Mc3209 Sorry to hear you've had trouble! Will keep an eye on the offers, and baby brain. Hope you manage to get it returned and swapped. I've not used online baby, but a few people have so hopefully they are reasonable.

Don't really have a date from my work about when they ll be stopping WFH, other people in a completely different team will be back in soon but after thinking it over I think it's probably best if I request to go at 28 weeks since the covid guidance is to be more careful then.

I have very well controlled asthma as I got to come of daily inhalers last year but if I get an infection it can get bad again, not hospitalisation bad but needing steroids I wouldn't want to take for it bad so I m thinking as a balance of risk it's probably best to take it as early as I can. Don't want to arrange the leave and then the date to go back in is sooner and i ve not got enough notice to change it.

GhostWorld · 10/06/2020 16:39

I had the scan today and they wrote down the sex for us, we're having a boy! Everything looks fine and healthy, I didn't realise quite how anxious I was but the feeling of relief is amazing! I also had the whooping vaccine, does anyone know how quickly the side effects kick in if I have them?
@EmmaA96 great photos and congratulations!

Clalou83 · 10/06/2020 16:51

@GhostWorld I didn't have any side effects just a tiny bruise as it was put into the muscle so was a little tender for a day or two.

Mc3209 · 10/06/2020 17:10

@GhostWorld congratulations on your scan! Re whooping cough vaccine, I was fine the day of, but the following 2-3 days I was completely wiped out. The arm was sore for 2-3 days afterwards too.

1990shopefulftm · 10/06/2020 17:20

@Mc3209 I'm waiting on a different crib from online4baby, they emailed me offering an alternative as the date of arrival got put back by a week and they got back to me quickly when I realised that with baby brain I put our address in wrong, so I'm hopeful it'll be okay.

Mc3209 · 10/06/2020 17:25

@1990shopefulftm That's reassuring, hopefully will be fine.

Freddie1987 · 10/06/2020 17:47

@EmmaA96 oh wow, how gorgeous are those pics! 🥰

@DressingGown87 so the H&M stuff arrived, the outfits I'm not overly impressed with the quality even though they're apparently organic cotton...hmm. I did get a brown woolen jacket though on sale which is really sweet so overall not too bad.

For anyone who's using Emma's Diary, I've picked up the first two gift packs you can get from Boots or Argos. Some nice little freebies in there like palmers stretchmarks range and a tummy scrub which is a bit bizarre but I guess would make sense if you're feeling a bit itchy as the skin stretches! Mini nappy ointment and waterwipes samples too.

@GhostWorld glad it went well and welcome to the boy club 😉 I've got my vaccine tomorrow, really hoping it doesn't tire me out because I'm still having daily naps after lunch at the moment!

@Mc3209 really hope my feet don't get any bigger, they're wide enough as it is 😂

Deut28 · 10/06/2020 17:53

@1990shopefulftm Your employer has a legal duty to carry out a risk assessment for you and take steps to make your working environment safe or alter your working conditions (like allowing you to continue working from home). Might be worth asking for that first? My HR have said no one will be forced into the office while covid-19 is still a risk and I'm expecting to work from home until October.

Pregnant Then Screwed have a helpful FAQs page with legal advice and template letters to send to your employer if you need them.

Flora20 · 10/06/2020 18:46

@1990shopefulftm Don't rush into agreeing anything until you've found out whether working from home is on offer - your employer basically has to do everything they can to let you wfh if possible. With the asthma I'd have thought that's even more important. Are you in a union? (Sorry, can't remember what your job is!)

I'm wfh for the foreseeable, looking increasingly like I won't be back even by September...

Sls668 · 10/06/2020 19:19

Is anyone else feeling uncomfortable around their ribs? On an evening my body feels like it doesnt quite fit together anymore and my ribs feel like they’re being pushed out! I’m only tiny (4ft 11) and I feel like I’m going to explode on an evening!

roarfeckingroar · 10/06/2020 19:21

@Sls668 massively uncomfortable on my ribs too. The left side particularly. I've bought a couple of bras that are an extra 3 sizes bigger around the ribs - awful support but a bit looser is making some difference.

1990shopefulftm · 10/06/2020 19:23

@Deut28 @Flora20 No I m not in a union.

The other factor is I m also dyslexic and well pregnancy is making it a bit worse gradually to deal with so if it wasn't for covid I would hold on a few weeks longer at most so i d still be thinking late August or as it's getting worse for me information processing wise and you can't do anything to adjust for that at all .

So it's really taking it 3 weeks earlier and one plus of lockdown is that financially we ve got a bit more saved at this point so we d be okay from that aspect.

Clalou83 · 10/06/2020 20:57

@roarfeckingroar @Sls668 Yesterday in the back on my right rib then the left felt very heavy and tight, quite an uncomfortable feeling it was.

I'm at that stage when I put my hands on my tummy I think ooh what was that was it a kick, sure I felt something this morning.
