@justtb that must be tough and I'm sorry your mum made you feel bad. I'm struggling a bit with putting on any weight due to previous EDs and my midwife referred me to the perinatal mental health services who are calling on Tuesday for a general chat. A kilo is absolutely nothing and unless you're 4"2, 57 kilos is no weight at all. How are you feeling, most importantly?

DressingGown87 · 03/05/2020 19:46

@justtb putting weight on is part and parcel of pregnancy, and your mum should have been more considerate with her words. Your growing her grandchild! As KitKat said as long as your both happy and healthy who cares. I'm worried about 'piling' on the pounds as I had just got to my goal weight, after years of being over and the under, but I just remind myself I'm growing, and it is what it is.

@roarfeckingroar Good luck with your PN appointment, I had my assessment a few weeks ago, so start my weekly therapy tomorrow.

@LST87 Congratulations we share a due date! Try not to worry too much, sex can aggravate the cervix, and cause some discoloration / spotting. If its still happening tomorrow call the midwifes, or early pregnancy unit.

LST87 · 03/05/2020 20:04

@DressingGown87 I did notice we shared the same date 😊 think we have our private scan the same day next weekend 🤞we both get to see happy healthy babies, I can’t wait to find out what I’m having.

Mc3209 · 03/05/2020 20:21

Speaking of cervix, I found a small lump on mine today. With all ligaments stretching I am getting 'different' sensation in the area when doing kegel exercises, so decided to have a check inside just in case (as you do..). The little bump wasn't there before, I remember coping a feel of my cervix when trying to establish whether I was pregnant or not before BFP 🙄 Had normal smear 3 months ago. Pretty sure it's just a cyst, bit of course being pregnant I am now paranoid. And I am too embarrassed to tell my MW about it... Argh.

@LST87 aww do you! Mine is a routine NHS scan, but they’ve said I can find out the gender. I’m excited and nervous now, didn’t have scan anxiety with this one until today. Fingers crossed everything is fine for us both! Have you got any gut feeling?

@mc3209 Don’t feel embarrassed to speak to your midwife, I’m sure they heard everything! But cysts are so common in pregnancy because of the changes in Hormones. Hopefully it’s nothing.

justtb · 03/05/2020 20:48

Thank you for all your kind words guys! It has really helped me. I think I'm just feeling very sensitive and hormonal at the moment - has a cry over teen mum uk earlier for no reason really.. it was just a montage of babies and the tears came rolling.
Personally I am at an awkward stage where I can't tell if it's baby, food bloat, gas bloat or just from all the comfort food I've been eating.. must be the lockdown.

@1990shopefulftm thank you, I didn't even consider that the placenta would even weigh anything. That's fascinating!

@kitkatkit I have dedicated two drawers to winter clothes and trousers that are too snug.. put my nicer going out clothes on depop too! I won't be going out anytime soon, lol!

@Flora20 I know I shouldn't listen, but it's hard with mums sometimes. She's struggling to understand about my morning sickness too.. all pregnancies are so different.. I'm gonna hold on a bit longer for jeans as I never leave the house. And there is no shame in chocolate biscuits! It's what baby wants, obviously 😉

@roarfeckingroar really glad to hear that you are being referred to a service! I'm sure that will help a lot. Never was diagnosed with an ED but dropped to about 45kg when I was 16.. just didn't want to eat anything and since then I've always been small.. started putting more weight on due to medication at the end of last year. I am finding it difficult but we just keep having to remind ourselves it's all worth it and is for a good cause! Always here if you want to talk, I'm so glad someone feels similar to me

LST87 · 03/05/2020 20:54

@DressingGown87 I’ve had a few anxious moments but think it’s because we struggled to conceive so looking forward to seeing all is ok again, at 12 weeks I was sure it was a girl but now I’m back to not having a clue 🙈

UpsyDaisy1234 · 03/05/2020 20:57

@Justtb I have gained an extra 3kg with a big bump if that makes you feel better. Its just natural to gain weight in pregnancy. I would worry if am not. Lol

@LST87 I hope its nothing serious. If you had sex then it could just be an irritation on your "now sensitive" cervix. Ring EPU or your midwife or 111 to request an out of hours doctor give you a call

@Flora20 I think i left out the little details in my post. I had advice, help and support from a lot of people actually. I spoke to different moms, did alot of research, even went on to nappy lady.com. My twin sister uses reusable, same with SIL. They love it. I really wanted to use them & looked forward to it. But like I said, it wasn't meant for me. Different strokes for different folks😊

I swapped to disposables & has never looked back. I was happier and worried less. Also I had the knowledge that i didn't need to soak them up which i did for a couple of days but it left my washer all yucky. That it works for one, doesn't mean it'd work for anyone😊

FirstTimeBumps · 03/05/2020 22:03

@justtb I was in maternity trousers at 8 weeks. Last pregnancy the MW who did my whooping cough vaccine at 19 weeks asked me if I was sure I wasn't smuggling two in there 😑. People can be rude but I don't think they mean it so try not to take.it personally. She probably meant it in a nice way as in oooo huge bump rather than you're huge, I'm probably just rambling now but trying to make you feel better.

Slightly way ahead of myself here but I've been considering a VBAC and wondering if an aniball would be worth it. The one reason I was against VBAC would be having a tear that resulted in a worse recovery than my section so this seems like a way to alleviate that fear somewhat.

1990shopefulftm · 04/05/2020 09:32

Back pain woke me up last night, any recommendations for a compact pregnancy pillow? Really don't want to be kicking DH out of bed taking up a lot of space as we don't have anywhere comfortable for him set up at the moment.

WaveStreet · 04/05/2020 09:38

@1990shopefulftm i feel for you, i had a bad night too. Keen to see if anyone has any recommendations. I've been using a V-shaped pillow I had already, between my knees, but was finding that too cumbersome and annoying last night and some of the pregnancy ones are huge!
I keep waking up on my back too, I'm sure I never used to, typical!

Lorenzo3000 · 04/05/2020 09:45

@1990shopefulftm I got rid of my pregnancy pillow after my first and now I'm regretting it! Had a look on amazon last night and they have one that looks like a banana but has a fastening that can turn it into a doughnut shape for feeding. Think I might get it as it looks less cumbersome than others I've seen

FirstTimeBumps · 04/05/2020 09:50

@1990shopefulftm have you had a look at those little support wedges and bolsters you can get rather than a pillow?

1990shopefulftm · 04/05/2020 09:58

@WaveStreet I ve always been a side sleeper so I don't know what's causing me to wake up in pain, yes something as small but comfortable as possible would be ideal.
@Lorenzo3000 a small banana one sounds good.

1990shopefulftm · 04/05/2020 09:59

@FirstTimeBumps no I ve not heard of them, thank you I ll see what I can find :)

1990shopefulftm · 04/05/2020 12:06

Moses basket has arrived two weeks earlier than the estimate, need to find somewhere to hide it from the cat before the rooms sorted.

roarfeckingroar · 04/05/2020 13:17

@justtb you're right and it sounds like you are in a good rational place. My partner keeps reminding me that weight gain is important during pregnancy, especially as my weight was quite low beforehand. Always here for a chat Smile.

DP spent no fewer than seven hours researching and comparing travel systems yesterday. Apparently we're almost there!

Freddie1987 · 04/05/2020 13:29

@roarfeckingroar whaaat, 7 hours?! You are so lucky, mine has shown little to no interest in researching them even though I thought it would be right up their street! It's an absolute minefield 😂

1990shopefulftm · 04/05/2020 13:34

@roarfeckingroar I think I ve probably spent that long on it as the boot is tiny which makes things tricky, found a £99 travel system from Argos now that seems to cover what we need and that's way under budget, just hanging on a few weeks before ordering it incase something that's small enough miraculously appears.

SamK93 · 04/05/2020 13:34

Ahh I'm having the same problem as some of you too, I've never had any problems sleeping on my sides but now I'm in agony if I sleep on a certain side for a while, the pain in my hip and legs down the side is just horrible. I've had a horrible few nights, I've got a pregnancy pillow that I put in between my legs and under my stomach but not helping the leg pain at all. I'd love to be able to sleep on my back right now lol. I'm walking around the house today in agony

Lolllyf · 04/05/2020 14:23

@Lorenzo3000 I was also thinking of getting that one on amazon. The others look so big.

WaveStreet · 04/05/2020 14:36

@roarfeckingroar that's good that he's done a lot of research for you, perhaps he's trying to redeem himself a little by showing interest in shopping!

@1990shopefulftm glad you've managed to find a potential solution too, as you say you don't need to buy it now but at least its there to keep in mind.

@SamK93 poor you suffering too 😔 a bath in the evening sometimes helps my back ease before bed.

roarfeckingroar · 04/05/2020 14:57

@Freddie1987 @WaveStreet he loves it, he's really excited and I think he's found a way of showing it by helping. He's felt a bit useless because he can't grow the baby or help me outside of cooking and cleaning even more, which he does, and he's really excited to actually be useful. I'm getting excited updates - he's still at it this afternoon 😁

roarfeckingroar · 04/05/2020 15:03

His research has made up for scan-gate. Poor bugger.
