@Sls668 I do agree, they are expensive. I have the Medela swing flex electric pump which I have used for years and will use this time. I recommend it. I just buy new bottle teats for each baby.

@Mc3209 I'm also waiting for my 20weeks scan to start buying the few things that I need. But I have looking at sleepsuits and vests. Can't wait.

FirstTimeBumps · 02/05/2020 19:34

Salty crisp wise I found hoola hoops puffed ready salted are amazing. On my third packet 🙈 there are two private clinics by ours, the one we had our six week in which isn't allowing partners in, and window to the womb who I had issues with last time so not going back there. Told my OH today at the twenty week scan if he's still not allowed in I'm getting he sonographer to write it down and put it in an envelope and I'm going to taunt him with it until he cracks and opens it. Slightly evil like but I'm blaming the hormones 😂

Hello 👋
Hope you don’t mind a new joiner... after my 12 week scan baby’s due date has been moved to 29 October so I’m about 14 weeks.
Baby is #2 for me as have a 2.5 year old son already.

Clalou83 · 02/05/2020 20:18

@60sPony Welcome there's a few of us that have just joined in the last few days. My due date was moved to 29th Oct Smile

DressingGown87 · 02/05/2020 20:23

I'm the same, waiting until my 20 week scan or possibly even my 25 week scan before I start buying anything major. Ideally i want to go to the shops, push a pram, carry a car seat, and look at a next to me. I just saw the bottles today and though for that price I can't go wrong, going to leave them in their 'amazon' brown box, in a wardrobe. My main task at the minute is organizing and finishing the house, new bathroom, decorate, and do my garden up, plus sell all of my exs stuff (including business which I ran for the last 12 months), to give me a nest egg to spend.

@AdventureAhead Aww you have a bump! It was the best decision, I cant do the lifting anymore, and won't be able to go out working in the evenings when the baby is here, as I can't take 'it' with. Hopefully I've picked the right buyer, and its going to help someone else family with the extra income, especially because its in such high demand at the minute.

DressingGown87 · 02/05/2020 20:25

@60sPony Welcome and congratulations. Is your DS excited to be a big brother?

@FirstTimeBumps I love how strong McCoys salt and vinegar are! Might try hula hoops!

FirstTimeBumps · 02/05/2020 20:39

@DressingGown87 they do hoola hoops puft in salt and vinegar too. Not my cuppa but they do beef ones which are nice too. I think there's cheese ones but I may be making that up

Flora20 · 02/05/2020 20:50

Oh god I've really been craving salty crisps again today and now I've come on here to find you're all talking about them... Going to have to do another shopping order! Weird we all want salt...

It's been busy on here! Congrats on finding out the sex @roarfeckingroar - will make name choices easier!

And @DressingGown87 congrats to you on the business sale too!

I've pretty much finished buying for baby - so much easier the second time round! I've picked up a few more newborn nappies (we use reusables, it's far too easy to get tempted by cute patterns!) and a couple of babygrows. All second hand so don't have to feel too guilty seeing as we don't actually need anything!

Flora20 · 02/05/2020 20:52

Aargh why does MN change words in your post?! Makes a discussion of crisp flavours very confusing!

Mc3209 · 02/05/2020 21:00

I have a packet in the cupboard at the moment, which I am trying not to eat this evening as I've already polished off one huge one earlier on. Let's see, the evening is young...

Clalou83 · 02/05/2020 21:01

@Flora20 I'm very interested in the reusable nappies and if you don't mind could you share what you think, how many you need and does it work out cost effective in the end, as it does seem expensive and a lot of washing and drying. Anyone else use or have experience with these please share you thoughts x x

Flora20 · 02/05/2020 21:07

@Clalou83 It's probably the best parenting decision we made. You save so much money - the initial purchase can be expensive (but doesn't have to be - different brands, buying second hand, buying a couple here and there) but once you've bought them that's it, and you can always sell them on again. Disposables are cheap in newborn sizes but get more expensive as they get bigger, and you're literally throwing your money away! Washing is easy enough and I can guarantee you'll be doing a lot more washing with a baby anyway 🙂 Plus they look adorable! 100% recommend them x

Clalou83 · 02/05/2020 21:18

@Flora20 what do you recommend to start with? One brand I looked at were one size fits all and had loads of press stoods but I thought that maybe they would leak.

FirstTimeBumps · 02/05/2020 22:13

@Flora20, have you been using reusable since birth? We only started recently with my 16 month old and I don't know if it's because he has allergies, sorry tmi coming up, but when he goes poops it's just a mess. We're using littles and bloomz and I do want to get a stash in for when this one comes along but I can't cope with the liners just not catching poop like they're meant to.

Freddie1987 · 02/05/2020 22:14

Thanks for setting up the third thread, just catching up!

I'm glad there's some more supporters of reusables, been debating whether I am going to invest and I think I'm becoming and more and more keen.

@roarfeckingroar congrats on the boy news, so exciting!! I can totally sympathise on the way your partner is being, I'd feel completely the same. It's like men treat this like one big game for them sometimes while we, y'know, grow another human...

Is anyone else getting annoying restless legs in the evening? By about this time I am constantly uncomfortable and needing to stretch my legs, it's like they have a weird pulling sensation in them all the time. Very annoying!! Anyone got any ideas on what might help or what's causing it?

Flora20 · 03/05/2020 08:11

@Clalou83 I wouldn't recommend getting just one brand to be honest, all babies are different shapes and sizes so suit some more than others. Also one size/birth to potty sizes won't actually fit from birth unless you have a really chunky baby - we used them from about 8 weeks. Brands we use though are Baba and boo, little blooms/Alva and bamboozles... If you're on Instagram have a look at the honest to cloth account, there's some really useful info in there x

Flora20 · 03/05/2020 08:15

@FirstTimeBumps What sort of liners are you using? Fleece works best, paper/bamboo ones just seem to scrunch up.

@Freddie1987 They're great, do it! Also, I had restless legs last time, it's one of those pregnancy things... Fortunately mine just stopped one day!

Clalou83 · 03/05/2020 08:25

@Flora20 That's great thank you. Will definatley get me started. My partner is really for this too. My mum tried to talk me out of it but end of the day it's our decision and it just doesn't sit well not even trying. Many thanks x x

Clalou83 · 03/05/2020 08:31

@Flora20 Do you find you can use a nappy more than once on occasion and just change the liner?

DressingGown87 · 03/05/2020 08:39

@FirstTimeBumps thank you 😂 I’m not a crisps person, never have been. But salt and vinegar at the minute and blocks of cheese smothered in salad cream, are the only things I want 🙈

@Freddie1987 it may just be everything Stretching, pulling and growing. I’ve got itchy skin at night which makes me restless.

FirstTimeBumps · 03/05/2020 09:05

@dressingGown87 if it's got to be as and vinegar then it's got to be chopsticks.

@Flora20 we were using the biodegradable Bambino mioliners from Asda. Will have a look into some fleece ones Ty :)

Flora20 · 03/05/2020 09:19

@Clalou83 It depends what sort of nappy it is, if it's a wrap with separate inserts then you can if there's no poo on the wrap, but pocket and all in one nappies usually need changing every time. This article is helpful:

Mc3209 · 03/05/2020 09:30

Apologies for the naive question, do you need to scoop the poo out of the liner/nappy before throwing it in the washing machine?

OP posts:
Clalou83 · 03/05/2020 09:33

@Flora20 Many thanks again, much appreciated. X

Flora20 · 03/05/2020 09:55

@Mc3209 For breastfed babies up until weaning, no - everything goes in the machine and it all washes away. Once they start eating solids the poo goes in the toilet first. You deal with so much poo as a parent that it doesn't even register after a while 😂
