@SamK93 I don’t feel super sick but in my first trimester I started getting what turned out to be heartburn and that made me feel sick and wretch. Maybe try see if gaviscon helps at all? I have to take it before bed every night otherwise I feel sick myself

@UpsyDaisy1234 wow! What a surprise, how exciting. Congrats 🥳

So I’ve finally started researching products and I’m onto bottles and sterilisers. I’m hoping to breastfeed but OH has kindly volunteered to feed the baby every other night so I can get a full nights sleep (I’m a 8hr+ sleeper currently so we’re worried about how grumpy I’ll get haha). How many bottles do you think we should get and does anyone really use the steam sterilisers or is the in the sink jobs good enough?

DressingGown87 · 07/06/2020 18:53

@roarfeckingroar I honestly don’t know how they can exist! It’s cruel. And yes he had it at the start of our relationship, I had the job of nurse 🙄

@UpsyDaisy1234 it’s so exciting! You’ll have to keep us updated! Sounds like you’ve got double trouble 😂

Has anyone had their whooping cough jab? Did it utterly wipe the floor with you? She said I may get a headache and drowsy, but feel exhausted. Fell asleep on the floor sorting clothes, yesterday.

DressingGown87 · 07/06/2020 18:58

@SamK93 I’ve not had morning sickness. But I’ve heard it can creep in at any point, but more common in the first trimester. Bland food, ginger biscuits, water and rest. Hope your feeling better soon.

@DogCatDex it’s a minefield isn’t it. I’m unsure on how many bottles. I just got a set of TP, as they where on offer, but plan to get some extra. I don’t really know the difference, but I’m getting a steam sterilizer. I got told the MAM Easy Start Anti-Colic Self Sterilising Baby Bottles, are good. As you just unscrew the bottom, fill with water and they sterilize themselves in the microwave for 3 minutes. So I thought about getting some of these for out and about, at friends.

Mc3209 · 07/06/2020 20:15

@DressingGown87 yep, had my jab last Thursday. To say I was tired is an understatement. I am still half dead, but to be honest I haven't quite got back to normal pre pregnancy energy levels ever, so it's difficult to say what's what.
Oh and my arm hurt for 2 days afterwards.

got my scan tomorrow afternoon, nerves have kicked in today but very grateful not to have to do it alone. I find the understandable silence when the sonographer is checking everything a bit unnerving.

DressingGown87 · 07/06/2020 22:20

@Mc3209 yea that’s how I feel completely drained, and my arm hurts! I’ve been trying to sort out upstairs, which is a challenge on my own, and nobody can come round to help. So I didn’t know if I was just doing too much. Hope your feeling more alive soon too!

@1990shopefulftm scan nerves are normal. Glad your not going alone, good luck! Hope he/she is cooperative!

Freddie1987 · 07/06/2020 23:25

@1990shopefulftm sending you good vibes for tomorrow. I sort of zoned out as she was doing the measurements and staying quiet but she was sort of doing it in a brisk way tapping the mouse which made me feel at ease. So I hope it's the same for you! Excited to hear what you're having ☺️x

Elizag20 · 07/06/2020 23:44

@1990shopefulftm mine was lovely, she talked me through what she was checking and it was all done in 15ish minutes

FirstSurprise001 · 08/06/2020 06:52

Morning ladies,

Looking for your opinions on what to do. As I’ve put in here before, our little boy is constantly kicking and I can pretty much count on him being really active from 8pm onwards. Ever since my 20 week scan on Wednesday he’s slowed right down, I’m lucky if I get one kick or movement a day. I called the antenatal clinic on Saturday night as I was starting to get worried and they advised that as long as I’m feeling some movement a day, they’re content.

Well fast forward to last night, he’s still hardly moving (but I was very busy yesterday so may have missed it) but I was woken up at 12am to really painful cramps at the top of my bump just under my ribs. Then sickness, then.. well the other way.. and just generally feeling very hot and unwell. I’ve not slept great which has obviously resulted in me not feeling great this morning with still minor cramping and a headache, hotness.

Do I call the midwife and ask to be seen today or is it worth leaving it a little longer? I just have that unsteady feeling that somethings not right.. ☹️

Flora20 · 08/06/2020 07:46

@FirstSurprise001 I'd call today and say exactly what you've said here. My midwives have always made a big thing of gut instinct - if you're not happy, tell them. Re the movements, baby is still small enough that if it turns around and lies in a different place you are less likely to feel it - it's why they don't ask you to track movements until a few weeks down the line. The rest - have you had your whooping cough jab? That made me feel really rough last time round.

I'm sure everything's fine but for your peace of mind it's better to ring rather than worrying more today X

1990shopefulftm · 08/06/2020 07:52

@DressingGown87 @Freddie1987 @Elizag20 thank you all , I ll probably be fine when I get to the hospital since I won't be alone, it's just the waiting till then really.

@Firstsuprise001 call them today, just incase you have an infection that needs treating and so they can give you something that might help with the symptoms.

Sls668 · 08/06/2020 09:13

Has anybody had a minor bump injury? My dog jumped on my stomach yesterday (he’s a pug so only very small) and it really hurt. Ever since my bump has been really achey, it’s not a sharp pain, more like a dull muscle ache. I’ve text my midwife this morning to check and will call at lunch if she doesn’t respond. Google says not to panic unless there’s any sharp pain or bleeding as baby is very well cushioned but I’m just looking for some reassurance really

KitKatKit · 08/06/2020 09:18

@1990shopefulftm Good luck today!! Hope all is well xx

@Mc3209 and @DressingGown87 I have my jab today and had totally ignored the fact that there will be potential side effects (d'oh!). Not feeling so positive about it now haha 😁

@FirstSurprise001 I would definitely call them and get advice. Crossing my fingers its all ok for you Daffodil

DressingGown87 · 08/06/2020 09:33

@FirstSurprise001 I would give them a call if your worried, and just say what you’ve put on the post. Movements can be reduced and masks by position at this stage, but as your feeling unwell too, it’s best to get checked.

@kitkatkit Hopefully you won’t get any. I was ok on the day, but the day after I could have slept anywhere.

@Sls668 no I’ve not had any injury’s. I’ve been doing bits at home, and sometimes thing I’m moving / carrying / bending too much and get pains. They are well cushioned in there and protected, hopefully your midwife responds to your text, to give you some reassurance.

Flora20 · 08/06/2020 10:07

@KitKatKit You'll probably be fine, it seems a bit hit and miss! I reacted to mine the first time round (swollen arm and felt like I had the flu for a few days) but this time my arm just felt bruised. Just another of the delights of pregnancy 😂

KitKatKit · 08/06/2020 10:17

@DressingGown87 @Flora20 thanks both, sounds like yet another round of pregnancy roulette - "And how will my body react to this new thing...?!" 😂

Happy Monday to all, here's hoping we have a calm week!

WaveStreet · 08/06/2020 10:30

@1990shopefulftm sending you well wishes for todays, how lovely that your DH will be there too.

@FirstSurprise001 trust your gut feeling and hope you can get some advice today, hoping you feel better soon.

@Sls668 does it hurt just where your dog jumped? My dog bruised my leg jumping at me recently so hopefully it'll just be a little bruised if anything, as you say they are very well cushioned inside. I do get little aches and pains around my bump when i move sometimes.

It's so hard not to worry isn't it!

Glooorb · 08/06/2020 13:51

@Sls668 my dog jumped onto my bump maybe a month ago? It really hurt quite a bit at the time, but then it stopped after a couple of hours and so I didn't think anything of it. My dog is only small (7kg) and so while it was still quite a kick, I figured the bump is well protected against knocks. When I had my ultrasound, the sonographer was positively jamming the detector into my tummy and that seems like pretty standard practice so I figured a dog kick, once, will be fine.

Do you feel any more pain? Or does it feel like more "surface" bruising type of pain?

Sls668 · 08/06/2020 14:23

@DressingGown87 @Glooorb @WaveStreet thanks for your replies guys. My midwife rang back within minutes and suggested I rang MAC. They were also great (and so efficient!) and said it’s a really common question but should just be a muscular ache. She just said take paracetamol and use heat if needed. I was really impressed with the service from both my midwife and the maternity unit

WaveStreet · 08/06/2020 14:39

@Sls668 glad you got some reassurance 😊

FirstSurprise001 · 08/06/2020 14:50

@Flora20 @DressingGown87 @WaveStreet @KitKatKit and 1990shopefulftm (sorry it won’t let me tag you!) Thanks for your messages!

What a palava this morning has been. My midwife is on long term sick and the one I spoke to last is retired apparently so they were next to no help. Called straight through to the hospital assessment centre, asked me to come in straight away and they would put me in a private room on the labour ward.

Lots of tests which turn out to be a stomach bug, urine infection and possible strep B? (No idea what this was until she explained!) Been sleeping at home for the last 3 hours and just feel utterly rubbish 👎🏼

Flora20 · 08/06/2020 15:06

@FirstSurprise001 That's quite a combination, no wonder you're feeling rough! Really glad everything's ok with baby and that you've got treatment quickly. Hopefully lots of sleep will help!

WaveStreet · 08/06/2020 15:17

@FirstSurprise001 ohh you poor thing. Glad they got you thoroughly checked, get well soon

DressingGown87 · 08/06/2020 15:38

@Sls668 glad you had a positive experience and got answers / reassurance! Hope you, the baby and the pug are all ok!

@FirstSurprise001 glad you’ve got seen, and some answers. Hopefully lots of rest will help, and you start to feel better soon, you seem to have quite a combination, no wonder your feeling meh!

Strawberries4days · 08/06/2020 15:47

Omg I lost track of the days🙈 Thanks @DressingGown87 a few more people have told me more brands as well! I can't wait to get one and try it around the house😂 Hope you're ok❤️

@UpsyDaisy1234 omg what a shock! Congratulations! Beautiful surprise at 19 weeks!🥰

@FirstSurprise001jeezo hope you're ok! What a shame to get all that, glad that the baby is ok too❤️

We've started on the nursery, getting the walls papered and then going to get paint tomorrow. I think we're doing the room blue and pink but we'll see what we can find!

My clothes have finally arrived! I'm in love with my white dress cause there's no seams and can wear it throughout pregnancy 😁 I'm also living in baggy rompers and harem jumpsuits. I can't stand anything tight around the waist now and gave up on actual maternity clothes. Became really fussy, even though I'm not seeing anybody yet😂
