@DogCatDex No soreness or cracking (yet) but hopefully some moisturizer should help you out.

@EmmaA96 Hope your feeling better and the sickness has passed, and the bedroom is all finished. One thing I'm greatful for with lockdown, is that all these 'jobs' can get done before the baby!

@ZsaZsaMc Congratulations and welcome, I find some days I can eat enough, and other days I don't have an appetite. Just keep snacking!

@KitKatKit Aww congratulations another Boy on this thread. We at 2 or 3 healthy boys now? I find out in 5 sleeps!

roarfeckingroar · 05/05/2020 20:08

Yay congratulations @KitKatKit !!

Jaffas22 · 05/05/2020 20:08

@KitKatKit congratulations 💙💙 I’m so excited to find out, did you have any gut feelings? And if so was it right?

UpsyDaisy1234 · 05/05/2020 20:15

@KitKatKit Wow! Congratulations!!

EmmaA96 · 05/05/2020 20:22

Congrats @KitKatKit !! 💙

ZsaZsaMc · 05/05/2020 20:27

@KitKatKit - I think maybe two lunches will need to become the norm now!

Congratulations on the scan too. I’m 16+2 (due on 19th) so must be a day apart!

WaveStreet · 05/05/2020 20:31

@KitKatKit aw congrats on your boy 💙

I've been blaming lockdown boredom for my constant hunger today but maybe it's not purely that if we're all feeling the same!

Mc3209 · 05/05/2020 20:56

@KitKatKit congratulations on your boy! So far we have a collection of lads on this thread! 😂

@KitKatKit congratulations on the baby boy news! ☺️

I'm definitely eating like a horse, still can't get enough of the carbs and cheese- thought it would calm down after the first trimester but nope!

Is anyone watching the Life & Birth series, I struggle to get through one episode without tears. Although I have been reading the Positive Birth book which does make you view those programmes in a different way...

KitKatKit · 05/05/2020 21:15

Thank you all for your kind messages!

@ZsaZsaMc I'm also due on Oct 19th! Due date twins!

@DressingGown87 Woohoo, countdown is on til you find out then 😉

@Jaffas22 yes me and DH both thought it was a boy due to lots of boys on both sides of family, and we were right 😄

@Freddie1987 I haven't been watching, I think I'll freak myself out if I do!!

Mc3209 · 05/05/2020 22:07

@Freddie1987 I think I've seen pretty much every variation of the program - one born every minute, maternity ward (or something like that), 1 or 2 episodes of Life and Birth. Love those programs! And yes, I sob my heart out watching them 😂

Clalou83 · 05/05/2020 22:21

@Freddie1987 I watched the first episode of life and Birth as my mum told me to watch, I was traumatised by it. It was before I had even had my first scan I was sobbing. Said to my partner I can't do this again.

Flora20 · 06/05/2020 08:31

@KitKatKit Congratulations!

@Freddie1987 I've watched them but feel really conflicted by it - the two episodes so far have been so far from my experience, they've solidified my desire to never go near a hospital for birth! The only thing is that most of them so far have been higher risk in some way, so maybe not representative of the typical hospital birth? Hopefully the next episode will have some sightly more straightforward cases!

Mc3209 · 06/05/2020 08:35

I've decided I am going to put on make up today. Realised I haven't touched the stuff in weeks! This lockdown is turning me into a scruff.

DressingGown87 · 06/05/2020 09:17

@Freddie1987 I started watching it last night, but then freaked myself, and stopped. Might start again when I’m in a better mind frame.

I watched (Monday) a really horrible program on itv. It was only 15mins long, called lockdown (with bump), with Sheridan smith. Thought it would have been some documentary as she is pregnant. But no it was scripted, about being alone, not sharing the experience, worried about not bonding with the baby, how the dad isn’t around and he chose his girlfriend, and how she’s alone at home. Needless to say it hit home, and I was a wreck who should have turned it off. Very weird.

@mc3209 snap! Only every put it on my for my hospital appointments.

I’ve had lots of cramping, flutters, weird pains over the last 2 days. I’m hoping it’s nothing but stretching, but getting worked up. 16week appointment tomorrow.

Flora20 · 06/05/2020 09:30

@DressingGown87 I'm sure it's just stretching and growing, I've had the same the past few days as my bump has got bigger. It's good you've got your appointment tomorrow anyway for reassurance 🙂

1990shopefulftm · 06/05/2020 09:33

So the plasterer to do the nursery had to cancel as they're waiting on a covid test result for a relative they come into contact with, which is completely understandable.

More time to work through the list of things to get so when we can order it, I ll be fully prepared :)

@DressingGown87 that's not a pleasant documentary at all. I ve been watching positive birth stories on YouTube and trying to avoid anything negative. Hope your appointment goes well tommorow. Maybe it's just stretching and baby moving.

I m hoping the midwives won't mind me labouring with a bit of music on, I always hate silence if I m in pain so decided I d like that as part of the plan.

Freddie1987 · 06/05/2020 09:50

Wow @DressingGown87 that definitely sounds like it would hit home right now, think I will also avoid...

I can't recommend the Positive Birth book enough for the other FTMs, it really helps you view labour in a different way to the way the media does. Obviously, things might not go to plan, but it seems to be helping me approach labour with less fear either way!

sunbreak · 06/05/2020 10:46

@roarfeckingroar @KitKatKit congratulations! We have a private scan booked in for the 18th as my hubby couldn't come to the 12th or won't be able to come to the 20th week Evans due to covid restrictions. So we found this private clinic which allows one person from your household. I'm really excited for him to see it as I still don't think it's real for him (tbh isn't that real for me yet either!).
He has already started looking at car seats so he can get his head around what we need etc. We decided to get a park second hand as we think that we'll only use a sling in the beginning and the peak will be for the grandparents and great grandparents to use 😊 Can't really buy anything at the moment as we're only on my salary as he quit his job in Jan to start a business, which we did but had to temporary close and now it's only running to a very small capacity and costs us money in rent, utilities etc... so baby stuff (at least the large ones) will be bought later in the year 😊

FirstTimeBumps · 06/05/2020 11:40

@ZsaZsaMc I'm the complete opposite and very jealous. I have no appetite come dinner time. I've taken to having a huge lunch whilst I can tolerate getting food down myself and then just force feed myself a little dinner, but jacket potatoes sound like a good plan for dinners.

Congratulations to everyone who's found out if they're having a boy or a girl. I'm still undecided. I honestly think come my 20 week scan I'll end up secretly finding out because I can't stand the anticipation of I'm given the option and if my OH isn't there then I'll just be like yes please. But I'll get the sonographer to write it down and put it in an envelope in case he does want to find out. I had a dream the other day we were having a girl (not of the actual baby because that would be too normal, no, I was doing a gender reveal with a ball pit but the balls had eyeball patterns on and all of them were green apart from one which had a pink iris 🤣). I had a dream we were having a boy last time and just had a gut feeling right the way through and it was correct so we shall see.

Loving the Life and Birth series. It's actually one of the things that's put me into the idea of a VBAC.

Jaffas22 · 06/05/2020 12:53

@Freddie1987 sorry just catching up with the thread. I’ve also been watching the birthing programmes, I can watch them however it’s made me worry about how DP is going to cope, he found it more difficult to watch than me! .. I hope he’s not one of them guys who pass out 😂

SamK93 · 06/05/2020 13:35

Hi hope everyone's doing okay! Congratulations @KitKatKit on the baby boy 💙

@Jaffas22 I think the ones that seem like it will be difficult for them are always the ones who can surprise you! I think when partners see you going through the pain etc they forget about everything else and just concentrate on making sure your ok!

Also I've seen a few of you mention a 16 week midwife appointment, I haven't had a midwife appointment since my initial booking one and the next appointment is booked for June 5th I'll be 19 weeks then, do you think that's my 16week check?

1990shopefulftm · 06/05/2020 14:08

@Samk93 perhaps their combining appointments is your scan after that? If I have a 16 week one it ll be over the phone next week but they ve no contacted me so might not go ahead.

SamK93 · 06/05/2020 14:40

@1990shopefulftm they booked my 20wk scan when I went for the 12 week scan it's not until the 18th June. At my booking appointment I remember her saying okay so I'll next see you in June now and then booked the 5th. So who knows lol
Maybe they'll contact you the day or two before to let you know what's happening

1990shopefulftm · 06/05/2020 14:47

@SamK93 oh my 16 week one should be on Monday, I m not going to chase them for it as I can check my blood pressure at home. Seems like it is a 16 week appointment for you, just a bit late.
