New to this forum so hope this is in the right place! So, I have just done a home pregnancy test and it’s definitely positive. I’m now full of a real mixture of emotions! Firstly, I am delighted! Me and my husband have been trying to conceive since November so this is something we are both delighted and excited about. However, due to the current health climate I also feel really worried and nervous! I was so excited to be able to share this experience with my mum and mother-in-law but due to them both being in high at risk groups, they are both now self isolating for 12 weeks and I guess this means I feel quite alone in it all in terms of female support. This is my first baby and so I have no clue.

I am a teacher and currently am expected to be in school at times but my understanding is that only people in their 3rd trimester need to be concerned.

In terms of the next step, do I just call the doctors as usual or have thing altered due to COVID-19?

Thanks in advance for your help 😊

Hi Everyone. Hope you all dont mind me joining in. Have read all the posts on the thread and its made me feel so comforting to know I'm not alone.

I'm nearly 40 (old granny) and am not 8 +8 with an Ivf baby Smile had a mc 2017 and 1 failed ivf cycle.

All symptoms I did have seemed to have disappeared apart from slight sickly feeling.. more like hunger pangs and some shocking pains this morning (which I'm hoping is just gas lol sorry- tmi)

Xxx

@MrsM0 I'm in a similar position. My symptoms seem to have cooled off a fair bit. Lessened (almost nonexistent) nausea, boobs aren't sore anymore. The only thing, is that my appetite has diminished a little. I'm 8 weeks today and I'm unsure as to what's "OK".
I've had no spotting or bleeding, nor any worrying pains etc. So it just feels a little odd for symptoms I've had for the last 5 weeks or so, to dissipate.

MrsM0 · 13/04/2020 23:03

@MrsERWor I've read up and apparently this can happen when your body gets used to the levels and the baby starts getting its nutrients from the placenta. I still cant quite believe this is acutally happening. I've had 2 bad headaches today and used to these before a period so my mind is working overtime 🙄.
Sorry my last post said 8+8.. clearly not right I'm 8+ 3.
Have you had a scan? Xx

MrsERWor · 14/04/2020 11:18

@MrsM0 fingers crossed that's all it is. It feels weird without the symptoms, as they were keeping my mind at rest that everything is still ok (despite how crap I felt). This is my first pregnancy, and so I've never experienced any complications - I literally don't know what to expect.

Hopefully it's as you say, just my body acclimatising to pregnancy!

No scan yet! First scan booked for 13th May, so a while to wait yet.

What about you? X

MrsM0 · 14/04/2020 12:09

@MrsERWor I know exactly how you feel having slight symptoms was very reassuring. I seek to be willing this year away. I have no children but remember when I had MC I had had no symptoms the entire time. We only found out at the scan at 12 weeks so I'm so nervous.

Weve been lucky to had a scan done at 7 weeks and all was ok then but I had symptoms then.

I've had my midwife appointment where they took blood wee and BMI but have no date for 12 week scan. The quicker it gets here the better. Xx

@MrsR87 Hi, congrats Smile
Make sure you talk to your head, I’m a teacher too and currently 13+6, I had told my head early due to needing to go to the EPU but I, along with another pregnancy staff member was sent home when the announcement came about pregnant women - I was only 9 weeks at the time, the schools were still open and I have since not been included on the rota and won’t be until June - the 12 weeks after the initial announcement.
In terms of your GP, you probably just need to go online and self refer to your local midwife service, as far as I’m aware booking appointments are still face to face, subsequent ones are on the phone at the moment.

@MrsM0 @MrsERWor I wouldn't be concerned that you aren't having symptoms I'd definitely embrace it.
I've been in bed for 2 days with horrendous sickness and can't keep anything down so I envy you both.
Changes will be happening that you aren't even aware of as you have nothing to compare to.
I go for my scan next Thursday and it can't come quick enough, I just pray for a day when I can feel slightly human 🤞🏼
It's all very exciting xxx

MrsERWor · 16/04/2020 18:45

@MrsM0 @LRHR just a little update. It seems I had nothing to worry about. My symptoms came back in full force yesterday and are still here today!
Also, silly to have worried... I'm 8+3 today and can already see my bump growing nicely - it's undeniable really! 😊

MrsM0 · 16/04/2020 21:16

@MrsERWor that's great news. I still have very faint symptoms. 9weeks tomorrow and have recieved my scan date 12th May. Fingers crossed x

@LRHR hope you feel better soon.

LRHR · 17/04/2020 07:07

@MrsERWor glad you're mind is at ease now.
Unfortunately I'm still throwing up at every chance I get, morning, evening, middle of the night it just rears it's ugly head when it feels like it.
I just keep telling myself it won't last forever xxx

MrsERWor · 17/04/2020 07:37

@MrsM0 oh that's great news! My scan is due the very next day after yours! Can't wait.

@LRHR Ohh noo!!! That must be grim! Hopefully it eases soon and gives you a break!

LadyParsnip · 26/04/2020 08:04

@MrsM0 CONGRATULATIONS!!! Must be so amazing after so much heartache xxx

I've had my 12 week scan and all was well. I have private scan in 3 weeks to find out gender. The reason I've gone for private is because my partner works at sea and they will allow him to be video called from the scan room!

Most amazing thing was telling my 7 year old son. He nearly cried he was so happy. Both mums cried and everyone is so thrilled for us. It's my partner's first time being a dad and he will be sensational as a father! So happy! Xx

MrsM0 · 26/04/2020 15:16

@LadyParsnip Thank you. Still doesn't seem real and I am so anxious for the 12 week scan. Just trying to keep myself busy so the days so quicker.

Glad your scan went well and that's great that the private scan offers the video. I have been contemplating booking a private scan but have stopped myself so far.

Some good and happy news for the family during this lockdown. My husband is the same he cant wait to be a Dad xx

MrsR87 · 27/04/2020 18:14

Hi all

Just a little update from me. I had my first midwife appointment on Friday and had my first scan today. I had a little cry...it was such a bittersweet moment to see my baby for the first time but to be doing it without my husband when we have been planning this for so long! Baby was very wiggly and moving a lot but I got to see arms, legs and it even looked like it was waving when it first came on screen! Baby measures 48mm at the moment and I am apparently 11 and 4 days pregnant. It feels really real now I have seen it. I am hoping to find a place that does private scans that still allows partners in. I really want hubby to experience it too! 😍

@MrsR87 that's amazing that you've seen baby but sad about hubby.
I go for another scan in a couple of weeks and gutted my husband can't come xx
