New to this forum so hope this is in the right place! So, I have just done a home pregnancy test and it’s definitely positive. I’m now full of a real mixture of emotions! Firstly, I am delighted! Me and my husband have been trying to conceive since November so this is something we are both delighted and excited about. However, due to the current health climate I also feel really worried and nervous! I was so excited to be able to share this experience with my mum and mother-in-law but due to them both being in high at risk groups, they are both now self isolating for 12 weeks and I guess this means I feel quite alone in it all in terms of female support. This is my first baby and so I have no clue.

I am a teacher and currently am expected to be in school at times but my understanding is that only people in their 3rd trimester need to be concerned.

In terms of the next step, do I just call the doctors as usual or have thing altered due to COVID-19?

Thanks in advance for your help 😊

Relaxin has a lot of the blame! I started eating more dense foods to combat nausea but that caused some constipation so I ate more fruits which I should never ever do so it was just completely out of balance. Ended up getting checked through 111 who confirmed it was my IBS and nothing to do with pregnancy. I had been taking extra iron for tiredness which I stopped as they were really making me sick!

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 20:53

I’m hoping that it will calm down soon. Glad that 111 put your mind at ease. Have you got your midwife appointment booked? When did your tiredness and nausea start? x

Pineappletree33 · 22/03/2020 20:53

Hi can I join?
Planned pregnancy following a mc on Boxing Day at 11.5 weeks. Need to definitely confirm the pregnancy, I did do a test last Sunday with a faint positive but feel I need to do another but almost don’t want to confirm it.

I can’t believe 2/3 weeks ago when I would have ovulated the country was so different.

Feel awful for voicing this but have considered a termination due to the current situation but can’t bring myself to do it with a much wanted baby. Just so worried.
Baby number 2 for me.

Pineappletree33 · 22/03/2020 20:54

Oh and I’m about 4.5 weeks so very very early.

Pinkhan135 · 22/03/2020 21:31

Just had a BFP today too. Think I'm around the 4 week mark. I'm a nurse and work closely with patients as well as being a type 1 diabetic and asthmatic so very anxious! Will inform my manager tomorrow and go from there xx

M0nst3ra · 22/03/2020 22:26

@Pineappletree33 I considered it too, but like yourself, this was ultimately a wanted pregnancy and I just couldn’t make that call. Don’t feel bad for airing it though, I’m sure it’s something which ran through everyone’s minds.

There are definitely positives to isolating during the first weeks anyway, so trying to look on the bright side!

(I also think there will be a massive baby boom following the weeks of isolation anyway!)

I found out I was pregnant yesterday. It's an IVF baby after many years of infertility
and a miscarriage 18 months ago which devastated me. I am quite terrified though. I'm 36 going on 37 so my age is against me.

I'm worried about going out and getting food, I'm worried about my partner getting ill going out to get things for me, I'm worried about not getting enough medication, I'm worried about getting ill and miscarrying along with my general fear of miscarrying. I need to try and keep calm and just carry on. I'm off work as my in-laws who live with us are over 70 and vulnerable due to health conditions so that's one positive.

I feel like this is going to go on for a very long time and how do we and those around us stay well?!

Addler · 23/03/2020 06:08

Can I join? Found out yesterday, which was nice as it was Mother's Day I guess!

First baby, 28, last period was 18/2 so my app is telling me I'm 6 weeks today but the clear blue I took yesterday says 1-2 so would put me at 3-4? Not sure when I ovulated. Weirdly I did two FRER tests a couple of days ago, the first was in the afternoon with well hydrated urine and it was a faint positive and then the next day I tested again with FMU and it was completely negative, not sure how that works!

My symptoms so far have been really pointy nipples, first thing DP noticed, needing to pee a lot and being quite hungry!

I've done the online self referral form for my local midwife service

Pineappletree33 · 23/03/2020 06:12

M0nst3ra glad I’m not the only one to have considered it.
I’m such a what if person, what if xxx because of covid but what if xxx because I’d had a termination. I can’t win! The most recent guidelines re covid/pregnancy reassured me a bit more than they had been.

Congratulations pink sounds like you’ve been through a huge amount to be at this point. It’s easier said than done, I know. But try and take things a day at a time.

peachypetite · 23/03/2020 06:13

I went to bed early last night because I keep waking up early. I’m also starving!

1987Nic · 23/03/2020 07:29

@Addler Congratulations, my last period was the 17th of Feb, I’m sure that makes me at 5 weeks today and you just a day ahead. I ovulated on the 4th March. It’s such an exciting time, I’ve got to ring the doctors again today to try and book in with midwife as when I rang on Friday they weren’t having any appointments in the surgery due to the Coronavirus.

1987Nic · 23/03/2020 07:30

@peachypetite I’ve been up since 6.30 again, would have came in handy if I was actually not off work for the next 11 weeks.Shock

peachypetite · 23/03/2020 07:31

Hi all what are you using to calculate number of weeks? I’m getting diffeeent results from nhs and flo!

peachypetite · 23/03/2020 07:33

@1987Nic I know! I’m wfh but had actually booked today off weeks ago because I was meant to be away for the weekend. I decided to keep the day of leave anyway though. I only found out yesterday so it’s nice having today to myself. I still can’t really believe I am pregnant. My boobs are killing me and I am waking up starving whereas usually I won’t eat my breakfast until I’ve commutes to work.

1987Nic · 23/03/2020 07:37

Use the day to have a much earned rest. I’d like to tell you that the early mornings stop but I’ve known I was pregnant since last Tuesday and every day I’ve been awake early lol. My nipples also like an early morning ha. I used the pampers and the first response website to find out how many weeks I was.

Addler · 23/03/2020 07:54

Oh I've just done the nhs one and it says 4 weeks, due 24/11. So no idea why Flo says I'm 6! Anyone have a better app?

peachypetite · 23/03/2020 07:57

I wonder if it’s because flo bases on historic data?

1987Nic · 23/03/2020 08:04

I’ve got the Ovia pregnancy app, I also used that for tracking ovulation etc.

Why1stheskyblu3 · 23/03/2020 08:14

Glad to see this thread here. Just got a bfp this morning and don't know how to feel with everything going on!

Montyb123 · 23/03/2020 09:31

@1987Nic hi yes this is my first child. My work are not advising us to stay home or anything. New guidance is you are ok in a patient faving role up to 28 weeks!
It's a scary time for us all!

peachypetite · 23/03/2020 10:41

Does anyone else have a very dry mouth?

Pinktruffle · 23/03/2020 11:16

@peachypetite yes! Especially in the morning. I've been trying to keep hydrated during the day and have been drinking water. As soon as I got to bed, i get a dry mouth and keep waking up thirsty. Then struggle to wee in the morning (sorry if that's TMI) and hardly anything come out. Baby must be sucking up the water.

peachypetite · 23/03/2020 11:23

I keep brushing my teeth and drinking water but can’t get rid.

avocado2019 · 23/03/2020 11:41

Hi, @Pinktruffle need a bit of hand-holding here... my BFP is also after IVF/ICSI treatment this month. My conception day/EC day is 4th Mar. I totally share your anxiety. I had also a miscarriage before so I think I have an obsession of wanting to test my HCG all the time to see if it's on the line. I actually have decided to go get a HCG blood tomorrow. when is your first scan I presume it's around 6 weeks? And yes of course I'd concern over should I or shouldn't I visit the clinic due to the virus situation, and I do find myself wanting to keep a distance with my partner as he still goes to his office (although he runs a small business and he now only have one other colleague sharing the office). so much uncertainty but i keep my finger crossed for things going well. I'm here if you wanna share worries ;)

Mlou32 · 23/03/2020 11:54

Congratulations to all the mummies to be! I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I'm worried about what the current situation means for us in terms of not only the risk of contracting coronavirus but what impact it will have on maternity appointments etc.

They say that there isn't much of a heightened risk to pregnant mothers based on data from SARS, MERS etc however in reality, they just do not know. It's all very well comparing it to similar viruses but there just isn't any data on women who have gotten coronavirus in their first trimester and subsequently given birth, as the virus hasn't been around long enough for that data to be collated.

I'm sure it will all be fine but it is still a bit of a worry. I'm also a nurse so had to inform my employer on Friday. I'm awaiting a phone call to do a maternity risk assessment and we'll see if I can continue working or not.
