New to this forum so hope this is in the right place! So, I have just done a home pregnancy test and it’s definitely positive. I’m now full of a real mixture of emotions! Firstly, I am delighted! Me and my husband have been trying to conceive since November so this is something we are both delighted and excited about. However, due to the current health climate I also feel really worried and nervous! I was so excited to be able to share this experience with my mum and mother-in-law but due to them both being in high at risk groups, they are both now self isolating for 12 weeks and I guess this means I feel quite alone in it all in terms of female support. This is my first baby and so I have no clue.

I am a teacher and currently am expected to be in school at times but my understanding is that only people in their 3rd trimester need to be concerned.

In terms of the next step, do I just call the doctors as usual or have thing altered due to COVID-19?

Thanks in advance for your help 😊

@MrsR87 My last period started on 17th Feb and I ovulated on the 4th March.

MrsR87 · 21/03/2020 23:22

@1987Nic I never got as far as doing an ovulation test...thought we’d see if nature took its course first but my app (lol) reckons I ovulated on 22nd February

Haha nature did definitely work for you. Looks like you might be a little further on than me going by the first day of your period. Smile I went straight in on the first month using ovulation tests lol.

LorennaS · 21/03/2020 23:32

@MrsERWor to be honest I haven’t felt anything! If anything it’s almost a lack of symptoms compared to what I usually get before my period where my boobs are so painful for a week beforehand and I always get extremely emotional. I’ve had a couple of spots when my skin is usually very clear, chapped lips which I only found out today can be a symptom and earlier today a few twinges/cramps but again, so mild compared to my period cramps which usually have me in bed crying for at least a day. However it’s only first day of missed period so sure more fun stuff will come along! I still can’t believe it’s real. I did two tests though (different brands) and both positive this morn so seems unlikely I’d get double false reads?

MrsERWor · 21/03/2020 23:37

I did the same, but got two BFP's! False negatives are slightly more common (but still quite rare), but false positives aren't! Smile
Lots to take in and think about and ironically Knocked Up is on ITV tonight. Haha!

Just found out...
1987Nic · 21/03/2020 23:40

I wouldn’t imagine you would get false positives either. I did tests on day 12 dpo, 14dpo and 16dpo ha. Ha I’ve just turned the channel over and noticed Knocked up was on too.

Hi all,

Following this thread as I also found out I was pregnant on Thursday (a few days after the crazy announcements/panic)! We came off contraception in January with the plan of seeing how things went naturally and here we are! This will be our first.

I immediately booked a midwife appt in though the earliest I could get is a couple of weeks from now. I think I am around 6 weeks pregnant judging by calculators but could be a week out either way.

Had a wobble and lengthy discussions this weekend over whether it’s a good idea to go for this in the middle of a pandemic, but we’ve decided to do just that! I know that things will be scary over the next month or so, but I also have faith that things will have improved or we will at least have more of a handle on it by the time we’re due. We may have to accept a slightly different journey over the next nine months, but we can do it!

Stay safe and follow the guidelines ladies - it’s been great to find others in the same boat xxx

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 13:23

Congratulations Smile. It’s definitely going to be possibly harder but definitely trust that the nhs will do their best. Lovely to know we all have very close due dates. Have you told anyone that you are pregnant? X

M0nst3ra · 22/03/2020 13:51

No not yet, I’ve been working from home since last week and my family are all self isolating anyway so with it being such early days I thought I would wait until I’m a bit further along - it’s a lot easier to keep it quiet in these early days when everyone is isolating ironically! (Though understand with some jobs it makes sense to tell an employer from an isolation perspective right now).

Just want to get the ball rolling with my first appt so I can have a bit more peace of mind (as it’s my first I don’t really know what to expect). This site is brilliant for info though.

Smile

How is everyone else feeling?

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 14:08

We’ve told our parents and unfortunately had to tell my employer but it was definitely what I needed to do to keep myself safe. It’s my first baby too, I’ve got to ring the doctors again on Monday to see when I can book in with the midwife at the surgery. I’m also going to book a private scan for around 8 weeks time. Have you been experiencing any early symptoms?

M0nst3ra · 22/03/2020 15:19

Yes, mainly feeling exhausted! Have had some pretty spicy period type pains too, but in researching it on here it seems fairly normal and is to do with the uterus/ligaments all stretching and moving (can’t help but worry though!) will keep an eye on it.
General loss of appetite and feeling only slightly nauseous from time to time.
Nothing else so far though, how about you?

MrsR87 · 22/03/2020 15:22

The only person who knows is my husband. Both my mum and his mum are in the high at risk group and so are self isolating for the next twelve weeks. I really don’t want to tell them over the phone so I will see if I can hold on until I can see them in person. I am not going to tell my employer until I have seen the nurse/midwife.

I think I might have to tell a mummy friend though as I feel alone in the process x

Congrats OP!

It's not that people in 3rd trimester need to be concerned, it's that the only data available are about women who were pregnant when contracted COVID and gave birts in 3rd trimester. The other groups- there is no data available because no one gave birth yet, so that will come in the following months when ladies in 2nd and 1st trimester will give birth. Even the data available does not tell us much...

I would book your first appointment (usually you can self-refer via hospital or GP) as you'd do usually and they will tell you what to do, you may not see anyone until 10 or so weeks, that's how our trust works at least.

There is a lovely app called MUSH when you can connect with other expecting (and existing :)) mums, that may be an idea to connect with others in times when we isolate...

Hello everyone

Can I join? I just found out on Friday and I think I am 4+6. I've tested every morning so far 🙈 I had to tell my employer as I am front line NHS staff.
It's a relief reading your posts as I am feeling the same, tired and a few niggle pains.
I am not sure what to do next but think I'll call the GP tomorrow morning as see if I can refer to midwife.
While going through TTC it seemed like it took ages when your in that bubble but looking back it is only 16 weeks since I had my implant out.

peachypetite · 22/03/2020 19:08

Hi all! Would love to join. I got my positive this morning. I’ve told immediate family but only because I need people to be extra careful around me. Luckily I’m already wfh. My GP is shut for corona but the hospital nearest to me offers self referral anyway so I’ve just filled in the form online. I have tender boobs and the last few days have felt weird twinges on both sides.

CurlyMummy1912 · 22/03/2020 19:18

Hello all! I'm 7.5 weeks today. Strange time to be pregnant but I'm thankfully able to work from home which makes coping with nausea and finding clothes A LOT less stressful. I look SO pregnant already as it's made my IBS flare up so much. I can't stomach the antenatal vitamins as they make me sooo queasy so eating well and still taking folic acid.

Hope you're all okay xxx

Elsie2211 · 22/03/2020 19:30

Hi Ladies

Can I join? I found at yesterday I am pregnant (4weeks 5 days). I will be calling the doctors tomorrow to secure a midwife appointment. I have been working from home for a week and a half, I have been social distancing but not self isolating. I am really excited about the pregnancy and trying not to let Coronavirus take the spotlight.

E x

@M0nst3ra I had also had some period type pains just before I found out I was pregnant and felt really sick. I’ve been waking up super early and have been bloating quite a lot too. I don’t feel tired at all but that could be because I’m off work.

peachypetite · 22/03/2020 20:30

I’m tired!!! Does anyone know which week the first appointment is?

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 20:31

@MrsR87 I’m desperate to tell my best friend but I’ll wait until we’ve at least had the early scan. Would be nice if things started to improve at the time of our 12 weeks scans so we could definitely tell everyone face to face.

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 20:36

@Montyb123 Congratulations, I think I’m 5 weeks tomorrow so very close. Are you having your first child? What are work able to do to help with you being pregnant?

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 20:38

@peachypetite Congratulations, do you know how far along you are? I’m sure I’ve read the appointment is usually around 8-10 weeks.

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 20:41

@CurlyMummy1912 Congratulations, I’m intolerant to wheat and dairy, even though I’ve cut it out of my diet I often suffer from bloating. My stomach actually looks months pregnant tonight so I have been reading all about bloating in early pregnancy and starting to understand why.

1987Nic · 22/03/2020 20:43

@Elsie2211 Congratulations, I’m 5 weeks tomorrow. I’m super excited but trying not to get too carried away. After lots of tears over this Coronavirus I’m trying to find some positives of being off work in the first 12 weeks.
