Thanks everyone I really reccomend trying the Freya app for when your in labour. I had it via earphones and it kept me very calm x

Slinkyreptile · 09/10/2019 14:38

@frizzy1986 sorry to hear your having a hard time of it with the chest pains etc. Just keep getting plenty of orson snuggles to keep your mind occupied. Enjoy that gorgeous newborn smell while it lasts 🥰🥰

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy Congrats at last!!! ❤️ Glad to hear it went so smoothly for you, you sound in a much better place but just remember if you start to feel down to speak out about it

@Figuringitout she’s beautiful 💕 do you have a name yet? Sorry if I’ve missed it

@HJWT sorry but lie ins are a thing of the past, at least for the foreseeable future Grin

Slinkyreptile · 09/10/2019 14:41

@SC0508 it seems cruel to only give you paracetamol but you will be glad of it when it comes to having your options open during labour 😊

HJWT · 09/10/2019 14:41

@Slinkyreptile Iv not really had a proper lie in since 2016 so nothing new 😂😴 xx

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy congrats! Seems like we have a new baby joining us every day in this group :) must be so lovely to have your newborns!!
I'm trying to get as much rest as possible before mine decides to make an appearance as I know that it will be quite tough to have a rest when baby is here!

Figuringitout · 09/10/2019 15:05

@Slinkyreptile - she’s called Ada.

HJWT · 09/10/2019 15:54

We are officially baby ready! Sleepyhead came yesterday, carseat & base is in the car, swing all set up and new sofa came (free replacement from DFS) so ready to be induced and get on with life, I just want to be able to walk round and go shopping 😬 keep getting emotional about leaving DD so just want it done with now!x

@Frizzy1986 what was the lady called you got the cakes of I am craving cake 🥰

Slinkyreptile · 09/10/2019 16:22

@HJWT I have replaced lie ins with shameless afternoon naps 😂 I used to do it when DD was asleep, now with a newborn in the mix I need to try and coordinate naps but it isn’t impossible! Is this your second baby? I see you mention DD but not sure if you had any older children. If so, second time round is a million times easier both delivery and recovery I’ve found although I know there will be exceptions

@Figuringitout apologies, I did see that. Love that name! When DD was born ‘ava’ was extremely popular then peaky blinders appeared and Ada shot through the roof lol. Not going to lie, we were tempted to call Finley ‘arthur’ at one point 😁 peaky blinders fan or did you just like the name?

Figuringitout · 09/10/2019 16:28

I am a PB fan, but Ada is named after her great Aunt. My eldest daughter is named after her great Grandma so the two sisters have carried the names forward.

Slinkyreptile · 09/10/2019 16:42

@figuringitout aww what a lovely idea Smile sorry to mention about PB, I bet you will get fed up of people making that assumption when you had ada’s name planned all along.

Straight after Finley was born, a lady my mum works with went to work the following day and announced her grandson was also born and called Finley with the exact same spelling. Both of them didn’t know what the others grandchild was going to be called until that moment lol

HJWT · 09/10/2019 16:47

@Slinkyreptile Yeah she has just turned 3 beginning of September, she currently doesn't want a baby 😬😂

Congratulations @Em39ma @Figuringitout and @ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy! Gorgeous babies all! Hope I haven't missed anyone else.

Frizzy1986 · 09/10/2019 17:14

@HJWT so glad you found it. I was having a little nap whilst Orson snoozed next to the window. I'm determined to get rid of this jaundice. Wouldve hated you missing out! They look soooo good.

I agree with @slinkyreptile a little that delivery and recovery have been easier in some ways.

I think delivery this time was pretty much the same as last time but faster. I must have coped better though as I had gas and air for the last 50 mins last time and had nothing at all this time.

Recovery on the whole has seemed better in that my tear area has been less sore than last time, but I have had the chest issue and my pelvic floor is worse (I think, as I can't remember last time). I'm pretty sure I'm trying to tense the right muscle but if I'm doing a wee, the clench has no impact whatsoever. I'm hoping that's just because it's early days and if I keep doing the exercises, by the time I get to 4-6 weeks I'll have control.
I'm still reliving the birth to be honest and reminding myself that I made the right choice with a natural delivery even though I'm slightly panicked about long term damage. For me a CS is never an easy option even though it would've saved the tear.

Em39ma · 09/10/2019 17:14

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy
Congratulations, there coming quickly now.
We have just got home, puppy is rather excited that we are home.
Very interested in Isobel, so trying to keep calm and let her smell her.
Feeding is real agony at the moment, my boobs look like 2 blood blisters😭

Positivity86 · 09/10/2019 17:23

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy many congratulations! Love seeing all these new babies arrive 🥰

Frizzy1986 · 09/10/2019 17:44

@Em39ma has your milk come in yet? Mine came in around day 3. Your boobs turn into boulders as your body tries to work out what baby wants so that changes things.
If you are finding it painful, see if you have any local feeding support. We have Families and Babies here (FAB) which is a group of mums who provide support and guidance.
I breastfed last time, but I'm going to get one of them round this time to help check the latch is good and some support with alternative feeding positions. They come to your house and are really lovely.
Essentially breastfeeding shouldn't hurt past the first few sucks each feed.

Em39ma · 09/10/2019 18:04

@Frizzy1986 , yes my milk came in this morning. I have rather large boobs anyway, now they are huge and rock hard. We have a breastfeeding team too. Can go on Monday and Fridays.

Slinkyreptile · 09/10/2019 19:07

@Frizzy1986 try not to worry too much about pelvic floor. With my first I was genuinely convinced I had a prolapse because it felt like everything was going to just fall out and the stitches were stopping me from doing my exercises but as you say... after 4-6 weeks it gradually got much better Smile

@HJWT haha they are comical at that age! I bet she will fall in love with her baby regardless of what she thinks just now. Those cakes look sooooo good

@em39ma my sympathies for the rock hard boobs, I’m not bf so for myself it’s a matter of waiting for it to disappear on its own. Good luck with your bf journey

cattaxi · 09/10/2019 20:31

Evening! I’m so tired today! All I’ve done is eat, sleep & watch tv! I feel good for it though. Anything more strenuous is so uncomfortable. My heartburn is much better - I think sitting still helps with that too!

@HJWT I think this baby demands food too! He kicks like crazy when I’m hungry.
Yay for being baby ready. We are pretty much there too.
Those cakes look awesome.

Glad you are home safe @em39ma. My boobs were like boulders when my milk came in! Not comfortable.

She is gorgeous @Figuringitout. All these baby photos are making me desperate to see our like dude.

Huge congratulations @Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy! So glad it went quickly and smoothly for you. You can sack the psychic now!

@Frizzy1986 - glad you got to the gp. Hopefully it’s just your iron. They upped my iron supplements and my breathlessness is finally getting better.

That sounds painful @SC0508. I hope it gets better soon.

I’m with you on the getting as much rest as possible @secretlyhermione. we need to conserve our energy.

Hope everyone else is ok? I get quite excited to long on now and see if there is any baby news!

Sw2102 · 09/10/2019 21:29

Huge congratulations to all of you who have had your lovely babies! Its been so long since I've been on as my husband has been away for work and between DD and sleeping I feel like I haven't had a moment to catch up! Im 39+3 now and no signs, think I will go over like I did with DD. So interesting reading some of your birth stories, I too am scared to tear again this time around because I got an infection last time and it felt like I would never be better at the time though obviously that wasn't the case in the end. Hoping for better this time around though. Hope you are feeling ok @Frizzy1986, your story gives me some reassurance that even if it happens again it will be alright. Im sure there is more I should be saying, think I need to go back and read everything I've missed again!

Frizzy1986 · 09/10/2019 21:46

@sw2102 Ive had a very different experience than last time in that although surgery and a night in hospital sucked, the staff were so much better than last time and I felt more confident as a mum so just got on with stuff.
I'm not as sore at all (got an inflatable ring but haven't even used it)
My main issues this time have been the "baby blues" hitting and as I have prior anxiety and depression issues I've not really coped as well as I could have. I managed to shower, go to the gp, go to the shop, wash up and put washing on today though so that's a win.

Sw2102 · 09/10/2019 21:52

@frizzy1986 That's amazing that you have achieved all that today considering you are only a few days PP and looking after a newborn. And I'm super impressed how mobile you must be even with the tear to go to the shops! I swear I couldn't walk for 3 weeks last time. I just shuffled from sofa to bed. Really hope the baby blues dont last long.. how old is Orson? It must be prime milk coming in time and all the hormones rushing around like crazy.. remember that phase well too first time around! Hope people are looking after you well in real life Flowers

Frizzy1986 · 09/10/2019 22:39

@sw2102 he is 8 days old today. Milk started to come in on day 3 but is still temperamental so lots of over filled and uncomfortable moments!!
I'm up and about a lot earlier than last time too and midwife was really happy how it was healing as well. Another big tear wasn't what I wanted at all, but it hasnt been as unpleasant as I feared.
Dh is looking after me as much as he can as the blues have been tough. Hopefully I'll be coming out the other side in a few days. It's just me and him really as my family live far away and his aren't really "baby" people. Plus his dad currently has shingles so they are staying away.
