Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

Hey everyone. I took 5 positive tests last week and have predicted I’m 6 weeks pregnant, some websites giving me 30 Nov EDD and some saying 1 Dec. My first appointment isn’t until the end of April. Last week I felt sick constantly and bloated and this week I’m absolutely fine no symptoms at all other than a bit sore boobs. I can’t help but worry why my symptoms have just gone?? Is anybody else the same? I want to do a pregnancy test every day until my midwife appointment/first scan but I sound mad!! I want all the sickness to come back x

Lorna2019 · 04/04/2019 21:16

@FlorenceAlice Mine was 3rd March. X

FlorenceAlice · 04/04/2019 21:16

@MindyMoonstone I know! That’s what I thought but my app says 6+2??!! Oh well as long as everything is happy and healthy - hopefully the Midwife can shed some light?!

Bumpingalong84 · 04/04/2019 21:33

@FlorenceAlice have you tried the nhs website one it’s good and pretty accurate I think. Congratulations btw.

@bobble53 I think that’s normal, my sister in law had more symptoms the first two weeks then all settled after 6 weeks other than sore boobs and hunger. All is fine and she’s over 30wks now.

Lorna2019 · 04/04/2019 21:57

@bobble53 Congratulations!!! A girl I work with had absolutely no symptoms. She thought she'd taken a dodgy test. She's 15 weeks now and all is healthy. Someone else I know had zero symptoms and she is due in July. Try not to worry. X

Maizie83 · 05/04/2019 00:12

@Bumpingalong84 @1990carey due 2nd December too, last period on 25/02. No nausea or cramps today, which is unsettling. I've never willed sickness or discomfort on myself so much!

1990carey · 05/04/2019 01:46

@Bumpingalong84 @Maize83 yay due date buddy's! Yep my last period was 25th as well! Hahaha yah I keep getting tempted to do more tests because I'm worried I'm not actually pregnant, but I keep reminding myself that I'm still not on my period and I have had 3 positive tests! Lol it's funny how were all wanting the things we know were gonna hate!!! But I suppose if were but I suppose we should count our selves lucky we've had an easy ride so far. Although apparently a lot of it really kicks in at week 6, so we should have it all to come very soon?

Fuscialuscia · 05/04/2019 07:46

Hi everyone- I have recently found out I am pregnant and due 8th December. This will be our first so I have no idea what to expect and feeling quite anxious too. I get twinges mainly on my right side which come and go and my boobs are slightly tender but not as much as others in this thread seem to be. I’ve got very small boobs anyway so I’ll be amazed if they ever get huge! Been waking up at 3 for a wee then struggling to sleep. Was tired last week but seem to be fine and lively this week. In all I don’t have a catalogue of symptoms but I think I’ll make the most of that as it sounds like there’s a heck of a lot to come!! It still doesn’t feel real.. it’s our first attempt at trying so I didn’t expect it to happen this quickly so I keep taking tests haha

Ells0204 · 05/04/2019 09:09

@1990carey @Bumpingalong84 @Maize83 my lmp was 25th Feb too so EDD 2nd Dec! I typically don’t ovulate on CD14 though so I think when it comes to the proper dating then I might be a day or two later than that. We already have a Dec 2nd bday in OH’s family too 🙈

Omg @mindymoonstone a “glacial pace” I knew I had heard that saying somewhere before 😂

Time IS going so slow though! I was googling last night when do you start to show in your first pregnancy...looks like I have a loooong way to go!!

So far I have no morning sickness but hoping it’s just too early (yes I went morning sickness!)

I might post this query on a new thread but for now wondering if any of you can help? Last night I began to get shooting pains in my lady parts. Yes as in actually UP inside my vagina. Almost like someone is poking a sharp object up there more specifically to the left side. I feel like it’s too early to be any sort of “growing pain” because I only turned 5 weeks this week! Has anyone else had the same?

Ells0204 · 05/04/2019 09:11

I meant I *want morning sickness!

MindyMoonstone · 05/04/2019 10:08

Hi @ells0204 not like me to spy a movie quote either 😂
it’s definitely not too early for growing pains! Our bodies are doing all sorts of strange stretching and prep. My lower tummy has been rock solid since about 4+5 and I have cramps often which I put down to growing stretching etc.

Can’t say I’ve had shooting pains up my V yet 😂 but I have had that randomly in the past when not pregnant so maybe just one of those random things?

Ells0204 · 05/04/2019 10:15

@MindyMoonstone yes it’s not very pleasant I must say! I posted it as a new topic but no replies yet...it’s disappeared today but I have had some quite crampy cramps this morning. God it’s so hard not to notice everything and fixate! I wish I could hibernate for the next 7 weeks. I will definitely have an early scan (or two) this time because of my complications in the past. Luckily my local hospital have a walk in early pregnancy unit where you don’t have to be referred. I’m thinking of going at around 7 weeks 🤞🏼

Lorna2019 · 05/04/2019 10:19

@Fuscialuscia Congratulations! That's is my EDD too. My first time trying as well. Got my midwife booked just after I'm 7 weeks. I have taken 3 tests this week alone, all BFP! X

Fuscialuscia · 05/04/2019 10:34

Congrats! When I rang my GP initially the receptionist turned me away and said I didn’t need to even see my GP until I was 10 weeks.. so glad I rang back and spoke to someone else as they said I definitely did need to. I didn’t realise you could have your appointment with the midwife as early as that? Would be great to not have to wait for so long!

MrsS7 · 05/04/2019 11:08

I'm probably telling my parents and twin sister tomorrow... I'm so excited but worried it's too early. How do you all feel about telling people (close family) at this stage?
I would wait a bit longer but my sister is going away for 2 weeks on Sunday, and I will be seeing other siblings in the meantime who I probably won't see again until summer, so I want to tell them face to face before then. As she is my twin I want her to be the first to know!

Also I would tell them all if anything went wrong anyway, and just feel like it would be nice to be able to talk to them (especially my Mum) about it all. Just looking for a bit of reassurance that I'm not crazy for breaking the news this early really :)

MindyMoonstone · 05/04/2019 11:28

Hi MrsS7 I told my family straight away just because I want to share the experience with them and have people to talk to, I say tell when you’re ready and if that’s now, good for you!

Ells I feel you on the hibernation!!!! Let us know what they say on your post 😂

Anyone else struggling with hormones? I have far too much to do at work and some was just very abrupt on the phone and it made me cry 😢 I feel so weak I’d much rather tell her to do one but now I’m in the toilets blubbing instead of getting through the mountains of crap I have to do! Sad

MrsS7 · 05/04/2019 11:32

@MindyMoonstone thanks, I do think I'm ready so can't wait to have more people to share the experience with now.
Sorry to hear you're struggling, this exact thing happened to me last week (before I knew I was pregnant) and I was thinking 'what's the matter with me?!', so you're not the only one feeling the hormones. I'm crying at the drop of a hat! Just remember you're not weak at all, it's just your body doing some very important work!

ENDWITS · 05/04/2019 12:18

Congratulations to all you ladies! Very pleased for you all.

I got my BFP yesterday at 12dpo! The positive line was BARELY there. After months of TTC, squinting at test after test, looking for lines I knew deep down weren't there, I for sure saw one yesterday and I am thrilled. Grin

Symptoms wise, I got minor dull cramps 4,5,6,7dpo (i don't usually cramp until the afternoon of AF having arrived). Slight thrush 6,7,8dpo Lumps behind my nips, 10 second waves of nausea all day from 8dpo, cystic acne something extreme all over my chin 11dpo. Needing a wee 27/4, even though only a dribble would come out every time. Cravings for cheese sandwiches and cereal (i don't do carbs or dairy usually). I also had really weird dreams where I cheated on my husband! Multiple dreams with multiple men LOL HmmShock

My husband doesn't want to book a viability scan because we were informed of a possible MM on Xmas eve '18 at 8 weeks. Confirmed at 12 weeks. I don't understand his logic... surely if that were to happen (again in my case) you would want to know at 6 weeks if you could.... not 12!!

Is a heart beat detectable at 6 or 7 weeks? Not sure what week to book.

xxxxxx

Lorna2019 · 05/04/2019 12:37

@MindyMoonstone YES! I am having such a bad day. I have to work with someone who I can't stand, they are unreasonable, uninformed and a nightmare to work with. I already started crying and had to call my OH. He had to step out at work to try and calm me down. Realistically nothing has really happened except this person is frustrating. I was like "what's wrong with me?!"

I've chosen not to tell anyone because I want to make sure everything is ok. There are pros and cons to this decision as I can only rely on my OH and when we are miles apart, he feels helpless. X

Bumpingalong84 · 05/04/2019 12:50

@MindyMoonstone I’m completely with you on the old hormone front. I am so emotional at the moment, I have so little patience and feel like I’m really snappy with my 3yr old Sad making me feel pants. But I have to remind myself it’ll pass.

I feel like it’s such a taboo to talk about pregnancy and having to hide it, I understand it but I don’t understand not telling your nearest and dearest when you’d want their support if something bad happened.

WildFlower2019 · 05/04/2019 13:06

Tentatively joining if that's ok ladies?

Got a BFP on a frer at 10dpo.

I am 13dpo now and AF is due today or tomorrow. Depending which app you believe! So FX AF stays away!!!!

Normally, I get a bit of spotting for a couple of days beforehand and thankfully I've had nothing so far!

If everything goes well, I'll be due mid December!

Maizie83 · 05/04/2019 13:14

@MrsS7 I'd say tell the people you're close to when it feels right. We had all sorts of notions of waiting until the 8 week scan to tell our families. Then on Mothers Day we looked at each other and said "f*k it!" and Skyped our parents immediately. I think for us it was about telling people we'd want to share good/ bad stuff with. If the worst was to happen, we'd need support. Other reasons - we also just wanted to stay in a more positive zone and I really wanted to ask my mum a lot of questions about her pregnancies.

@ells0204 I had weird cramps in my cervix too! Not hugely painful but did get them. I just thought there must be a lot of stuff going on in there, which would result in little twinges here and there.

@mindymoonstone "glacial pace" it's hilarious I probably did hear that from Devil Wears Prada and loved the expression! Forgot all about that movie! Ha.

The hormonal stuff is really hard to deal with at this early stage, when it's still under wraps to most people. Sorry to hear that some of you are struggling with that. I've also wanted to punch a few colleagues for being a bit short with me. Sometimes you just want to scream "I'M PREGNANT FFS BACK OFF!" but I've just started at my job so maybe not.... Smile

Maizie83 · 05/04/2019 13:19

Congrats @WildFlower2019! Welcome to the thread.

MindyMoonstone · 05/04/2019 14:33

Thanks for all the support ladies it’s great being able to talk to you and go through it with others!!

@Maizie83 it’s a cracking phrase may add it to my day to day vocab! Yes I feel a lot like saying stop putting so much extra pressure on me when my body is busy doing amazing things!!! 😂 or I could opt for “do one!”

Bumparound · 05/04/2019 14:53

Sorry to hear some of you ladies are struggling with the hormones too, but also kinda relieved it’s not just me that’s on the verge of punching colleague’s in the face! I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a crier anyway (angry/sad/happy/hungry...I’ll cry) but I’ve been in a whole different league the last few days! Poor OH and dog are totally bewildered!

Also, @ENDWITS, I’m with you on the cheese sandwiches! I had cheese on toast two days in a row and I’d have had it again just now if I hadn’t already finished the packet Blush.

Also finding I’ve got a really sensitive sense of smell - someone’s aftershave in the office made me gip yesterday and that never usually bothers me, and I could smell my colleague with an orange down the hall...any other superpowers that we’ll be getting soon that I should be aware of?!?

Interesting to hear how everyone is dealing with telling friends/family too. I’m dying to tell my mum and close friends but OH wants us to wait a bit longer. MIL can be quite negative (and blunt) and he said he’s worried she’ll freak out that we’ve told people before we’ve had a scan then stress us (me) out. I totally get it as we’ve had close friends lose babies early on, and I don’t want to jinx anything either, but also reeeeally want to tell my mum!!
