Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

Due 8th December! Got my bfp last Friday, only tested as planning to drink the next day! I have a 17 month old, and it took 9 months to conceive him. So we started trying for no 2 as early as we're thought feasible... pregnant first time!! I was so shocked when I got that positive test, wasn't really looking at it! So so different to last time. Slight queasiness but no other symptoms which is fine as had absolutely nothing last time. Loved being pregnant before so looking forward to it again, but unlike last time, I no longer have blind faith it will be ok! Early scan booked for 8 weeks had one at 7 weeks last time and it was magical.

Oh I just want to tell everyone, not least my mum! Got a big bro t shirt for ds 1, she will fall over when she's sees it. Hope I can use it!

Congratulations everyone, here's to a healthy, speedy few weeks! X

Bumpingalong84 · 02/04/2019 20:26

Aww congratulations @Pleasehelpimfreakingout so pleased it happened quickly for you.
I was so lucky and fell pregnant second time with my DD and second month trying this time, so never had the anxiety of months of trying. Can’t imagine what that must be like.

I can feel the hints of queasiness kicking in and it’s making me anxious for what’s to come bahhh! I felt awful wks 6-16 last time so wonder what this pregnancy will hold. My DD was 4wks early so might be looking at a November bubbs.

1990carey · 02/04/2019 20:37

Hey guys!!! I got my BFP last week as well! Due 2nd of December if dates work out right! So so so excited but so nervous!!!
I told my mum at the weekend, it was her mothers day prezzy, she's wanted grandchildren for so long, so she was super happy!
This is my first ever pregnancy so I'm super nervous and new to everything lol
Got my first midwife appointment on the 16th! So looking forward to it all!
So far apart from back back ache, period like cramps in the first few days, sore boobs and a very heightened sense of smell (not always a good thing!) I dont seem to be getting off to badly so far lol! Oh and has anyone else been struggling with sleep? I keep waking up at 4am and cant get back to sleep!!!!
It's so nice to talk to other people in the same sort of stage!
Hows everyone else doing?

Lorna2019 · 02/04/2019 20:44

Congratulations to everyone new! I'm so glad that there are other people who are as excited as I am for their morning wee, morning sickness and counting down the days to May so we can all relax a bit and tell everyone we know - including the bus driver, the window cleaner and the person behind you in the queue at Tesco.

A girl I work with today told me she was pregnant and she said 'Are you still thinking of having a baby? Wouldn't it be funny if you were pregnant?!' - literally dying to show the pictures of my BFP.
She told me the midwife messed her referral up for the dating scan so she paid for a private scan which gave her better stats than the combined 12 week NHS scan as well as gender reveal. I want that scan. And I want an early scan, have seen some where you can go 6 weeks+

Would love to hear anyone else's experience of the scan and what's involved.

Bumparound · 02/04/2019 21:26

Hi everyone, congratulations to you all! I’m another newbie - took my test last Thursday and I’m apparently 5wks tomorrow so due date of 4th December! This is our first and happened a lot quicker than we’d expected so still feeling a bit overwhelmed!

Other than heavy boobs my hips are really achy and I’ve had really weird crackling/popping/pressure in my ears the last couple of mornings (is that even a pregnancy thing?!). Absolutely shattered too!

I wondered if anyone has any tips for disguising the lack of drinking early on? My friends have had planned a ‘big night out’ for ages and we’ve got family staying over for Easter - all within the next few weeks, so way before our 12th week. To put it simply, I’ve always been one to like a glass of wine or two, and think it’s going to be mega obvious if I start saying ‘no’ all of a sudden. Other than lying about antibiotics I can’t see how it’s not going to be obvious if I’m not drinking?! This weekend my husband and I managed swaps with non alcoholic Prosecco when no one was looking, but that was at home. Any tips for out in public will be much appreciated as I really don’t want to feel ‘outed’ before we’re ready to tell anyone!

Winterbaby2019 · 02/04/2019 21:28

Omg OMG

I got my BFP last Thursday and I’m too 5 weeks today....super excited congrats all and wish you all a healthy winter baby

Xx

Maizie83 · 02/04/2019 21:38

Hi ladies. First off, congratulations to all of you. Wishing you all healthy, happy, anxiety-free pregnancies!

Relieved to hear some of you are having the same symptoms. @MindyMoonstone me too re: boobs! Lol! Cleavage at last.

Not feeling especially fatigued, but I've had persistent cramps on the right side of my pelvis/ uterus all day on and off. I'm a bit worried about them. Getting waaaay ahead of myself and then forgetting I'm only at 5 weeks. It's a roller coaster! Obsessively POASing as well. Still coming up nice and strong, but binging on forums.

Roll on the 8 week scan. SHITTING myself about it.

My best friend (who has two kids) warned me not to google every symptom as I'll drive myself mad (easier said than done). But I guess it's good advice. I think the hardest thing is having no control over the outcome. Anyway best of luck to you all! Nice to be able to chat with women in the same spot in their pregnancy! :)

Bumpingalong84 · 02/04/2019 21:41

Congratulations ladies Smile such an exciting time ahead.

@Bumparound I actually went up to order drinks and got tonic water and lime minus the gin. Worked a treat as the one time I ordered a virgin cocktail I had suspicious looks when someone asked to try it and said it didn’t taste very strong 🙈 everyone knows what a g&t taste like so they aren’t so fussed! Otherwise getting the OH to drink it for you 🤣

MindyMoonstone · 02/04/2019 21:55

Congrats everyone! Wishing happy healthy pregnancies for us all. Flowers

I’m so pleased to see so many other first pregnancies in here! It’s lovely to have people in the same boat to talk to 😁

@1990carey, I have been waking up at 4am every morning too, for my new 4am pee for the last week and a half haha!!!

@bumparound I am a regular for Friday drinks after work and am struggling not to arouse suspicion too. I have told anyone that asks that I am on antibiotics for 8 weeks 😂 for gastritis (which everyone knows I’ve got so that helps). You can also have long courses for rashes so maybe that could be your cover story? It’s kept most questions at bay but one or two people always know better Blush

Other things I’ve done is strategically book days off or lie about going out with other friends so I can’t go out with them ... queue chinese, a movie and an early night 🤣

@maizie83 can’t wait to go up a few cup sizes haha the extra weight in them already at 6 weeks has me fascinated!!!

Bumparound · 02/04/2019 22:32

@Bumpingalong84 haha I had actually been googling mocktail menus at the bars around where we’re going out so maybe I’ll avoid those!! A G&T lookilikey is a good call! Already briefed the OH that he’s going to be drinking for two these next few weeks 😂

@MindyMoonstone ooh antibiotics for a rash is a good idea too - that’s bound to kill any further questions 😂 especially when the eagle eyed mother in law comes to stay!

Thanks ladies! Really glad to have people to speak to who are in the same boat - it’s so hard not being able to tell everyone yet! x

Melonise · 02/04/2019 22:55

Hi Everyone! I got my BFP today. I'm a first timer too. AF was 4ish days late. Kept telling myself I was imagining it but couldn't keep that up much longer! My app says 5 weeks but NHS says 4 weeks. 1st day of last AF was 1 March so I think my app is wrong some how Confused. Should be due 8 December?!

We weren't really planning to be pregnant for another couple of months but can't exactly call it miraculous! Very happy and equally apprehensive. I'd only just started preconception vitamins so much for starting them 3 months before! Blush

The December antenatal thread is up too 350+ posts and I feel like I've missed the boat already, so glad to see this thread Grin.

Symptoms are achey boobs (also HUGE!) and odd little twinges throughout the day, gone as quick as they come. DM had no sickness either time so crossing my fingers I don't either!

javaqueen · 03/04/2019 00:58

Hi everyone, pleased to find this thread! Congratulations to everyone! I'm a second timer due around 9th December. Excited but worried about handling a toddler at the same time given I was pretty tired towards the end of the first pregnancy and my age (41). Trying to eat well & rest and take each day as it comes. Wondering too how soon to tell everyone!

IoMoon · 03/04/2019 07:59

Hi everyone, can I join the party? I’m due with our first on the 6th of December. Took quite a few months to fall pregnant so really happy it’s finally happening!

Also getting the usual symptoms- very mild cramps, boobs are huge and heavy, starting to feel a bit queasy, but also cannot stop eating everything in sight - the pms symptom that just continued for an extra week and a bit!

MrsS7 · 03/04/2019 08:43

Just had a bit of a panic on my way to work! Last night and this morning I just felt really normal again, like all my symptoms had gone, so I stopped off on the way to work to buy a couple of pregnancy tests. Took one in the shop toilet and really started panicking as it came up negative, but it turned out that the test hadn’t worked.
I was worrying like crazy the whole half hour drive to work, but just took another test and it was a very strong positive. Soooo relieved but just wish I could stop worrying so much- almost wishing for stronger symptoms to arrive as a bit of reassurance!

MindyMoonstone · 03/04/2019 08:45

Welcome all of you and congratulations!! Flowers

@melonise you would be 4 weeks and 5 days if AF was 1st March, what app are you using?

@bumparound good luck with the MIL they ALWAYS know 😂

Hi @loMoon that’s exactly the symptoms I’ve had too but the hunger went off just after 5 weeks. Queue tiredness this week!!!

MindyMoonstone · 03/04/2019 08:51

@MrsS7 that must have been so scary! Only advice I can give is to stop POAS!! It becaomes obsessive lol. Glad you still see a BFP!

I understand how you feel, except for my boobs a lot of the time I just don’t “feel” pregnant. Especially when the girls in the November group all seem to be suffering with sickness and I’m just ticking along happy as Larry 😂

I pray it’s a sign of a smooth pregnancy rather than a problem. Not everyone gets mega symptoms, remember some people don’t find out they’re pregnant until they are months in!

MrsS7 · 03/04/2019 08:57

Thank you @MindyMoonstone, it's nice to know I'm not alone in feeling anxious! This is the first time since confirming the pregnancy that I've felt the need to POAS so I will definitely take your advice so I don't get obsessed!
I'm a worrier in general and I'm sure it's very natural in your first pregnancy, so I will try to have a bit more patience and faith from now on :)

Bumpingalong84 · 03/04/2019 08:59

Congrats to all the newbies.

@MrsS7 I know exactly what you mean, I almost want more symptoms just to feel better about it all. Tho I am having some queasiness today. Also big full slightly sore boobs.

Slightly paranoid today as took another digital and it said 2-3 weeks. Will feel better when that says 3+ 😩

WannabeCountryBumpkin · 03/04/2019 10:53

@MrsS7
Thats how we felt! - If you just cant wait then you can opt for a private scan, we had ours at 4 weeks (£65) and are getting another free one at 7 weeks cause we didn't see much! But she was able to rule out ectopic pregnancy :)

MrsS7 · 03/04/2019 10:57

Thanks @WannabeCountryBumpkin, that is in my mind and I did mention it to my husband last night but I think he thinks I’m being a bit paranoid! If I still feel really worried over the next couple of weeks I’ll revisit the idea for my peace of mind :)

MindyMoonstone · 03/04/2019 11:11

@bumpingalong please don’t do any more clear blue digital tests.... some women who go on to have happy healthy pregnancies never get past the 2-3 mark on those tests. I don’t know much about it but there’s lots of articles and mumsnet posts about them causing unnecessary worry. I did one at 1-2 and another 2-3 but refuse to do another as I don’t want to upset myself.

@MrsS7 it’s just so hard not to isn’t it. I haven’t done hardly any work the past 3 weeks been too obsessed with my little one and how I am feeling, googling everything etc. Also a natural worrier so I sympathise!!

Lorna2019 · 03/04/2019 12:43

@WannabeCountryBumpkin Ooh! Where did you go? I think I want one. I'm desperate to get past 6 weeks and go for one. Didn't know you could go at 4!

Andersonx3 · 03/04/2019 13:14

Hi all,

I found out last Monday that I am expecting and due December 4th! My husband and I had been TTC since January and are very surprised it happened so soon but very happy.

So far not feeling too pregnant - sore boobs (prompted me to test), nausea and a little hormonal but that's all!

What is everyone else feeling at around 5 weeks?

Lorna2019 · 03/04/2019 13:44

@Andersonx3 I am 5 weeks on Sunday. Sore boobs, cramps that come and go, I feel queasy rather and don't really feel like eating.

Congratulations! It happened quite quickly for us to my OH is shocked it happened so quick. What's your EDD?

Lorna2019 · 03/04/2019 13:44

@Andersonx3 - Ooh! 4th, sorry! I'm 6th or 8th depending on what site I look at.
