Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

@Sianii oh that sounds gd I'll defo ask my midwife about that app. Got my appointment this week 😬

I've had to tell my work as my booking in appointment is on a work day. Originally at 11am but changed it to 10am. I called to change it and they actually said why do u need to change it 🙄 FFS I shouldn't need a reason. Said I work an hour away and by the time I got to work after the appointment I'd have had more than a half day! She looked and said they cldnt offer anything late afternoon and the earliest appointment they had was 10am. So it's still going to be practically a half day off work 🤷🏻‍♀️ oh well lol.

mum2DDB · 09/05/2019 10:13

Went for a private scan the other day, just for reassurance more than anything- great experience and showed I was further along than I thought @december2018 we’re not due buddies anymore 😩.
Just wanted to ask you ladies opinions on anti sickness medication? My doctor has prescribed me some as I’ve been having bad nausea and vomiting but hubby and mum are making me feel bad if I take them but I’m really struggling right now and don’t know what to do 😔

EmeraldRubyShark · 09/05/2019 10:20

Why are your mum and partner trying to make you feel bad for taking medication? That’s really weird and sad and doesn’t sound like they have your best interests at heart :( if the sickness is bothering you and the doc has given you something safe to ease it why wouldn’t you!?

mum2DDB · 09/05/2019 10:35

@EmeraldRubyShark they seem to want me to do the ‘natural’ things; as in take ginger, mint tea blah blah blah, (which I have tried btw and it’s not worked). They don’t want anything to harm the baby, although I’ve explained my doctor would not have prescribed if they weren’t safe 😤

EmeraldRubyShark · 09/05/2019 10:56

Just ignore them, good practice for the future when you have your baby and your mum thinks she knows best and buts in about how you’re doing it all wrong and need to do it her way instead! Take the pills and practice saying ‘thanks for your thoughts but my doctor and I have already made a decision’ and repeat as necessary.

IHD83 · 09/05/2019 11:25

@December2018 All good so far, but didn’t have any more appointments since the first one with the midwife. I have the 12 week scan at the end of May.
Btw, I am exactly 2 weeks ahead of you as I am 10 weeks today 🤣 (unless the scan says something different)
Sickness symptoms are getting better, I hope they don’t come back...

December2019 · 09/05/2019 12:28

@IHD83 it's going fast already isn't it, urgh the sickness is lingering around me still haha although I don't feel as exhausted today
... I don't know wether you feel the same but I seem think I'm being judged because my little one is only 4 months old... like I told my friend I'm pregnant and she said "ohh again" I feel like she was looking down her nose at me a bit haha! It's not like I've had 15 kids one after another 😂... unless I'm just being really sensitive 🤭

mum2DDB · 09/05/2019 12:39

@EmeraldRubyShark, at least you emphasise with me. I’ll definitely take your advice on board!..let’s pray this nausea and vomiting goes soon X

IHD83 · 09/05/2019 13:56

@December2018 I told two friends only and they were surprised at the beginning but they have been quite nice and told me not to worry, we will be fine.
I haven’t told the rest of my friends neither my family, and I am not sure how they will take the news...
I am also thinking how I would look when my belly is already noticeable and carrying another baby with me...😰 But we shouldn’t care about what others think, and even if my family has a hard time assuming it, I hope they will be happy at some point. I might be overthinking...maybe they will be happy from the beginning anyway 🤷‍♀️
I hope your sickness goes away soon and good luck with the appointment 😉

@mum2DDB It is you who is pregnant and it is you who is having the baby, so don’t listen to them. You are doing your best to take care of yourself and the baby and anything that helps to ease any symptoms which has clearance from the doctor, go for it. Being pregnant and being a mum is hard work, so no one is on his right to judge us. I suffered from bad heart burn in the last trimestre of my last pregnancy and nothing stopped me from taking medicine that could help with it, as long as was safe.

EmeraldRubyShark · 09/05/2019 14:00

mum2DDB if it makes you feel any better I live with a doctor and he’s always encouraging me to take sickness meds if I need to 😂 I’ve chosen not to so far as it hasn’t been too extreme or unpleasant and I quite like being aware of where I’m at with the nausea as I know it’s a good sign the pregnancy is progressing normally and of high HCG levels, but if I felt terrible I’d take them.

mum2DDB · 09/05/2019 17:50

@IHD83 you’re right! I think I’m just gonna take one and see if they work or on the day the nausea and sickness is unbearable- with their hesitation it’s making me feel like I’m a failure for giving in so early..just want this first trimester to be done ( only 3 and a half weeks to go!! 😐)
Also in terms in telling family, your advice is great, you should be happy and not care what anyone thinks, plus their family, they’ll eventually come round and be happy with your blessing.. so let’s take our advices and think about ourselves and our babies! X

mum2DDB · 09/05/2019 17:55

@EmeraldRubyShark 😂 how fortunate are you eh?! Must be nice living with a doctor. My GP is great and very supportive and I know he’s looking out for me so, I’ll monitor the nausea and vomiting, if it’s too much I’ll take them.
How far along are you?

gwenneh · 09/05/2019 19:32

I.
Am.
So.
Tired.

It feels the same way as when my thyroid is out of balance, just grinding awful exhaustion. My thyroid is fine, they did the bloods on Tuesday along with my (also perfectly normal for 6 weeks) beta.

I still don’t have my scan results yet and I’m getting a little upset. I’d like to mentally prepare either way but being in limbo is killing me!

Dec19baby · 09/05/2019 20:08

@gwenneh I feel your pain about being tired =(

I just gave in and booked a private early scan for 2 weeks time. Can't wait until the first nhs one, I'll explode with stress by then! Also had to tell my boss today due to things at work, nearly burst into tears doing it, but he was incredibly nice so that was something!

gwenneh · 09/05/2019 20:16

Got scan results.

Either I ovulated a lot later than expected or I'm out. The report showed no yolk sac or fetal pole (which would make sense if I am 5+ but not so much if I am 6+, which is where I assumed I'd be.)

Going to see if I can get another early scan as I wasn't impressed with the first one, otherwise they're going to make me wait for next week and I don't think my anxiety can handle that.

EmeraldRubyShark · 09/05/2019 21:19

mum2DBB I’m 7+5 I reckon, based on dates and scans :) haha it’s not actually ideal living with a doctor, he thinks he knows everything because of his job even when I raise things after doing plenty of research from recent reputable sources, we’ve had a fair few fights when I’ve broight an issue up and he’s told me I’m wrong and I’ve told him I’m not and shown him the NHS site and NICE guidelines! Not to be a smart ass but just cos I’d like to have a discussion about things as we go along as partners and lovers and parents rather than patient and doctor. To be fair to him he has never worked properly in obs and gynae, only a short placement and what he learned at university so I don’t expect him to know everything but it’d be nice for him to acknowledge he doesn’t know everything 😂

Aww gwenneh for what it’s worth I think the reason you’re expected to wait a while until the next scan is to give things chance to develop if they’re going to, so you don’t go for another in a few days and find not much has changed when it probably wouldn’t have been expected to, but it’s emotional torture. I was off with my dates by about a week, turns out even if you’re sure when you ovulated it can take varying lengths of time to implant, it’s quite easy to think you’re six weeks and actually be five for example. I went at what I thought was 5+5 and saw just the sac and yolk and backdated myself a few days. Things can change a lot in these early days.

I think the only thing that concerns me is that you didn’t see the yolk, did they give you much info about whether they’d have expected to see it by the time of your scan/size of the sac?

I suppose with an empty sac if it’s another week they might consider a ‘blighted ovum’ (awful term) diagnosis, but you must be frantic not knowing. I’m really sorry you didn’t get the outcome from the scan you expected. How come they scanned you so early?

Shelbybear · 11/05/2019 12:35

It's all gone a bit quiet ladies. We must surely be due some scan pictures to be posted soon! Anyone got a scan soon?

I had booking in this week. Was surprised that I will be on the Red path. Assumed it would be green but as I had high blood pressure towards end of my last pregnancy and an emcs then it's red 🤷🏻‍♀️ need to see consultant at 16 weeks and 34 weeks. I've to take aspirin daily too from 12 weeks.

Dec19baby · 11/05/2019 15:23

I've been feeling very anxious last few days so trying to stay off forums and the like.. got our pre-booking appointment on Monday, hoping we'll get our scan appointment then as well. But we've went ahead and booked a private scan for 2 weeks, coz I just can't wait to see if there's anything there.. just too anxious! Think I'm overthinking everything..

Albanyriver · 11/05/2019 19:12

I had an early scan this week at 8+2....dates match up but have a small subchorionic haematoma. Not much I can do but wait and hope it doesn’t get bigger!

bobble53 · 11/05/2019 20:25

Anybody else struggling to wee?! My bladder feels SO full but I only have the smallest wee when I go. It’s driving me mad!

SurvivingCBeebies · 13/05/2019 09:48

@Enwi could you please add me to the fb group?

bobble53 · 13/05/2019 09:55

I’m 11+1 and have absolutely no bump at all. Anybody the same?

I have my 12 week scan next week and feel so anxious, I’m working myself up being silly. Has anybody else felt like this? X

Dec19baby · 13/05/2019 10:14

@bobble53 I think that feeling is very much normal around here. I'm 8+2 and I'm petrified something is wrong. Have worked myself up as well a lot recently. That's why we booked a private scan early coz I just can't wait until 12 weeks Confused Time is agony now, just goes way too slow for my liking now!

Dec19baby · 13/05/2019 10:15

Oh and I thought it was actually normal for no bump to be seen in first trimester? When people announce it after their scan I've never been able to see any bump at all.

MrsS7 · 13/05/2019 11:01

@bobble53 for first babies I've been told that it's normal to not start showing until maybe 15 weeks onwards, but obviously everyone is different! I'm 10+6 and no hint of a bump (other than the pre-existing food baby haha).
I also have my 12 week scan next week and feel anxious about it, but just trying to take it one day at a time and keep as positive as I can. Try to remember the odds are in your favour!
