Hi @CowBrow and everyone, thought I would start a new thread since the old one has filled up and I can't find another! If there is one and I've missed it, let me know Smile how's everyone doing?

In the mornings my stomach is reasonably flat, by the evening I look like I'm already 7 months pregnant it's so bloated!! (I'm 5+4)
Good luck to all the teachers going back to school tomorrow, I feel anxious having to get back into a routine and feeling like shit, also to have to lie about the whole thing but having to tell HT as need LOA for midwife next week!!

Frizzy1986 · 24/02/2019 22:42

I'm back at work after a week off to look after dd. I'm terrified they are going to spot how large I fear I have become. I tend to wear skater dresses so I won't have to change my outfits as I've always had a slight tummy but the constant snacking could be a giveaway.
To top it off I've got my booking at 9am on Friday so I've got to fake a doctors appointment. I'm going to say it's at 9:30 but i know they say to allow 90mins which is going to be suspect. Anyone thought of any good lies to cover the time?

neuroticnumpty · 25/02/2019 06:42

@Frizzy1986 I'm also back today after a week off. I've already had 50% less sleep and have absolutely doubled in size 🙈
Good luck to you today I hope it goes well xx

Nextchapter19 · 25/02/2019 08:33

I hate the first day back! Its cold, Im grumpy and not feeling like teaching teenagers Economics!!! My midwife appt is on March 12th so am going to have to tell school at 8weeka which is earlier than I wanted too but no choice really!

CZFR · 25/02/2019 08:41

@Frizzy1986 Mine is today and I just said that I had a doctor appointment with not much more detail than that. If I am being asked why it was so long I will just say they had me waiting for ages! Xx

Nextchapter19 · 25/02/2019 11:39

I know thought about that but already had two hospital appts Since Sept for a knee related sporting injury so didnt want another! Plus if they know its maternity related no absence etc is recorded as sickness so just think its better I let HR know. Im also thinking it will give them time to get a job advert out be Easter!!!!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 25/02/2019 12:11

@Secretlifeofme thanks so much for the new thread and for tagging me 😘

How's everyone?

@neuroticnumpty definitely me! 4th baby and have a definite hard bump. Like @sal1987, mine makes even more of an appearance in the evenings but it is there most of the day. Not sure how I'll hide it for another 6ish weeks.

Was a little concerned yesterday when my symptoms seemed to disappear. Felt too well. Delighted to report I'm feeling like absolute shit today! 🙌🤞🏻

HarryPottersSecretSister · 25/02/2019 12:15

@Jodie6 I think some of us are starting to show a little/ are very bloated because the body has started to produce progesterone which slows down the digestive system and bloats the stomach (is this to allow more nutrients to be absorbed for the baby? Did I read that before? maybe someone more knowledgeable will be able to answer)

It's definitely a thing/ possible! 😊

HarryPottersSecretSister · 25/02/2019 12:18

@GinMama1 thank you. I had read that somewhere (I thought) but glad to know I didn't imagine it (re smear). I have my booking in appointment next Monday with GP so I'll mention it to her because of my history but I think you're right.

Is the FB page busy yet or are many of you on it?

Random2468 · 25/02/2019 13:58

Hi guys, last time I was pregnant with my MMC my boss took off time from my accrued lieu for MW or scan appointments - is that wrong should it just be normal paid time? Just wondering for this time if I should say something

Frizzy1986 · 25/02/2019 14:03

I think I'm going to go with it being an annual health check but also be vague.
I'm pretty sure they won't be surprised when it all comes out as my boss already asks if I want more kids and what sort of age gap id like. It's a bit bad really as he shouldn't ask that sort of stuff so much.
I don't know if I wait until after my 6 month probation is up (mid April) or tell them as soon as I've had my scan if it goes well (I'm assuming that'll be end of March)

Dreamer2019 · 25/02/2019 14:50

@Random2468 your workplace has to allow you time off for all antenatal appointments...I'm unsure whether these have to be paid though. All mine were.

I'm trying to find the right moment to tell my manager about the pregnancy. I'm reluctant to share but there's an expectation of moving around and lifting stuff in my job and I'm in charge of pretty big event next Tuesday and don't want to be shifting stuff! Sit in an open plan office so it's all a bit awkward! I'm off work on Friday and Monday so need to get my act together and tell her. Wish me luck!

AngeloMysterioso · 25/02/2019 15:07

Is anyone else still taking pregnancy tests? I'm doing the tiny little strip ones every morning still... I think just for reassurance. I'm so scared of having a MMC though.

Haven't really told anyone yet, DH and I have told one friend each and that's it. Waiting til Mother's Day to tell PILs/my DM, thought it would be a nice day to do it as it's the first DGC for my PILs and my DM and DB are NC so she doesn't see his children, so it'll be really special for her too. Will be 10+4 by then and planning on getting an early scan, which we'll frame and give to them as Mothers Day gifts.

That is if I don't miscarry. The fear/paranoia is so real.

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 25/02/2019 15:20

@AngeloMysterioso I still do them everyday still too, just the cheap thin ones... Calms the mind xx

WhiteVixen · 25/02/2019 15:36

I’ve not done a test for a good few days now. I did a CB digital last Sunday. I can’t think what day it was but one day since then, last week, I did a cheap strip test. Just to check that the line was getting darker! I’ve managed to resist doing another since then. I’d like to get another digi to check it’s gone to 3+ weeks but I keep telling myself to save my money.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 25/02/2019 15:37

@AngeloMysterioso snap and snap
I'm doing a test every couple of days to track line progression. I even take pics and add them into a folder so I can compare Blush very very anxious that something will go wrong following a precious MC. Wish I could relax more. The test line is now considerably darker than the control line so I'm trying my best to.

Also planning on an early scan at 10 weeks and telling my children and my mum on Mother's Day.
Was going to stick a scan pic in her Mother's Day card.

Looking forward to hearing how lovely your announcement goes.

Frizzy1986 · 25/02/2019 18:22

I've not done a test for at least a week or so now. I only have a frer left and feel like I'd rather wait and do one last minute before a 12 week scan.

angel0071987 · 25/02/2019 18:36

I've come to the conclusion it must have been a man that came up with "morning sickness". More like all day or afternoon/eve sickness. Idiot!!!

BowSurprise · 25/02/2019 18:38

Hi everyone and congratulations!

I am 5+6 and due on the 22nd October :) this will be my second child as I have a toddler

I’d love to join the Facebook group someone mentioned.

BowSurprise · 25/02/2019 18:39

I agree I feel most sick in the afternoon and evening as I get even more tired!!

Tora4 · 25/02/2019 19:34

I was wondering why it was so quiet!

I'm definitely feeling bloated, and looking it DH committed on it tonight... nice to know I look it!!!

Really struggling at work and not letting on, feeling sick in the middle of the day, and there is nowhere to hide!

sal1987 · 25/02/2019 20:18

Definitely feel more sick as the day goes on and I get more tired. DP has told me I'm eating too much......I was doing slimming world before so really watched my portions, now I think I have doubled them (granted all home cooked meals!!) but he just doesn't understand the hunger that goes with this growing a baby thing!! I'm going to have to add a piece of toast for the car journey to work tomorrow to try to stop the morning sickness!! I'm going to be the size of a house by 12 weeks if I'm not careful....,.and DP may not make it to the birth alive if he keeps going 😂😂😂

Topsy15 · 25/02/2019 20:30

I love reading what everyone's feeling and up to! Thought I'd update rather than just lurking 😏. Glad to hear it's not me who is super bloated... it's fine in the mornings, pretty much flat but by bedtime I could pass for being about 6 months if I let it all go!!! Hopefully it's a good sign. It's just dragging so much though isn't it, haven't even got my booking in until next week when I will be just over 10, hope they get me in for my scan quickly! Every day I look at private scans and then force myself to wait haha. Does anyone else alternate between being calm and trusting things to suddenly being convinced it's all gone wrong?! X

Topsy15 · 25/02/2019 20:30

Sorry not just me* haha

Frizzy1986 · 25/02/2019 20:48

I've definitely put on weight. The thing is at the moment I'm just eating what doesn't make me feel sick thinking about it.
From last time I remember that once this bit is over you can slot back into regular eating. I'm enjoying a lot of carb based foods right now which is bad for my weight and bloat but when I'm done with this trimester the thought of salad, fruit, fish, yoghurt etc won't make me feel ill so I think my eating will settle down a lot more and I can focus on eating better.
At this point I'm going with the "do whatever I need to to get by" approach.
I put on 3 stone last time and I reckon it could end up more this time. I lost it all within a year though so I'm actually fairly confident that I could get back to better than pre pregnancy in the end.
