Hi everyone! Is it too late to join? I don't have many symptoms compared to my first pregnancy apart from waves of tiredness that come and go.

InDreamland · 17/06/2018 17:34

@Wowthisisreal that's great news about your scan!

@hotdamndiggitydam hope the nausea etc passes soon. Sounds awful. I feel like I've got off lightly compared to what you're experiencing.

@FiftyShadesOfDuckEggBlue it's never too late to join.

I've been struggling with food a bit. I can only seem to eat junk food or white/beige food. I love fruit and veg but I'm struggling to eat them. I've been ok with white fish, bread, white potato, crisps, biscuits etc. I've struggled with chicken (I struggle with dry meats and chicken is often too dry for me at the best of times but it seems worse now). I had a massive aversion to beetroot the other day, I took one bite and tried to chew it but it just made me want to be sick.

I'm also having issues with smells, I struggle with perfumes anyway but it is definitely worse now. We have those air wick diffuser things and I unplugged one in the kitchen but I could still smell it, so asked DH if there was another and he swore there weren't any others. It got so bad I went hunting and found one he forgot about. Much better now that they're all unplugged. Got in DH car yesterday and it smelt like beef jerky, was weird. And at my friends house today, when they had coffee I smelt freshly sawn wood.

InDreamland · 17/06/2018 20:43

@cryptonaut I feel for you. Thankfully I've not been too awful with food. I had a couple of weeks where food didn't taste quite the same/right. At the moment I'm put off fish and chips, the thought of eating it turns my stomach. It may have something to do with a few weeks ago I swore my house smelt of fish and chips which is not possible given we've not had it for a couple of months. In 2 weeks the team at work have organised a fish and chip lunch .......hope I'm over it by then otherwise I'm gonna have to come up with a lame excuse they will no believe because anyone who knows me knows I love fiah and chips but haven't told them yet I'm pg amd no intention of telling them for another month until were 13 or 14 weeks. Have you tried raw veggies? Like just cucumber, carrots and peppers as they don't have a particularly strong flavour or smell.

WhirlingTurkey atm they're 6, 3 and 1. I've still not accepted I'm pregnant despite the awful time I'm having. It's taking a lot to adjust Confused Baby will be loved once its here but honestly atm I'm just not excited and don't want to admit it and I'm hating myself for it. Im sure hormones aren't helping either lol

cryptonaut · 17/06/2018 21:45

@InDreamland managed a burger, some baby pickles and a spoonful of salad for dinner tonight (lettuce, tomato, cucumber and red pepper), the lettuce tasted odd lol but no one else said anything so thought it must just be me. Also, fell asleep on my friends sofa while they were making the burgers... oops

InDreamland · 17/06/2018 21:58

@cryptonaut that is really good. You need protein for energy. Are you taking those pregnancy vitamin supplements? I started taking them as soon as I got my BFP? ran out to Tesco to buy them - along with another pack of tests aa I didn't believe I was actually pg.

I also crashed on the sofa this afternoon for a couple of hours - DH thinks it's a good sign I'm tired! I just wish I didn't get so tired in the afternoons as it's fine at the weekends I can just lie down but I can't do that at work then also have an hour commute on the tube.

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 17/06/2018 22:14

@InDreamland yeah, I wasn't sure what I needed to do so saw doctor couple of days after BFP, he said just folic acid but saw that pregnacare cost the same so been taking them as they include so much more.

Yeah work is tough, but wfh most of the time so I have more flexibility. Feel you on the tube, worked in London last week and really struggled with getting the hour long train and then Waterloo and City line at rush hour. Then customer meetings so couldn't snack as much or go to toilet too often. Got the same week after next, then abroad the week after that. For those two weeks I have to stand up for several days to give training presentations etc. Dunno how anyone's supposed to survive that when feeling so awful.

InDreamland · 17/06/2018 22:55

@cryptonaut, that's good, think I'm taking the same ones, they were on 3 for 2 offer so I have enough to take me right through the full pregnancy I think, got the big box of 70 odd tablets per box. At least you're getting the vitamins you need so if you are off food or the healthy food then you know that is covered.

Isn't bank station awful at rush hour, I change there every day too. How awful that you have to do presentations wheb you feel terrible. Last week I delivered/facilitated a workshop, I made sure my assistant was there too for her development so got her to do all the flip charts standing up bits for me so I could just deliver sitting down - noone suspected a thing (I don't think) and that was a day I was lightheaded, dizzy, felt nauseous and my hayfever was dreadful too. So I really do feel for you having to do all that. Travelling loads on public transport is a killer, don't know how I survived the journey to the Midlands and back on Friday.

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 17/06/2018 23:13

@InDreamland at least you had some help, bet it was still really hard though. And that trip to the midlands must've been awful. Hope you don't have to do that too often

InDreamland · 18/06/2018 08:08

@cryptonaut I have managed to get out of the one next month thankfully, got my boss to agree I could miss it.

Does your boss know yet? If they did could they then cut you some slack and give extra support or reduce how much you have to do until 2nd trimester when hopefully you'll feel better?

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 18/06/2018 09:47

@InDreamland yeah I told my boss pretty much straight away so that he can understand if I ask for some time. Unfortunately we have a very small team and very few of them in the UK, I do a lot less travel than my colleagues already so it would be unreasonable to ask for even less than I already have. But if it becomes too much I trust that I can talk to my boss without judgement.

Jigglyjugs · 18/06/2018 10:11

Hi, would like to join due Jan chat! If that's ok Grin
Due my first on 28th of Jan (I think) first midwife appointment today!

WhirlingTurkey · 18/06/2018 12:17

Hi @Jigglyjugs welcome to the thread. :) Is this you first?
I'm due 26th of Jan (No. 2), although I think that date might move a couple of days later when I have a scan.

Got my GP appointment this afternoon. I think the GP arranges the first scan, so hoping I get a letter shortly afterwards so I finally have a date to count down to!! Midwife Tues next week. Feeling a bit more real now. Although the sickness can do one, I feel awful.

Jigglyjugs · 18/06/2018 13:13

Hi Smile
Yes this is my (unexpected) first! Yes, not 100% on dates but it's as accurate as I can give, really!
Ah must be different at your GP, I saw mine as I'm on anti depressants and just needed to talk about that, but otherwise everything is through midwife. Just waiting on a letter with a scan invite date. 4 weeks seems like such a long wait!
Poor you Sad! I've been feeling nauseous, but not actually been sick, although I don't fancy much food either! And woken up with lower back pain today, so that's fun Hmm

InDreamland · 18/06/2018 19:00

That's good @cryptonaut. At least if yoy really have to yoy can talk to the boss and say you're struggling or having a bad day.

@jigglyjugs welcome! I'm also a FTM due pretty close to your date on the 25th Jan. Guess will find out in 4 weeks though at the 12 week scan as at the moment relying on the NHS calculator. It's all pretty scary stuff!

Got my booking appointment tomorrow. Really nervous!

OP posts:
purplesmiler · 19/06/2018 07:53

@InDreamland my booking in appointment is later today too. Not clear exactly how far along I am so won't know until 12 week but my early scans at the EPU have dated me in between 7 and 8 weeks.

Keep feeling a little quesy but usually a snack helps. I have had a few headaches and had to sleep them off. Also the burping has continued lol mints help to ease it when I'm out and about. I have been worried that I haven't had many symptoms but that stems from my previous MC too the anxiety is there so very much have to take a day at a time.

InDreamland · 19/06/2018 08:11

@purplesmiler hope your appt goes well. I started making a list of things I want to ask/discuss and also a list of my family medical history. This morning is going to drag. Have to leave work early afternoon to get to my appt on time. Dates wise I'm still only going by the NHS calculator, the 12 week scan can't come soon enough - 3 weeks on Friday. It is hard but try and stay positive - same as you taking each day as it comes and trying to remind myself I'm generally fit and healthy which must count for something.

OP posts:
purplesmiler · 19/06/2018 09:29

Thank you @InDreamland that's a great idea for preparing for the appointment. My appointment is early evening hope yours goes well too.

Struggling with the heat this morning need to be better at drinking water during the day.

FiftyShadesOfDuckEggBlue · 19/06/2018 10:36

I have been feeling as a fraud since I got the first BFP. I had all sorts of (mild) symptoms during my first pregnancy and I figured out I was pregnant before testing due to extreme tiredness and back pain. This time round days pass without anything much to report. Yesterday and today I had quite a lot of nausea in the morning, which made me happy as it made me think that it might still be on! It doesn't help that the few people we've told at this stage have not been massively enthusiastic. Blush First scan scheduled for mid July. The uncertainty is killing me.

ladydanger · 19/06/2018 12:31

Has anybody here paid for a Harmony test and if so your thoughts on it? And places you'd recommend in London? I'm so torn as to whether it's worth doing...!

rainylake · 19/06/2018 13:47

Hi @jigglyjugs, I am due the day after you on 29th Jan.

Sympathy to everyone suffering with nausea and fatigue. I'm lucky that I don't feel sick (though I am raveningly hungry all the time, which is actually getting to be a bit of a pain), but I am really tired and struggling to get through the days. I work from home so I'm lucky in that I can have a lie down, but then it means I have more work to catch up afterwards, and if I do fall asleep I wake up feeling really groggy.

@ladydanger. I'm going to have the Harmony test (though can't have it for another few weeks). Not in London though, so am going to my local fertility clinic which also offers it as a separate thing. You can (at least here) book the test without a scan but just the bloods which makes it slightly cheaper. I'm nervous about this pregnancy because I've been through IVF to get here and I'm also 38, and I just feel like setting my mind at rest would be really good (or if there's a problem, at least knowing now so I can prepare myself).

m4rdybum · 19/06/2018 19:59

@Hotdamndiggitydam - are you me? Grin

I cannot stand the smell of our house, no matter how much air freshener and shake n vac I buy.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself today. Managed to eat a bread bun for my tea but I've got a blinding headache and feel so close to being sick.

I'm 10+2 and should be getting excited for our upcoming scan but I'm so fed up of feeling like a warmed up shite that I just want to sit and cry.

DH is having to make his own tea tonight and I'm just sick of feeling like a shit wife.

lavender20 · 19/06/2018 20:13

Hi I'm new!
About 8 weeks with my second, very very bloated I look about 20 weeks! Feel generally a bit crap, very tired and struggling with smells. Symptoms same as with my first.

I just read someone hates the smell of their house? Me too, I'm washing /cleaning everything in my living room because I'm convinced there's an awful smell.

InDreamland · 20/06/2018 08:07

@purplesmiler how was your booking appointment? Hope it all went well. It's all rather overwhelming, so much to try and take in. Took 1.5 hours rather than 1 hour. Got blood tests to get done this week, will go tomorrow for those. Already getting confused with stuff. Gonna have to change my booked holiday as it's a high risk zika country and also she said to bring whatever we book in replacement forward a month so it's under 28 weeks. I think I'll actually do it after the 12 week scan as want to make sure everything so far is ok before changing plans.

@FiftyShades @m4rdybum hope you're feeling better today.

@ladydanger not sure if we'll have the harmony test. DH and I have to have a chat and see if we want to have it.

@lavender20 welcome to the group.
