purple that’s annoying. If it’s any consolation, the nausea seemed to ease for me but then got replaced by acid reflux which makes me throw up Grin if it’s not one thing, it’s something else!

Congrats on your little boy Risk! Sounds as though you just had a cooperative baby - the lady was going through all our measurements really quickly until the baby ended up in a position she couldn’t see clearly with! I know what you mean about it feeling more real knowing the sex. I’m so glad we found out. I’ve been so elated since then and I think I needed this excitement in the middle of the pregnancy - in the hell of the first trimester, January felt like so long away, but knowing there was something exciting at 20 weeks helped keep me going I think. I think it makes it easier to picture the baby being here as well.

purplesmiler · 24/08/2018 08:37

Congratulations on your baby boy @RiskIt4Biscuit.

@GinGeum if it's not one thing it's another making us sick the joys Smile

I'm jealous of you all knowing already I'm due the end of Jan so my 20 week scan is in mid September when we will hopefully find out the sex of our baby.

sqoodles · 24/08/2018 09:35

I have my scan on Wednesday. I'm nervous and excited in equal measure. I just want it over and done with now (and to find out the sex Grin)

I'm still suffering from bouts of dizziness/feeling very cold/slight nausea/headaches etc which are almost definitely down to my low blood pressure.

I'd also forgotten about the solar plexus chest pain which you get when your ribs expand to make more room. That started yesterday which kept me awake. Whinge whinge! I know I shouldn't.

I hope everyone is ok and has something good planned for the long weekend.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 24/08/2018 12:03

Thank you both :)

Yes, baby was cooperating which was nice. He was lying with his foot over his head, holding the foot with his hand. The lady doing the scan said he would certainly be a gymnast. She also said he was not shy :D

I really think that it has changed how we think about the pregnancy - my DH seems far more interested today, and he was saying it feels so much more real to him too.
I was convinced that baby was a girl, but DH was convinced it was a boy (and he was feeling particularly smug about being right on the way home from hospital). Obviously all we want is a healthy baby, but it has been fun to guess - and now to know.
It must be a bit difficult for the men to relate and bond - we feel the kicking and all that during pregnancy, and they only get to see it from a distance.

I know we're just in (end) August now, but December/January not not very far away, and baby could arrive early. I feel like I've only been pregnant for a few weeks, and I feel like I could use a few more months on top of what I've got left. There's so much to get sorted!

Merrz · 24/08/2018 13:21

Congratulations on your baby boy @RiskIt4Biscuit I feel the same, although the 1st trimester wasn't much fun the time seems to be passing really fast. My scan is a week an half away, I'm excited but also really nervous about it. I'll be so relived when it's over and hopefully find out everything is fine.

Sorry to hear about those of you still suffering from nausea, i'm feeling pretty good this week although still so tiered, could happily spend the entire evening dozing on the couch and still sleep a full 8 hours.

GinGeum · 24/08/2018 13:46

Risk I completely agree about the DH thing. DH hadn’t made it to any appointments yet, and almost didn’t make it to the 20 week scan either, but he said he’s so glad he did now because it just felt so much more real to him seeing the baby move like a proper human. The baby was drinking at one point and we could really clearly see the lips moving and he’s not stopped talking about that since. He also said that up until that point, he’d had no preference/opinion on what sex he wanted, but in the 10 seconds when the lady said ‘I’ll just have a look to see the genitals’ he said he desperately hoped she’d find a willy, and so he was glad to be there for that ‘moment’ I think.

GinGeum · 24/08/2018 13:48

I went and bought a few babygros today, I couldn’t resist. I wanted to just buy a little pack from Sainsburys while I was food shopping, but they didn’t have a single thing in a size less than 6 months, so I ended up driving all the way to Mothercare Grin

Buttercup53 · 24/08/2018 14:05

@riskit I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels like that! I felt like the first trimester lasted for months and months and like pregnancy would never end, but now we’re coming into September it’s going unbelievably fast. There’s a very good chance my baby could be born in December which feels about 2 minutes away and I’m not ready yet!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 24/08/2018 15:43

Thank you Merrz!
I feel tired too - but as my mum says; it takes a lot of energy to grow a human, so it's completely okay to have a midday nap or two.

Gin It is very fascinating to see the baby on the scans - I still find it odd that there's a little human growing inside. It's the most natural thing in the world, but it's just so weird and magical. My DH looked so happy and excited at the scan, and I think it means so much to be able to see it.

I went to TKMaxx yesterday after the scan, and for the first time I had a look at baby stuff. They had some very cute and tiny Ralph Lauren sneakers, but I didn't buy anything!
I've heard that H&M are pretty good for baby clothes, but I haven't checked.

I'll be going to see my parents soon, and I suspect my mum will want to come with me when getting the pram.
I'm thinking of getting some nice yarn - she knits, and she has said that despite her lack of skill (I think she's brilliant), she would love to make something for the baby.
I think I could just get the yarn, and then she can find a pattern that she likes - I frankly don't care what she makes, as I think anything would be lovely!

Buttercup, I agree - the first trimester was slow. I suspect as we all get bigger and the bumps get heavier to carry around, we'll be looking forward to it being over!
I'm really enjoying pregnancy so far though. I just need more time to plan everything!

beccii161016 · 24/08/2018 16:32

@purplesmiler you have my sympathy, I think I'm in the same boat as yourself re: sickness! I'm having a girl so maybe it's a girl thing?! Hope you're not feeling too rough. Maybe we'll get an easier labour as a consolation Grin

@RiskIt4Biscuit congratulations on your baby boy! Glad to hear that all is okay with little one. He sounds like he'll be a very active bean!

It does definitely seem to be going by way too fast for my liking. It just doesn't feel like we have enough time to be properly sorted! It's strange because the first time around, it felt like all I had was time I don't know about anyone else?!

Kate123cl · 24/08/2018 16:35

@beccii161016 Yep, same with meGrin I found myself wishing the weeks away in the early stages! Crazy to think it's Halloween, Christmas and then all of our babies are dueShock there's no time at all!

Merrz · 24/08/2018 16:43

Aww i can't wait until i've had my scan then can start shopping for things Grin
Eek that's scary @Kate123cl I'm planning to have everything bought and organised before xmas so i can enjoy xmas/new year and then hopefully have a relaxing couple of weeks to chill before baby arrives so i kind of feel like i'm counting down to Decemeber which really isn't that far away

GinGeum · 24/08/2018 16:43

Totally with you on the knitted front Risk - you can’t beat hand knitted things for babies, can you? I think MIL will do some knitting for baby, and the grandmother of some children I used to look after has said she has started knitting some cardigans. So cute.

It’s definitely going quickly now, I agree. We really, really need to get on and start building this bloody bathroom. I fear it will never be completed in time otherwise. We haven’t got much to buy for baby, just lots to do before he comes.

doleritedinosaur · 24/08/2018 16:45

I’m one of those ones with nausea all the way until I give birth too, but had 2 boys so far.
Actually had 2 normal days with no mood swings, very little nausea & no tiredness which is good as eldest is off Nursery so been doing a lot.

My bump has popped out even further so now it’s quite obvious I’m pregnant.

Baby gros wise H&M are lovely, Asda, Tesco’s & Next have lasted through 3 babies so far (gave all my clothes to a friend & now ending back with them.)
Mini club are good as well but wait for sales, theirs are really colourful & last through all the sick & poonami’s.

Congratulations on another boy!
My hospital won’t tell us at the scan, think they’re the only trust that don’t & its £5 a scan photo.

I’m looking forward to the scan just not my consultant appointment aftwards but hopefully it’s the only one.

Is everyone looking forward to the weekend? Going to get the paint to start bathrooms. I’m leaving baby stuff to the last minute as have to need to get more furniture to actually put the clothes in!

SuperVeggie · 24/08/2018 17:42

Hi everyone just checking in quickly to tell you all that we are having a GIRL! I had a strong feeling throughout that it was a girl but my DH said boy, so I’m glad that I was right Grin I would of course have been happy with either but would have taken a while to get my head round a boy as I’ve been thinking girl for so long!

beccii161016 · 24/08/2018 18:24

I have to admit we've already do a little shopping but I've had a few clothing bundles from Ebay! Course I'll wash them but I've saved so much money and there's some lovely quality clothes from Next, M&S, Mothercare etc!

@SuperVeggie congratulations on your little girl! Not only is it exciting but you get to be smug about being right

@doleritedinosaur that's a bit rubbish that they don't give you the option of finding out. I do agree though, hospital scan photos are very overpriced.

Ahh it's going to be lovely when we're finally all sorted and talking about how we're just waiting for little one to arrive! I know thats months away but it will fly!

I want nothing more than to start preparing our home for our little girl to arrive but unfortunately I don't know that we'll be here when she arrives! My DP lost his job a few weeks back and is struggling for work. Then I was basically railroaded into resigned yesterday. I've written a grievance about how unfair it was but it still means we're both jobless and unable to pay the rent. Our tenancy is up for renewal in November and I'm worried the landlord won't renew it. We'll have 2 months to find somewhere else, which we have no money for anyway and that period will take us over Christmas and up to my due date. Not ideal for a family with a near 2 year old and expecting another!

Sorry for venting and putting a dampener on the thread. I'm just very overwhelmed by it all and my hormones aren't helping a bit. I would absolutely LOVE a glass of wine right now! Wine

purplesmiler · 25/08/2018 06:50

@beccii161016 I can relate a little I left my job earlier this year due to bullying from a manager. It made me so poorly and our health comes first. Have you explored your options with the council 're housing?

@SuperVeggie congrats on your baby girl so exciting.

I've woke up feeling sick as usual. I'm having to pee at least 2 times per night sometimes more.

The thread is nearly full ladies Smile

Buttercup53 · 26/08/2018 14:07

Anyone else feel like their body is really full up? Over the past couple of weeks my bump has turned from a bit of a lump to full on, real life pregnancy bump. For the first time I feel a bit daunted by how big it’s going to get, I’m only 21 weeks and I really can feel the extra mass I’m lugging around. Does this mean I’m going to be massive by December?! Hope all you guys are doing well this bank holiday weekend :)

GinGeum · 26/08/2018 15:24

I feel like I heave myself out of bed these days Buttercup - what are we going to be like at full term?!

Is anyone else getting fed up of ‘advice’ from what seems to be the entire world? So many opinions and the baby isn’t even here yet.

Does someone want to make a new thread soon? I feel a bit cheeky doing it seeing as I only joined in about half way through this one!

Buttercup53 · 26/08/2018 16:40

@gin I’ll create one now and add the link in a comment here
