Morning @InDreamland. At least you know now about the holiday and can plan something safer, plus going away sooner is a good thing? Think we are staying in the UK, was about to book a book a long haul holiday when we found out I was pregnant and I do love my sunshine holidays.

Booking in went well, found it really informative had my bloods taken and was told that I will be under consultant care (due to previous MC and also BMI). Also was reassured as I had some light pink when I wiped a couple of times recently after a bowel movement and she explained that sometimes the blood vessels on the cervix get irritated when we go to the loo which can cause the light pink colour.

They said I should get my 12 week scan through in the next 7-10 days.

WhirlingTurkey · 20/06/2018 10:58

@InDreamland - annoying about the holiday, but good that you found out while there is still time to rearrange it.

I saw the GP on Monday and had to wait and hour and five minutes to be seen for a pre-booked appointment. Not happy about that, especially as the waiting room was blazing hot and I had my toddler with me (and I forgot snacks - OMG!). But that appointment will have kicked off referral for 12 week scan so hopefully I get the letter with a date soon. Getting very impatient!!

I don't plan to have the harmony test, unless there is any cause for concern raised from the combined test. Fingers crossed that isn't a decision I need to make.

Oh my gosh I’m so glad I’m not alone on the house smell. I’m off work today because I’ve been so ill but the smell in the house is horrific. I’ve cleaned the kitchen, lit a million candles and febreezed everything to an inch of its life and I’m still here wanting to rip my nose off.

I don’t even know what it is. It’s a relatively new house but it had a smell when we moved in that’s not like a damp smell or anything, and fairly faint, it went away pretty quickly, just put it down to the previous owner smell but now it’s all I can smell. The air freshener I loved is now rancid, I want to redecorate because the colours on the wall remind me of the smell. I think this weekend will be carpet cleaning. There’s absolutely nothing else it can be. The windows are open constantly and it does nothing. Hubby can’t smell a thing, it’s driving me mad.

Now the dogs just farted. Oh myyyyy... 😡😩

Hi everyone, can I join please?

I'm currently 8+3 and my EDD is 27/01/19, so I'm just about in the January club! This is our first baby. I had my booking in appointment yesterday and my dating scan is now booked for 10th July. Not sure if I can wait that long, eek! I'm going to be under consultant care due to pre-existing medical conditions.

I did have an upper abdominal ultrasound scan last week for my other medical problems (so not a pregnancy scan) and I mentioned to the sonographer that I was pregnant, she said oh thats lovely etc, got on with the scanning and then at the end without any warning she just popped the probe thingy down on my pelvis and said look there's your baby! I only got a quick glimpse as she wasn't doing it properly (fairly sure she probably wasn't meant to do it, and would have been horrible if she couldn't find anything!) but I saw the little baby and teeny tiny heartbeat! It was nice but also mega weird. Looked like a little alien.

So far I feel like I've been pretty lucky with symptoms, a few aches and pains, a lot of tiredness, and some nausea most days but I'm not being sick thankfully. Hope everyone else is ok and not struggling too much!

Jigglyjugs · 20/06/2018 14:41

Ugh poor you @hotdamndiggitydam, I thought it was bad enough when the bin smell kept wafting through the window before collection day - must be awful to have it all the time! Dog hasn't brought anything in/isn't a chew toy or anything?

Hi @superveggie, I think we are due around the same time! I'm not 100% certain on exact dates, but I guess I'll find out at scan! I had my Checking in appointment on Monday, waiting on a letter for a scan date, can't wait! Exciting you got to see it the other day though!

InDreamland · 20/06/2018 18:48

Glad it went well @purplesmiler. Hope your appointment for the scan comes through soon.

@WhirlingTurkey that's so annoying you had to wait so long. Hope your appt comes through soon too.

I love my holidays (have a reputation for taking lots) - in the month between conceiving and finding out I was pg we'd done a long haul holiday and a short haul city break. I'm desperate now to find a nice zika free destination. We'll make the change to our booking as soon as we have the 12 week scan (in 3 weeks on Friday) as do want to make sure that everything is okay with the pregnancy ........just in case something is wrong. I'm ao anxious about things, just want to see our baby well and heart beating. Are we sensible to wait to rebook/reareange holiday until then? Just feel like if we do it now we're jinxing the pregnancy. Also worried as I have fibriods (found on a scan I had earlier in the year) amd if they've not gone in the 12 week scan I'm likely to be considered a high risk pregnancy.

@InDreamland what are the terms and conditions for your booking? Did you book it yourself or go through a travel agency? If you went through an agency you can probably speak to someone to ask about the terms of your booking and suggest a different location for you.
I understand you want to wait, I would do the same, but check the booking. Also, it might be worth checking travel insurance to make sure you'd be covered for whichever location you choose

InDreamland · 20/06/2018 22:33

We booked through a travel agency this time which we rarely do as normally book direct through airline holidays.

So the "cancellation conditions" are:
61 days or more to departure loss of deposits and prepayments
60-45 days 50% off total cost of holiday
Etc etc

We're due to fly out on 15th November so at moment 147 days away.

DH actually phoned then a couple of weeks ago and asked about possibly changing holiday after explaining I was pg as apparently they told him we needed to act quickly but they could probably change us to a different holiday. I'm hoping we can just do it after the scan on the 13th July. If we do our research now into zika free locations we should be able to make a quick decision.

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 20/06/2018 22:37

@InDreamland then you should be fine to wait until after the scan. It would probably be more difficult if you'd booked through an airline but should be ok with a travel agent as they can help you find the best deals/options :) good luck

InDreamland · 20/06/2018 22:56

Thanks @cryptonaut. I am excited about baby given its taken 5 years to happen for us but at the same time I am slightly gutted about having to change this trip as it's a long time in the planning, more research spent on this one than usual on our holidays....... goodness i sound so ungrateful.

I'm already planning in my head baby's first holiday at around 10 months old!

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 21/06/2018 08:37

@InDreamland haha that's brilliant. We don't go on holiday much so not even thought about it. But we've been invited to my cousins wedding in South Africa mid-Feb and I'm trying to figure out if it's doable lol baby would only be a few weeks old if dates are correct and they're on time.... probably going to have to say we can't go :(

InDreamland · 21/06/2018 09:08

@cryptonaut wow that's very ambitious if you do say yes. No idea how we'd feel only a few weeks .....what is baby is late? Don't think I would be that brave. That said my SIL gave birth in February and took her newborn away a few weeks after but it was her 3rd so maybe felt confident she knew what she was doing.

I'm thinking a nice beach holiday.

OP posts:
SuperVeggie · 21/06/2018 10:32

@Jigglyjugs that's cool that we're due around the same time! To be honest I think once I have the dating scan they're going to say I'm not quite as far along as I thought, and perhaps adjust my due date back, because I sometimes have slightly longer cycles and I'm not exactly sure when I ovulated. But it's really nice having other people in the same boat and similar stages of pregnancy, especially as it's my first time!

@cryptonaut and @InDreamland I am thinking about whether we should book a holiday for September, in case this is our last 'nice' holiday for a while! I'm thinking maybe Greece or somewhere, I'd be about 20-22 weeks so might be a good point to go away. @InDreamland I would wait until after the scan to rearrange, but then do it quite quickly afterwards!

SophieStripe · 21/06/2018 10:44

Hello all, can I join?! I've posted a couple of times in the general forum mainly around my fears of MC. I'm 11 weeks with first baby (had MC 5 months ago at 10+4) and according to my app due 09/01/19! Have had booking appointment and have 12 week scan on 7th July when I will be 13 weeks. So long to wait still and I'm going out of my mind! I've not been too bad with symptoms, lots of bloating, huge but not too sore boobies and a lot of naseau 24/7 but no sickness. Last couple of weeks though nausea has tailored off and boobs seem a little bit smaller which is hugely worrying me! Looking forward to seeing scan pics start to come through on this group!

rainylake · 21/06/2018 10:46

@cryptonaut something else to consider is whether you can definitely get a passport for the baby in time, because that can take a few weeks, and if the service is slow and/or the baby is late you may end up not getting it through before the flight. If you've had a difficult birth, you might not want to sit on a longhaul flight that soon anyway. On the other hand they're quite portable at that age!

ladydanger · 21/06/2018 10:52

Anybody already started to put on weight? Sad
I know I haven't been as strict with my diet as I normally am (eating all the carbs as that's often the only thing I feel like...!) but I'm pretty shocked that I've already put on 3kgs, my clothes already feel tighter and I constantly feel bloated? :O

InDreamland · 21/06/2018 11:12

Thanks @SuperVeggie. Think that's what we'll do. Deffo look at booking a final holiday, love the idea of a babymoon. Thinking Santorini, Malta, Cyprus or Oman. Some nice 5* all inclusive.

@rainylake Good point on the passport, I remember my SIL and her husband did have a massive rush job to get the passport in time.

@SophieStripe it's so lovely sharing this with others around the same stage.

@ladydanger I'm feeling heavy but desperately trying (and failing) to stay healthy.

OP posts:
SophieStripe · 21/06/2018 11:34

Thanks indreamland! We are also looking at a babymoon (or rather I am!) and santorini is high up on the list of possibilities! I've always wanted to go there. Only issue is that it is VERY hilly so not sure about that with a big bump!
Ladydanger I feel like I have put on weight. Can barely fit in jeans and it's been like this for good 3 weeks now! Not sure if it's bloat, baby related or just me eating a shit load of carbs! I'm trying to be healthy but a lot of foods are a turn off at the moment! Hoping 2nd tri I will be better

Jigglyjugs · 21/06/2018 11:47

Ha @superveggie, I'm wondering if mine will change too! I have no idea when I ovulate, this was a total surprise!

I'm jealous of everyone planning a holiday, I so wanted a good two weeks on a beach, but DH has started a new job and isn't sure when he can just take time off Sad. Perhaps we can get a long weekend in somewhere.

Weight wise, I don't think I've put loads on but I cannot stand anything around my waist at the moment, due to bloating. Feels like I'm wearing a girdle! I'm trying to keep up with my gym routine, but it's so difficult as I'm just so tired. Managed a swim on Tuesday and a leg workout yesterday and have just woken up from a two hour nap today instead of going for another swim. I'm hoping it's true that we get some energy back in the second trimester, I struggle with work at the moment, (nanny, currently before and after SCH until holidays and then I'll be up to 12 hours Shock) so I need it back!

Sunnybuttercup · 21/06/2018 12:01

We bit the bullet and went for an early scan yesterday. It was expensive, but so worth it in terms of the peace of mind it’s given me, because I couldn’t stop fretting about why my symptoms seemed to have eased off so much from roughly week 6 onwards. Now I can just appreciate being one of the lucky ones, with only very mild nausea, without stressing about it!
It was so amazing to see our little nugget-shaped little one in there, and it turns out I’m probably about 5 days further along than I had thought, making our due date the 24th January. I couldn’t look at my DH when the lady turned on the sound for the heartbeat, or I think we would both have cried (but I was squeezing his hand so hard!). It was totally surreal, but also amazing. It really helped it sink in that this is actually happening. I can’t wait for the 12 week scan now, to see how much they change!
Also, does anyone else have any gut feeling yet about what they’re having? I have a strong inkling that our little nugget might be a boy.

purplesmiler · 21/06/2018 12:16

@Sunnybuttercup great news about the scan. We had a scan last week and to see the little heart beating was amazing.

Had to take myself to bed for a couple of hours yesterday due to feeling so sick. It doesn't seem as bad today but it didn't hit yesterday until mid afternoon.

@SuperVeggie My cycles were a little longer too, my dates have changed a couple of times already but I have been advised they will probably change again at the 12 week scan as up until that point they can be 5 days out either way. My new date is 2nd Feb so technically I shouldn't be in this group but I am staying as feel we have all shared so much already.

Sunnybuttercup · 21/06/2018 12:32

@purplesmiler - now that I'm not stressing about it anymore, I almost feel guilty at feeling relatively fine, when I know so many of the rest of you are feeling so wretched. Hope you start to feel better really soon!
I've mainly just been feeling really exhausted. There have been a few days where I kept nipping to the loos at work, just so I could just sit in the cubicle and close my eyes for a minute. I work in an open plan office, so couldn't put my head on my desk and take a nap like I wanted to do.

m4rdybum · 21/06/2018 13:27

@ladydanger - my clothes are definitely tighter. I haven't been eating very well though so I'm putting it down to that.

I'm sure the midwife will tell me off at my 16 weeks appointment Grin

cryptonaut · 21/06/2018 14:39

I completely agree with everyone about trying to get away only a few weeks after birth. I'm completely aware that it's almost impossible but I'm not saying anything until we have the official invitation.

Those who aren't eating as healthy as they would like, I'm the same. I brought this up in a pregnancy class this week and was actually getting really emotional that I can't seem to eat veg and can only eat carbs. They reassured me that it's completely normal at this stage as there is so much growth/development going on, that the baby will take what it needs (which is why some people get cravings apparently) and that if I'm taking a good multivitamin (pregnacare) there's nothing to worry about. Food aversions should pass in a few weeks according to the instructor.

Jigglyjugs · 21/06/2018 14:40

@purplesmiler my symptoms seem to be worse later on on the day too - my boobs are so sore at night I'm having to hold them ! Need to invest in a sleep bra type thing i think.

@sunnybuttercup, I feel like it's a girl for some reason... I would like a boy, but as long as it's healthy then it's all ok! I just want to start buying stuff; I have nothing I want for me (especially as clothes will be a bit pointless not knowing how big I'll get) and keep seeing some lovely baby bits!
