Ahh I haven't been on in a while - the thread has moved so fast!
Hello to everyone, I noticed a re intro back a few pages - I'm due 24th Jan with my first, a little boy we found out yesterday! I was so convinced it was a girl! I'm 30 and in the South East.
I'm sorry @Fuckmyuterus to hear your worries Sad. Still, a heartbeat is brilliant so hopefully it all evens itself out and baby is fine. It's always nerve wracking before a scan or anything because it's just impossible to know exactly what is going on! Apparently not all women carry a lot of fluid; my MIL said she literally carried an egg cup full with all three of hers, all of which were healthy and the two boys were huge!
I can't feel anything yet, just got a squishy stomach now. And woken with a headache, argh!
Anyone else have really grumpy days?

blorgzorb · 19/08/2018 08:56

@Jigglyjugs I'm SO grumpy. Littlest things set me off into a rage! Luckily I have a very understanding partner but I'd like to try and get a better grip on my emotions. Easier said than done though Blush

GinGeum · 19/08/2018 09:07

Wow I’m just coming up to 20 weeks Smile

I haven’t been having grumpy days, just really ridiculously emotional some days. Like, I cried looking at DH’s sandals by the back door because I could see the outline of his feet in them and I felt totally overwhelmed with how much I love him Blush I also keep doing the same with the animals, welling up looking at our spaniel because she’s so bloody gorgeous and fluffy and sweet. DH’s most used phrase at the moment is just ‘gather....’ Grin

doleritedinosaur · 19/08/2018 09:27

@jugglyjugs I have a lot of rage well things that set it off. Several phrases my OH uses & when he eats. It’s settling out a lot more now though & sometimes I eat in another room.

To the PP asking about anterior placenta I had one with my first & felt odd movements until 23 weeks then loads.

I’ve felt this one a lot but I don’t know if it’s because they like to roll or because it’s my third or the hypnobirthing exercises.

The tiredness seems to be not hitting as hard so I hope that’s it for a while.

Jigglyjugs · 19/08/2018 14:48

Ha glad I'm not the only one! I just seem to get grumpy if I've been to interactive all day, which isn't unusual for me as I'm very introverted, but it seems to be more intense than usual! Plus working full days in the holidays with kids is quite tiring, especially when they don't listen and you have to repeat yourself a thousand times.

Buttercup53 · 19/08/2018 17:15

Hope no one minds if I post something really TMI, but it need to get it off my chest and maybe someone else might have some advice?

My IBS has gotten significantly worse since I’ve been pregnant and I’m really struggling to know what to do. I’m flipping between painful constipation and bloating one week, to unmanageable diarrhoea the next. It was the IBS that made doctors think I was ectopic because the pain was so bad, and it feels like there’s nothing I can eat that doesn’t make me feel awful. I’m cutting out certain foods I’m normally ok with but which can trigger IBS for some people - onions and apples for example - but I just can’t seem to get the balance right. I’m also allergic to dairy which is a nightmare at the best of times, but I’m getting to the point where I don’t know what to eat to just feel well. If I eat really simple carbs like white potatoes, my stomach feels fine but then I’m shattered because I’m not getting enough nutrients.

On top of this they suspect I might have gestational diabetes, which if I do I’m tempted to ask for some kind of powdered supplement and just have that for the next 5 months because I can’t eat wholewheat, I can’t eat dairy, I can’t eat a massive variety of fruit or veg every day, so what would I be able to eat apart from meat (which I don’t really like honestly, I’m normally primarily vegan)?! Rant over - sorry!

GinGeum · 19/08/2018 17:29

Oh Buttercup that sounds really hard! I don’t have any advice other than maybe speak to GP - a few years back I got given some sort of tablet from the GP which was primarily peppermint I think? To treat IBS. I wonder if something like that might be safe in pregnancy to help you eat a bit easier.

Out of interest, in what way do they suspect GD? I only ask because I’m considered at risk of it due to type 1 in immediate family, and I have a glucose tolerance test in October, but I’ve been panicking myself recently that I have it already but I didn’t know if it was possible this early on. I have a huge knowledge of type 1 and absolute zilch knowledge of gestational!

Buttercup53 · 19/08/2018 17:44

@gin I usually drink green tea with peppermint, and that helps my stomach a lot, but trying to avoid caffeine (as it slows iron absorption and I’m tired enough as it is!) so I’ll try normal peppermint tea and see if it helps! I might be getting ahead of myself with the gestational diabetes and coming to my own conclusions. I have always had to have the test as my dad is diabetic, but figured it was a low risk. But at the 20 week scan baby is measuring in the 96th centile for his abdomen, so now I have to see a consultant (which I was for my mental health anyway). The scan person and the duty midwife wouldn’t explain why, but when I got home I googled that his size COULD indicate GD, so with my family history, I’m pretty sure the consultant is going to say that they suspect it. I’m just winding myself up because I’ve read the recommended diet if you do have GD and I’m intolerant to most of it, so I’m really concerned about what I’m going to eat if I do.

Buttercup53 · 19/08/2018 17:45

@gin oh also, I went to see my GP because I’m so tired and dizzy all the time, because my eye lids are very pale and my heart rate is quite high, he referred me for a blood test for iron and thyroid, and said if they came back clear it could be my blood sugar - they came back clear!

GinGeum · 19/08/2018 17:46

Ah that’s interesting, thanks. I keep getting told I’m ‘huuuuuuge Shock’ for 19/20 weeks thanks for that so I really hope I don’t measure big at the scan on Tuesday, I feel like GD will scupper my chances of a home birth!

GinGeum · 19/08/2018 17:48

Oh cross post. That extreme tiredness and desperate thirst are the things that are worrying me about having GD, but it’s hard to know if that’s normal pregnancy symptoms as well. Who knows! Presumably if there was a risk to the baby before 28 weeks, they wouldn’t have the test that late? (I hope)

Buttercup53 · 19/08/2018 17:56

@gin that’s the thing that concerns me as well, currently my GTT is when I’m 30 weeks (honestly what difference will the last 10 weeks make if I am?!), I would imagine though that if there is any sign of GD that they will bring it forward. I’ll be asking when I see the consultant on Thursday and I’ll update you with what they say if you’re also worried about it. I’ve been drinking a lot more than I usually do and feel thirsty a lot but have been putting it down to the hot weather and pregnancy - I don’t get dry mouth or feel dehydrated.

GinGeum · 19/08/2018 18:00

Yeah let me know! I was just worried about the drinking because I’m weeing so much so quickly after each drink, and I figured if I was that thirsty from dehydration, I wouldn’t be weeing it all back out straight away. But again, that’s probably just another delightful pregnancy symptom!

FuckMyUterus · 20/08/2018 04:49

Anyone else suffering from horrible nausea and dizziness? Woke up around an hour ago and can barely walk I'm so dizzy. Drank a couple of pints of water and had an urge to sit in a nice warm bath, and it's easing off now. Just another delightful symptom to cross off the pregnancy bingo haha.

Kate123cl · 20/08/2018 08:02

So I had my early gender scan yesterday and found out we're expecting a little boy!💙

@FuckMyUterus My nausea has finally wore off (I think)! Do feel dizzy though and usually wake randomly every hour or so!

GinGeum · 20/08/2018 08:04

Congrats Kate, I was just reading that thread! We find out tomorrow hopefully.

Kate123cl · 20/08/2018 08:17

@GinGeum Thanks! Amazing, is this your first?Smile

jennac · 20/08/2018 08:18

I have my 20 week scan in under 20 mins...so nervous!! 🤞

GinGeum · 20/08/2018 08:20

Yes it’s my first Smile

Good luck jenna!

Not sure if DH is going to make it to the scan tomorrow. He missed the other two as well but we thought he’d get to this one. Harvest is still going though!

jennac · 20/08/2018 08:28

Thank you @GinGeum! I'm on my own for the scan too due to work. Hopefully your dh can make it! I think I'm the only one in the waiting room without a partner...never mind eh! I don't mind really, at least I'm not sat here talking nonsense about how nervous I am! (Except to you guys 😊)

FuckMyUterus · 20/08/2018 08:47

Good luck jennac is everyone on here so far having a boy?

jennac · 20/08/2018 09:17

Thank you @FuckMyUterus

Everything went wonderfully - so happy I could pop. Have had 16 weeks of trying to stop myself getting excited and now I feel like I have actual permission!! Ahh 😀

I didn't find out sex, she told me to look away while she checked the bladder. The secret remains! 🤫

GinGeum · 20/08/2018 09:21

Great news jenna!

jennac · 20/08/2018 09:38

Thank you @GinGeum! Wishing you all the best for yours tomorrow! 😘

FuckMyUterus · 20/08/2018 09:41

Yay, so glad to hear everything is well! Do you think you'll regret not finding out later on?
I've booked a private scan for 1st September and it seems SO far away.
