Reintroduction:
I'm 33 (soon to be 34), living close to York and working in Bradford. This is my first baby and I am currently 16+3, and an EDD of 26th January. We don't want to know the sex of the child and I hope it won't make any difference to how we raise them.

We haven't bought anything yet, but have acquired some furniture through Freecycle and friends (changing table, wardrobe and cot). The plan is to either borrow or buy second hand as much as we can. The 20 week scan will be on the 7th September and I am looking forward to it. Like @buttercup53 I have not gained much weight (yet). I lost five pounds early on and have gained back two pounds so far.

I am pretty clueless about pregnancy and raising children so I really appreciate this group!

I'm 20 weeks today (half way!) which is exciting! Due New Year's Day! Scan on Monday which I am super nervous about! But other than that feeling good although no movements yet. Just hoping everything goes well next week and then we can get properly excited! Planning to do aquanatal, the hypnobirthing course and also gonna book on to an infant and baby first aid course as I am so new to all this and think it will be really helpful to know what to do should anything arise!

sqoodles · 15/08/2018 10:40

I can't remember what info I gave when I introduced myself!

I'm 36 and pregnant with my second - i'm currently 18+1. I already have a little girl who will be almost 4 when this one comes along. I live in Cheshire and work p/t in Manchester.

I'm not planning on doing hypnobirthing but pregnancy yoga starts next month. I've also booked in a couple of mum to be massages during the last trimester which I loved last time.

Feeling lots of tiny pops, especially in the evening, but no proper kicks yet. My scan is in a fortnight and i'm very keen to get that out of the way and hopefully relax into the second half!!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 15/08/2018 10:51

How do kicks at this stage feel?

I think I'm feeling something - but it may just be wind Blush

It feels like very light pops - like a little soap bubble bursting. I get a few of them at a time, and then nothing for a few hours. They seem to be mainly just above or at the top of the pubic area if that makes sense.

sqoodles · 15/08/2018 11:03

Riskit the sensation you describe is almost certainly little tiny kicks.

Sometimes it tickles a little bit for me but most of the time it's like bubbles popping as you said. I find they're definitely clustered too, I might feel loads for 10 minutes or so and then nothing for hours or sometimes a day or so.

sexnotgender · 15/08/2018 12:15

Like someone tickling me from the inside is how it feels to me. It’s very odd!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 15/08/2018 12:27

I'm really pleased to hear that - it's very exciting!
Thank you :)

GinGeum · 16/08/2018 07:52

Back to struggling with sleep again. So uncomfortable! How am I going to sleep with a huge belly if I can’t cope with a 19 week belly!

SuperVeggie · 16/08/2018 10:10

Hi everyone, nice to (re)meet you all!

Sounds like everyone is starting to get organised, so far all we have is one blanket! Lol. But we are in the process of decorating the spare room which will become the baby's room, and once that is done I will have had my 20w scan and if everything is ok then we will be able to start getting things ready and putting stuff in the new room.

I think I have felt some little bits of movement, it's really exciting, but I'm like you Riskit and I think it might just be gas!

I had a whole day of tests and scans yesterday, mainly on me and for my underlying condition, but because I had an ultrasound the sonographer kindly let me see the baba again quickly. Can't believe how much s/he has changed since 12 weeks already! I think we are going to find out the gender, is everyone else?

SuperVeggie · 16/08/2018 10:11

PS @GinGeum I am also really struggling getting comfortable at night. Bump is getting heavy and I'm trying to lie on my side but my hips keep going numb! I'm usually a tummy sleeper and I'm missing it a lot!

Sleesgirl · 16/08/2018 10:46

Can I join in please? It's lovely to read about so many others at a similar stage to me :)

I'm due right at the end of January with my first. Had a mmc last October, so can't seem to have faith that all will be ok this time around. Every scan/appointment is another little milestone for us :)

Sleesgirl · 16/08/2018 10:48

P.S @SuperVeggie, we'll be finding out.

FuckMyUterus · 16/08/2018 11:14

Had my 16 week appointment with the midwife, she couldn't find the heartbeat aaaargh :( have a scan this afternoon though so hopefully that'll show that everything is fine. Anyone else had this?

sexnotgender · 16/08/2018 11:33

Anything else suffering from headaches? Driving me crazy!

FuckMyUterus · 16/08/2018 11:39

sexnotgender yes! Had awful tension headaches for about 4 weeks now :(

SophieStripe · 16/08/2018 11:40

Don't worry supervegie we have nothing yet either! We are moving house too and not even able to even start thinking about baby room! Like you though after 20 week scan I am going to start buying stuff. I am have been doing loads of research and I know almost everything I want to buy! Movements I have actually begun to feel quite a bit. I am 19 weeks. Week 17/18 I thought I was feeling stuff but wasn't entirely sure, yesterday it was proper kicks to the point you could see my tummy moving! I was surprised as my 12 week scan said anterior placenta which is supposed to cushion movement. I don't feel it every day, maybe every 2 or 3 days. This is normal at this stage apparently as they still have a lot of room to hide. Fuckmyuterus sorry you are having an anxious time... I'm sure your baby was just hiding! My midwife prepped me before doing it saying it is still very small and I might not find it, so I think it's quite common for it not to be found! Some areas apparently don't even try because of the added stress it can cause when it can't be found

sqoodles · 16/08/2018 11:52

fuckmyuterus I hope all is well. I know it's not that unusual to not find it, I had that in an earlier scan and it turned out to be fine afterall.

Yes to the headaches, sometimes I go to bed with one and wake up and it's still there Sad. I had this in my last pregnancy too and they eased by about 25 wks to be replaced by evil evil heartburn and indigestion. Great Grin

Sleeping is all over the place for me too. I seem to be on a 3 day cycle of terrible sleep one night, mostly terrible the second night and dead to the world exhausted sleep on night 3 Confused. Then back to the start again. At least I know what kind of night i'm likely to have each night!

sqoodles · 16/08/2018 11:57

Meant to add...we're finding out the gender.

I know it's a bit naff but i've pre-ordered 4 cupcakes with blue and pink centres so that my husband and little girl can find out the gender that evening. My husband can no longer come to the scan due to a board meeting so he can have a cake surprise too.

I'll just have to eat the two that aren't required Wink

doleritedinosaur · 16/08/2018 12:10

Just had my cervical length scan check & everything is good. Baby was as awkward as ever so good thing it was internal as check up measurements would have taken forever.

Not finding out what baby is as my last was a “surprise” & it was so nice finding out afterwards. Although asked OH was baby was “Don’t know!” Was his reply hahaha.

@fuckmyuterus I’m sure all is well & baby was just “hiding” at this stage everything can still be low etc.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 16/08/2018 12:15

FuckMyUterus I hope everything is well!

I have a headache today too.
I suffer from migraines, and it has been quite bad in the past, taking a lot of preventative medication and triptans.
I came off the preventative medication and have been cutting down on the triptans before getting pregnant, and during pregnancy I have so far only treated headaches and migraines with rest and ice packs.

I've been feeling like my head has been pretty good up until today.

I'm working from home, so I'll see if I can find a bit of time to lie down with ice packs on my head, as well as eating something sugary as that tends to also help. I'd usually have an ice cold coke, but I'm trying really hard to not drink very much of it anymore.

sexnotgender · 16/08/2018 13:03

Sorry to hear I’m not the only headache sufferer.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 16/08/2018 13:56

Oh sqoodles that's a really sweet idea!

And now I really want cake!

FuckMyUterus · 16/08/2018 16:58

Well, had my scan, and it's not brilliant news unfortunately. I have very low amniotic fluids, deepest pocket is around 15mm, but also it looks like baby only has one kidney and no bladder. It's a waiting game now til my 20 week scan on 13th September but they've said chances are pretty much 50:50 :(

sexnotgender · 16/08/2018 17:02

Oh I’m sorry fuckmyuterus, will keep everything crossed that your scan on the 20th reveals better news.
