Hi all. just been having a quick catch up on all YOUR news (sorry, head in a baby cloud!)

Seaside - lovely to hear your scan went well and all signs are good.

MrsMc - ooh, I do hope that is the baby moving you can feel!

Chooster - those were my exact words on Monday lunchtime .... "ooh, I think I've got ages to go yet, probably another couple of weeks".... or maybe just 12 hours!

Firsty, hope you're feeling ok after your late night. Increased alertness and activity are good signs that things are going to happen soon I think

Honeyapple about your neighbours kid! How awful. Must have been a dreadful thing to witness.

Babymad - good work on keeping the stats up to date!

Greedy - loved your posts - was sorry I couldn't do a live labour thread, but over too quick!

Can't wait for some more of you to join me on the other side now! I have ordered 2 hour labours for you all

Baby bodders/Isla is a smasher. Sleeps like a log all day, and fidgets and fusses and feeds all night, but that's the norm with a newborn, so have managed to catch a couple of hours nap at lunchtime and feel much better now. MWs v. happy with everything, and have said they won't bother coming back til Saturday now, so a few days peace!

Thanks Firsty ? I read somewhere about a chime thing that you wear round your neck (it?s long) when you are pg and then it turns into a rattle for the LO, apparently the familiar noise is really soothing. Can?t remember where I saw that, would love one though

Bodders ? are you in your skinny jeans yet? I?m impressed that you are even talking to us, I?d still be stroking that fuzzy peach head Hope they don?t run out of those 2 hour labours by the time I have mine ? who am I kidding, 1st baby, no chance

BabyMadandBIGbump · 11/07/2007 16:32

MrsMcJnr Love them names, LOL, my name is "Elishea" people tend to say it without the "E" sound, which sounds ah-lee-sha, and my son is "Xavier" but with an "Z"!

Cant wait to share with you all my baby's name but not saying at the moment we just call him/her baby "C" for the time being!

Bodkin nice to hear from you, LO sounds lovely, just make sure you take it easy chick!

honeyapple · 11/07/2007 16:40

Hiya,

Bought a little pressie (some lego) for boy next door, cant imagine how horrid it must be to be stuck in hospital. Thanks for all your well wishes .

Bodkin- I still cant quite believe that you are chatting to us with your little baby there!

Mrsmc- At my DS's school in London there was a little girl called Aaliyah. She was from a British muslim family. I do think the name is lovely, very pretty, but as Firsty said, potentially difficult to spell and pronounce for other people. But hey, my DS has a name like that!
I felt proper movement at 16 wks, but was convinced I felt LO earlier than this, as early as about 12 wks. However, now not so sure it was the bean! When you have the 12 wk scan and they tell you it is only 5 cm long, that's when I started having doubts!
My SIL who is PG says she hasnt felt anything yet, and she is nearly 20 wks PG. So, everyone is different.

DP out tonight ... DD watching cbeebies, and DS at his friends house... should really do something with DD but havent got the energy at the moment.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 11/07/2007 16:46

seaside great to hear that your scan was all good, so pleased for you!

honeyapple same thing happened to my little brother when he was 4, it was a hard time, his badly broken femur tuck 3 months to get right and he had a broken arm too, my mother had to stay with him a lot of the time, so we never saw her, I hope he get better alot sooner then my brother did!

MrsMcJnr · 11/07/2007 16:53

Babymad ? of course it is similar, I like Leah too and an Aaliyah might get called that I guess I have a cousin called Alisha (Canadian) ? I knew you had an Zavier C?!

Honeyapple poor little boy ? hope he is ok. Interesting about the Aaliyah you know. DH likes it but thinks both sets of parents would freak at the origins (as would his folks at Xavier to be honest) our families are a bit narrow minded like that but we don?t really care what they think! I hear what you are saying about the spelling and pronunciation. My name is Amanda (as you know) and that took me a long time to learn to spell when I was little, especially as I am a bit dyslexic and used to forget where the M and N went Interesting about movements I?ll report any more alien activity! My update from Baby Centre told be yesterday that the baby should be about 8cm now and weigh half a banana ? 8cm is about the size of a banana would you say?! seem to grow very fast at this stage - last week it was meant to be 5cm!

honeyapple · 11/07/2007 16:53

thanks babymad

honeyapple · 11/07/2007 16:58

Mrsmc- I think 8 cm seems quite big (perhaps not as big as a banana!) I mean big enough to maybe create enough movement for you to feel. It is weird isnt it. This morning I was lying in bed with DP, thinking about getting up, anyway, he had his hand on my tum and LO was really wriggling about, not kicking, just squirming and DP thought it felt really alien like!

greedygreedyguzzler · 11/07/2007 17:45

hey bodders - don't listen to these girls! you can't stop coming on here and chatting to us ............you can type one handed whilst you bf or change nappies can't you???.............hows your jelly belly?! hows lovely little isla? (is that definate now?)

honeyapple - sorry to hear about your neighbour, poor little thing. kids normally get over these things quite quickly though, so i hope he bounces back soon.

babymad - bodders successful homebirth story must be nice to hear. hopefully yours will be just the same. (yours too honeyapple!)

mrs - i can remember REALLY concentrating hard to try and feel my baby first time round. i used to lie down for ages and try to feel him, but i never felt him till 20 + wks! i hope it is your baby you can feel and you haven't just got the farts!!

seaside - your scan sounds FAB!!! it really blows your mind doesn't it! and like chooster said, i dont think it gets any less amazing the more you have.......................having said that, one of my friends had twins and has a congenital heart problem and she was scnned every 2 wks, and she DID get fed up of them!

chooster and firsty - start now with the ripe pineapple, hot curry, sex, raspberry leaf tea, nipple tweaking and cheap red wine with spicy saussages (that was my dh that told me that one!....apparently its what they recommend in france to bring on labour!!)

oh! i might need to change my prediction too! i will decide on fri after i see the midwife cos she is going to check if i am having a whopper or not!

fettle - HIYA!!!!! can we change our birth date from 20th sept? the way our extension is going, i am not sure our house will be finished by then!!!...........how does december 20th sound to you???!!!

twix - HIYA!!!!

iwillbe - HIYA!!!....and when are you going to change your name to 'I AM'!!!!

who have i forgotten?

oh..........welcome clairbear!!!

fettleandminifettle · 11/07/2007 20:04

Hi all

Congratulations, Bodders - i'm so ! You have your lovely little DD2 and in such an easy labour way - it is really going to be hard to follow suit! Thank goodness you were all set for a home birth - could have been quite a race to teh hospital otherwise! Please keep posting, if you get the chance - we'll miss you otherwise! I think Isla is beautiful - have to say I was thinking about Isla if I happen to have a babygirl, but only as it sounds very like something I'm working really hard on at work at the moment and I said that if the stress induced an early labour, I would have to call her/him Isla!!! Another friend has an Isla, who's Isla the Smiler or Isla the Grizzler depending on what mood she's in!! I really love it! Shame I can't call my boy, Isla!

Hello everyone else
Honey - your poor neighbour - hope he makes he a quick full recovery. Not great time to be in hospital in the summer. Thank goodness he's ok(ish) though.

Firsty - have to agree wtih Bodders, she started having extra energy a few days before she had Isla, so i'd watch out! how rude can people be, re size?. I'm getting the other way though, people keep saying "are you pregnant?!". Do they really think I'm just fat!!!

MrsMc - those rattle things sound like a great idea. and I love your name choices too. I definitely felt this LO at 14 weeks, while waiting for my dating scan. It was almost as if he was saying, don't worry, I'm here! Didn't then feel him properly again until abou 18 weeks, but I'm sure I felt him that day!

Greeds - not sure my pelvis will last to Dec 20th - quite tempted with an August baby to be honest, but that will mess up DD's nursery/school plans a wee bit. Just want to meet this little one, but still quite enjoying being pg at the moment [just wish my hips/pelvis weren't so sore!] Your extension will be ready in time - look how well Bodders planned it - we haven't even moved into our house yet!!!

Iampg - glad all going well with you!

Seaside - glad your scan gone well! It is amazing how much detail they can see isn't it.

Right, I know I've missed someone, but that's my pg brain - I don't mean it.

Oh, Chooster!!!! How are you? need to check how bodder's VVVs are to reassure you!!!

right, need to eat now and then, sorry to admit it, but I have to work again this evening - more presentations to give tomorrowl. 7 weeks and 2 days to go until mat leave - might start counting in minutes!!!

take care all
xxx

Bodkin · 11/07/2007 20:45

Hi guys. Have put a couple of pics on profile now.

Fettle - you're right, it would have been a bit of a mare getting to hospital on time, we live 30 mins away! LOL at Isla the Smiler/Grizzler.

MrsMcJ - I think that a MNer called Kyte on our antenatal thread has one of those Bola things - I'm sure I saw her mention it in a post. Next time I'm posting there I'll ask where she got it. But she is a priest, so maybe it is part of her uniform

Greedy - if you wait until Dec to have your baby, she'll be about 20lbs by then, are you sure you want to put your pelvic floor through that?

Bodkin · 11/07/2007 20:55

Oh yeah - the dreaded VVVs! I had forgotton about those, which must be a good thing! Well, I can safely say they did NOT explode - phew! and although they are still there, no pain at all now, so expect they'll go down eventually. Chooster, your ladygarden will be back to it's beautiful best in no time

honeyapple · 11/07/2007 20:59

AHHHHHH!!!! Super pics Bodders... even one with you in! Gorgeous girls indeed.

fettleandminifettle · 11/07/2007 21:13

Oh Bodders!!

Both your DDs are gorgeous! you must be so proud and I love the kitchen!!!

Love to all!
xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 11/07/2007 22:07

fab pics bodders - such beautiful girls and your dd1 looks SO proud and protective of her little sis!!!

fettle - AUGUST????? are you sure????? we wont even be on mat leave by then! i dont fancy giving birth whilst manoeuvering a patient round my bench!!!

fettleandminifettle · 11/07/2007 22:15

You're right, Greeds - August is quite early! Remember i had DD at 36 weeks though, so that's par for the course for me.

I've worked out that 5th August, is the equivalent date of this pg to the day I found out about my liver condition last time, so everything crossed that doesn't happen. But I refuse to go to 42 weeks! I don't want to have a monster. a 7lb 4.5oz baby at 36 weeks was fine by me last time!!!

Babymad - changing my prediction to 25th September, 8lbs exactly! [sorry I forgot you in my last post! Didn't mean it, blame the hormones. I called my boss Catriona today - that's the name of my childhood friend!!! My brain is definitely mushing at the moment!]

Got MW appointment tomorrow and then consultant appointment on 24th July, so hopefully all will be ok.

sleep well!

[what you think of the Australian housemate, Greeds?! Can I just say HOW ANNOYING IS CHARLIE!]

Chooster · 11/07/2007 22:31

Hi,

You are right Firsty - This LO could engage and then pop out very quickly!!! So you never know eh!?!. I had the same thing on the phone today - DH called his mum to cancel her babysitting tonight and she immediately flew into a panic as he doesn't normally call her at work .

My mum however is driving me mad already. We haven;t got a land line at the mo and if I dont pick up my mobile straight away she leaves a frantic message and calls back every half hour - grrrrrr - I've had to tell her to stop or we will seriously fall out if this baby comes late .

We used to live next to an Aaliyah in Ediburgh - spelt the same way. The parents were English and Scottish but met when they were travelling. Its a lovely name... Her sister was called Grace.

Bodders, am so pleased that baby bodders is sleeping well during the day - she sounds an absolute angel!

Hi everyone else - I wrote this post ages ago and am only just sending it! Probably a lot has moved on in the last couple hours. Sleep well!!!

Chooster · 11/07/2007 22:34

Ooooh, pictures of baby bodders!!! They look gorgeous!!! Such beautiful girls - you must be a very proud mummy

greedygreedyguzzler · 11/07/2007 22:51

fettle - i still haven't caught up with bb yet!!! i am on sundays episode at thw moment so i think she is due to come into the house any minute!!! i dont like charlie, nicki, chanelle, ziggy, or tracey much!!!! in fact, not sure why i watch it really! dont think much of any of them.....aprt from cutie liam!!! did like brian until he pissed himself and then that put me off..............has he had 2 kids? has he got an excuse!??? quite like carol and the twins are harmless and gerry is ok too i suppose!!!! .................liam has to win really doesn't he? i can see it all turning around and everyone starting to think charlie is ok and then her winning!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

so when is your last day at work fettle? mine is a bit crap still. i have a locum covering one day for me from 12th august, but i will still have to go in and see patients when i can until i feel like i cant physically do it anymore!.....guess it depends how much bigger my gigantic bump gets!!!! its getting quite hard to lean over people without stroking them with my bump!!!...............i'm sure there is a name for that!!! i have one adjustment that i do on some patients that involves their feet getting quite close to my boobs and when we were being taught at college they told us to be careful and that there was a name for that too.............frottle? does that sound right??? i might google it!!!.....................am i waffling???!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 11/07/2007 22:57

just looked up frottle and i seem to have got a bit confused!!!!!.......must have been thinking of frottage!!!!!!.....................and none of that goes on in my clinic i can tell you!!!!!!

there is definatley a word for some kind of foot/boob activity!!!....................i think!!!!!

OMG! time i went to bed and rested my tired brain!!!!................wish i hadn't just read such a graphic description of frottage now.................could have some wierd dreams again!!!

Morning everyone, hope you're all OK??

Bodders - gorgeous piccies! What lovely girls! I'm so jealous, I cant wait for a peach fuzz head of my own... sigh. Wish he'd hurry up so I can meet him! When you have a moment of peace, you'll have to tell us all about the labour. Us first-timers need to know!!! From waters breaking to the final push.... pretty please?!

Greedy - what the hell is frottage!?!? Or shouldnt I ask?!

Can I please have some sympathy and some advice?? My feet and ankles have swollen up and are currently the size of Antartica. So horrible to look at, and the feeling is unbearable!! Urgh.

Now - a bit of advice - I know that swelling could be a sign of pre-eclampsia (I dont think it is anything that serious as my BP has been normal and have had no other symptoms) - do you think it's OK for me to wait until my midwife appt on Monday, or should I call the GP today just in case? Need advice...

Group hello to everyone else
